The Trismus 37 is a 36.75ft cutter designed by Morgan Embroden / JP Brouns and built in fiberglass resin infusion with balsa sandwich deck and hull by Chantiers navals d'herbignac (FR) between 1975 and 1981.

200 units have been built., it accomodates 7 people in 2 cabins plus salon..

The Trismus 37 is a heavy sailboat which is a reasonably good performer. It is reasonably stable / stiff and has an excellent righting capability if capsized. It is best suited as a bluewater cruising boat. The fuel capacity is originally small. There is a short water supply range.

Sold: Trismus 37 sailing yacht with swingkeel, well equipped and splendid wooden interior

General: The Trismus 37 has been professionally built at the Chantier Naval shipyard in Vilvoorde, Belgium. The swingkeel provides a variable draft, so that the sailing area is almost unlimited. The sailing yacht can also fall dry on her box keel of 60 cm wide. The sword is operated with a hand winch in the cabin. A second smaller sword ensures optimal course stability and can be operated in the cockpit. The steering wheel is equipped with a hydraulic transmission to the transom attached rudder. There is a lot of space on deck for sail handling and is fitted with anti-slip mats. The spacious cockpit can be covered with a cockpit tent or Bimini. Cockpit seats, floor and bridge deck are finished with teak. The sheets are operated from the cockpit with the self-tailing winches. The mainsail is trimmed with the traveler. The fixed sprayhood with plexiglass windows provides shelter for the crew with optimal forward visibility. Navigation equipment, such as a chart plotter and autopilot control, is placed under the sprayhood. The 37 hp Nanni diesel engine was newly fitted in 2001. An electric bow thruster and anchor winch are also included in the equipment.

Interior: The interior has been professionally constructed with stylish woodwork. The interior layout is practical with ample storage space. Next to the companionway entrance is the aft cabin with a double bed on the port side. On the starboard side is a Heads with hand pump toilet, waste water tank and sink. There is space for hanging wet sailing clothes as well. At portside is a fully equipped galley, with double sink, gimballed stove with oven and compressor coolbox. A boiler provides hot running water. The sword casing is well integrated with the galley and forms no obstacle. On the starboard side is a chart table with a seat, switch panel and equipment, such as a radio / CD player, VHF radio and heating thermostat. Forward is the seating with wooden table and comfortable benches. The settee can be used as extra sleeping places. In the front is a spacious V-bed which can be separated by a curtain. Various hatches and portholes provide sufficient ventilation.

Looking for info on French design - Trismus 37

Does anyone know anything about a French (or Belgium) design called the Trismus 37? It was designed by van God I think. Built in GRP and Aluminium. I am looking at purchasing an Aluminium one built around 1984 but can find nothing about the history of them, number built, reputation etc. Thanks for your help. Peter

A McDonald’s franchisee claims the burger titan is trying to force him to sell his 37 locations because he failed to meet “national franchising standards” — and that one executive falsely accused him of planning to illegally hire migrants.

McDonald’s “is wrongfully scheming” to oust George Michell, and “to steal the value of his businesses from him,” he said in a Brooklyn Federal Court lawsuit against Mickey D’s and three of its executives.

Michell runs seven franchises in Brooklyn, as well as others in New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts, which raked in more than $158 million in revenue in 2023.

Michell, who is Hispanic, was fined $1 million in November 2022 for violating workplace rules in New York City, but contends in court papers that other, white franchisees with similar fines have not faced the same pressure from McDonald’s.

He claims McDonald’s executives sat him down after his fine became public, told him they wanted him “out of the system,” and urged him to sell — or they would let his franchise agreements expire without renewal, according to the legal filing.

He contends he never suggested illegally hiring migrants, instead only answering a request from the company asking which owners would be interested in employing migrants when they were eligible.

Michell, who is seeking unspecified damages, claims in the litigation that his efforts to stay in the McDonald’s system “are being rebuffed.”

McDonald’s called the allegations “meritless” and said they “do not reflect McDonald’s commitment to empowering diversity of talent and ownership in our franchisee community.”
