Her clean hull lines and wide beam aft are the foundation for the outstanding space and capabilities of the Oyster 495. She incorporates many of our big yacht features in a compact 50 foot yacht. Instantly recognisable as an Oyster, the Oyster 495 features our pioneering deck saloon, protected cockpit and helm stations, wraparound and forward-opening saloon windows. Flush decks, signature triple vertical seascape windows, foredeck skyscape windows, a powerful plumb bow and extended bowsprit complete the look.

We were the first boat builder to create a truly ergonomically designed cockpit and helm positions, with sprayhood and optional bimini for additional protection. Details like the cockpit table, with optional built-in refrigerated drinks locker, that comfortably seats up to eight people, is just one of the many triumphs of Oyster design thinking.

The yacht is equipped with twin 370 hp Yanmar engines that enable a top speed of 31 knots. Her length combined with a relatively modest beam of roughly 14 feet translates to minimal bow lift and comfortable cruising on choppy seas. In fact, Salthouse even put the M49 to the test in the punishing waters surrounding New Zealand and it passed with flying colors.

"DreamScape" is easily boarded from her side decks which lead easily forward with high rails for access to the bow or aft through wing doors into the upper salon. The upper salon has windows on either side and a sliding glass aft bulkhead that leads to the covered aft deck with isenglass enclosure. This aft deck area can be easily opened up for nice weather days but is still useable with its enclosure in any conditions. A ladder leads from the aft deck down to the swim platform. Forward of the upper salon is an entertainment center with wetbar and doorway access to the flybridge and helm or down to the lower salon and galley. The lower salon has a large built in dinette and a galley that features household sized appliances. Forward of the galley is a companionway down to the VIP stateroom in the bow with centerline double and abundant locker and storage space. The companionway is large and open and features a laundry and utility area. The VIP head features a stall shower. Stand up doorway access to the engine room is also found forward.

Aft of the lower salon and galley is a companionway back to a third guest stateroom that is neatly configured to be a great den area with a sofa and TV as well as its own head with shower. The sofa converts down easily to a double berth creating a very useable third stateroom. In the companionway there is additional storage lockers and it leads back to a very spacious master stateroom with centerline queen bed, sitting area with TV and its own private head with stall shower. As with all of the boat, there is abundant hanging locker space and storage in the master stateroom.

BMW Just Unveiled a New 49-Foot Electric Foiling Yacht That Glides Over the Water

BMW and Tyde may have just proved bigger equals better.

The German marque and boatmaker have teamed up to create a larger, more lavish successor to the electric foiling yacht they debuted at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in May. The new 49-foot Open has a good six feet on the previous 43-foot Icon . In fact, BMW claims the newcomer is the largest luxury foiling yacht for private owners.

"With the Icon , we have shown how elegant and luxurious sustainable mobility on the water can be," Christoph Ballin, cofounder and managing director of Tyde, said in a statement. "The continuation of the cooperation with BMW is now fueling the launch into another segment."

Once again penned by the folks at BMW's Designworks studio, Open is equipped with hydrofoils adapted from racing yachts that significantly reduce energy consumption. Indeed, the setup saves almost 80 percent of energy, according to the design team. Essentially, the foils allow the vessel to glide over the water with minimal drag, wake, and emissions.

As you might expect, the yacht features radical innovations developed by BMW for the automotive sector. The marque is again contributing components and expertise from the field of electromobility. The designers didn't give any figures regarding Open's speed or range, but Icon has a top speed of 30 knots, a cruising speed of 24 knots, and a range of more than 50 nautical miles on a single charge.

 "Our aim is to use pioneering design and intelligent technology transfer from the automotive sector to provide additional impetus for the BMW-typical joy of sustainable mobility," adds Stefan Ponikva, vice president of brand communication and brand experience for BMW. 

As its moniker implies, Open features a breezy open cockpit that connects guests with the sea. It offers "all the amenities of a luxury day yacht," according to the team. The futuristic exterior is balanced by a classic interior. Light streams in from both the top and sides, ensuring the salon is bright and airy. Open is now available to order, with production set to start later this month. The first examples will be delivered in the fall of 2024.

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – A United States Coast Guard boat crew aided 3 people aboard a 49-foot disabled sailing vessel off Port Canaveral, Florida, on Saturday around 2 a.m.

The boat crew safely towed the vessel to Jetty Park.

Commercial salvage was unable to assist due to unsafe weather conditions.

Overnight rescue in Port Canaveral: US Coast Guard saves three from disabled sailboat

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) said three people needed to be rescued after the 49-foot boat they were on became disabled at around 2 a.m. (USCG)

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. (CBS12) — Three people were rescued off the coast of Port Canaveral in an overnight rescue on Saturday.

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) said a group needed to be rescued after the 49-foot boat they were on became disabled at around 2 a.m.

When the USCG arrived they found the sailboat, but the commercial salvage crews were unable to assist due to unsafe weather conditions, the USCG said. So, the USCG boat crew hitched and towed the vessel to Jetty Park.
