The first thing is clothes and shoes. You will need comfortable, summer and sports clothing and also some long-sleeved clothing because, at night, the temperature in the sea tends to fall. As for footwear, you will only need comfortable shoes and flip flops, although we recommend soft-soled and non-slip shoes to walk on the boat. Another essential thing is sun protection. The spray or sunscreen are very important to not burn you because the sun in the Mediterranean is very strong. We also advise you to wear long linen clothes to protect you during the hours of more intense sunlight. 60 to 89 days before the charter start date: Clients are eligible to receive a 50% refund of the total charter fee.

Less than 60 days before the charter start date: No refunds will be available, as we are unlikely to rebook the yacht for the specified period on short notice.

We strongly recommend clients consider travel insurance that covers charter cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness or travel disruptions. This ensures that your investment is protected, and you can look forward to your luxury yacht charter experience with peace of mind.

Immediate Concerns: If your complaint is related to the yacht or services provided during your charter, we kindly ask you to inform the captain or the head crew member as soon as possible. Many issues can be resolved quickly when addressed in real time, ensuring the rest of your charter experience remains enjoyable

Formal Complaint: If your concern cannot be resolved during the charter or if it pertains to issues before or after your yacht experience, please submit a formal complaint in writing within 14 days of the charter's conclusion. You can email us directly at [email protected] .

Investigation Process: Upon receiving your complaint, our customer service team dealing with Ibiza Yacht Charter will conduct a thorough investigation.

Resolution: We aim to resolve all complaints within 30 days of receipt. We will provide you with a written response detailing the outcome of our investigation.

New to charter?

The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is due at the time of the final charter payment. Under MYBA terms, this sum is usually equivalent to 30 per cent of the total charter fee, but may be up to 40 per cent in some cases.

Intended to cover the operating expenses of a charter as explained under Charter Terms, such as fuel, food, drinks, port fees and ad hoc incidentals, the APA will be given to the captain before the start of your charter. The Captain will ensure that the yacht is fully fuelled and provisioned when you step on board. While an up-to-date summary of accounts can be requested at any time during your charter, a full set of accounts will normally be submitted by your captain at the end of the cruise. If, during the charter, the expenditure exceeds the sum already paid, additional cash funds will be required at once.

All outstanding bills from the yacht charter should be settled in cash or by bank transfer before your final disembarkation. Of course, any remaining credit at the end of your charter will be reimbursed to you in full. On request, transfer arrangements to and from the yacht can be made by Burgess or by the yacht’s captain, payment for which will be deducted from your APA.

In 1992 this region was given special protection as a nature reserve.  Plata de Salines is Ses Salines' beach and one of the most popular  spot, one section of which has been designated for nudists.

For most Ibiza yacht charters to be secured, you will usually need to provide a completed charter agreement and 50% of the charter fee as a deposit. This is payable once the contract has been signed.

You will have a greater variety of yachts to pick from if you decide to start your charter in Ibiza or Mallorca compared to mainland destinations. Whilst Barcelona certainly has a considerable array of yachts to choose from, it is not as extensive as the islands. 

We also strongly recommend that you book your yacht charter in Ibiza at least three months in advance to ensure you get the yacht you desire. The longer you leave it, you'll find you'll have less choice available.

There is a yacht to suit almost every budget in Ibiza so rest assured that you will find a vessel suitable to your requirements.

But when booking do keep in mind the costs that aren't included in the base rate, namely VAT and the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance). The APA is usually paid in advance of the charter and is commonly set at 30% of the charter fee. This allowance covers expenses such as fuel, berthing, food and drinks, as well as any special requests.

Search suspended for 4 people missing after Alaskan charter boat sinks: Coast Guard

The five people aboard the boat were last seen Sunday afternoon.

The Coast Guard suspended its search late Monday for four missing people after a charter fishing boat sank off the coast of Alaska.

Rescuers located one deceased individual and the vessel partially submerged near a small island 10 miles from Sitka, Alaska, according to the Coast Guard.

Kingfisher Charters, a Sitka-based company that operates all-inclusive fishing trips, reported the missing vessel to the Coast Guard on Sunday evening. The boat was carrying four passengers and one guide when it sank, according to the Coast Guard.

The 30-foot aluminum vessel was last seen on Sunday afternoon near Kruzof Island, less than 10 miles from the small rocky island where the ship was found.

"Despite our best efforts and those of several partner agencies, we were not able to find the four remaining individuals, " Coast Guard Captain Darwin Jensen said. "Suspending a search is never an easy decision. We extend our deepest sympathy to the loved ones during this difficult time.

Rescuers, including the Coast Guard, local officials, and private boaters, searched 825 miles over 20 hours before suspending the search.

Sitka often attracts anglers from across the United States for its king salmon and halibut fishing, both currently in season. Located in Alaska’s Southeast panhandle, Sitka has over 8,000 residents across Baranof Island, according to the latest census data.

Coast Guard says Alaska charter boat likely capsized last year after flooding, killing 5

SITKA, Alaska (AP) — A fishing charter boat found partially submerged off an island in southeast Alaska last May likely capsized after its well deck flooded in rough seas, according to the U.S. Coast Guard, which investigated the incident that left five people dead, including two vacationing sisters and their partners.

More than 100 people attended the Coast Guard’s town hall-style presentation in Sitka last week on the findings of its investigation, the Daily Sitka Sentinel reported .

Investigators said survival options were limited once the 30-foot (9-meter) boat, Awakin, capsized on May 28, 2023; the vessel was not required to carry an emergency raft. The boat, which was found off Low Island, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) west of Sitka, had minimal provisions for draining water from the well deck, the Coast Guard’s lead investigator, Cmdr. Nate Menefee, said.

“The initiating event of the Awakin’s casualty was a sudden flooding of Awakin’s well deck by a large swell,” Menefee said. “This was impacted by positioning the vessel close to Low Island in shallow water and at low tide, which brought the vessel to a hazardous area, increasing the likelihood of encountering large swells and breaking surf. The navigation of Awakin near Low Island is a major factor of this incident. Flooding the vessel’s well deck and limited drainage openings would have substantially impacted vessel stability.”

Menefee said there is a degree of uncertainty around the final minutes of the trip and added that the Coast Guard “cannot definitively say exactly what caused Awakin to capsize.” There were no witnesses and no distress calls received, the Coast Guard said.

At 2:43 p.m. on May 28, the boat’s tracking system recorded its last known location, just south of Low Island near a well-known fishing spot. One of the passengers trapped in the cabin tried five times to make emergency calls on their cellphone between 3:01 and 3:12 p.m., but no calls connected. A text message recovered from the phone’s draft messages folder read “Call 911” but was unsent.

The last photos recovered from a phone were taken at 2:43 p.m. and show a passenger holding a rockfish.

The lodge where the charter originated reported the boat overdue around 5:30 p.m. A Coast Guard helicopter launched at 6:55 p.m. and shortly thereafter located the boat, partially submerged. While the Coast Guard aims to maintain 30-minute readiness for launching a helicopter, it took longer that day because of fueling issues.

Those who died were charter guide Morgan Robidou, 32; Brandi Tyau, 56, and her partner Robert Solis, 61, of Canoga Park, California; and Danielle Agcaoili, 53, and her husband, Maury Agcaolli, 57, of Waipahu, Hawaii. Autopsies determined drowning was the cause of death of the four whose bodies were recovered .

2 involved in head-on boat crash on Little Pee Dee River in stable condition, SCDNR says

MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - Officails are providing new details about a Memorial Day boat crash on the Little Pee Dee River.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said its officers are actively investigating the incident. Preliminary reports from the agency state a center-console boat and jon boat collided “in a curvy section of the river.”

The SCDNR added two people that were on the jon boat were hurt, but are in stable condition.

Crews from Horry County Fire Rescue, Marion County EMS and the Horry County Police Department all responded to the scene.

It was a customer who typically booked striped bass fishing trips on her boat, the Kent Island-based Chasin’ Tail, once or twice per year. But when she told the angler about this year’s regulations, which limit customers to one fish per person, he said he’d have to get back to her.

“That’s what everyone says: ‘We’ll get back to you,’” Shields said. “And then you don’t hear back.”

This year in Maryland, the rules around catching the state fish, known by the nickname rockfish , are among the tightest in recent memory, not counting a moratorium in the late 1980s that spurred a resurgence of the depleted species.

Maryland charter boat crews, who make their living guiding anglers to the prized sportfish, say the catch restrictions have dampened enthusiasm and diminished bookings.

But they come amid troubling population data for the species, including five straight years of below-average tallies of baby rockfish in Maryland’s portion of the Chesapeake Bay, the birthplace of the majority of the species’ Atlantic stock. The population is considered overfished.

This year, the one-fish limit applies to all recreational anglers in the bay, whether they fish aboard private boats or on charters, which can cost upward of $125 per person. And every keeper must fit within a narrow size limit from 19 to 24 inches long. Maryland officials also canceled the trophy season, a two-week period that previously opened the spring season, during which anglers targeted the largest striped bass after their arrival in the bay to spawn.

Limits for commercial watermen were slashed 7% in the Chesapeake and the Atlantic Ocean this year. But in Maryland, that quota reduction won’t be enforced until 2025.

In March, two organizations representing charter boat companies and other watermen filed a lawsuit against the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, the multistate compact that determines fishing regulations for rockfish and a host of other nearshore species. A federal judge in Baltimore rejected their request for an injunction against the rules; they’ve appealed to a higher court.

Charter captains argue the regulations’ impact on charters is excessive.

“Some people straight up say, ‘Man, I’m not coming for one fish,’” Shields said.

Some captains said they anticipate the season’s bookings could be cut in half, dealing a blow not only to their businesses, but also to the hotels, tackle shops, and bars and restaurants frequented by their customers.

“There was no consideration of the economic impact,” said retired Capt. Robert Newberry, chair of the Delmarva Fisheries Association, which represents local watermen.

Delmarva Fisheries is part of the lawsuit against the Atlantic States commission, alongside the Maryland Charter Boat Association.

“We haven’t lost,” Newberry said. “We haven’t lost until we’re out of gas, and we’ve still got three-quarters of a tank.”

Maryland officials actually fought against the one-fish limit at the Atlantic States commission, said Mike Luisi, associate director of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Fishing and Boating Services. Luisi proposed that charter boats, unlike regular recreational anglers, be eligible to keep two fish per person. But other states nixed the proposal, and Maryland did not appeal.

“We had an objective and it was challenging, to say the least, when we got back, to explain to people that this is what the rules are going to be,” Luisi said.

For some customers, the pull of a day on the bay is still enough. Marc Combs, a resident of Taylorsville in Carroll County, traveled across the Bay Bridge to Kent Island for his charter trip on the second day of the season, with three friends.

“Right now, you’re just doing it for fun — to get away from work — versus coming down here to try and get fish to put in the refrigerator,” he said, pulling four Ziploc bags of pink, freshly fileted stripers from a cooler in the bed of his truck.

“One 19-inch fish isn’t going to do a lot of feeding too many people,” he said.

The story of this year’s limits goes back to a 2019 stock assessment, which found the rockfish in the Atlantic and the Chesapeake to be overfished, said Emilie Franke, fishery management plan coordinator at the Atlantic States commission. That triggered a target: recovering the species by 2029.

A few years in, rockfish seemed on pace for a 10-year recovery. But in 2022, the commission noticed a worrisome jump in recreational harvest, Franke said: an 88% increase relative to 2021’s data. The high mortality slashed the likelihood of a resurgence by 2029.

The likely cause? The coming-of-age of the rockfish born in 2015 — the last time there was a truly robust birth year for stripers in the Chesapeake.

“When more fish become available to the fishery, oftentimes that can lead to increased effort,” Franke said. “However, the unexpected part here is the magnitude of that increase.”

The number of spawning-age females has been mostly declining since about 2010, when it was 230 million pounds, she said. In 2021, the most recent year with data, it was 143 million pounds, compared with a target of 235 million pounds.

Still, “we’re not in the dark days of striped bass depletion that we were in the 1980s,” said Dave Secor, a professor and fisheries scientist at the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory in Solomons Island.

But new hazards have entered the fray against stripers.

Invasive blue catfish could be “a big smoking gun,” Secor said. The ever-hungry predators have taken hold in Maryland’s bay tributaries, arriving from Virginia, where they were introduced, and they have been known to gobble up large quantities of young striped bass.

“I hope I’m wrong. I hope that we get a strong year class. It’s still very feasible to get a strong year class,” Secor said. “It’s just this constant, serial, year-after-year low recruitment is suggestive of the actions of a dominant predator — blue catfish.”

Warming waters in the Chesapeake also could be playing a role. The spring migration of rockfish is driven by water temperature, and with recent warm winters and less snowmelt, adult stripers are arriving earlier for spawning, when juvenile’s food sources such as zooplankton are less abundant.

The availability of prey for older striped bass, such as Atlantic menhaden, a small baitfish that is harvested for fishmeal and oil production, is another critical factor in the species’ survival. And the pollution of the bay, which creates low-oxygen “dead zones” can threaten the beloved fish.

Meanwhile, some watermen and charter captains are skeptical about the data behind the limits. Maryland’s annual “young-of-the-year” survey, which estimates the amount of recently hatched rockfish in the bay, has happened mostly in the same locations since the survey began in 1954.

With fish behaviors potentially changing, some watermen want the survey to expand to new places, where rockfish may be more plentiful than they once were.

“It’s tough, because we know where the fish are and we’re seeing them there,” said Capt. Brandon Moore of Chasin’ Tail charters.

But maintaining the survey’s locations is key to making sound comparisons from year to year, Luisi said. The state could keep the original list intact and survey extra sites, but doing so would come at a cost of time and resources for the department, he said.

Still, aboard the charters, some things haven’t changed. For customers who catch a silvery striped bass within the limits, the thrill remains.

“I cast the rod and then within two minutes I had the first bite,” said Rodolfo “Rudy” Burgos Salazar, who caught three rockfish during a recent trip, though he was new to fishing.

Kneeling down, Burgos Salazar pulled folded dollar bills from his sock.

“I wanted three fish, so I put three dollars in,” he said with a laugh.

But the narrow size window causes plenty of disappointment, particularly for young children or first-time anglers, said Capt. Tilghman Hemsley. It’s a dramatic decline from last year’s, when anglers could keep fish up to 31 inches.

“You’re throwing the big fish,” Hemsley said. “People have never caught a big fish like that before.”

Not all of the released fish survive. As waters warm, the catch-and-release process becomes even more arduous for the rockfish. Maryland has instituted a two-week summer closure this year, as in past years, opting not to extend it further.

When his charter boat reaches its limit, the crew turns its attention to other species, including baitfish such as spot, Hemsley said. When waters warm, crabbing could fill the time, or fishing for Spanish mackerel and bluefish.

Aboard the Breezin’ Thru, a 75-year-old charter, customers are served a menu of fresh Chesapeake fare to pass the time, including crabcakes, steamed crabs and fried fish.

“The real value is, we’re going to take you away from what you do for a whole day,” Hemsley said. “And you don’t have to travel to Mexico to do it. You can do it right here in Maryland.”

The windy Russian autumn weather might be a little bit tricky for sailing, but it doesn’t stop brave yachtsmen from all over the world from flocking to Russian capital in the beginning of September when the Moscow Yacht Show commences. The main Russian Yacht exhibition gathers professional and amateur yacht lovers together under the wing of The Royal Yacht Club.

This year it took place for a fourth time already. The exhibition is considered the principal event on the sporting and social calendar. The Moscow Yacht Show 2010 united in one area three of the largest Russian yachts distributors: Ultramarine, Nordmarine and Premium Yachts.

A wide range of yachts were on display for a week. An exhibition showcased yachts both from Russian manufacturers and world famous brands: Azimut, Princess, Ferretti, Pershing, Riviera, Doral, Linssen, etc.

It was a real feast for seafarers as visitors of the show had a unique chance not only to take a look at the newest superyachts before they hit the market, but also to evaluate their driving advantages during the test drive. The show provided an excellent opportunity for yacht enthusiasts to choose and buy a new boat for the next season.

The event started with the grandiose gala evening. It included grand dinner, the concert and professional awards ceremony for achievements in Russian yachting industry. The guests also enjoyed the annual regatta.

Special guest Paolo Vitelli, Azimut Benetti Group president, opened the evening.

Next year organizers assured guests they would bring more yachts, the scale of which will even make oligarch Roman Abramovich envious. Sounds very promising indeed.
