The 43.9m/144' motor yacht 'Alaska of George Town' (ex. Alaska of George Town) was built by Shipworks Brisbane in Australia. Her interior is styled by design house Bernie Cohen Design and she was delivered to her owner in February 2004. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Bernie Cohen Design and she was last refitted in 2015.

Her low draft of 2.24m/7'4" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. An advanced stabilisation system on board promises exceptional comfort levels at anchor or on any voyage. Her water tanks store around 12,000 Litres of fresh water. Luxury motor yacht ALASKA OF GEORGE TOWN (formerly Alaska, M/Y ‘Aliska’) is a 43m/144 foot ShipWorks superyacht which was refitted in 2015. Every detail of M/Y ALASKA OF GEORGE TOWN's design, engineering and construction of the luxury motor yacht has been a quest to create the perfect yacht. She is able to accommodate 10 guests.

This tri-deck yacht is unmistakably elegant and sleek with her flawless blue-black hull. By all measure, she is the quintessential expression of the modern superyacht and the highest evolved form of the shipbuilder’s art. Burness Corlett Three Quays Australia were the naval architects for this luxury yacht.

The main entry on the starboard side of ALASKA OF GEORGE TOWN's main deck opens into an impressive foyer with curved stairways to upper and lower decks. The foyer features silk panelled walls and American walnut timberwork with ebonised black inlay. Flooring is antique Labrador marble with nautilus shell design inlaid in stainless steel and black galaxy granite.

ALASKA OF GEORGE TOWN's main salon is rich in fine American walnut, Labrador granite and beautiful silk panelling. The theme is New York City penthouse. Gold leaf, black stepped cabinets provide storage. A 50” pop-up flat screen plasma monitor, DVD and Marantz stereo system provide entertainment. The contrasting silk wall behind the credenza provides the backdrop for a featured art piece. Overhead, a fielded and a raised panel is an elegant ceiling accent (a distinctive design feature found throughout the yacht). The expansive windows are dressed with beautifully tailored sheer silk Roman blinds, while stepped cornices and fluted walnut mullions highlight the exquisite craftsmanship. A creamy, hand-made, sculptured Tai Ping carpet, made from the finest New Zealand wool, completes the penthouse-inspired main salon.

The formal dining room is forward of the main salon where an oval, American walnut dining table with gold inlay, provides comfortable seating for 10. Matching buffets with inlaid marquetry provide the generous storage, while the continuing design theme is beautifully played in silk panel walls, deep Tai Ping carpet, Roman silk blinds and fluted column mullions. A hand-painted, antiqued gold leaf Chinese screen is a key feature of this elegant and intimate room.

ALASKA OF GEORGE TOWN is a very social yacht and ideal for yacht charters where there will be some entertainment. The flow from indoor to outdoor living and entertaining on the bridge deck is a seamless transition. A luxurious skylounge, elegantly decorated for casual entertaining with plush fabrics, raw silk panelled walls, sheer silk Roman blinds and matching American walnut cabinets featuring herring-bone inlays and ebonised walnut accents. A 42” plasma screen pop-up TV and sunken bar are the finishing touches in this very social space. The sky lounge opens onto a large shaded expanse for outdoor relaxing and dining. Farther aft, the deck is open to the sun.

ALASKA OF GEORGE TOWN Specifications

Notable in the sky lounge is an innovative sunken bar. Lowering the deck behind the bar eliminates the need for tall bar stools, the very height of which would restrict the view through the large windows. Using the comfortable caned club chairs around the bar is not only more view friendly and luxurious, but it is also more social. Everyone in the lounge can now be seated at the same level.

A large, luxurious sundeck incorporates hot tub and lounge forward, with a grilling and food preparation centre under the soaring radar arch midship, an outdoor dining and chaise lounge area are aft. On cool nights, this generous, open deck is ideal for elegant entertaining or quiet, romantic dining under the stars.

Luxury motor yacht ALASKA OF GEORGE TOWN charters with up to 10 guests in 5 cabins. M/Y ALASKA OF GEORGE TOWN has a uniquely elevated private area located forward on the main deck, with hot tub and lounge area, can only be entered through the owner’s suite. Both inside the stateroom and out, extraordinary privacy and an unobstructed 270º panoramic view can be exclusively enjoyed. The owner’s deck and stateroom is a very private haven, a retreat of deep luxury and exquisite appointments. The suite features a king bed with elaborately carved base. The ample drawer cabinets are of American walnut with inlaid marquetry of fine herringbone and a dado of inlaid gold leaf. Opposite the bed is a pup-up 42” flat screen plasma TV that is discreetly stored in a carved cabinet framed by round walnut columns. Electrically operated dual layered Roman blinds of metallic silk over striped silk, and the Silhouette block out blinds close out light and add an additional measure of privacy. The master bath is done in a striking book-matched marble featuring a hand-painted, Pompeiian fresco frieze dome above the oval hydro therapy spa bath. A gold leaf custom mirror, gold plated vanity sink, faucets and Besselink light fixtures complement the luxurious ensuite. The VIP suite on the lower deck is more spacious than other guest suites and takes advantage of the full beam with a king size bed, comfortable loveseat and dressing table/desk I American walnut with antique Labrador marble tops. The walls are silk panelled. A 42” plasma TV/DVD and audio entertainment system complete this impressive VIP guest suite. The VIP ensuite in cashew marble has a spa/bath and shower with gold vanity sink and faucets. Two guest suites are forward on the lower deck. Both offer luxurious queen size beds and individual entertainment centres. Wardrobe walls are silk-paneled with Zebrano veneer and walnut, with quilted silk inlays that are also used on bed headboard and deckhead. A cabinet and bookcase of American walnut with antiqued mirror glass panelled doors, provide storage. Guest ensuites, with showers, are fashioned of cashew marble throughout.

Depending on your arrival times, we can let you check in as early as 10am so we can head out early and visit an island on your first evening. Or, we can do check-in/orientation later in the day and let you enjoy the local flavor of Georgetown for the evening and head out the next day. Georgetown Yacht Haven, Inc. offers covered and open slips ranging from 25 to 90 feet, with tee-head space available for larger yachts. Moorings are also available with an included pennant and launch service. We provide group rates for cruising clubs. Transients are always welcome. We offer both fixed and floating docks on a yearly, monthly, weekly, or daily basis. Slips include ample electricity, water, and use of heads/showers, a swimming pool, and spacious picnic areas with gas grills. Georgetown Yacht Haven, Inc.'s pet walk area assures your best friend is also welcome.

2019 rates: $1.50/foot includes electric. Mooring $0.85/ft/night

This marina requires a credit card to hold your slip. Your credit card will only be charged if you leave the marina without paying.If you do not call and cancel your reservation within 24 hours of your arrival you will be charged for one nights dockage.Valid reasons for canceling a reservation less than 24 hours of your arrival are at the discretion of the marina.

Great Exuma Island, Georgetown, Bahamas

Beach on Great Exuma Island

Great Exuma Island is one of the southern-most islands in the Exuma Island chain. Located on Great Exuma Island is the town of Georgetown which is the center of the southern Exuma Islands, making Georgetown a yacht charter destination. Home to around 2500 year around residents, and with a great deep water harbor, Georgetown has a busy yacht harbor, and is a good location to visit when on a Bahamian yacht charter of the Exuma Islands . The deep harbor, Elizabeth Harbour, was a favorite with pirates in the 1600’s, who hid in Great Exuma Island repairing and careening their vessels on nearby cays ringed with the shallow water needed to careen a vessel on the beach. Towards the end of the 1700’s, Loyalist plantation owners from Virginia and the Carolinas fled to Great Exuma and Little Exuma Islands to rebuild their cotton plantation economy after the American Revolutionary War. Georgetown was named after King George III, to whom the Loyalists remained faithful. Today, Elizabeth Harbour is a favorite harbor in yachting as one of the largest natural harbors in the world, with beautiful water in lovely shades of blue and green.

In Georgetown, visit the Straw Market, a market place of different stalls all manned by local ladies. There are true crafts, and also the normal tourist items. If tourist souvenirs are not of interest, pick through the merchandise displayed in the various stalls to find true crafts such as baskets hand woven using coconut palm fronds. The ladies may even show you how the coconut palm fronds are cleaned to become basket weaving material. There are several restaurants and bars and also the little store, Sandpiper Arts and Crafts, with wares created by local artists, but also products made elsewhere in the Bahamas such as Abaco Neem products made from local Abaco Neem oil. The Government Building is attractive with architecture based on the Government Building in Nassau. There are several beautiful beaches. Nearby are Little Exuma and Stocking Islands, which should also be visited when on a private yacht charter in the southern Exuma Islands of the Bahamas.

Great Exuma Island

Part of both Little Exuma and Great Exuma Islands is Moria Harbour Cay National Park established in 2002 and encompassing 13,440 acres. Within the park area, felt to be an important part of the ecosystem between Great and Little Exuma islands, are pristine beaches, sand dunes, mangrove creeks and sea grass beds, and within the park a huge variety of birds can be found nesting.

Tropic of Cancer Beach and Meridian Line Marker

Little Exuma and Great Exuma Islands are joined by a small bridge making Little Exuma Island possible to visit by land. Scenes from two Pirates of the Caribbean movies were filmed on the southern end of the island. On Little Exuma are the overgrown ruins of The Hermitage Estate near William’s Town, once a 970-acre cotton plantation established by a Loyalist family after the American Revolution. Today, on the grounds, still stands the Cotton House, the oldest building in The Exuma Islands which was originally built in the 1750s when the cotton industry was alive and well on the island for a brief period. Also to be seen today is a portion of the main house, three tombs, and ruins of slave quarters. The nearby salt pond, felt to be one of the finest natural salt lakes in The Exumas, was worked for salt to be exported to Canada and the United States. The beautiful Tropic of Cancer Beach, the longest beach on the Little Exuma Island, also known as Pelican Beach with white powder sand, is the location in the Bahamas where the Tropic of Cancer Meridian crosses.

Stocking Island

Easily reachable by charter yacht from Elizabeth Harbour, Stocking Island is considered to have some of the finest white powder sand beaches in The Bahamas. Around the perimeter and within the island are blue holes, coral gardens and undersea caves which are great to explore either by snorkeling or scuba diving. If exploring by scuba diving, it is best to do so with an experienced local dive company as the blue holes are unique tidal blue holes, with a current pulling one in or spitting one out which requires appropriate timing of when to dive. The Island also has Stromatolites, found on beaches on the Atlantic side of the island, said to be the oldest known macro-fossils on the planet.

The Chat and Chill is a big draw on Stocking Island, which was opened in 1998 originally as a location for live-aboards to gather for great food and even Sunday church. Today, the Chat and Chill is the main social spot on Stocking Island, with a restaurant, beach boutique, volleyball net, and waterside conch salad shack. Every Sunday, year around, the Chat and Chill hosts a popular pig roast with beach volleyball; making for a fun afternoon for every charterer on every charter yacht around.

Great Exuma Island Coral Reef

As always, snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, and fishing, including bonefishing are all superb in this southern area of the Exuma Islands. One can just jump into the water in various locations right from your charter yacht in the midst of beautiful coral gardens.

Stocking Island Anchorage

Great Exuma Island with Georgetown, Little Exuma and Stocking Islands, are all in close proximity and on a crewed yacht charter one could spend several days exploring and enjoying all there is to do and see.

What to Do and See on Great Exuma Island, Bahamas

Georgetown: Wander the streets of Georgetown to see the Government Building, visit the Straw Market and the Sandpiper Arts and Crafts store, along with the several restaurants and bars. Georgetown is the largest town in the Exuma Islands, with the largest deep-water harbor in which visiting charter yachts can be safely anchored. Sandals Emerald Bay Resort: Outside of Georgetown on a mile long secluded beach, this adults-only resort is located in a 500 acre compound. The resort includes 11 restaurants, 3 pools, a spa and award-winning golf course.

Moria Harbour Cay National Park: Including land and sea on both Great Exuma and Little Exuma Islands, enjoy this protected area for the hiking trails, and natural life to be seen, especially birds.

Hermitage Plantation Ruins: Located on Little Exuma, these plantation ruins are in the wild, however very overgrown, so best to visit wearing good sturdy shoes.

Chat and Chill: Popular restaurant on Stocking island, especially for the pig roasts that happen every Sunday year around from 12:00noon to 7:00pm, easily reachable by charter yachts and welcoming to every charterer.
