Terrible communication of the event. Came early to get spot on Riverwalk, then discovered it was on other side of Manatee. Boardwalk closed. Risked life crossing Manatee. Information indicated start at 6pm. Waited stand on bridge with hundreds of others. Nothing but boaters coming to watch. Finally left. So disappointed.
It would be wonderful if the boats would travel east on the North side of Manatee River to the restaurants and travel west on the South side on their way back to the Yacht Club or vice versa. They did this many years ago. Really miss being able to see them from our backyard.

Being a long standing member of our yacht club in Wisconsin, and having a home in Bradenton, Florida, we decided to visit the Bradenton Yacht Club. They were not welcoming and are one of very few clubs that offer reciprocity, we couldn't even stop in as guests for a drink.
It's really a beautiful location and the views are to die for. The food is mediocre at best but again, the views are great. Often you will see groups of adults in the pool all day with beer cans. They never get out for bathroom breaks. It's a bit low-rent. There is a high turn-over of staff but it often seems like it is more about the staff and less about the members. Especially from the bartenders and manager. Many people seem to be allowed to bring in their own food, while others aren't. It is on a favorite basis. But again...the views are amazing.
The bartenders are SO good that they already know what you want before you order it!!! Chelby and Ashlee are friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable! Would definitely recommend for any event!!!
Food took forever and then one at our table wasn't correct. Said it would be 10 minutes longer for his. After 20 he still didn't have it. Said another 5 minutes. Never got entree and everyone else had been finished for some time. Tried to charge us for more glasses of wine than we had. Constantly had to seek out someone to handle each specific issue. Horrible service and left one person still hungry and a very unenjoyable evening.

Hi Connie, I am very sorry to read that your visit with us was less than enjoyable. The experience you relayed is certainly not typical of our club and we'd love the opportunity to earn your trust again. A few weeks ago we debuted our brand new kitchen and several delicious new menu options. It's a great time to give us another try! Please call me directly to discuss what night works best for you. ---Jennifer
Great place to hang out with family and friends. We come here all the time and it's an awesome place.
The band is awesome
I am the biggest fan of this yacht club. And during the COVID-19 risk, they have stepped up to provide their members with the best food on a delivery system that is second to none. My personal favorite is the 1947 salad, which I have ordered a number of times during the shutdown. My husband has a more varied culinary taste, and he has picked each of the sandwich options alternatively. We are so looking forward to returning to the social experience with our fellow members as soon as possible. And we love our staff. Thank you guys.
Great staff!! Super friendly, helpful, always consistent. It's so nice to walk into a place and have the staff remember your name. If you are looking for an unpretentious place to join, with fantastic amenities. ..this it is!
Eat here weekly. All new 1-million kitchen , new chef and excellent staff have created a top eating experience. This is a membership only club. The negative reviews are from questionable, non-member types. If you know a member, ask them to bring you.

The Great Mates
A 501(c)3 Organization
Since the inception of the Bradenton Yacht Club (BYC), wives of the members have always tried to make an impactful difference on the Club. In 1950 a Ladies Auxillary was authorized by the BYC. Today’s “The Great Mates, Inc.”, a volunteer organization, has gone through several growth evolutions since it was initially formed in 1958-59 when Peggy Greenwalt presided over the first meeting of what was then called the “Galley Maids.” However, even though its name and course changed, its mission has remained pretty much the same. The organizations have been guided by a volunteer Board of Directors (BOD) that have often been led by the BYC current Commodore’s spouse. Over the years, more than 55 different Presidents have lead the BOD. When formed, the Galley Maids primary purpose was to bring BYC women together to enjoy lunch, make new friends, improve the BYC life and have fun. They promoted and held annual sailing classes, held auctions and raffles to fund club improvements such as new furnishings for the dining and burgee rooms, and published a BYC activity newsletter for members. In the 1980’s, the Galley Maids became the “Great Mates.” The mission remained much the same with a few inclusions. Member luncheon meetings continued to be held once a month and each meeting had a topic or speaker of interest to the group. The group began to focus on Community contributions and involvement. The organization selected one local Manatee community need annually and donated thousands of dollars to them–raised from one themed fundraiser held that year. They also continued to identify and complete BYC improvement projects such as the Gazebo construction and the Ladies Restroom renovation project. In 2013 the Great Mates applied to become a tax exempt 501c3 public charity and in July, 2014 “The Great Mates, Inc.” were granted that status. Today, the group raises funds to award to local not-for-profit Manatee charities and scholarships for local students. Annual Galas are sponsored by The Great Mates to raise the funds. A monthly membership dinner meeting with guest speakers is held and membership is now open to spouses of our women members. Our mission still aligns with that envisioned by the original Galley Maids – that is to bring BYC women together to enjoy food, make new friends, improve the BYC life and have fun—while supporting the needs of our Community!
