Big shop inside a pretty compact premises - reduced opening hours during the summer , but still a great selection of clothing , equipment and chandlery - catering mainly for dinghy sailing / racing and general watersports. They had the rope and wetsuits that I needed and also buoyancy aids for the kids. I love the fact that they are open all year and still keep stock available for sailing , even when the other side of their business , the skiing, is in full swing. The staff were helpful and had a sense of humour , and although one of the women did admit that skiing was more her area of expertise , I was helped by someone who knew the gear inside out and was also able to explain the specification of what we were looking at. I do ski as well so I will be back. I was blown away by the approach they take to fitting ski boots properly.

Alpine room are indeed the specialist ski and snowboard clothing and equipment retailer in Essesx. They sell the equipment and clothing from top manufacturers. They are also experts in dishing out ATTITUDE, LACK OF INTEREST IN THE CUSTOMERS AND THEIR NEEDS. Unfortunately for all staff working there, the atmosphere and the ambience is frosty and horribly hostile by the member of staff who pretends to be as important as the Prime Minister. The shop would benefit from some young, fresh blood and staff who actually know what they are talking about. Last weekend went to buy some skis, but after the staff member told me that all of their skis are online and that's where I can read about them I decided to spend £700 elsewhere. When asked the sales person what was the difference between some of them, she said: SOME ARE LONGER THAT OTHERS WOW!!! It gave me confidence!!! Her ability to infuriate a customer should be awarded by the Queen with the MBE for input in sport. I would definitely suggest people with low blood pressure to go there shopping it will keep it raised for hours afterwards. In a habit of being welcomed by staff in other establishments with a smile and friendly hello, how may I help you today? it was a bit of an experience to hear WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?! DISSAPOINTED, DISSAPOINTED, DISSAPOINTED, specially that the guy who is fitting the boots is so nice and patient. I am not sure if they will see this review, but hopefully some potential customers will know what to expect going shopping at the Alpine Room in Danbury.

Yacht Equipment is a sailing and watersports chandlery. We specialise in chandlery, equipment and clothing (wetsuits, waterproofs, lifejackets and buoyancy aids) for dinghy sailing, yacht and small boat sailing and a variety of other watersports. We are located in Danbury (near Chelmsford) Essex, on a through route to the sailing areas on the river Blackwater and river Crouch and we are very near to the Chelmer and Blackwater navigation. We stock clothing (wetsuits, rash vests, waterproof clothing, footwear for the boat) for you and the kids. We also sell buoyancy aids and lifejackets for you, the kids and for the dog. We sell surf shorts and a casual range also. Out watersports gear is suitable for yacht sailing, small boat (dinghy sailing), jet skiing, water skiing, canoeing or kayaking, or canal boat sailing and just about any other sport in and around the water. Our chandlery includes bags and luggage, books, charts, dvds, boat fittings (blocks, bolts, stainless steel screws, cleats, shackles and hooks). Also rigging and rope, bailers, tiller extensions, rudder hardwear. For maintaining your boat - paint, antifouling, undercoat, marine cleaners, fillers, fiberglass repair kits, epoxy glue and fillers, adhesives and sealants and sale repair tape. Plus navigation equipment, clocks for boats and race watches and much more. We make up strops and wire rigging to order and also available via our on-line shop.
