The Superyacht Gathering to hold inaugural rendezvous in Fiji
South Pacific-based organisation The Superyacht Gathering has announced it will host its inaugural rendezvous in Fiji in August 2024.
The programme will feature friendly regattas raced around the Fijian islands, interspersed with “barefoot beach parties” to allow owners from Oceania and further afield to meet. The event is open to sailing and motor yachts 22 metres and above, with $500 from each yacht entry being donated to the Fiji Yachting Association’s Kids Sailing Program.
The Fiji Yachting Association has also deeded the historic 1997 President’s Cup as the winning prize and will be running the races in partnership with Australia’s Southport Yacht Club. The yacht’s name and year will sit on the plinth along with “some of the great racing yachts of the South Pacific”.
“The Superyacht Gathering is all about building a strong community of owners and industry professionals in the South Pacific,” explained founder Linda Berry. “Together, we are working towards luring superyachts away from traditional cruising areas so that they can discover what this stunning region has to offer.”
This follows the success of the organisation’s gathering in Fiji last year, which saw 47 local and international guests from Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Ecuador, the UK and the US attend.

The 40th Anniversary Musket Cove Fiji Regatta week was launched yesterday at Musket Cove Island Resort.
The week-long event will be held from September 11-15 2024.

The RSYC is a club promoting yachting, boating, navigation and seamanship. The club is open to the public although it is a requirement that visitors are signed in by a member. The club has a bar and a small restaurant plus facilities that can be hired for private functions.
The Royal Suva Yacht Club was founded in 1940 by the first Commodore C T.M. McGuire. The Royal Suva Yacht Club offers a complete range of facilities to boat owners plus social facilities for its members. They also host Game Fishing competitions and promote junior sailing.
Located in Walu Bay, Suva, the club offers a great view of tropical sunsets with a garden bar and Galley Restaurant which offers great meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner with last orders at 9pm. The restaurant is closed on Mondays. Security is provided on a 24 hour basis and it is open seven days a week.
The club’s history is evident throughout the club premises with memorabilia in abundance via trophies and photos. Fiji’s oldest pilot boat, possibly the oldest Fiji made sailboat, is also moored at the RYSC. The club hosts private events and club events with the various facilities available for hire. The club also features International rugby events, shown on a large screen via live television.

The Royal Suva Yacht Club. Anchorage in the Suva Harbour is shared by fishing boats, freighters, yachts, and cruise liners. If you prefer to use a marina facility, the Royal Suva Yacht Club is the place to go. The club was founded around 1930 and while originally located closer to town, the current building in Walu Bay was built circa 1940.
