Motor Yacht

Motor yacht Boadicea was built in 1999 by Dutch shipyard Amels and even now remains a highly impressive and aesthetically pleasing superyacht. With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she features interior and exterior design by Terence Disdale. This twin screw diesel yacht measures 70.5 metres and can accommodate up to 14 guests.

Luxury motor yacht Boadicea was constructed for Australian media magnate Reg Grundy and has remained under his ownership ever since. The yacht takes her name from a legendary English warrior queen whose figure can be seen adorning the yacht’s funnel and inside near the dining room.

The superyacht boasts an incredible degree of interior volume and an abundance of open space spread across her five decks. The interior offers a choice of formal and informal areas that are highlighted by soft furnishings in beige and salmon-pink.

The layout has been designed so both intimate spaces and large entertaining areas are catered for. The vessel boasts nine separate dining areas, ranging from casual al fresco lounges to a formal saloon that can seat 16 guests at once. The main saloon follows in a similar vein with a large open space for party hosting and isolated nooks for more private conversations.

Obviously designed with entertainment in mind, the yacht features a 14 seat cinema, stage suitable for live entertainment, piano bar and a gym. Two custom-built Vikal tenders are stored in specially created tender bays on the main side deck. When she was originally built, the yacht had a real grass lawn on one of her upper aft decks to cater for the owners’ dogs when they travelled with them. The lawn space was now been removed.

The bright sundeck crowns the impressive vessel, boasting a lovely tiled swimming pool with a water jet-stream that allows guests to swim against a current. A fixed-stool bar, sun loungers and cocktail seating areas can also be found on the sundeck offering superior views.

Amongst her seven cabins are an indulgent master suite; four double guest cabins; and two twin guest cabins. The master suite features a private bathroom, dressing room with an immense closet and a massage room. The four double cabins all include en suite bathrooms and dressing rooms.

Luxury yacht Boadicea is powered by two Caterpillar 2,590 horsepower engines that allow her to reach a maximum speed of 18 knots. She can achieve a range of 5,000 nautical miles while cruising at a speed of 15 knots.

Featuring a dedicated crew, Boadicea is an excellent charter yacht for luxury vacations. The yacht cruises comfortably at 14 knots while her crew of 26 ensure the needs of every guest are met.

The luxury motor yacht is equipped with an armada of water toys to provide endless entertainment during any yacht charter. Onboard water toys include tenders, Wave Runners, a laser sailing dinghy, windsurfers, kayaks, waterskis, tows and a range of snorkelling and fishing equipment.

Boadicea cruises the Mediterranean during the summer charter season. The luxury vessel carries a Lloyd’s classification and is fully MCA compliant.

A masterpiece from Amels, the BOADICEA yacht is an impressive vessel with plenty to offer.

With enough room to entertain up to twenty guests, this yacht is fitted out with a lot of luxurious and modern features, with décor inspired both by art deco and more classic styles.

In addition to this, there is plenty of space for guests of BOADICEA yacht as well. There is a large sundeck with a pool, a touch-and-go helipad, and a guest elevator. Not to mention the spa, where guests can enjoy a hydro massage.

Designed by Terence Disdale, the interior has light colors and plenty of wooden features.

The interior of the BOADICEA yacht feels both modern and luxurious. Some other features inside the yacht are a movie theatre and even a medical room.

Built-in 1999, BOADICEA has a length of 76.6 meters (251.4 ft), a beam is 14 meters (45.11 ft), and a maximum draft length of 4.2 meters (13.9 ft).

She has a max speed of 15.0 knots, and a cruise speed between 13.0 and 14.0 knots.

This yacht has two diesel engines, manufactured by Caterpillar Inc. The model is 3516B DITA, which gives her a reach of about 5,300 nautical miles. In addition to this, she also has two propellers.

There is also a stabilization system in place, to reduce the side-to-side rocking when out at sea.

BOADICEA has the capacity to host up to twenty guests, and twenty-four crew members in ten cabins.

As well as designing the interior of BOADICEA, Terence Disdale Design also designed the exterior, in collaboration with Amels .

The white and grey vessel is hard to miss due to its sheer size. Navy blue letters spell out the name on the side of the yacht, and there are plenty of windows to let in the light.

There are a total of three decks with a lot of space for BOADICEA’s passengers. Guests also can enjoy a plethora of toys such as jet skis and kayaks.

The 251.4-foot (76.6m) BOADICEA has an enviable yachting pedigree. She was built in 1999 by Amels, with naval architecture and interior design from the renowned Terence Disdale. As such, she is truly impressive inside and out. Those who know their superyachts may recognize her under her former name ‘REBORN’. 

BOADICEA has a steel displacement hull, a 45.11-foot (14m) beam and a 13.11-foot (4.25m) draft. She sleeps 12 guests in 10 impressive staterooms and has exceptional areas and decks. She underwent a refit in 2019/2020 during which time her teak decks and galley were updated. Some exciting new additions included a new beach club and a physiotherapy center. The yacht has a cruising speed of 13 knots, at which she has a range of 5,300 nautical miles, and a top speed of 15 knots. 

BOADICEA has 10 highly impressive staterooms. Chief among them is the owner’s room on its own deck. It has an office, private lounging area, stateroom with his-and-hers bathrooms and a private deck area. It also incorporates a double cabin for children and there is an additional cabin on the upper main deck to accommodate a personal assistant. The remainder of the charter party sleeps in a VIP stateroom, five double staterooms and a twin. 

Luxury, style and indulgence extend throughout the interior. Particular highlights include a spa center with a hydro-massage hot tub, a steam bath, emotional shower and massage room. BOADICEA also has an expert masseuse and beautician on hand for guests.

The many attractions on deck make BOADICEA the ideal yacht for either families or groups of friends. Her sundeck is a popular social area complete with hot-tub swimming pool, couches, sun loungers and a bar. Her upper deck has a dining area and a large-screen television outside leading into an upper salon with large couches and great home-entertainment systems. The main deck has the principal salon and a breakfast/meeting room. The yacht’s crew of 22 ensure exceptional personal attention at all times.

Join the 77m Boadicea for a luxury charter in Greece

Since her delivery in 1999, the 77-metre Boadicea has taken guests around the world during her time as a popular charter yacht. The Terance Disdale designed-yacht can be seen in many Mediterranean hotspots with her luxury features such as a cinema, spa, beach club with a bar, medical room, pool and touch and go helipad. 

To find out what life is like for charter guests of Boadicea , we join the captain and his crew on the Amels superyacht for a week of Greek island hopping as recommended by Cecil Wright & Partners .

Day one: Athens

Meet Boadicea in Athens, the city that gave birth to democracy. Head off to explore the iconic ancient ruins, including the world-famous Parthenon. Afterwards, foodies can go to Athens’ central market, Varvakios Agora, to wander through the colourful spice stalls and fishmongers before returning to the yacht for a welcome dinner on board.

Day two: Kythnos

Make the 47-nautical-mile cruise to the tranquil island of Kythnos. A weekend bolt-hole for Athenians in the know, the island is home to nearly 100 beaches. Kolona beach is the most famous and is a great place to spend the day at anchor swimming or making use of the yacht’s toy box. If you fancy stretching your legs, head inland to visit the picturesque rustic villages of Horta or Dryopida.

Day three: Sifnos

Awake in the cerulean waters of Platis Gialos Bay on the island of Sifnos. Enjoy breakfast on board before visiting the petite chapel of the Seven Martyrs, which is perched on a rocky outcrop above the sea. Dine in one of the island’s many traditional mezedopoleío to sample local delicacies such as kleftiko (slow-cooked lamb wrapped in paper) and giouvetsi (veal casserole).

Day four: Milos and Poliegos

In the morning Boadicea will cruise to the island of Milos, famed for its lunar-like rock formations. Spend the morning exploring the dramatic rocks at Sarakiniko beach before relocating to the neighbouring island of Poliegos, inhabited only by a herd of goats. Drop anchor near the Bay of Mirsini and swim in the emerald waters.

Day five: Koufonisi

Head off the beaten track to the two islets that form Koufonisia, one of the secret jewels of the Cyclades. Pano Koufonisi and the unpopulated Kato Koufonisi are separated by a 200-metre strait and are nicknamed the “hollow islands” because of their huge caves. Relax on the secluded beaches before an alfresco dinner at anchor under the stars.

Day six: Paros

Relocate 30 nautical miles to the whitewashed villages and windmills of Paros. Stop off at the island’s colourful fishing port and wander through the flower-filled lanes. In the afternoon discover the tiny uninhabited islands that stud the deep blue bay. For the best beaches, sail over to Paros’s petite neighbour Antiparos, which has just one little harbour village.

Day seven: Mykonos

Finish your charter with a bang on Mykonos. Explore Little Venice’s labyrinth of streets or head to one of the famous beach clubs. Those seeking a more cultural experience can visit the nearby island of Delos, one of Greece’s most important archaeology sites. Enjoy a final dinner on board before departing from the international airport the next day.
