Nevada City, CA March 22, 2023 – Yacht rock is a popular music category that exemplifies the softer rock songs of the late 1970’s to the early 1980’s.  Members of the popular group Shaky Ground have taken hold of that music and changed their name to Yacht Rock Fever to let lovers of the genre know what they are all about. They are set to entertain patrons Friday, March 31 st at Miners Foundry in Nevada City.

Scott Wilson was part of (and managed) the reggae band MYSTAFYA and the funk band Elevation before joining the popular band Shaky Ground last spring.  Wilson plays drums and joined guitarist John Lucas, harmonica player Jerry Earwood, Gary Epps on keyboard and bassist Paul Lear.  Each of the original members take on vocals and the band features strong harmonies, which adds to the yacht rock sound.

The band was already playing nearly all the top 40 yacht rock songs of all time, but their name did not mesh with their set list.  Wilson said, “I thought Shaky Ground was a blues band. If we are a yacht rock band, why not put it in the name?”  It wasn’t long before the drummer suggested the band was missing an opportunity to showcase their yacht rock licks. The other band members agreed, or maybe it was their idea, but either way Yacht Rock Fever was born!

Yacht Rock Fever will be entertaining patrons with songs by Steely Dan, Boz Skaggs, Hall & Oates, Paul Simon, The Doobie Brothers, Player and many other familiar artists.  The group of accomplished musicians plays fun, upbeat songs with great harmonies and welcome audiences who tend to dress with a nautical theme in mind, Wilson said, “Because it’s becoming a thing, we find we have the younger crowds showing up and they usually show up in nautical wear like a captain’s hat or a striped shirt or a sailor’s hat.  People show up ready for a goofy, fun time.  It’s a blast.” 

Of course, nautical wear is optional but simply adds to the fun.

Even if you have seen the band before, it’s likely there will be something new to enjoy, Wilson said, “We typically will learn two to three new songs between gigs. This music is tricky. It sounds smooth and easy but it’s quite intricate. This band continues to learn new songs.”  If you love yacht rock, you will really love this band.

Yacht Rock Fever is enjoying both local and regional popularity.  Wilson added he feels like the timing is good after all the bad weather and is looking forward to entertaining the crowd — of any age!

Yacht Rock Fever at The Tokeneke Club

Our Yacht Rock Fever benefit will be held on Saturday April 27, 2024, at the Tokeneke Club.  

Tickets are sold-out!

Doors open 6:30 pm and the festivities end at 11 pm.

Please uber or ride share as there is no parking.   

Drivers Unlimited will be providing a free car service home to residences in Darien starting at 9:30 pm.

This year, in honor of The Darien Foundation’s 25 th anniversary, we are taking the event up a level with a special disco theme.  We are also thrilled to be welcoming “The Right On Band” which has rocked stages around the world (including the White House!).

– Yachtley Crew, the acclaimed Southern California band synonymous with the Yacht Rock revival, is set to perform at Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles.

The band will bring their “Full Steam Ahead Tour” to Paso Robles on Saturday, Aug. 31, as part of their nationwide tour promoting their debut EP “Seas The Day,” released via Jimmy Buffett’s Mailboat Records.

Fans in Paso Robles and beyond will have the opportunity to experience Yachtley Crew’s unique blend of nostalgia and entertainment as they perform hits from the late ’70s and early ’80s, including their own original song “S*x on the Beach.” Produced and mixed by Grammy award-winning Chris Lord-Alge, “Seas the Day” has been praised for its vibrant energy and modern twist on classic yacht rock tunes.

Under the management of industry veteran Andy Gould and represented by Jim Lenz at TKO, Yachtley Crew has captured the attention of audiences nationwide with their captivating performances and authentic sound. Their lineup, featuring lead vocalist Phillip Daniel (Philly Ocean) and other nautically-themed members, promises an evening of music and fun.

The band’s upcoming performance at Vina Robles Amphitheatre is expected to draw fans of all ages, eager to sing along to beloved hits such as Boz Scaggs’ “Lido Shuffle,” Ace’s “How Long,” and Christopher Cross’ “Ride Like the Wind.” Yachtley Crew’s reputation for delivering high-energy performances and engaging with their audience ensures that the Paso Robles concert will be a highlight of their tour.

Tickets for the Vina Robles Amphitheatre performance go on sale Friday, May 3, at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.

Moscow Metro to launch EP with gig in Kasbah Social Club

IT is a busy week in Limerick for music, a welcome complaint as the summer approaches.

Booker Seoda Shows in particular has his plate full with three gigs in three days - starting with American ‘indietronica’ band, The Octopus Project, who play in Cobblestone Joe’s this Thursday night.

Support for the Austin band comes from guests Elastic Sheep and admission is free.

On Friday the booker hosts an album launch show for local musician dREA, who releases the keenly anticipated Bravest of All in the Red Hen on Patrick Street at 9pm, with support from Kate Twohig.

And on Saturday Seoda hosts superb Limerick band Moscow Metro, who launch new EP Spirit of A City with a gig in the new Kasbah Social Club on the Dock Road - next door to Dolan’s and home to Seoda Shows for the foreseeable future.

The home town show for Moscow Metro is also free, with support from DJ Tom Fitz of Termight Klub fame.
