Step onboard the Elite Charters luxury 39ft catamaran yacht at Club Mykonos Marina and enjoy the perfect way to explore the Langebaan lagoon and view the ultimate sunset.

A leisurely 2 hour cruise departs from Club Mykonos Marena daily at 11am, 2pm and 5pm. Experienced crew will make you feel at home and refreshments are served at the cash bar with card facilities. These trips are shared with other guests and a minimum of 6 people are required. A cruise is R300pp for a 2 hour excursion, R200 for children u/12 and under 6 is Free.

A popular cruise is the 3 hour Braai Cruise to Kraalbaai at the West Coast National Park , this yacht can accommodate up to 40 people. Kraalbaai is known to have breathtaking crystal clear shallow water and the braai spots has magnificent panoramic views of the lagoon.

Mother Nature has blessed Langebaan with the best beaches on the West Coast.  From family-friendly, to hidden gems that offers exclusivity,  Langebaan has them all. The safe and flat waters of the lagoon, the miles of white beaches, create not only a watersport paradise, but for all sun and adventure seekers, the perfect getaway. Each one has its own character, so make your choice and EXPLORE!

Klein Oostewal /Shark bay Beach

As the most southern beach, it got its nickname from the sand-sharks. It is very popular with the locals and the best spot for kitesurfing training as the south easterly winds blows you back to shore. There is no sea current and than therefor very safe to swim. It has public toilets, showers and restaurant with the best roof views. Parking is limited, so get there early to enjoy this family-friendly beach.

Main Beach    

This is the longest and official main beach, right off the CBD, stretching from Park board Offices to sand bags. it has a special designated swimming area, kite and windsurf area. It is perfect for sunset walks. It has public toilet in Bree street, parking in Bree and Dwars street. Can become overcrowded and there is no protection from the strong southern winds. It has lots of restaurants close by and favorite place to celebrate new Year, with hundreds of others.

Sandbaai 

This very narrow beach runs from Yacht club to Park Board Offices. It edges on old beach front houses and more being used by  homeowners to moar their boats in season and park their hobie cats and rubber ducks. Extremely limited parking. Beach access only by Uitsig street and Marine drive. perfect if you have very small ones under constant supervision. No toilets, no restaurants. 

Main Beach 2

This section of the main beach is reclaimed back from the sea as it was previously washed away. It now creates a protected little bay, and is very popular with windsurfers to launch from. It runs from the sandbags to the public parking area. Lots of well known restaurants service this area and it has public toilets.

Strandloper  Beach

This section of the beach is very small and named after famous restaurant that is situated here. Parking is limited and no public toilets. It is the traditional swimming area for the Sea View Park residents . It has a lot of rock outcrops which forms a natural tidal pool with high tide. Can become overcrowded.

Leentjiesklip 1 Beach

This beach stretches parallel to the Leentjiesklip Caravan Park and the Cove development.  It only has access by the Caravan Park and  mostly used by the campers. This area is extremely sensitive to sea erosion and therefore no walking on dunes allowed. No public toilets or parking.

Leentjiesklip 2 Beach/ Calypso Beach

This beach  stretches  parallel to the Waterfront- and Calypso Residential Developments. There is no public toilets but  public parking areas are available  at the Waterfront and Calypso entrances. Good swimming conditions ,good wave action, but be aware of sea currents. Less  frequent visitors.

Leentjiesklip 3/ Hobie beach

This beach is very popular and receive its nickname from Hobie - and rubber duck world championships, that took place here. It has a variety of restaurants to choose from, very popular sunset and leisure area. has public toilets and parking available and access is available through Casino entrance. Can become very crowded.

Paradise Beach 

This beach as the most northern beach in town and main access point, is  through Club Mykonos. The only alternative  way is via  Laguna Sands, or by boat. The bay is protected from strong winds and create  the best opportunity for walking miles along the beach or for horse riding. It is very popular for offshore fishing and the locals call it "Spreeuwalle" . No public toilets or public parking, but here you appreciate the raw beauty of the West Coast.. 

Kraalbaai Beach

The most popular beach with the locals and easy  and free accessible by boat. Perfect for all watersports as it is protected from strong southern winds. Warm water creates perfect swimming conditions for the whole family. Very overcrowded in peak season. By road, travel distance is 37 km, and entrance fee is payable at the Park's gate.Public parking and toilets available and the only beach with braai facilities.  The perfect beach for fun under the West Coast sun.

Churchhaven Beach

This picture perfect beach is the hidden gem on the West Coast. The breathtaking scenery is located in the West Coast National Park and entry fee is payable at Park entrance. Only accessible by road. No public toilets and for the perfect experience, book accommodation to appreciate the sunsets and romantic hide away.

All the beaches in Langebaan are under the authority of the National Parks Board and the following are applicable to all beaches:

Some beaches no activities other than swimming allowed in the safe swimming area demarcated by the buoy line.

Bait collection and fishing strictly by permit only

Kitesurfing and windsurfing only allowed in designated areas indicated by signage.

The Boatyard is conveniently situated at a world class marina at  Club Mykonos  in Langebaan on the West Coast and is approximately 126km from Cape Town.

The Boatyard is a boat & general storage facility. We have five different size storage units (258) to accommodate your needs.

We offer the following:

• 24 hour security (cameras & recording)

• 258 Lock up garages and outside parking for up to 60 boats

• Boat owners who make use of lockable units get two free launches and washes of their boat per month and thereafter a fee of R350.00 per launch is charged

• Workshop for repairs and maintenance

• Certificate of Fitness renewal by accredited persons

• West Coast National Park lagoon permit renewal

• Marine shop for any boating needs

• Access to slipway

• Fuel station at the Marina

We have a Long Term Agreement (12 months or longer), a Short Term Agreement (month to month) and daily rates.

This course is aimed at the learner who wants to enter into the Superyacht Industry at a RYA Yachtmaster Coastal Level. We cover all aspects of training from RYA Competent Crew to RYA Yachtmaster Coastal – including, SRC (VHF), Deckhand / Superyacht Training, RYA PBII, RYA PWC, RYA Radar, RYA Diesel Engine and the outsourced course STCW 2010.

The Commercial Yachtmaster Offshore course provides the training, practical experience and preparation for gaining a commercially endorsed RYA / MCA Yachtmaster Offshore certificate. Successful graduates are able to work on a variety of sailing & motor yachts, including charter skipper, flotilla skipper or corporate day sailing.

Interesting Samara Facts You Should Know

Samara has lit up Russia’s Volga region since Soviet times. Formerly a closed city, Samara was strategic to wartime and space aspirations. Discover the grand plans held for this port city during Soviet times and more, with these fascinating facts about Samara.

Stalin’s secret bunker is buried 37 metres below samara.

Built in 1942, it took almost 50 years for locals to discover Stalin’s hidden underground bunker. The secret hideout is 37 metres below ground, around the depth of a 12-story building. It can hold up to 115 people for up to five days before air supplies run out.

Samara used to be called ‘Kuibyshev’

When the Bolsheviks entered the city in 1918, it marked the start of the city’s Sovietisation. During the Soviet era, the city was renamed after Valerian Kuibyshev, a Bolshevik politician who went on to lead the local Soviet party. The town’s main square retains the name to commemorate this particular epoch of Samara ‘s history.

Pirates used to hide in the Zhiguli Mountains

A day trip out of Samara, the Zhiguli Mountains offer the perfect opportunity to explore the region’s natural beauty. The mountain range used to hide pirates back in the day. Around the ‘Samara Bend’, the naturally occurring hairpin bend just out of the city created a perfect opportunity for pirates to ambush cargo ships and then flee into the cavernous expanse of the mountains.

There’s an asteroid named after Samara

Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst was a prolific asteroid spotter, and in his lifetime discovered over 3,000 minor planets. In October 1996, he discovered and named the asteroid 26922 Samara after the Russian city and river.

There is a real rocket as a statue

Outside the Samara Space Museum, a real-life Vostok rocket has been erected to commemorate Samara’s contribution to the Soviet space race. A closed city during Soviet times, space rockets, including Vostoks, were manufactured here. It is the rocket model that catapulted Yuri Gagarin into space, heralding the Soviets as space pioneers.

Samara is home to the iconic Soviet beer brand, Zhigulevskoye

The Zhiguli Brewery was founded in 1881 and went on to produce the iconic beer of Soviet times, Zhigulevskoye . The brewery had already gained a reputation for producing quality beers before it was seized by the Bolsheviks in 1918. Through the tumultuous Soviet era, the brewery survived food shortages and industrial collectivisation and still produces Zhigulevskoye to this day.

One of the largest squares in the world is found in Samara

At 174,000 square meters, Kuibyshev Square is bigger than London’s Trafalgar Square and Moscow’s Red Square and just under half the size of Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. The Samara Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre is located within the square. Kuibyshev Square is the FIFA World Cup 2018 Fan Fest Zone for Samara.

In WWII, a lot of VIPs from Moscow were moved to Samara, including its soviet football team

During the Second World War, Samara was earmarked to be a new industrial hub. Factories in western Russia were at risk of being seized by the Germans and so the Soviet regime sought to push its important industries into the safer strongholds of cities like Samara. Given its easterly location, Samara, or Kuibyshev as it was called then, would have become the Soviet capital if the Germans had captured Moscow. In addition to moving industries, a number of important politicians, artists and athletes were moved across, including Moscow’s footballers. In 1942, they formed Samara’s local team, Krylya Sovetov FC, otherwise known as ‘Wings of the Soviets’. They are now play in the country’s second division, the Russia Football National League.
