A TV station that focuses on the world of Superyachts is long overdue but finally, Superyacht TV the first luxury television station dedicated to superyachts and life on board has arrived.

Based out of Monaco, the Mediterranean principality with yachting in its DNA, the station broadcasts premium quality programming centred on six categories – yachts, destinations, life on board, events, tenders and toys, and the creators – to showcase the industry and the yachting lifestyle to a global audience of 30,000,000.

The founders:

Superyacht TV was founded by film and television producer Christian Moore, son of actor Roger Moore, Patrick Coote, an established yachting industry professional, and Space Systems International (SSI)-Monaco, an integrated telecommunications provider specialized in satellite telecommunications. It is the first television channel for SSI-Monaco.

How can you watch it?

The channel is broadcast 24/7 and is free-to-view online at www.superyacht.tv , on mobile devices via the Superyacht TV app, or through your IP or satellite provider. The current satellite reach is 30,000,000 households, a figure that is growing every day.

The station is shown in Monaco on Chanel 88 and in important yachting markets such as Dubai, the Emirates and the MENA region via MonacoSat. Expansion into the UK and across Europe is planned for 2019.

The story so far

After a soft launch in January 2018, the channel has grown organically with the support of key players in the yachting industry, including LYBRA, Cluster Yachting Monaco, MYBA, The Superyacht Life Foundation, International Superyacht Society, and the Yacht Club de Monaco

“We are aiming to give a broad scope and as much visibility as possible to the industry.”

“Superyacht TV has the full support of the industry because we are a visual representation of yachting that hasn’t existed before.”

WATCH: The 2021 Monaco Yacht Show Superyacht Lineup

By Jenna Mehdi

With an average vessel length of 54m, the Monaco Yacht Show is the most renowned and elite celebration of large superyachts in the yachting calendar. In an exclusive new video produced by Superyachts.com, we give viewers a glimpse of the exceptional lineup they can expect to see grace the dockside of Port Hercules this year.

With just under two weeks to go before the yachting industry and the world super-rich make their way to the Principality of Monaco, anticipation has never been higher. And with some 80 superyachts exhibiting available for sale or charter, as well as 32 yachts enjoying their world premiere at the show, this year’s event promises to more than meet the hype.

The largest superyacht at the show, confirmed just this week, will be Benetti’s giga yacht flagship 108m IJE. Launched in 2019, IJE is the largest of Benetti’s three giga yachts, and features a timeless exterior by British studio Redman Whiteley Dixon. Also in attendance will be the iconic Lurssen mega yacht KISMET, exhibited by Moran Yacht & Ship, who will also be showcasing 74m Amels yacht PLVS VLTRA.

German shipyard Nobiskrug, now part of the Tennor Group, will showcase its award-winning hybrid superyacht ARTEFACT. Another example of exceptional superyacht sustainability will be showcased by Feadship, with 94m VIVA. Brokerage house Burgess will arrive in full force with a spectacular fleet including the likes of 92m TATOOSH, 86m C2, both for sale, as well as charter yachts 85m VICTORIOUS and 61m CLOUD 9. SilverYachts’ 85m BOLD will impress with her formidable looks, alongside naval-inspired 71m Lurssen superyacht SKAT. More classically elegant appearances will be made by Rossinavi’s new 80m POLARIS, or 72m Turquoise Yachts’ QUANTUM OF SOLACE. The latter is listed for sale with YPI, alongside the 52m Palmer Johnson yacht DB9.

Also on display will be Benetti’s new launch 65m ZAZOU, and another Benetti - 63m 11.11 - will be displayed by Y.CO (for sale and charter). Amels and Damen Yachting will showcase two separate branches of their capabilities with the sleek Amels 188 Volpini II and the YS 5009 shadow vessel TIME OFF. LA MASQUERADE, 55m Amels superyacht available for sale, will be exhibited by Cecil Wright & Partners. Other notable attendees include 49m Columbus Yachts’ K2, 80m Bilgin Yachts’ TATIANA - the largest superyacht built in Turkey - and 55m Heesen Yachts’ MOSKITO. Ocean Independence will exhibit 48m classic CRN yacht AZZURRA II, while SuperyachtsMonaco presents 50m Zepter Yachts’ JOYME.

This year’s edition will also feature a dedicated sailing yacht section, where visitors can admire exceptional sailing yachts including the likes of 33m Vitters’ RIBELLE, 45m Baltic Yachts’ PATH and 30m MORGANA.

For the complete list of superyachts exhibiting, please head to the Monaco Yacht Show’s official website.

Running from 28 September to 1 October, the Monaco Yacht Show 2022 will be attracting a fleet of superyachts and thousands of attendees to the Côte d'Azur for the 31st edition of the prestigious boat show.

For four days, Port Hercules will be a hive of activity as thousands of prospective clients and industry players descend on the French Riviera to explore what’s on display on the water and along the stands. Hundreds of exhibitors will be showing off their products and services, with top shipyards , brokerage houses and marine and luxury lifestyle stalls in attendance, along with brand-new areas being unveiled at this year's show.

What’s in store at this year’s show?

This year the show will unveil its brand-new Adventure Area and Sustainability Hub, alongside its popular Design & Innovation Hub and dockside areas committed to the exhibition of superyachts and tenders.

Sustainability Hub

With a renewed focus on sustainability and environmental protection initiatives, the Monaco Yacht Show 2022 will be unveiling its brand new exhibition space dedicated to the research and development of sustainable solutions in yachting.

The Sustainability Hub will also host a variety of exhibitions relating to green renewable solutions and pro-environmental projects in yachting.

Yacht Design and Innovation Hub

Complementing the Sustainability Area will be the popular Yacht Design and Innovation Hub, where the world’s most renowned yacht designers convene to showcase their latest projects, with various presentations on design and eco-responsible projects in yachting taking place in a conference room upstairs (free access). This year, the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub also welcomes the historic exhibitors of the Designer Gallery along the Louis Chiron bend of Port Hercules.

Adventure Area

A black and white image of a woman standing on an all-terrain vehicle with a superyacht in the background

Another new zone for 2022, visitors to the Adventure Area will find a huge array of tenders, all-terrain vehicles, nautical gadgets and equipment. These will be showcased in conjunction with a wide range of activities and services targeting the up-coming generation of superyacht clientele in response to the increase in demand by discerning yacht travellers seeking ever-more thrilling adventures and unique yachting experiences.

Dockside Area

The new Adventure Area will be located within the Dockside Area, home to the afloat exhibition of motor yachts and tenders on the Quai Antoine 1er, Port Hercule.

Please note that the Dockside area is only accessible to Discover, Sapphire and press passes on Wednesday September 28, with access to the general public from Thursday onwards.

Sailing Yacht Area

As in previous years, this area will be situated along the Quai l’Hirondelle, where visitors will be able to step aboard some of the most innovative and technologically advanced sailing yachts in the world, as well as meeting some of the esteemed builders and designers who help to create the magic.

Sapphire Experience

Introduced for the first time last year, the Sapphire Experience is a bespoke tour program for visitors interested in renting or buying a yacht, with a concierge team dedicated to creating a bespoke program of events tailored to take advantage of all there is to experience at the show in true VIP fashion; including scheduled visits on board yachts, attendance at gala evenings or private cocktails on board various luxury vessels. There is also an official Sapphire tender and courtesy car service.

In addition, there are dedicated VIP entrances and lounges for convenience and relaxation throughout the show.

How to get around the Monaco Yacht Show 2022

Monaco Yacht Show 2022 map

The show takes place entirely in Port Hercules, but there will also be a number of yachts available for viewing at anchor outside the port. A water taxi is available throughout the show, with seven pick-up and drop-off points conveniently located across the marina.

The official opening times for the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show are: 10.30am-6.30pm every day, except on Saturday when the doors open at 10am and close at 6pm.

What is the official MYS 2022 superyacht lineup?

Currently, with over 130 yachts set to attend this year’s show, including 74 yachts making their debuts in Monaco, the show promises plenty of standout vessels available to view.

One of the most exciting new yachts will be Lurssen’s 115m/378ft motor yacht AHPO . A recent addition to the charter fleet, she will be drawing in plenty of attention with her Nuvolari Lenard exterior styling and palatial interiors.

Charter yacht AHPO

On the same dock, Golden Yacht’s latest offering in the shape of 88m (289ft) superyacht Project X will also be causing a buzz. Freshly delivered, show-goers shouldn’t miss the opportunity to step on board to admire her beautiful Massari-designed interiors, as well as her 7.5-meter by 3-meter glass-enclosed swimming pool on her aft main deck and vast beach club featuring comfortable lounging area and bar, alongside a wellness suite with Hammam and Finnish Sauna.

Charter yacht PROJECT X

Another star of the show will be the 85m (279ft) luxury explorer yacht VICTORIOUS , who wowed visitors last year with her distinctive sleek lines culminating in a 2-meter bowsprit and impressive array of charter-rich features and family-friendly amenities, not to mention the luxury Rolls Royce perched on her helideck bow!

The 75m (247ft) superyacht KENSHÕ will also be making waves for those keen to experience her zen-calm interiors up-close. Launched earlier this year, the innovative vessel redefines the concept of space and layout, providing guests with the ultimate luxurious platform to relax, entertain and socialize onboard.

Where to eat at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022

In Port Hercules, there are a variety of options available for snacks and refreshments, including the Upper Deck Lounge bar & restaurant run by the renowned Fairmont Monte-Carlo, as well as the Sapphire Lounge – a VIP bar and dining experience open exclusively to Sapphire badge holders – both located near the Parvis Piscine entrance.

A couple toasting champagne glasses in the Upper Deck Lounge and Bar at the Monaco Yacht Show

Monaco itself has no shortage of restaurants to suit every occasion and palate during the show. For something more casual, Rue Princesse Caroline is lined with different restaurants that are well-suited to a light bite.

In the evenings, COYA Monte Carlo is where the in-crowd head for Latin-American fusion and a warm reception. The cocktail menu is expansive, so be sure to try one of their specialties and soak up the buzzy vibes as the evening wears on.

If it’s a sophisticated meal you’re after, Nobu is the ultimate choice. Expect a luxurious backdrop, a refined Japanese menu and a sensational taste experience among fellow show-goers.

Where to party after the Monaco Yacht Show 2022

As ever, Buddha-Bar will be one of the most popular venues for post-show partying in Monaco. The restaurant-bar crossover is a regular stop-off for those looking to dine and dance to the soundtrack of live DJ sets.

Twiga has a similar vibe, with a stellar menu coupled with an unrivalled club scene later in the evenings. Expect Methusalems of champagne topped with sparklers, dazzling entertainment and a no-holds-barred party vibe.

Twiga will be hosting plenty of Monaco Yacht Show-themed parties over the course of the show, so you’d be remiss not to pay the venue a visit, even if it’s just for a cocktail on the terrace.

For a true taste of French Riviera party life, look no further than Jimmy’z. This iconic club will be in full swing over the course of the Monaco Yacht Show, and will be amping up the entertainment with live performances from dance troupes and deck-spinning DJs.

Where to relax after the Monaco Yacht Show 2022

After the show, take the time to unwind and soak up the last of the Mediterranean sun.

Nikki Beach Monte Carlo is still going strong on the roof of the Fairmont Hotel, and offers poolside lounging and a summery soundtrack throughout the day, offset by spectacular views over Port Hercules and the yachts at anchor opposite the marina.

A little outside Monaco in the small town of Eze lies one of the best-kept secrets in the South of France. Anjuna Plage occupies a thin sliver of beach, and boasts a premier restaurant, boutique shop and a laid-back vibe that makes it a fan favourite. Best accessed by yacht, it also has a roster of A-list clientele.

Where to visit after the Monaco Yacht Show 2022

The French Riviera is one of the most beautiful regions in the Mediterranean and has no end of things to see and do. In Monaco, visitors can explore the decadent Monte Carlo casino, browse the Private Collection of Antique Cars of H.S.H. Prince Rainier III or admire the incredible selection of marine life at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco.

Afterwards, stop by neighbouring Menton to visit Mirazur, a restaurant that was named the Best in the World for 2019.  Then, pay a visit to the Val Rahmen Exotic Gardens for an afternoon of botanical bliss.

superyacht tv monaco

Head over to Nice for a day of sightseeing and walking the cobbled streets of the city, taking the time to explore the famous Matisse Museum and the pink palace of Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild.

Those looking to travel even further afield can stop by the spa at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes or take a boat ride out to the Lérins Islands  outside the bay of Cannes , where you will find the famous Abbey and the superyacht hotspot of La Guerite, a beach club and restaurant on the island.

Projections and innovations for a growing industry

Cluster yachting monaco open day, projections and nnovations for a growing industry.

The Cluster Yachting Monaco convened a hundred yachting professionals and a fleet of yachts moored in the YCM Marina for its first Open Day 2024. The meeting was a chance to take stock of the sector as it stands and make forecasts for 2030. “ The industry must set itself apart in the best possible way. Our Cluster is always cited as a reference and is one of the best in the world. We must keep up the momentum,”  began Bernard d’Alessandri, Cluster Yachting Monaco President and General Secretary of the Yacht Club de Monaco.

superyacht tv monaco

After a presentation on statistics for the sector in 2024 by Katia Damborsky from Boat International, there were two sessions in the form of panels dealing with yachting’s evolution in the immediate future with a 360° vision of the different players involved and their commitment to sustainability.

All delegates also had an opportunity to visit the 15 yachts moored in the YCM Marina, presented by Sanlorenzo, Oceanco, Novamarine, RIB, Riva, Pardo, Saialia Yachts, Baltic Yachts, Dominator Yacht, Costruzioni Navali Tigullio, Palmer Johnson, Overmarine, Feadship and Philip Zepter Yachts.

A market on the up

With a fleet where the average age is 23 years, the market currently comprises 10,729 motor yachts and 1,897 sailing yachts. There are 1,166 projects under construction or on order with Italy dominating this aspect on 51.4%, even though the country only represents 40.1% of global production in gross tonnage terms.

Superyacht production has doubled in the last decade with 132 in-build. Germany leads on average length of superyachts in construction with 94.4m, followed by the Netherlands on 62m. Yachts customised by their owners represent 63.3% of the global fleet.

Trends and innovations

International trends for 2024 show a marked preference for diesel engines, far outperforming hybrid and diesel/electric engines.  The event also discussed the increase in use of Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (HVO). Feadship has taken another step towards its goal to produce carbon neutral superyachts by 2030, with the  Obsidian,  an 84.2m superyacht that can run on a HVO non-fossil diesel fuel. Not to be out done Sanlorenzo is also testing this new clean emission biofuel on the 44m  Lammouche .

Sustainability and energy efficiency

Optimising hull designs for better fuel efficiency, cleaner more efficient engines, hybrid, diesel-electric, and electric engines, rigid sails, HVO/bio fuels, solar energy, hydrogen / green hydrogen, methanol / green methanol and sustainable innovations are all solutions available now to improve vessel sustainability.

What future for yachting

What will the sector look like by 2030? A range of panellists attempted to answer this question by making overall projections for the industry. “ In my opinion the 360° approach is the most interesting,”  observed  Artur Poloczanski , Public Relations Director at Sunreef. “ You have to know how to optimise a yacht to achieve the sustainability objective”.

Anticipation is also key, as Covership Insurance Associate Director  Vincent Huens de Brouwer  pointed out: “ We prefer to be involved from the start to adapt and better understand the needs. No new solution is excluded” . An overview is essential including “ how the boat will be used and the ports where it will be berthed ,” said  Camille Lopez , President of Hy-Plug. All agree that owners must be encouraged to take sustainability into account. “ We need more sustainable offers. Customers want to go in this direction, but there is still a lack of affordable solutions,”  admitted  David Legrand , broker at Fraser. “ For the 30-50m segment, 90% of customers are interested in a more ecological approach but find the solutions are still too expensive”.

What solutions to convince the market?

“ We need to invite potential customers to test solutions at sea,”  recommended Artur Poloczanski. It is also crucial to get regulations out there and keep their impact in mind. “ Whether in ports, banks, insurance, etc. regulations affect all sectors,”  explained David Legrand. Camille Lopez added: “ Some regulations already exist, others are being developed. It is essential to comply with them” . An observation for medium-size yachts is that customers are still looking for comfort more than sustainability.

Sustainability in new projects is driving the industry but solutions must also be found for the existing ageing fleet. “ We have more and more boats in the current fleet ,” said  Arthur Bohr  Monaco Site Director from Monaco Marine. “ We need to find a solution for their destruction”.

“ If everyone in the industry got involved, we would be proud and ready to commit to a better future for yachting,”  concluded Vincent Huens de Brouwer. Awareness-raising is critical knowing customers prefer simple solutions. It is important to identify existing solutions to reduce pollution and go with those approved by the shipyards, not forgetting the importance of comparative analyses.

A year of celebration

On 10 th  June 2024, Cluster Yachting Monaco members will meet again to celebrate ten years of the association. Founded in 2014 by Bernard d’Alessandri, the Cluster Yachting Monaco is one of the first in the world solely intended for yachting sector stakeholders. It is in line with actions taken by a government-led committee (Conseil Stratégique pour l’attractivité) with the aim being to provide a platform for dialogue with decision-making authorities. Defined as a centre of competitiveness uniting a hundred interdependent organisations and companies working in the same sector, the Cluster has proved to be a unifying force

Tasteful goodie bags filled with gifts - including perfume and hair combs - were also given out as party favours.

He exclusively  told The Sun : "There was a party put on for me at the yacht club, it was a bit overwhelming.

"I consider myself just to be a nobody so for them to go out of their way and and put a party on for me, sometimes you've got to pinch yourself that these things are actually happening.

"The welcome here has been immense, I can only thank the people of Monaco."

On his UK exit, Best previously said: “Look, I love Britain through and through but it seems we've lost our way.

"We're chasing our business entrepreneurs out the front door.

"Sir Jim Radcliffe's left, Sir James Dyson said he’d never leave but he went, Richard Branson's left, too.

“The list goes on. They can't all be wrong."

As well as his holiday  property empire , Alfie is also the owner of non-league East Thurrock United, which he snapped up during  Covid .

His immense net worth climbed a further £202 million in the last year - meaning he is well on track to becoming Britain’s first Romany Gypsy billionaire.

Vuelta a España Set for ‘Big Start’ out of Monaco in 2026

Officials confirm opening stage of 2026 vuelta to play out entirely within the super-wealthy micro state, details of following stages to be confirmed..

The Vuelta a España will roll out of the megabucks micro state of Monaco in 2026, officials confirmed Thursday.

The first stage of La Vuelta ’26 will be contained entirely within the few-kilometer square footprint of Monaco.

It has not been confirmed whether the race will remain in the wildly-wealthy tax-haven territory for a second and third stage, as is typical of foreign starts.

“This decision has been made official during an event held in the Yacht Club de Monaco with an agreement signed between H.E M. Pierre Dartout, Minister of State of the Principality, Yann Le Moenner, C.E.O. of Amaury Sport Organisation, and Javier Guillén, General Director of La Vuelta, in the presence of H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco,” read a press statement Thursday.

“The 81st edition of the race will, thus, celebrate a grand departure on international territory once again, following previous departures from  Portugal, the Netherlands, and France.”

Monaco is not a stranger to cycling.

It plays home-from-home for dozens of the WorldTour elite, including Tadej Pogacar, and staged the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in 2009. The French Tour returns to the state this summer when it hosts the start of the hotly-hyped final stage mountain time trial into Nice.

What might the opening stage of the 2026 Vuelta look like?

The Grand Départ of the 2009 Tour de France was a 15.5km individual time trial, so that could be a clue.

Reigning Vuelta a España champion Sepp Kuss will roll out of Lisbon, Portugal when he kick-starts his red jersey defense this August 17.

The 2024 Vuelta a España will remain in Portugal for two more days before it returns to home soil for stage 4 out of Plasencia.

The Vuelta’s last Gran Salida  was in 2022, when stages 1-3 were hosted by the Netherlands.

Details of the start for next year’s race are to be confirmed, but it’s likely to be set in Spain.
