The main Saloon features a u-shaped settee and drop table to port and an L-shaped settee to starboard. Storage and shelves through out. Saloon cushions were recovered in 2016. The galley is to port the navigation station is to starboard. The aft cabin can be entered from port or starboard and features a centerline double berth with hanging lockers, book case and seating. The head is located to starboard with access from the saloon and aft cabin. The entire vessel features fine Finnish craftmanship.

She is a safe and inviting offshore sailing vessel. This example is well on her way to being restored to her original glory. The teak decks are in very good condition having been replaced in 2004. She has had many upgrades including the engine, transmission, standing rigging see the upgrade list. The Hull is in need of painting but the current owner has decided to leave that project to the next owner and has priced her accordingly.

The B 38 is yet another great Baltic of the first era. So fast as to win on races and so luxurious as to allow for memorable cruises, when these things were possible. The elegant lines from Dough Peterson are still modern in every aspect but when sailing down-wind. These boats are still very fast and comfortable, as this unit demonstrates, having finished first of her class and 17th overall (out from 254 boats) at the 1999 ARC, and first overall in 2004. In 2008 she had a new teak deck laid on, with new Harken tracks and ball bearing cars. Many other vital details have been renewed or replaced recently. This boat is in magnific shape.

1983 Baltic 38DP

Kestrel is a meticulously maintained Baltic 38DP and she is one of only 55 ever made. This was one of Baltic’s most successful builds and was designed by renowned Naval Architect Doug Peterson. She is a genuine racer cruiser, which means she can hold steady in big seas in an offshore ocean crossing and is a very comfortable cruiser or racer for coastal sailing. She can also be single-handed, sailed with a couple, or raced with a full crew with her excellent access above decks to lines and halyards. With her beautifully appointed teak decking above decks, coupled with the craftsmanship and design of a warm and inviting teak interior below decks, you can easily find yourself spending just as much time above, as below.

The interior with it’s well positioned bulkheads allows for moving around the space safely and easily and there is ample light from all of the hatches, port lights, and deck prisms making her very comfortable to spend time in at anchor or in a harbor. The original teak decks were replaced in 2012 with glued teak decks so there are no fasteners to worry about. The sails were updated in 2017 as well as electronics. And with the exquisitely engineered shape and sleek lines you will be talked about in every harbour.

Although she is set up with a sail inventory and rigging for racing the current owners cruised locally and did not race her. 

If you haven’t sailed this vintage of boat upwind in a chop and pressure you have missed one of life’s great joys. These boats are so well balanced they are a thrill to drive. If you are looking for a high quality, well maintained, capable sailing yacht under 40’ this is a must see.

• Ahead of aft cabin on the port side is a nicely appointed L shaped galley with 3 burner gimballed propane stove and oven with nicely upgraded Corian countertops including a stovetop removable cover. At the forward part of the galley the counter turned inboard and has stainless steel double sinks
• Ice box compartment is outboard of double sinks and is stainless steel lined with custom refrigeration and freezer
• Built in LED light in bottom of ice box lid
• Outboard of stove are 2 cupboards with sliding teak doors and under the countertop is a slide out cutting board
• Across from the galley on the starboard side ahead of the aft head is a forward facing Nav station with a comfortable seat
• Nicely laid out electrical panel with plexi cover door
• 2nd chart plotter recessed in outboard cabinet along with SSB and battery monitor
• Storage behind and outboard of settees
• Dining table has drop leaves and storage locker in middle section
