2. Proceed to build the sides: Extend the base upwards by adding extra layers of blocks on all four sides. This will give the hull the desired height and shape.

3. Shape the bow: Gradually slope the blocks towards the center on both sides to create a pointed front end, giving the sailboat a sleek and streamlined appearance.

4. Install the stern: Continue building the sides until they meet at the back, forming a flat rear end. If you wish, you can add a small overhang for added detail.

5. Enhance the hull’s appearance: Add decorative blocks or slabs to give the hull a more appealing look. Consider incorporating features such as windows, portholes, or other design elements to add character to your sailboat.

6. Strengthen the structure: To prevent the hull from collapsing, reinforce it by adding vertical or horizontal support beams inside.

how to build a sailboat in minecraft

The world of the best Minecraft survival servers is long, vivid, and limitless. You can travel for hours and discover things that you couldn't even imagine. But unfortunately, many players miss out on half of the experience by simply sticking with the land. If you don't want to be one of them, you must learn how to make a boat in Minecraft. It is the only equipment you need to set sail and explore the infinite possibilities of the game's aquatic realm. Are you ready to embark on a journey of a lifetime and explore uncharted territories? Let's dive in!

How to Make a Boat in Minecraft

Note: Some of the mechanics discussed in our guide are based on the Minecraft Snapshot 23w14a . They are subject to change before the final release of the next major update.

Ingredients Required to Craft a Boat

You need to get the following items to build a boat in Minecraft:

  • 5 Wood Planks
  • 1 Shovel (Bedrock only)
  • Crafting Table

However, each type of wood does have a unique texture and, in some cases, a distinct design for the boat. If you want the freshest-looking boat, then we suggest you obtain the new pink cherry wood from the  Cherry Grove biome of Minecraft .

Make a Shovel in Minecraft

how to build a sailboat in minecraft

Creating a shovel in Minecraft is a straightforward process. Simply combine two sticks and a plank on the crafting table , and you're good to go. You can use any type of wooden plank available in the game to make a shovel. Though you can only use a wooden shovel to craft a boat, using any other material will disrupt the crafting process.

Now that you have all the required items, follow these steps to create a boat in Minecraft:

Crafting Recipe of a Raft

Boats have been a part of Minecraft for a long time but now, thanks to Minecraft 1.20 , you can even craft rafts in the game. Rafts work similarly to boats but offer a more streamlined appearance with a borderless design. Here's how to make one:

Luckily, you can combine a boat or a raft with a chest on the crafting table to create a floating vehicle with portable storage. However, keep in mind that once you add the chest, you won't be able to have another mob or player sit in the boat or raft with you.

How to Use a Boat in Minecraft

Now that you know how to make a boat in Minecraft, it's time to take your creation for a spin. Follow these steps to start your boating journey:

However, if you try this mechanic after the release date of Minecraft 1.20 , there is an extra restriction to it. In the latest version, boats and rafts can only carry mobs that are smaller than them. So, while a Panda might barely make the cut, the Sniffer will definitely have a hard time fitting onto your vehicle.

How to Make a Ship in Minecraft

Petra Dolovski

The Seas and Oceans of Minecraft are vast and hold many secrets just waiting to be found. There’s nothing like hopping into your Minecraft Boat and venturing off into the waters in search of Wrecks and finding buried Treasures .

In many of the Ocean Biomes you have certainly come across some of the many Shipwrecks that can be found along Beaches or the bottom of the Ocean.

Anytime I find one I am inspired by the design and wonder how I could make a ship of my very own for a port back at my base or village.

So, let’s go over some ways to build a ship in Minecraft.

Building a Small River Ship

Of course a ship doesn’t need to be an enormous vessel meant to travel through the seven seas. If you have a port more inland you can also build a small River ship as well!

You will first need to find a wider River to fit your ship in or simply terraform a little bit.

To start off we will be choosing our materials. I personally chose to use the kind of Wood I saw near the River before building.

I firstly place down Slabs at the depth of how deep I want my ship’s hull to be, or how deep I can. If your River is more shallow it’ll be good to use Slabs half a block above the bottom so that way the ship still seems to float.

With the Slabs I make a line as long as I want my ship to be and I’ll be using this as the center of the ship. The key and challenge will be keeping both sides symmetrical.

I alternate between normal Wood Plank blocks and Stairs and Slabs to make the shape of the ship. A thing that may help is making a basic outline to see how the whole thing will curve and look.

Boat

You want it to be a smooth curve and not something rough, kind of like you would when building a barn or stable roof .

With the small hull done I use Slabs to build the deck. Using Fences of a different type of wood I circle around the deck so it’s not so easy to fall off and make a small sail in the center of the deck with White Banners for the cloth.

Boat 2

The rest is all a matter of your personal style and decoration.

Boat 3

Using a Boat to Build a Small Ship

If building a ship like that from scratch is too much work and too big for you there is a fun alternative you can do that utilizes the original Boat you can craft in the game.

These ships can also be considered larger boats and mostly utilize blocks like Slabs, Trap Doors, and of course, the Boat to build them.

You start off similarly as you do with a larger ship. You will want to make it at least 4 blocks long along with Stairs on the ends just to give the ship a general shape.

Tiny boat

A Boat takes up two total blocks and we will be using it here so that when the build is finished the paddles on the Boat seem to be coming out of the side of our ship. The two (or more) additional blocks we have left we can use to place down a Barrel, Chest, or Crafting Table for us to use.

The sides you can line either with Signs of your chosen wood material or Trap Doors. I chose the Trap Doors, because I prefer the way they look.

Finally, we will once again use Fences and Banners to make our sail. Holding the CTRL button when placing the Fence on the Crafting Table or Barrel will stop you from accessing it as you place it down.

Tiny Boat finish

I make the sail just 3 blocks tall and add an extra Fence to the side, before hanging the 3 Banners along the length of it for the sail.

Building a Large Ship

To build a large vessel fit for the seas we’re going to need a lot of space, compared to our previous designs.

For this I suggest finding a spot farther away from land, preferably in the Ocean, Deep Ocean or just an overall deep Sea biome. We don’t want the bottom of our ship to reach the bottom of the Water or the shore.

Like with our river ship I will start this one off by making the center and spine. I am using regular Wood Plank blocks, making the center 3 blocks thick in total.

When I have my length I proceed to make the skeleton on either side, similarly as I did before. This way I can figure out the shape and size I want for the ship.

Big Boat

Once I have that much done I follow the same steps of filling in the outline and top deck and removing the Water with Sponges that may be remaining inside the lower deck.

Now, since this ship is bigger it means we can fit a lot more, both inside and on top of it. The inside I reserve for my make-belief crew. I use a Ladder on a wooden beam to descend down into the lower deck and one side I use to build the sleeping quarters.

The opposite side will be a small kitchen along with some general storage for the items I have on the ship.

Boat inside

In some cases it is a tight squeeze for building, but it makes it feel cozy.

On the top deck I put down some Barrels and Fences, along with a pair of makeshift canons made with polished blackstone walls. I think wlackstone looks good for these builds.

On the back of the ship I build a small platform where the ship’s steering wheel would be. If you have a bigger ship you can even build a captain’s room here.

In the center of the upper deck I use Spruce Logs to build up the large sail of our ship. Using Stairs at the very top I build a crows nest.

Since Banners would be too small for this sail, I use White Wool blocks at the very top to make it seem like a closed sail. If you want an open sail you can do so using the same blocks.

Boat finish

Finally all that would be left are the details on the inside and outside.

For ships like these getting lighting down is important, so using Torches or Lanterns is crucial. If a Mob such as a Creeper spawns somewhere on the ship a single explosion could ruin all of your work and leave you stranded at Sea.

To combat this you can turn off Mob griefing or light up every part of your ship that you can.

Obtaining [ ]

Boats can be crafted with any Overworld planks; crimson and warped planks cannot be used to make boats. [1]

Boats can be retrieved by repeatedly hitting them until they drop as an item.

♥

Crafting [ ]

Boats can be used for the transportation of players and mobs , sold for emeralds, or burnt as fuel.

Trading [ ]

Master-level fisherman villagers always offer to buy a boat for an emerald . The type of boat depends on the biome outfit type of the villager; plains villagers offer to buy oak boats, taiga and snowy villagers offer to buy spruce boats, savanna villagers offer to buy acacia boats, desert and jungle villagers offer to buy jungle boats, and swamp villagers offer to buy dark oak boats.

A boat used as fuel in a furnace lasts 60 seconds, smelting up to 6 items.

Transportation [ ]

Entering [ ].

A player enters a boat by using it, if the boat is not fully occupied (boats can hold two entities). Unlike beds , there is no message above the hotbar for attempting to enter a fully occupied boat. [2]

Exiting [ ]

A boat can be exited by sneaking or, in Bedrock Edition , pressing down the right analog stick on a controller, tapping the "Leave Boat" button when using touch controls, or jumping . When exiting a boat, the player is placed in the direction the player is facing, or, if facing directly up or down, the player is placed in front of the boat. The exiting player is placed on land if possible from the dismounting position.

Boats do not turn with mouse-look.

With a keyboard or gamepad, boats are controlled using the forward , left (turns left), right (turns right), and backward keys. Using the sprint key increases the field of vision, but does not increase speed as if sprinting .

With touchscreen controls, two buttons for steering appear. The right button or key steers to the left, and the left button or key steers to the right. Pressing both buttons or keys moves the boat forward.

In Java Edition , boats can be ridden against a current, but cannot be ridden upstream to a higher elevation. A boat lift, usually made from tripwire, pistons, and optionally a slime block, can be used to move a boat up. Bubble columns created with soul sand can also be used to push boats upward. These mechanisms can also be used in Bedrock Edition but are usually unnecessary because boats can be ridden upward in descending water, as well as follow upward stair-step currents .

Behavior [ ]

Boats move according to the player's control or water currents, with speed affected by the surface traversed. Boats move extremely quickly on ice, [3] allowing for the construction of fast transportation systems in any dimension.

Floatation [ ]

The animation of an oak boat when atop a bubble column .

A boat floats atop still or flowing water. In Java Edition , a boat sinks if it enters a waterfall. [4] In Bedrock Edition , a boat does not sink when submerged but floats up. This feature lets a player contrive stepped uphill water flows to propel a boat uphill using only flowing water.

When a boat moves over a bubble column, it begins to shake. If the bubbles are caused by a magma block , all passengers are expelled and the boat sinks.

In Java Edition , a sunken boat cannot be re-floated until a bubble column pushes it up or it is broken by the player. In Bedrock Edition , a boat resumes floating when it emerges from the currents keeping it down, or when the bubble column is blocked or removed.

Dolphins chase players riding a boat in motion, occasionally bumping the boat, causing it to shake briefly.

Destruction [ ]

Boats can be destroyed by explosions, fire and lava (but not magma blocks), cactus, and by being punched by mobs, such as Drowned . Boats made invulnerable with commands cannot be broken by any of these, but they still cannot be used to travel on lava because they sink.

When a boat is destroyed under normal conditions, it drops itself in item form. In certain conditions, such as when falling for exactly 12, 13, 49, 51, 111, 114, 198, 202, 310, or 315 blocks, [5] it drops two sticks and three planks upon being destroyed.

Passengers [ ]

Multiple mobs in 2 boats

Multiple mobs in 2 types of boats.

Boats can support two riders, including mobs . Except for endermen in Bedrock Edition , a mob cannot exit a boat and is trapped until the boat gets destroyed, or until the player uses a fishing rod or lead to remove the mob. This can be used to transport mobs, although hostile mobs still attack while in boats. Mobs riding a boat don't despawn‌ [ Java Edition only ] and don't count toward the mob cap. [6]

A player cannot both move (row) and use items at the same time. It is still possible to initialize item use (e.g. start eating) and row the boat while the item is still in the middle of the use animation. Although the rowing animation overrides the item use animation, the item can still be successfully consumed. This does not work with items that are triggered by the release of the use button (such as bows and tridents ).‌ [ Java Edition only ]

Being in a boat limits the player's mouse-look to the forward 210° arc in Java Edition and 180° in Bedrock Edition .

Underwater boat cannot be ridden. When the boat is underwater, all passengers in it are expelled.

Damage prevention [ ]

Riding a boat does not deplete hunger , making it an efficient way to travel.

Boats can completely nullify fall damage for themselves and any players/mobs inside, making them useful for travel through mountains or through the Nether. [7] [8] However in Java Edition , due to a bug, boats can break when falling from certain heights, and the riders take fall damage. [5]

Collision [ ]

A boat has a solid collision box, which means players and other entities can't go through it even with high speed. Falling blocks are also blocked by boats.

In Java Edition , a boat falling on top of an entity stops on top of the entity. in Bedrock Edition , a falling boat can go through other entities.

Riding a boat over a lily pad causes the lily pad to drop, although the boat's speed stutters a bit.

Most mobs can ride boats. Mobs cannot exit the boat unless the boat is destroyed, sinks, or moves over a bubble column. However, in Bedrock Edition , endermen are able to teleport out of boats.

Mobs can be picked up into the boat when they collide with the side of the boat. A mob cannot control the boat. In Java Edition , a boat being ridden by a player cannot pick up a mob. In Bedrock Edition , mobs can be picked up by a boat being ridden by a player.

Mobs wider than the width of a boat cannot be picked up by a boat. Wardens , and withers cannot be picked up by a boat. In Java Edition , baby sniffers cannot be picked up either.

In Java Edition , leads cannot be attached to boats. In Bedrock Edition , leads can be attached to boats, though the lead can break when stretched too far due to boats moving much slower on land.

Java Edition : Boats use the Friendly Creatures sound category for entity-dependent sound events.

Bedrock Edition :

Oak Boat JE3

Issues relating to "Boat" are maintained on the bug tracker . Report issues there .

  • Sand , red sand , concrete powder , gravel , anvils , and dragon eggs drop as items when they fall onto a boat that is in water.
  • A chest is short enough that a boat falls onto it rather than crashes into it.
  • In Legacy Console Edition , holding the movement stick to the side in a boat on blue ice causes the player to spin quickly. If a passenger is in the boat while this occurs, when the player exits the boat after it reaches maximum velocity (attained after about three seconds), for most mobs, the mob's head may spin uncontrollably. For some mobs, however, nothing happens (such as slimes and ghasts ). The mob may also get its head stuck at an angle. Thorough testing was done on Minecraft: Wii U Edition, although the glitch was originally discovered on the Xbox 360 Edition.

How to Make A Minecraft Lead & Use It + Pros & Cons [2024]

A s most of us do in real life, Minecraft also allows you to keep pets. And when you have pets, you want to take them outside for a stroll from time to time. Unfortunately, the Minecraft world is not as safe as the real world towards animals. Hostile mobs do not care to differentiate between helpless animals and your armed character. That’s where a lead comes handy.

Table of Contents

What is a lead, who can i use a lead on, the salient features and limitations of a lead, 1. chest loot, 2. wandering traders, 3. crafting, using the lead.

A lead in Minecraft is a leash used to restrain animals, some monsters and most “ passive “ mobs to a fence or a wall ( Bedrock Edition only). This will allow your companion to rest easy while you go take care of any threats or obstacles you’ve observed in the distance that might hinder you or pose a threat.

READ MORE: How to Make A Fence in Minecraft -The 2024 Definitive Guide ➜

You can use a lead on the following creatures:

  • Skeleton Horse
  • Trader Llama
  • Zombie Horse

In Bedrock Edition, you can use a lead to tie a boat to a fence or wall.

A lead is by no means a sturdy object. It has many limitations which everyone should be aware of:

  • A lead has a maximum length of  10 blocks . Usually, a mob tied with a lead tends to move only 5 blocks  away from the fence/wall it has been tied to.
  • If the creature attached to the lead dies, the lead remains intact .
  • If a mob tied with a lead is moving very quickly towards the opposite direction, the lead will  break .
  • The lead will  break  if you press the “ use item ” control on the mob again. The “use item” control refers to a right-click on PC , tapping on the mob on mobile or pressing the left trigger on a console ( LT  on Xbox, L2 on PlayStation and ZL on the Nintendo Switch ).

Hitting the  knot  of the lead, destroying the fence/wall it is attached to, or damaging the lead with a  projectile  will cause it to break .

  • You can use a lead on mobs attacking you. These leads will not break.
  • Multiple leads can be attached to a single fence. However, all the leads will break if that fence is destroyed.
  • Leads cannot be used on wolves if they’re angry.
  • Mobs that can randomly despawn , will do so even if they’re on a lead.
  • If a leaded mob walks into a  nether portal and the player doesn’t, it will cause the lead to be break and be dropped in the other dimension.
  • If a hoglin  attached to a lead transforms into a zoglin, the lead will break.
  • If a mob can be leaded, you can use the lead to remove it from the boat without destroying the boat.

Where Can I Get a Lead?

A lead is an uncommon item. Therefore, it is a bit bothersome to find but not too much. There are 3 ways of obtaining a lead:

  • Wandering Traders

Now, let’s discuss each of these sources in detail.

The loot from chests is a source of several rare and uncommon items in Minecraft . This also holds true for leads in Minecraft. In the case of trail ruins , you’ll have to hunt for suspicious gravel instead of chests, which is a bit rare. At any rate, here are the locations and the drop rates of the sources for leads you can hope to find in the Java Edition of Minecraft :

For the Bedrock Edition , you have an additional source, so it’s much easier to find a lead in that edition. This new source also has a chance of dropping additional leads; up to 3 .

Wandering traders are randomly spawned mobs that have 2 trader llamas with them. While they sell a variety of goods, they don’t exactly sell the leads you’re looking to get. Instead, the leads you want are hooked on to the llama. In order to get them for yourself, you’ll have to do any one of the following actions. These actions will cause the lead to drop on the ground like loot:

PRO TIP: If the issue is with your computer or a laptop/notebook you should try using Fortect Repair which can scan the repositories and replace corrupt and missing files. This works in most cases, where the issue is originated due to a system corruption. You can download Fortect by Clicking Here

  • Kill the trader
  • Kill the llamas
  • Drag llamas far apart
  • Place the llamas in either a boat or minecart .

This method is probably the most logical option for most Minecraft players. This way, you can stockpile the materials and craft a lead any time you need one. Naturally, first we’ll be looking at the requirements of crafting a lead:

  • A Slimeball

Now let’s look at how you can get both these components.

The string is a raw material and one of the few items that cannot be crafted. It’s pretty common and there are multiple ways to get some strings. If you’ve opted to go chest hunting for the lead, you might have gotten some string if you were unlucky. The easiest way, however, would be to kill spiders and cave spiders . Destroying cobwebs also drops strings.

2. Slimeball

Slimeballs may be a bit bothersome, but are still common. There are only 3 ways of obtaining a slimeball. Of these 3, the best is to just go deep underground, or in a swamp biome , and kill a slime . Slimes are block-shaped hostile mobs that will spawn below Y level 40 underground, or between Y level 51-69 provided that the light levels are less than 7 .

Other than that, there’s a small chance that a wandering trader may offer you a slimeball for 4 emeralds .

Crafting the lead

It shouldn’t take you long to gather the ingredients. Once you have them all, follow this recipe and craft the lead with your Crafting Table .

Using a lead is very simple. Follow the steps below:

Firstly, equip the lead from your inventory.

Next, use it on the creature you want to leash.

A rope will be shown tied to the creature. Now, gently lead the creature to wherever you want it tied down to. Keep in mind that the lead’s range is only limited to 10 blocks.

Finally, use the leash on the fence post to tie down the creature. In Bedrock Edition, you can also tie it to a wall, but the lead must be equipped to your  main hand .

A lead is perfect for keeping your pets at bay while you set off to explore . If you have a farm, there’s no better tool to keep your animals enclosed and within the farm boundaries. Therefore, you should craft plenty of fences for your base so that you have a place to tie down any creatures you want to keep. However, keep in mind that the string has limitations and it is not very durable or sturdy.

A lead is a tool used to tie down “passive mobs”, which includes most animals, to a fence or wall (Bedrock Edition only). It is not a very durable object and has a range of 10 blocks.

There are only 3 ways to get a lead; craft one, get the wandering trader’s llamas to drop one, or to find one in a chest.

To craft a lead, you need 4 strings and 1 slimeball. You can easily get a string by killing spiders or destroying cobwebs, while a slimeball is conveniently obtained by killing a slime found deep underground.

Minecraft: how to get breeze rods.

So, to get Breeze Rods in Minecraft , you need to kill the Breeze enemies. This is a lot like farming Blaze Rods with Blaze mobs. But in the Breeze's case, you don't need to go to The Nether for them.

Instead, players need to look for Trial Chambers . These structures are randomly generated in the world, so be prepared to spend time searching for them. When you get to one of the dungeons, you have to be careful. Various enemies will be waiting for you inside, including Breeze.

Breeze is similar in appearance to Blaze, but attacks you with wind charges from a distance. At the same time, the projectiles do not cause any damage to them. Therefore, you will have to get closer to kill this mob. Once you do this, you can get Breeze Rods in Minecraft . But it is important to note that the drop chance of this item is not 100%. Therefore, you will need several tries.

5 Best Features In Minecraft 1.21 So Far

How to use breeze rods in minecraft.

Foremost, with one Breeze Rod, you can make four Wind Charges. These projectiles can be thrown at mobs to cause damage and knock them back. In addition, players can craft the Mace .

For it, you need to combine Breeze Rod and Heavy Core. This is one of the best weapons in the game, as it can both deal great damage and knock back enemies. Therefore, you should have several Breeze Rods in your chests.

That's all you need to know about how to get and use Breeze Rods in Minecraft . This resource drops from only one mob in the game, so it will take you a lot of time to get it. However, without it, players will not be able to craft useful weapons.

Crews scramble to build temporary channel for 'essential' ships at Baltimore port

Six days after a container ship's catastrophic crash into a Baltimore bridge , authorities were preparing to establish a temporary alternate channel to allow "commercially essential" ships to navigate through one of the nation's busiest ports.

Coast Guard Capt. David O'Connell said the 11-foot-deep temporary route will be marked with lights and represents part of a phased approach to opening the main channel. A 2,000-yard safety zone remains in effect around the Francis Scott Key Bridge site to protect salvage workers, ships and the marine environment, according to the Unified Command representing multiple agencies and led by O'Connell.

“This will mark an important first step along the road to reopening the Port of Baltimore,” O’Connell said. The alternate route will allow some marine traffic into Baltimore, he said. No ships or people will be permitted to enter the safety zone without obtaining permission from the port.

The cargo ship Dali, which weighs 95,000 tons when empty, was loaded with thousands of containers when it rammed the bridge Tuesday . The crew issued a mayday moments before the collision, allowing authorities to halt traffic before the bridge collapsed into the Patapsco River. However, six workers patching potholes on the bridge were killed. Two bodies have been recovered and four others are believed trapped underwater in the tangle of steel and concrete.

Authorities are scrambling to reopen the Port of Baltimore, blocked by the crumbled, 1.6-mile-long bridge and the damaged but apparently seaworthy Dali. The port handles more cars, heavy trucks and agriculture equipment than any other "inside this country," Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said. He provided no timeline for clearing out the massive debris.

“We have a ship that is nearly the size of the Eiffel Tower that is now stuck within the channel that has the Key Bridge sitting on top of it,” Moore said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

How Francis Scott Key Bridge was lost: A minute-by-minute visual analysis of the collapse

Developments:

∎ President Joe Biden will visit the site of the bridge collapse Friday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Monday.

∎ The Biden administration quickly approved Moore's initial request of $60 million to begin the debris cleanup, but much more will be needed to rebuild the bridge. The Democratic governor asked Congress to work together to assign the funds, not as a favor to his state but "because the port of Baltimore is instrumental in our larger economic growth," he told CNN.

200-ton section of bridge removed from wreckage

The first major section of debris was removed late Sunday from the debris field that has blocked entry into the Port of Baltimore, authorities said. A 200-ton piece of the bridge was lifted by crane, but thousands of tons of debris remain in the river and atop the ship, Moore said. Authorities are still devising a plan for removing it, he said.

"We're talking about huge pieces," Moore told ABC News . "I mean, just sitting on the Dali, you're looking at 3,000 or 4,000 tons of steel. Sitting on top of the ship."

The bridge took five years to build. President Joe Biden has pledged federal funds to rebuild it, but authorities say they can't estimate the cost or time required until they fully examine the damage below the surface.

EPA at scene to mitigate impacts to environment

On scene coordinators and technical specialists with the Environmental Protection Agency remain on the ground providing technical advice on the environmental portions of the bridge response, the agency said.

The EPA is working with the Coast Guard and others on a unified command team "to minimize any potential environmental impacts resulting from the bridge collapse,” EPA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Adam Ortiz.

The coordinators will review information from the incident command team regarding hazardous cargo on the Dali to provide recommendations. Last week, the Coast Guard said 14 of the 56 containers on board with potentially hazardous material were damaged when a section of the bridge fell onto the deck. Those materials were primarily soaps and perfumes, officials said. Containment booms have been established in the water to try to keep any products from spreading beyond the scene.

The federal emergency response plan designates the Coast Guard as the lead agency for events related to potential or actual releases of oil or hazardous substances originating in navigable waterways such as the area of the Patapsco where the bridge collapsed.

Prayer service held for the victims

Searchers on Wednesday recovered the bodies of Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes, 35, and Dorlian Castillo Cabrera, 36, from a pickup submerged in 25 feet of water. The search for the other victims was delayed because of treacherous conditions.

The Rev. Ako Walker held a Mass in Spanish at Sacred Heart of Jesus, about 5 miles up the Patapsco River from the collapse, the Associated Press reported. The workers weren't parishioners there, but Walker said he reached out to the families because the Latino community in Baltimore is large and closely connected. Walker told the AP he hopes their sacrifice encourages people to embrace migrant workers seeking better lives for themselves and their communities.

Latino communities 'rebuilt' Baltimore: Now they're grieving bridge collapse victims

"We have to be bridges for one another even in this most difficult situations," Walker told AP. "Our lives must be small bridges of mercy of hope of togetherness and of building communities."

What Are Ominous Trials and How Do They Work in Minecraft 1.21

' src=

  • Ominous trials are a harder version of the trial spawner challenge found in Minecraft 1.21's trial chambers.
  • To activate, get close to a trial spawner with the Bad Omen effect. This will cause the spawner to turn blue and become the ominous trial spawner.
  • The best reward from this hard challenge is an ominous trial key, which can open ominous vaults that offer you valuable items.

What Are Ominous Trials?

Ominous trials in action

How to Start Ominous Trials in Minecraft 1.21

Step 1: get ominous bottle.

  • First, defeat the raid captain who spawns as part of the pillager patrol. This will be a pillager with the ominous banner above their head.

Pillager raid captain

  • Once you kill them, you’ll receive an ominous bottle. It will apply the Bad Omen effect when you drink it. The effect’s level may be anywhere from 1 to 5.

Step 2: Use Ominous Bottle Before Starting Trial

The Bad Omen effect is only a transitional effect . You may enter a village and it will turn into Raid Omen, shortly after which the raid will begin. But, if you enter a trial chamber structure and get close to a regular trial spawner, it will turn into an ominous trial spawner.

Step 3: Ominous Trial Working

  • Wind Charged (affected mob will create a wind burst explosion upon death)
  • Weaving (affected mob will spread cobwebs upon death)
  • Oozing (affected mob will spawn two medium slimes upon death)
  • Infested (affected mob has a 5% chance to spawn 1-2 silverfish when hurt)

Mob effects applied to the player

If the trial spawner already spawned some mobs before it turned into its ominous version, all the previous mobs will despawn, and you’ll get a new challenge. Defeating all mobs spawned by the ominous trial spawner will cause it to spit out items and then go into cooldown.

What Are the Ominous Trial Rewards

  • Ominous Bottle III – V,
  • Enchanted Golden Apple,
  • Flow Banner Pattern and Flow Armor Trim Smithing Template,
  • Wind Burst, Breach, and Density Enchantments for the Mace ,
  • Heavy Core ,
