I do not own a boat, but a friend sent me a link for free admission to a TECH and BOAT Show, where vendors would sell, among other things, boats and accessories. Light snacks and 1 drink ticket were available. Across the hall the food for Members was available (fruit, dessert, carving station). Luckily I saved myself embarrassment and avoided those areas. The area was so nice, right on the water of course. A live band and outdoor seating (member seating separate) on a warm early evening made for a great atmosphere. There were vendors inside and outside, from car companies, boat accessories, and private plane sales. The dock allowed for boats to be visited, but none were going out at the time. My favorite accessory was the 'Seakeeper', a heavy object that keeps boats from rocking. Good idea! The area and service were great but I can't speak to the members.

Well I don't own a Yacht/Boat neither my friends do.+1 for a annual member ship event and this is a great place to be.Similar to lake shore walk but just a place where you can Dine In makes this place different. Can't comment on the food as this is "Members only Club". Pros: Amazing View of the Lake. Great spot to host events/weddings Pretty Good staff

I attended a friends wedding here who got married later in life - I'll never forget his 90 year old Dad saying he didn't think he would live long enough to see his boy get married! The food at the reception was really good, servers refilled often and you had exceptional views of the lake - what's not to love?!

I am not a member of Chicago Yacht Club but I have attending many events at both Monroe and Belmont locations for years. The Monroe locations is well decorated and has a beautiful view of the lake and city. It's great for lunch during the summer and there is parking on site. I obviously can't speak regarding member benefits or services but overall the staff is friendly and helpful. I attended a recent event here for an awards ceremony & dinner. The food was fantastic with a wide range of options from a carving station, sushi, salads, ribs, mac & cheese, soup and more. Everything I tried was delicious but it was a little difficult to eat as it was a standing dinner and there were not a lot of counter space to put your place on. The bar selection was extensive and you received two drink tickets with your ticket. There was a heated tent set up outside for dancing after the ceremony. The awards ceremony itself was very rushed. There was only a notice given a couples minutes prior that it was going to start and there were few seats available for those who needed them. I would have appreciated a 20 and 10 minute heads up for the awards presentation as it was taking place at one end of the building and people were spread out along multiple rooms. I know they were limited to the number of people who could attend based on the space of their facility but it was for an event that hundreds of people participated and the event was sold out rather quickly and it was a little cramped. Regardless, everyone in my party had a fantastic time but we all agreed that some things could have been improved.

This place is very nice and fancy plain and simple. My cousin had his wedding and reception here. Everything from the ambiance, the atmosphere, the décor, the service and the food all scream elegant. The view of the dock where all the boats are located is very nice and the appetizers they serve are very tasty, especially the beef wellington. If you're looking to host some type of event here be ready to shell out some serious paper because this place is far from cheap. However you get what you pay for and here you pay for top notch service with delicious food and appetizers with a great view of the ocean. I'm not a member of the Chicago Yacht Club but if a friend or family member ever has an event here; I will definitely attend.

I have receptacle privileges here and took advantage of it for lunch. The afternoon was a perfect Chicago day We sat outside with the best view in Chicago. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff could not have been friendlier. You couldn't tell i was not a full member. We ended up having salads and two bottles of wine. They were a light Sauvignon blanc, but the day was so nice we didn't want to leave. So we sat for a couple of hours. Just an amazing experience.....if i owned a boat, i would truly consider a membership Highly recommend

My boss is a super-regular member of a certain age (old school is putting it mildly.) And, while I have no prior experience with yacht clubs because I'm a mere working class peon (with nary a yacht in my possession...,) I can only speak to my experience at my company's private event there (at the insistence of aforementioned boss.) First, it truly feels old school. Very masculine and likely quite fashionable a few decades back (that's not saying it's a bad place, just not very modern-feeling.) The room in which we held our event was quite nice, open and airy with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the harbor. Can't beat that view! The staff was very pleasant. It was incredibly easy to work with the event coordinator and the bartenders and servers were lovely when we had to make a few last-minute adjustments during the event. All in all, a lovely place to hold a private event!

A rich 143 year history along a breathtaking view of Chicago's skyline and lakefront. I was impressed with the service as well as the food. I dined on the stuffed Pork Chop as it was succulent and well seasoned. I finished the evening with a warm Peach Cobbler with ice cream that was not too sweet and hit the spot.

Really cool establishment, retro old school feel. Well maintained & very clean. The food was phenomenal. I had a lobster roll with homemade chips. Very tasty & nice presentation. The view is beautiful & despite a ton of people at millennium park, it was really quite quaint. Will definitely come again, or possibly even join. Loved it!

Seems like a nice enough place. But the GM...a jerk. I am a 53 year old well-educated upper-middle-class white female, and was dressed the part yesterday evening. Was waiting for my friend to valet the car. General manager came out and asked me why I was there, who I was with and why I was standing in his parking lot. Not an impressive way to greet a first-time guest. I told him whose boat I was going out on and he continued to indicate to me that I could not park in the lot. Since I was standing outside the car and was clearly not the car's driver, I'm not sure what effect he thought I could have on the parking situation. But I do hate the way he treated me and the way he accused me of not belonging. It definitely made me hesitant to return. What a jerk. Wondering how he treats people of different races or different socioeconomic statuses. Charming.

The rich and famous are not merely looking for the best place to anchor their yachts; they are also seeking out exclusive memberships in stunning destinations, all offering luxury amenities and, of course, bragging rights. These exclusive yachting clubs with often outrageous initiation fees, provide luxurious clubhouses, and provide accommodations for yachties who want to get their land legs. Most of them provide high-end concierge service to its members as well as Michelin-star quality restaurants and more.

Yacht Clubs have been recognized in the Platinum Clubs of America elections for more than 20 years. According to the Platinum Club, “Recognition in the following categories is important in the selection of Platinum status; Tradition, history, and heritage, a respected membership, excellence in amenities, exceptional service, adapting to changing times, and overall experience.

I spoke with the President of Club Leaders Forum, David V. Smith, about the selection, and he says, “we created an alphabetical selection this time as opposed to by rank because we felt that it was challenging to compare a yacht club in Ireland with a yacht club in Singapore, as amenities, location and facilities do vary quite a lot. The yachting and boating world is a different and unique culture, typically a little more relaxed and not as formal as country clubs and golf clubs. However, many of the world’s finest yacht clubs have wonderful history and traditions, with a great sense of camaraderie among their members. Certain yacht clubs were selected by the Panel not necessarily for their facilities and amenities but in their recognition of hosting world class sailing regattas and events.”

Surrounding the Spa Creek Bridge in Annapolis, the Club boasts over 75 wet slips and dry dockage. The club began in 1886 as an informal canoe club, and today has 1600 regular members active in social, racing, and cruising programs.

Beach Point Club is a member-owned, family-oriented private club. The elegant and spacious clubhouse was built in the 1890s by an industrialist as a private home. In 1925 the property was purchased by the founding members with the purpose of establishing a club on the water. The club now has more than 600 members with a full service marina.

Chicago Yacht Club

Founded in 1875, Chicago Yacht Club is one of the oldest and most respected yacht clubs in the world. The Club is home to more than 1,400 members, including a winning America’s Cup skipper, and Olympic medalists.

Larchmont Yacht Club

Located in Westchester County, New York, the Club has been in existence since 1880 when it was purchased by Benjamin A. Carver, a railroad magnate. The original Carver residence was much smaller than the present clubhouse – the east and west wings were added following the purchase. The Junior Clubhouse was the Carver stable: the basement was the cow barn, while the first floor housed the horses.

Lauderdale Yacht Club

Founded in 1938, Lauderdale Yacht Club is invitation only and host to 65 dock slips that wrap around the marina. The club is also home to one of the most elite junior sailing programs in the nation.

Naples Yacht Club

Founded in 1947 and situated on Naples Bay, the Club has the proud distinction of being the city’s first and oldest private club and its marina has 75 concrete floating docks. Membership has grown from three founding yachtsmen to over 530.

Newport Harbor Yacht Club

Established in 1916, the club is located on the Balboa peninsula in Southern California. A newly remodeled clubhouse was also created to replace the original building. Initiation fees range upwards of $20,000

Palm Beach Yacht Club

Founded in 1890, the marina has 45 slips to accommodate boats up to 150 feet. All annual dockage contracts (from $1 per foot per day), include a membership to the prestigious Yacht Club.

Pelican Isle Y acht Club

With 190 wet slips and direct access to the Gulf of Mexico, the club can accommodate vessels up to 55 feet. Equity social membership is by invitation only with an initiation fee as high as $15,000, and annual dues at $5,500.

Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club

Founded in 1959, the club has been part of the Boca Raton landscape for over 50 years with membership by invitation only. The state-of-the-art Marina boasts a TimberTech floating dock system, accommodating vessels up to 130 feet. 

Sailfish Club of Florida

The Sailfish Club of Florida was built in the early 1900s. It is the oldest continuously operating private club in the town of Palm Beach.

San Diego Yacht Club

In June of 1886 a group of local boating enthusiasts joined together to found what has become this cornerstone yacht club. The racing history of SDYC is as significant as the history of its location. Several members were winning races all over the country in the early to mid-20th century, however, SDYC reached a turning point starting in the 1980s when Dennis Conner won the America’s Cup. In the early 1980s, Dennis Conner won the cup once and then lost it the next time to New York Yacht Club. In 1987, Dennis won again on behalf of San Diego Yacht Club. The America’s Cup was won a third time by SDYC in 1992 by Bill Koch on the yacht,  America .

With 600 wet slips and 100 dry slips, initiation fee is upwards of $24,000 plus $200 monthly dues.

In the summer of 1869, a group of active, local yachtsmen formed the San Francisco Yacht Club. The oldest yacht club on the Pacific Coast, it’s one of the most elegant and exclusive yacht clubs in the U.S. The harbor consists of 190 berths and 50 dry-storage spaces, as well as a large youth sailing dock. Membership is by sponsor referral only.

Sarasota Yacht Club

Sarasota Yacht Club was organized in the summer of 1907 and located on the north end of Siesta Key. Facilities include a 110-slip marina, fitness center, heated pool, two indoor bars, a pool bar, multiple meeting rooms, a grand dining room, waterside terrace, and lunch dock. Savannah Yacht Club

The Savannah Yacht Club was originally organized on June 14, 1869. The private, members only club is by invitation only with only 1,000 members. Amenities include a figure 8 pool, an Olympic size swimming pool, as well as floating docks.

St. Francis Yacht Club

This club was founded in 1927 when the members of the San Francisco Yacht Club decided to move their clubhouse out of San Francisco to Belvedere, California. The 2,300 member club is considered to be the most prestigious yacht club in the western U.S. and has hosted over 40 regattas on San Francisco Bay. The Mediterranean Revival-style clubhouse is in close proximity to the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoys views from the Bridge to Alcatraz Island and beyond.

Sometime in the early 1600s, sailing for private pleasure started to to become popular in the Netherlands. Later that century, during the Cromwellian years, King Charles II of England was in exile in the Netherlands and while there he became aware of this new and exciting pastime. According to Royal Cork Yacht Club, “By 1720, interest in the sport had progressed so much that his great-grandson, the 26 year old William O’Brien, the 9th Lord Inchiquin, and five of his friends got together to formalize their activities and in so doing established ” The Water Club of the Harbour of Cork.”

This club is known today as the Royal Cork Yacht Club and it is the oldest yacht club in the world. It was originally located on Haulbowline Island before moving to the town of Cobh and finally establisged in it's current location in Crosshaven.

Founded by Prince Rainier III in 1953, the Yacht Club De Monaco is a prestigious club that holds a unique position on the international yachting scene with more than 1600 members drawn from 66 nationalities.

The reigning Club President since 1984 has been His Royal Highness, Prince Sovereign Albert II, and a suitably formal dress code for day and evening wear is enforced at all times. Membership is limited and very, very exclusive: prospective candidates must submit an application form to the club committee and be introduced by two sponsors, both of whom must be existing members. The successful applicant will be welcomed with an ice-breaking cocktail party and gala dinner in their honor.

The futuristic clubhouse was redesigned in 2013 and overlooks Port Hercules, it offers up very popular cocktail bar and Mediterranean restaurant.

About the Club Newly renovated in 2019, the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor is home to one of the best sunset views in South Jersey. Situated on the bay, members often take advantage of this picturesque scene while enjoying a cocktail on the deck, or dining in one of our two bay front dining rooms. Our dining facilities are open year-round. Throughout the summer, our families enjoy a wide variety of sailing , powerboating and other sport activities, as well as social and community service events. Our Youth Activities Program (YAP) provides seven weeks of instruction and fun for the children and grandchildren of our members. Classes include sailing instruction, kayaking , arts & crafts, swimming and nature lessons. The Yacht Club of Stone Harbor is a perfect place for people to relax, enjoy the company of others and develop lifelong friendships. To Apply To apply for membership, please complete the included application and request letters of sponsorship from two current Senior Yacht Club members. The application and sponsorship letters should then be submitted to our Membership Committee in care of the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor.

When all documents have been received, you will be contacted by a member of the Membership Committee to schedule an interview, after which time your application will be presented to the Board of Trustees for approval. Assuming acceptance of your application and providing there is no waiting list for membership, you will then receive a request for payment of the joining fee, annual dues and any other fees that may apply. Once payment has been received, the Club Secretary will issue your membership card.

YCSH is home to a fleet of Flying Scots and races are held every weekend during the summer.

YAP / Sailing The Youth Activities Program (YAP) at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor provides seven weeks of sailing instruction and activities for the children and grandchildren of members.

Children as young as four years of age are engaged in story time, crafts, swimming, games and water safety. Classes for children ages 6 and up include sailing, kayaking, arts & crafts, swimming and nature lessons. Participants may join us for a half day of sailing instruction only, or a full day of sailing and activities.

Our sailing curriculum is based on U.S. Sailing standards. All of our instructors are U.S. Sailing Level I certified and CPR/First Aid certified. We offer a competitive travel race team to our more advanced sailors. Tuesday evenings are reserved for Flea Fleet, a youth social program, providing another means of fostering friendships.

History In 1911 The Stone Harbor Yacht Club was built for Stone Harbor Realty Company by John Larsen, grandfather of previous Fleet Historian, Jane Scott. The Club failed during the Depression. But in 1929, Jane’s father, Clarence O. Letzkus, along with a small group of men, reorganized the club as The Yacht Club of Stone Harbor by selling proprietary memberships. The 1911 building is used to this day by members and their guests. An exhibit including Club history can be seen at the Stone Harbor Museum. Now you will see an exhibit on the Club’s history installed at the Club.

Mission The mission of the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor is to provide an attractive, comfortable and safe facility where its members, guests and children can meet to socialize, dine and take part in activities intended to promote fellowship, recreation, civic mindedness, and the enjoyment of waterborne sports such as sailing, motor boating , fishing and swimming.

Membership Process The following is the process for becoming a member of the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor: Submit an application, along with letters of sponsorship from two current members, to the Membership Committee. The applicant will be contacted for an interview with the Membership Committee. The application will be presented to the Board of Trustees.

Assuming approval by the Board of Trustees and providing there is no waiting list for membership, payment of the joining fee, annual dues and any other applicable fees will be requested. Upon receipt of payment, a membership card will be issued. For more information, please email [email protected] .

Reciprocity Reciprocity is offered to visitors who are members of sister yacht clubs. Visitors must contact the Club’s General Manager or the House Committee Chairman for extension of such privileges in each instance.

House Rules Admission 1. Members are required to show their membership cards when entering the Club.

2. Evening access to all Dining Areas and Bars is only through the main entrance and ADA access areas.

3. Guests: Guests must be accompanied by a member and registered in logbook. The conduct of each guest shall be the responsibility of the member.

4. Any non-member may not use the Club facilities as a guest, or attend any activity more than twice a year. Exceptions may be granted by the Commodore or Club Manager.

5. No alcoholic beverages may be brought to the Club.

6. The Club extends reciprocal use of its facilities to sister yacht clubs.

Columbia Yacht Club Membership Cost

As a club that generates a great feeling of camaraderie and pride among its members, officials, and employees, Columbia Yacht Club was already known since 1892 and remains appreciated until now. Its members and people are united by their love of yachts and sailing. Who wouldn’t? Cruising, racing, power boating, or quietly enjoying the scenery from the Club, all of these activities can be enjoyed if you are a member!  It always feels like “Welcome Aboard” at Columbia Yacht Club, whether it’s for exquisite dancing underneath the skies on the Club Ship’s aft balcony or informal dock gatherings; from calm morning breakfasts to twilight dinners; from the excitement of crews preparing for races to tranquil nights anchored at the Club’s docks.

The costs and dues for joining are determined by the member’s age as well as membership classification. Current attendees pay $500 at the start of the Provisional year and $500 at the conclusion of the year while $250 for junior members who are 18-30 years old.

How much does it cost to join the Columbia Yacht Club?

Yacht Clubs can be very expensive, especially for a boat owner. These membership clubs are solely for the purpose of leisure, celebrations, recreational sailing and boat activities. If you are planning to join the Columbia Yacht Club, here’s the money you need to prepare!

The costs and dues for joining are determined by the member’s age as well as membership classification. The Columbia yacht club membership fees for current regular members cost $1000 – can be paid half by half on the provisional and conclusion of the year. For junior members (ages 18 to 30) on the other hand, $500 is the cost of joining. Can also be divided into two separate payments. Once turned 31, they will be considered a regular member and need to pay double. 

If you are a Permanent or Affiliate member, you have full access to all of Columbia Yacht Club’s amenities, including 24-hour access at the Club Ship, eating rights in the private dining room, as well as a bar and patio seating on the bow. There are also no additional fees for the Club’s conference rooms and event facilities.
