This Private Yacht Is the Most Romantic Place in Paris

Considering the perfect place to propose? Look no further.

Textile mogul Pierre Frey ’s appropriately named boat, Cachemire , with its gorgeously restored and appointed interiors, may be the ideal place in which to mark a major milestone. Just ask Mr. Frey, who finished overhauling the vessel in time for his father’s birthday celebration.

“It was spectacular,” he recalls of the recent event aboard Cachemire , which can accommodate parties of up to 14 guests. “Every aspect of the experience was fantastic—from the quality of the food and services to the views of Paris as seen from the river. Even as a Parisian, I was impressed by the unique and extraordinary views of the city.”

Whether seated at an elegantly set dining table on chairs upholstered in Frey’s own namesake French cashmere, or before a fireplace—yes, a fireplace —in the cozy lounge nook, or on the breezy rear deck, it’s impossible to find a poor spot onboard from which to take in the views of Notre Dame cathedral and the Eiffel Tower. Even the floor, covered in a sumptuous custom carpet, is worth marveling.

Cachemire can be booked directly through Yachts de Paris seven days a week, year-round. The minimum fee is $3,425 for four hours, not including food or beverage. And if there’s one thing a trip like this calls for, it’s a glass or two of good champagne.

One of the best experiences in Paris. If you haven't been on a river cruise (or even if you have), Yachts de Paris is definitely worth trying. The cruise/water is smooth, staff is friendly, food is amazing (especially for a river cruise) and the evening scenery is breathtaking. With the right company/friends or for a moment of quiet solace, this river cruise is one of the best. Enjoy!

I will NEVER forget our experience here at Yacht de Paris. BEST FOOD WE'VE EVER HAD. Yacht was SO BEAUTIFUL! Staff has the best customer service. Everyone speaks english Yacht de Paris was the MOST ROMANTIC DINNER EXPERIENCE we've ever had and if we have a chance to visit Paris, France again, we will do visit this place again. Thank you everyone for giving us the best proposal day ever.

A little over a year ago I began planning my sister's Parisian wedding. The wonderful staff at Yachts de Paris made everything easy, comfortable, and stunning. I worked with Aglae and Aurore for the initial contracts and billing. I worked with Jessica and Anais for the planning of the details. No matter when I emailed or what I asked they were always friendly, responsive, and offered wonderful suggestions. On the wedding day we heard that traffic was a nightmare. Apparently all of the traffic was in getting to our hotel and not getting to the dock. We arrived very early and had to wait alongside the dock for a bit. The staff of Yachts de Paris (especially Isabelle) were gracious in letting us on board a little early even though they were still setting up. At 7:00 pm I helped bring my sister up onto the top deck of the yacht and watched her walk down the aisle to her future husband. Immediately after the ceremony we enjoyed cocktail hour with champagne, an open bar, and passed hor d' oeurves. We then watched as the couple had stunning photographs taken of them before taking group photos. At 8:30 pm we went down into the dining room for a 4 course meal. Our starter was an Antipasti with Buffalo Mozzarella (Foie Gras for those with a dairy allergy). Our entree was Veal vegetables (Hake for dairy allergy). Next was a Cheese Course. For dessert we enjoyed the Power of Chocolate (Fruit Salad for dairy allergy). The food was elegantly presented, beautifully seasoned, and perfect portions. Guests raved about the food especially the veal. In between the courses we enjoyed several speeches (even one from me which I'm petrified to do) and a couple of special dances. Isabelle and our wedding singer were very helpful in the timing of these events. Next came the incredible cake ceremony (with sparklers and all). After dinner it was time to dance! We enjoyed music from a DJ as well as a singer. The evening was truly magical!

We took the Don Juan 2 dinner cruise Second to the last night of our stay in Paris. I cannot say enough good things about the food and the experience. The crew started with seating us on the upper deck with glasses of champagne & appetizers. The staff offered to take our picture with our phone when they noticed we were attempting poorly to do so ourselves. Once on our way the staff or ushered us downstairs to our table, all of them have an awesome view. As the sunset we ate the most spectacular meal we've ever eaten watching the Seine come alive. I cannot emphasize this enough, the experience was awesome but the food was incredible! I will remember this meal for the rest of my life. After the main course, perfectly timed, we pull up to the Eiffel Tower on the hour, when its lights sparkle for a minute. We were given warm blankets and escorted to the upper deck where everyone gasped over the beauty of Paris at night. we returned below deck for a cheese course and then dessert and coffee. The staff asked if we needed a cab and called ahead so one would be ready when we disembarked. Everything was perfectly timed down to the moment. If you ever want to propose or have a romantic moment this is the cruise for you! I went with my friend and we left our husbands at home, Lol, but I have to say at that moment I missed him horribly

I can't understand how this gets more than one star. The maitre d was an ass...the rest of the service was ok...the food was embarrassingly bad - gagged. How dare they charge what they charged! Total rip off and pretty much in edible. I could have had four amazing meals and feel stupid for thinking this was a good idea. Ugh. Totally now worth it.

We were aboard this boat 10 yrs earlier and wanted another experience. As before...very professional crew and solid food. It's beautiful to see Paris' famous attractions from the perspective of the Seine, at night. 270€ per person for tasting menu (including drinks)

A great cruise to see Paris at night, very romantic, and great crew. They were able to locate my cellphone which I left in the car they had provided.

What a lovely way to say au revoir to Paris (and we can't wait to return). The views of the city were spectacular, and there's nothing like sailing past the Eiffel Tower sparkling in the near distance. The dinner itself was very good and very French. I suggest asking to see the menu first instead of being surprised, which is an option. If there's something on the menu you don't like, let them know in advance. I didn't know that I could substitute, so I missed the main course as I do not eat lamb. This was a minor blip compared to the incredible views, the exemplary service, and the wonderful selection of wines. The staff was extremely attentive - our boat was not full so there was actually more staff than attendees. Every table looks out the windows for an incredible view. They time the tour accordingly so you are right under the Eiffel Tower at night when the lights sparkle and it provides a perfect backdrop for photos (which they are also able to take for you if you want, although for a hefty charge). Francois the captain called me within minutes and más space available on the next days boat so we did not miss the experience. Very kind and attentive. The ride was simply spectacular. One of the best nights we have had as a couple. Staff is incredible. We started out in a small corner living room Jano de the boat for pre ride drinks. Sat down for a delightful dinner, great wine selection. Did not expect that much from the food but it was above par, especially the scallops and the chicken. Food was wonderful except the main entree, the sauce was too sweet for my liking. Raspberry baba was the highlight. I recommend adding the drink option. Two glasses of wine will put you at $50. They also charge for water and tea. I wish the confirmation email included the name of the boat. Olympic Games Paris 2024: Everything you need to know about grand plan for historic opening ceremony

When the 2024 Olympic opening ceremony kicks off in Paris this year it could be one for the history books.

The Olympics will return to the French city for the first time in 100 years this July, and to mark the occasion, Games organisers have boldly broken with tradition.

In a Summer Games first, the opening ceremony will not be held within a stadium (although French president Emmanuel Macron said in April that it could be shifted to the Stade de France if the security threat is considered too great).

Instead, the plan is for the opening ceremony to be held along the city's famous river, the Seine.

This means the traditional "parade of nations" - where participating athletes march through the Olympic stadium - could look a lot different in 2024.

Here is what we know about the Olympic Games Paris 2024 opening ceremony.

What is the Paris Olympics opening ceremony date?

The opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics will be held on July 26.

An estimated 1 billion people will tune into a live broadcast of the event from around the world. In Australia, the Nine Network has the broadcasting rights to the Games.

How much are Paris 2024 opening ceremony tickets?

It depends. For those lucky enough to be among the scores of spectators heading to Paris for the Games, much of the opening ceremony will be free.

In another first for the Paris Games, spectators will not need tickets to access parts of the Seine to witness the ceremony.

The areas that don't require a ticket are the upper quays of the river.

However, paid tickets are needed to access the ceremony from the lower quays, namely the Austerlitz bridge to the Jena Bridge.

Ticket prices for these areas range from about $146 to around $4900.

There is a four-ticket maximum per purchase, with a total number of 30 tickets per Olympic account holder. Tickets to the opening ceremony will go on sale in May.

What time will the opening ceremony start in Australia?

Given the time difference between Paris and Australia, it's safe to say it will be early.

The ceremony is set to start at 8.24pm Paris time, which is 20.24 by the 24-hour clock.

The 10,500 athletes will travel by boat starting from the Austerlitz Bridge, beside the Jardin des Plantes, and meander down the river for six kilometres.

They will then travel around the the Île Saint Louis and the Île de la Cité - the two islands at the centre of Paris. The procession will pass under almost 10 bridges and gateways.

The parade route will also cross a number of iconic local landmarks such as Notre-Dame de Paris, the Louvre, the Pont des Arts, Pont Neuf, Pont Alexandre III and Musée d'Orsay.

What happens at the Olympic opening ceremony?

The opening ceremony is an opportunity for competing athletes from all nations to unite and celebrate together ahead of competition.

Traditionally there is strict protocol about the rituals and celebrations at the ceremony.

As well as the athletes' parade, playing of the national anthems and official opening addresses from Olympic officials, there is a symbolic release of doves.

Live doves were first used during the opening ceremony in Antwerp in 1920, however officials altered the ritual after the Seoul Olympics in 1988 when a number of the birds perished after being drawn to the Olympic flame.

Since then the release has been symbolic. At the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, one thousand paper doves were used instead of real birds.

In Paris, things will be a little different. As mentioned, the plan is for the Seine to be used as the stage for much of the opening ceremony.

Yet, there will be many stand-outs.

During the opening ceremony, which has been dubbed "a ceremony designed for and by athletes", athletes will feature on stage alongside performers.

The plan is for 160 boats to be travelling down the river along the six-kilometre parade route.

The 10,500 athletes and about 120 heads of state will be present to represent the 206 countries at the Games.

It's hoped there'll be 80 giant screens and strategically placed speakers around the route to give spectators greater access to the global event.
