KOGO is a 71.7m (235.2ft) yacht with an ice-classed steel hull and aluminium superstructure built to Lloyd’s classification and MCA compliance, and delivered by French shipyard Alstom Leroux Naval in 2006. Her exterior design is by Tim Heywood, Terence Disdale Design created her interiors and naval architecture is by Burness Corlett Three Quays. KOGO, winner of the World Superyacht of the Year award in 2007, has recently undergone her 15-year survey.

Her sun deck has a large jacuzzi forward flanked by sun pads and sheltered by glass screens, and aft there is an al fresco dining area with bar, sheltered by sliding screens either side and more sun pads aft.

Her bridge deck saloon offers a variety of social spaces with a bar, gaming table and lounge area, with sliding glass doors opening out onto a large sun lounge for relaxation or entertainment.

This space also doubles as an outdoor cinema.

Her main deck has a versatile formal dining room to port, seating two tables of eight or one table of 16, all enjoying excellent views out through large picture windows.

To starboard is the main saloon, which doubles as a state-of-the-art entertainment centre.

From the aft main deck steps lead down to a fold-down swim platform and a large beach club area well suited to parties.

Disdale describes KOGO’s interiors as ‘clean modern lines with a Zen influence.’ There is a calming aura of balance on board as one descends to the lower deck, where guests can work out in a well-equipped gym, sweat it out in a steam room, freshen up in a shower room before enjoying a soothing rub down in the massage room.

The spacious owner’s suite is forward on the main deck. The bedroom is to starboard and there is a lounge-study area to port with two walk-in wardrobes and a bathroom forward with his-and-hers wash and shower facilities and a shared bath. She has two double cabins on the main deck and, on the lower deck, two further double cabins and two twin cabins complete versatile accommodation for 14, attended to by up to 21 crew.

Diesel electric propulsion is provided by twin Caterpillar 3512B engines driving two ABB Azipod drives that together with the Brunvoll bowthruster enable dynamic positioning. She has a top speed of 17kn, a cruising speed of 15kn and a range of 5,000nm at 11kn.  Four Quantum zero speed stabilisers ensure stability at anchor and there is a helipad for access in remote locations.

$7M price drop on 72m Alstom motor yacht Kogo

A $7,000,000 price reduction has been announced on the 71.7-metre motor yacht Kogo ahead of her appearance at the Palm Beach International Boat Show . She is currently listed for sale with Burgess .

Designed by Tim Heywood , Kogo was built with an ice-classed steel hull by French yard Alstom Marine to Lloyd's class and delivered in 2006. A Terence Disdale interior accommodates 14 guests in seven cabins comprising a master suite, two VIP suites, two doubles and two twins. All cabins have entertainment centres, flatscreen television sets and en suite bathroom facilities while crew quarters are in 12 cabins for a team of 22.

A spacious main saloon with inviting U-shaped sofas is perfect for enjoying the yacht’s state-of-the-art entertainment systems, or for more formal gatherings. Guests may use the space to gather for pre-dinner drinks before proceeding to the dining room which can comfortably accommodate a party of up to 18.

The upper deck sky lounge provides guests with a touch of the exotic, where dark woods contrast with crackled lacquers and shagreen furniture.

On-deck amenities are found in abundance aboard Kogo , with several opportunities for al fresco dining and entertaining, while the sundeck hosts a Jacuzzi pool flanked by built-in sun beds. On the other side of the mast is a helicopter landing pad. 

Kogo is powered by two 2,145hp diesel-electric engines driving two ABB Azipods for a top speed of 17 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Four Quantum zero speed stabilisers keep her steady at anchor and she is also MCA compliant.

Kogo is now asking $62,500,000. She is lying in Safe Harbor Rybovich marina and will be available for select viewings during the Palm Beach International Boat Show.

Motor yacht KOGO is an important 71,71m (235′ 3″) superyacht that combines a striking  Tim Heywood exterior design with superior construction quality by Alstom and a wonderful Terence Disdale interior. Delivered in 2006, Yacht KOGO with a length of over 71 meters raised the standard for large superyachts with her arrival.

Expertly designed and equipped, motor yacht KOGO is the ultimate private yacht with a range of facilities onboard ideal for entertaining, relaxing or healthy living including an outdoor stage / concert facility on the upper deck helipad, a fully equipped gymnasium with adjacent steam room and large Spa Pool dip pool with jet stream.

The inspired design of superyacht KOGO by  Terence Disdale Design has created theme of “Warm Sophistication”, “feeling of Zen” and “a Natural Elegance” throughout the superyacht. Luxury yacht KOGO boasts many interesting finishes and textures, together with Oriental flavours creating a subtle yet stylish interior scheme complemented by soft, warm, neutral tones that lend an atmosphere of spacious tranquillity and relaxation.

KOGO boasts a spacious zen-like main saloon with a gigantic and inviting ‘U’ shaped sofa couch ideal for informal get togethers, pre dinner drinks, enjoying movies on the massive Plasma TV screen or the yacht’s state of the art entertainment systems. The elegant dining area can seat 18 guests for a gourmet meal prepared in the galley by the experienced chef. Large, Japanese-style sliding doors can be closed for an intimate meal or opened up so that these two areas flow into one vast full beam space.

M/Y KOGO provides sumptuous accommodation for up to 12 guests in 7 cabins. The owners suite is located on the main deck forward and spans the full width of the yacht boasting a large centreline bed, his and hers en suite bathrooms and dressing rooms and  a private and very comfortable sitting room and study to port. There are also 2 VIP suites on the main deck. The remaining cabins including a 2 spacious doubles and 2 twin cabins are located in the lower deck, each with dressing areas and ensuite bathrooms.  

The KOGO yacht’s lower deck comprises of a professionally and fully-equipped dive room aft that is ideally situated for guests who enjoy their water sports. Forward of the dive room there is a well equipped gymnasium and a mosaic-lined steam room directly across the lobby, the perfect spot to relax after a full workout.  There is also a massage room where mood lighting and textured, verdigris walls generate a wonderful environment for relaxation and pampering.  The four spacious guest cabins on this level are accessed via the “Oriental Lobby” further forward.

The dramatic main stairway featuring hand-carved dark wood walls leads guests to the upper deck lounge boasting a touch of the exotic, where dark woods contrast with crackled lacquers and shagreen furniture to give an “ethnic lodge” feel. The upper lounge or ‘sky lounge’ is a great social area where guests can relax in comfort and style while ordering a drink from the bar, playing cards, enjoy the amazing vistas through the large windows or simply relaxing on the oversized plush couch.

Megayacht KOGO has an equally impressive and inviting exterior layout. Forward on the top deck, there is a huge Spa Pool dip pool with jet stream that is surrounded by cushions, chairs and loungers, the perfect spot to lap up the warm Caribbean or Mediterranean sun. On the sundeck aft there is a large round table able to host 18 guests for al-fresco dining. An innovative design of KOGO allows for a full stage and band facilities to be set up on the aft part of the upper deck making her ideal for entertaining or functions. In addition to the large Sundeck dining table there are further locations throughout the yacht’s decks to enjoy a more intimate dining experience.

Yacht KOGO has a fantastic array of water sport toys and equipment and is also equipped with Zero speed (at anchor) stabilizers and zero movement dynamic positioning system will ensure the ultimate comfort of guests at all times.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

The multi-award winning 71.71m/235'3" expedition yacht 'Kogo' was built by Alstom in France at their Lorient shipyard. Her interior is styled by English designer design house Terence Disdale and she was completed in 2006. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Tim Heywood Design and she was last refitted in 2021.

Powered by twin electric ABB (Azipods) 2,145hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 15 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots with a range of up to 7,000 nautical miles from her 202,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. Kogo features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 57,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register ✠100A1, SSC Yacht (P), Mono G6, Ice Class 1B, LMC, LMS classification society rules.
