Buffet food here - yummy. Food was so yummy. The bill was appropriate for the quality.

My family comes here a few times a year for crab leg night. Most of the time they are pretty good but every now and then they have an off night. Our favorite server is Sharon. We always try to get seated in her section if we can. She is awesome!

Sunday night Buffet was outstanding?. Everything from fabulous pho to unbelievably moist and succulent prime rib. Definitely a worthy spread! Everything was prepared and served with all the fixings by an amazing team of cooks. Extraordinary service! Will certainly return again!!

It's a decent nice riverboat casino. Nice mix of machines and tables. A little smoky, but decent friendly staff.

It was on a river boat. Nothing fancy on the inside. The water fall which was the main attraction was not working. The buffett was closed down. Seemed a bit out dated. Needs to be remolded and painted on the outside.

This casino is okay and basic. Friendly staff and location is close to downtown. Clean. Often overlooked as their are snazzier casinos in KC. Only a couple of restaurants that I have not tried. Plenty of close free parking and can handle parking for big trucks. Medium size so good if you do not like to walk forever. Lots of newer slots and has table games too. Payouts are better than some KC casinos

It's hard to turn down all-you-can-eat crab legs, but isle of Capri makes it easier to do. The crab legs were tiny, the other seafood was almost inedible because of the seasoning on the boiled shrimp, clams, etc. The oysters were quite popular with other diners, but not my place to critique because I only tried one (for the first time). Many of the sides were just so-so and because so few people were diining the night we went the sides sat out a long time without being refreshed. In conclusion, if I'm going out for crab legs in Kansas City I will go back to other locations. It's only fair to tell you that I did have two free buffets for this location, and I am still struggling to find good things to say about it.

Kansas City, MO has a number of casinos, and for us, Isle of Capri was the best. The variety of slot machines kept us interested and playing for nearly three hours the first night. I came out ahead, while my husband lost, but we don't go in expecting to win big. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and the smoke level was minimal. Free soft drinks is always a plus, and the coffee was always fresh. Some casinos have a 'rough crowd' but we never experienced that at Isle of Capri. People were friendly, having a good time, and we saw a number of people hit pretty big jackpots!

I love casinos ( with the exception of the cigarette smoke they allow). These are my "wayside rest" areas.... I stop often at casinos along my route. We stopped here for a reprieve from a long drive to rest and walk around... stretch a bit. It was Saturday evening around 8 pm. Busy place. There is a good restaurant Lone Wolf Grill. Good food, large portions, but NO beer offerings beyond the regular redneck offerings of Bud Light, Miller... that type of thing. They should offer a few IPA's for people too. The bartender DID say we could get one on the gaming floor, but not in the bar. WHAT?? Ok... lost a 6 beer sale to us. Microbrews are SO popular... WHY would a bar not offer one? The casino was busy, and sitting next to someone who was smoking was unbearable... the smoke just wafted around, lingering in the air. Their ventilation syatem is lousy. But... casinos are fo gambling and smoking, so I just covered my nose with my jacket. The machines were friendly. I saw lots of people winning, and I won too, as did my husband. since people go to casinos to enjoy gaming, I rate this casino well because for the shour 2 hours we were there, we played lots and left ahead. Good selection of machines, and easy to navigate around. I would go back.

Casinos in Kansas City, MO – Map & Information

With 4 casinos on the Missouri side and 2 others just across the Kansas border, there are plenty of options for visitors or residents of Kansas City to scratch their gambling itch.

From a small slots-only joints to luxurious Las Vegas-style resorts, the Kansas City metropolitan area has a thriving gambling market. The Missouri Gaming Commission says that the three casinos north of the Missouri River alone see over 6.3 million visitors a year.

The area’s six casinos are all within a ½ hour drive of downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

We’ll break these down in more detail below, but overall, five of the six are what you’d consider to be nice, traditional casinos – ones with regular slot machines, table games like craps, roulette, blackjack, etc. You have to be 21 or older to play here.

All but one are set on the banks of the Missouri River, and all 5 of these main casinos are clean, spacious, with all the usual games. Three have nice hotels attached, along with a variety of restaurants, showrooms, along with many of the amenities you would find at Las Vegas resorts.

A sixth casino is a small Indian-run slots-only casino in Kansas City, Kansas.

• Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City

By far the largest of the KC-area casinos, the Ameristar is 8 ½ miles northeast of downtown Kansas City. This equates to just a 15 to 25 minute drive most times.

The two levels of gaming are beautiful, with an ornate, Victorian décor. And with 140,000 square feet of casino space, Ameristar is larger than many of the casinos on the Las Vegas Strip.

Here at this Boyd Gaming property, you’ll find 2,200 slot machine/video poker machines, along with 66 table games. You’ll find all the usual favorites here, including blackjack, roulette and craps. The high limit room takes bets up to $10,000! There’s also a baccarat pit and a 13 table poker room.

Opened in 1997, the rest of the resort has a charming old village motif with the pretty blue faux sky ceilings you often see at casinos.

In addition to an attached 184 room hotel, Ameristar Kansas City has an 18 screen theater, meeting space, and the Star Pavilion showroom, which holds concerts for up to 1,350 guests.

As of this late 2021 update, there are six dining options at the Ameristar Kansas City (the popular buffet was an early Covid casualty, and it looks to be closed permanently).

There is, however, the following:

• The Great Plains Cattle Company steakhouse (a 16 ounce slow-roasted prime rib goes for $45. There’s seafood too).
• Amerisports Brewpub – which boasts a cool vibe and huge TV screen. Typical sports bar fare here (burgers, pizza, wings), along with “Ghost fries.”
• Willy & Joe’s Cantina – with house-made tacos and 16 different brands of Tequila. As of this update, they still have a pretty good happy hour deal (Monday – Thursday: 4PM to 6 PM), featuring $2 tacos (chicken or beef), and $1.25 chips & salsa.
• Big Tony’s Pizza (quick bite)
• An Pho – Vietnamese (quick bite)
• The Burger Joint (quick bite)

The attached 5 level parking garage holds room for over 2,600 vehicles. Per figures from the Missouri Gaming Commission , the Ameristar Kansas City is the most popular casino in the region, (based on total gaming revenue and number of admissions.)

• Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa

The Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa opened back in 1994 as the Kansas City area’s first riverboat casino. And it was a true riverboat too, floating up and down the Missouri River.

It’s now permanently docked of course, on beautiful grounds just around 7 ½ miles northwest of downtown, or roughly a 12 to 20 minute drive.

The 62,000 square foot casino has around 1,500 slot machines, and 37 table games. Attached to the casino is a 258 room hotel, spa, along with five restaurants, including a buffet.

Harrah’s Kansas City

Part of the Caesars Entertainment chain of hotel/casinos, this resort is the second busiest casino in the area, and located 6 ½ miles northwest of downtown. It’s normally just a 10 to 20 minute drive.

Here you’ll find 1,500 slot machines/video poker machines, and 45-plus table games. They even offer 100x odds on craps! If you don’t care for the live version, there are electronic versions of craps, blackjack and roulette.

Harrah’s KC’s 13 table poker room is plush, with 13 large plasma TVs. Promotions include both high-hand and bad-beat jackpots.

Their lineup of restaurants includes Gordon Ramsey Steak, Winning Streaks sports bar, the Bite & Bean coffee bar, and the Royal Noodle Bar. Harrah’s Voodo Lounge concert venue has room for 1,200 guests.

And while it’s only the third largest casino in the region, Harrah’s KC boasts the largest hotel of the region’s casinos, with 392 rooms.

Hollywood Casino at Kansas City Speedway

The most distant of the six KC-area casino, the Hollywood Casino is across the border into Kansas, but still just 16 miles directly west of downtown.

Just off of I-70 (the Kansas Turnpike), it would take you only around 20 to 25 minutes to drive.

Opened in February 2012, it’s the second largest casino in the KC area, at 100,000 square feet of casino space, complete with 2,000-plus slot machine/video poker machines and 40 table games.

The 12 table poker room is back open and spreads $4/8 limit on up, and $1/3 no-limit Texas Hold’em and higher. There’s high-hand and bad-beat promotions here as well.

The Hollywood Casino Kansas City does not have a hotel attached to the resort, just a 74,000 seat NASCAR race track, which hosts two big NASCAR events each year.

Dining options at Hollywood KC include the Final Cut Steakhouse, Marquee Cafe, and the Turn 2 Sports Bar & Restaurant.

Bally’s Casino Kansas City

Currently the second smallest casino in the area, at just 38,000 square feet, the casino formerly known as the Isle of Capri Kansas City and briefly (Casino KC), has become Bally’s Kansas City.

It has the benefit of being by far the closest casino to the city, at just 2 ½ miles northwest of downtown, or just a 5 to 10 minute drive.

The old riverboat casino still looks like a riverboat – complete with a moat-like setting on water south of the river, however that is about to change, as Bally’s is undergoing a $61 million dollar transformation.

As part of the rebrand/remodel (which is expected to be completed in early 2022), there will be two new restaurants: a Sugar Factory, and a Chickie & Pete’s Crabhouse and Sports Bar. 

Bally’s KC is open during construction. Amenities include a Baccarat and Blackjack lounge, the usual table game favorites like roulette and craps, (with bonus betting options on blackjack games), along with over 900 slots and video poker games.

Dining options include the 1800 Noodle Bar, and the fast-casual Tradewinds Marketplace.

7th Street Casino

The only Indian casino among the six, it’s just a fairly small, slots-only building (no table games).

The 20,000 square foot casino is on the Kansas side, tucked between a cemetery and some Wyandotte County government buildings.

Five hundred and seventy-five slot machines dot the property. I haven’t personally been here, but they may be the bingo-style class II gaming machines found at Indian casinos, rather than traditional Vegas-style slot machines.

If you are a non-smoker, don't go here. It is very Smokey, even on a slow day. Very few table games. Only 1 craps table. Mostly slot machines. I do not recommend Isle of Capri.

Only went back here to claim the free "win back your business" gift they offered me. I did not spend any money. Took my free gift and left fast. Even though they changed names, it is still the nastiest, grungy, smelly place of old on the inside and outside. You don't dare touch the railings outside cause they are sticky/slimy with god-only knows what. You have to ride down an escalator to get into the casino and you can LITERALLY SEE the stagnant cloud of cigarette smoke you have to pass through just to get down to the casino floor. The ventilation sucks. When I left, my mask smelled of cigarette smoke so badly, I had to throw it away and I was only in there for about 20 minutes!! The outside parking lot is sketchy and the covered parking structure feels like it's going to fall down as you drive through-it vibrates so badly you can feel it in your car. This place is NOT handicapped friendly. There are no security or employees outside to help if you need it. My friend is in a wheelchair and the ramp to get into the place is unbelievably steep and the only elevator to get to the casino floor was off-limits/broken, so my friend had to wait upstairs and could not get in. Needless to say, despite the free gift, I will not go back.

I absolutely love how as long as a boat is in a body of water then gambling is legal. Awesome. The place is pretty cheesy. They have tons of slots, but slots are not really my thing. They only had one $5 minimum blackjack table, which seemed odd. The people of this town can't all possibly spend $25 a hand, but who knows? Considering the tables were near empty on Labor Day weekend, they probably should have lowered all their tables. On a negative note, booze is not free. The boyfriend ordered a shot of Dewar's on the rock. When the waitress brought it, first we were surprised that it cost $6. That detail was forgotten when my boyfriend scanned the tray for his drink. It was not there. He asked the waitress where it was and she pointed to a cup sitting next to the slot machine, which happened to look like the left overs of a someone else's drink. Then panic ensued. Could this be his drink? Apparently it was. He has since then recovered from his shock. I would have had a much better time if drinks were free and all the table limits were lower.

Ok, Isle of Capri really isn't that bad. No, it is most certainly not a Las Vegas casino. You have to know what you're walking into before you walk in here. It may very possibly be the friendliest casino I've ever been to. The staff here really are nice. It's also exceptionally clean compared to the other "more upscale" casinos in town. I pretty much just play slots so I won't say anything about the table games. There's a pretty decent selection of slots. They even have newer machines the other casinos don't have which is nice. They always have a variety of different giveaways and rewards programs which are similar to other casinos. The inside of the casino is definitely old but it's still maintained pretty decently. It's actually kind of interesting to be able to look down on the casino floor and watch people. Not sure about any of the food here, the buffet, or the other little bar upstairs. I probably will never try them either. I come here to use my free cash coupons and drop $20 for a little while. It's still a fun time.

Lone Wolf Lounge has a limited, but, friendly staff and often they have decent music with a nice dance floor. Rumor has it they will be closing for quite a while to remodel? The restrooms are always clean. Thank you! The Terrace Buffet on Saturday evening for the all you can eat crab legs is way overpriced! The crab legs are skinny and salty, like they've been sitting in salt water all day. BF's beer was hardly chilled. The best of the buffet was the BBQ ribs and unusual assortment of vegetables. The pecan pie was the highlight of the evening. Pleasant servers and wait staff. Maybe, we should try a brunch, because this is a convenient location for a lot of people who don't gamble.

Meh. This time was possibly the easiest it's ever been for me to leave a casino. It looks very nice, and they have some very modern slots. However, quarter slots are nearly impossible to find and super tight.

This casino has never been a "good" casino in town...food was never worth $ and barely worth a comp, the people on the floor were most of the time pleasant enough, and now they have done away with the valet service which was the only PLUS they had going for them.....so in the dead of winter they "decide" it's a good idea to make handicapped people walk further to get in the front door...it's just possibly the worst decision made by new ownership...best of luck to them!

As a gold rewards club member I am really disappointed with this casino. The clientele has gone down hill over the years I see people doing drugs in the restroom parking lots I've witnessed domestic violence and security doesn't really do much to make people feel safe. My wife and I spent a couple days here gambling and I stayed on one machine a wheel of fortune type of game betting the max and I would get 7 pointers on the wheel however the wheel always stopped on the same spot ensuring I'd get the lowest possible prize possible. We went to harrahs and I played the same game and actually won higher prizes each time I got the free wheel spin. So yeah I'd say the games are rigged. This casino was better when it was isle of Capri. I hold memberships at all the casinos in the kc metro and am an elite member at all of them. I also hold credit cards through some casinos and this one will not be getting any more of our business.

If I could give this ghetto ass place a zero I would! The only redeeming aspect is the bartenders! The security walks around gossiping in twos. This has NEVER happened to me before but tonight I had a $50 ticket and went to put it in a machine and dropped it and some brother picked it up and ran while two other ladies watching it! What the hell--this ghetto ass place will NEVER see my face again! Sorry Ryan, M Dang, Jaime and the bartenders I love...DO NOT GO!!!!!
