SEAGLASS 74 Cruiser - "The Ultimate Cruising Yacht."

The modern clean lines of the PC74 have been skillfully created from the drawing board of renowned designer, JC Espinosa of ESPINOSA INC. Known for his charm and flamboyant character, but more so for his flair for designing very elegant mega-yachts, JC Espinosa has produced a stunningly beautiful catamaran with free-flowing lines, a superstructure that is pleasing to the eye and draws your attention to study her complex “simplicity”. He has also created a luxurious, plush interior, which will set her apart. She certainly will appeal to the “Cruising Connoisseur”.

SEAGLASS 74 Features:

SEAGLASS 74 is a magnificent, luxurious cruising yacht that offers the comfort, privacy, amenities, and space one would typically only find on much larger motor yachts but without the associated purchase and running costs. She will appeal to a broad segment of yacht owners, either for private use or for charter. Key elements of SEAGLASS 74 are; Elegance, Stability, Efficiency, Performance, Luxury, Space, Privacy, Amenities, Safety, Manoeuvrability, Ease of Maintenance, and Eye-Catching Dock Appeal. It is fair to say that no other yacht of her size offers everything that we have successfully designed on SEAGLASS 74.

The well-esteemed charterer will appreciate the main deck, with all the primary living areas on a single level, including the massive aft deck with dining for 10 and lounging for 8, a bar, and ample storage lockers. The large saloon offers seating for 8, separate inside formal dining for 8, gourmet galley with island, and bar with 4 stools. Forward on the main deck is the glamorous full-beam master stateroom with walk around King bed, 180-degree views, a spacious en-suite bathroom, a sofa, a vanity, and ample storage.

The lower decks offer two large King VIP en-suite staterooms, ports, and starboard forward. The fourth guest en-suite stateroom, port aft; can be configured to accommodate couples or 3 children. All Inclusive

The charter rate shown includes the use of the charter yacht with professional crew and onboard equipment.

Also included are all meals and snacks onboard, all beverages from the yachts fully stocked bar along with tea, coffee and non-alcoholic drinks. All water sport activities provided by the yacht and fuel for both the yacht and tender.

Excluded in the rate are airport transfers, shore activities such as shopping, dining or special off yacht activities, port fees, park permits and fishing permits in certain locations. Any premium liquor, wines and champagne that not normally stocked and excessive alcohol consumption will be an additional charge.

Crew Gratuity is separate and is typically 15%-20% of the charter rate. This should be given to your captain at the end of your charter.

We knew we would see many beautiful locations, do some fun snorkeling and paddle boarding, and enjoy being pampered, but you three made this trip all that and more. From story time to the meals, to the drinks and beyond-everything was spectacular. My family and I sailed with a group of 7 other friends for a week on the catamaran, Sol Liv, captained by James along with Robyn who was also the chef. We had an amazing vacation. James and Robyn are great people. They know the BVIs well and took us to so many beautiful spots. Plus, Robyn is a very talented chef. Spectacular once-in-a-lifetime vacation with Voyage Charters and Captain Chris & Chef Jena. Voyage emerged as the clear leader after looking at several charter companies in the area, and were well worth the slight extra expense. Our 59' cat, Miles Away, was immaculate and comfortable, with far more than enough space for our three families. We had considered going without the captain and chef, and were so glad we didn't -- Chris showed us so much more of the islands than we would've been able to attempt ourselves, and made the entire thing effortless and 100% stress-free. His local knowledge (he grew up there) was a bonus. And Jena's meals were impeccable. She not only easily adapted to some special requests we had, but made a birthday breakfast for my daughter. Everything she cooked was tasty and creative, and she was both professional and fun to be around. We all miss them both & wish them the best!

Regarding our trip on 'Sol Liv' in May, 2022, we had a wonderful time with Capt. Tony Cook and his lovely wife Claudia. They took care of our every need and blended in immediately with our group of twelve. All of us were thrilled with the exceptional level of care. Captain Tony coached, bartended, entertained and dozens of other tasks with an eye on customer service. He clearly loves his wife. Claudia had delicious and creative meals and abundant midday treats for us. She made special dishes for dietary concerns. She is the quiet center in the swirl of activity around the boat. They are wonderful people and we were fortunate to spend time with them. Certainly one of our best trips to the islands!

Our vacation booked with Voyage Charters was truly an amazing experience. The vessel, Out of Office, was impeccably clean and well appointed. The bedrooms were cocoon-like ( I swear I haven't slept that well since before having children ), the linens were wonderful too. If you are booking a trip be sure to request Captain Blade and First Mate, Chef and DJ Jena! Given the circumstances there was no doubt that we were going to have a good time. However, with these two as our crew our experience was greatly enhanced. I appreciate their knowledge, professionalism and most off all their wit and candor. We just returned from an 11-guest 6-night BVI trip on the 65’ powercat “Out of Office” (Voyage Charters out of Soper's Hole in Tortola). Our captain was Blade Goodall and our chef was Nia Mora. We have done these trips before and Captain Blade and Chef Nia were by far the best we have ever had. Captain Blade was engaging, knowledgeable, funny, and flexible. We made a number of adjustments to our trip on the fly and he was very accommodating. All of the pre-planned excursion details (Mokes and dinner reservations on Anegada, scuba diving at Virgin Gorda, etc.) were perfect. The unscheduled impromptu activities (e-foils at Virgin Gorda, snorkeling, tubing, water skiing, fishing, bar hopping, etc.) were amazing and Captain Blade always took the time to ensure everyone was having fun. Chef Nia was creative, engaging, and highly talented. Every meal was fantastic and our group of 11 never went hungry! One of the highlights was Chef Nia preparing the 50-pound King Mackerel that Captain Blade helped us catch on the crossing from Anegada to Jost Van Dyke. With zero notice, Chef Nia cancelled her previously planned dinner and prepared an incredible fresh fish dinner complete with homemade teriyaki sauce, watermelon salsa, and perfect rice. This was a lot more work for her but she did it with a smile! Both Captain Blade and Chef Nia worked hard from sunrise to well after sunset each day ensuring that the trip was perfect for all 11 of our guests. We all had tears in our eyes when we said goodbye to them but will definitely request them on a future trip!

Great time with Tate and Justine. We just finished our charter with Tate (captain) and Justine (chef). If was a great vacation with Tate and Justine. They were extremely nice and helped us decide on what plans to make each day. Tate was extremely knowledgeable of the boat and the islands. He grew up in Jost Van Dyke and was able to give us good advice on what to do. My husband liked that Tate was always calm. Justine was a fantastic chef. She made sure our food met the information we provided ahead of time. Every meal was well thought out and delicious. Thank you both for a wonderful experience. The Voyage 520 boat was very nice. I would suggest maybe a couple more bean bags up front for people to lay when the boat is at sail.

WHICH CHARTER YACHT IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Sailing catamarans are the most popular choice. They are fun for sailing with a stable and flat platform for more comfort. They are ideal for those new to sailing/chartering, families with children and couples groups. The double hulls give an spacious amount of living space, they often have equal cabins with ensuite bathrooms and it is easy to walk around while sailing.

Monohull sailing yachts offer a better sailing experience, which is perfect for the traditional sailor. The yacht will heel while sailing which gives more thrill and is more exiting when you can feel the true power of the wind. Monohulls are perfect for honeymoons or  anniversaries as they often offer a more affordable price, and a larger master cabin.

BVI YACHT CHARTER FAQ'S

• Can I fly into the BVI for my charter? While flights in and out of St. Thomas remain the most popular pick, typically due to preferred routes, flight times, and pricing, our other suggested option is to take a commercial flight in and out of San Juan, Puerto Rico with a connecting flight to the BVI and back. We will assist with connecting flight recommendations or with private charter flight reservations either from Puerto Rico to the BVI and back or from St. Thomas to the BVI and back.
• What’s the best way to get to the BVI and back from St. Thomas? Many of our clients take private water taxis from St. Thomas to the BVI and back for their charters. While more expensive than a commercial ferry, this option offers a faster and far more seamless, luxury experience. Once your flights are confirmed, we’ll be happy to assist with water taxi reservations.
• If I fly into St. Thomas, can my charter start and end there? While the crewed fleet was able to offer St. Thomas ports and a BVI itinerary through July 2023, crewed charters that occur in the BVI after October 2023 will require a BVI pick-up and drop-off.

Monohull sailboats were the primary yacht type when the charter industry started in the 1970s in the Virgin Islands . There are still excellent crewed sailboat charters in the British Virgin Islands and the Caribbean. With two or more crew members, these yachts delight in sailing and experience the wind in your face and seawater spray. There is nothing like sailing windward on a monohull sailboat in a good breeze.

The winds can be pretty intense during the winter, making for excellent sailing in the Caribbean. Sailing in the  British Virgin Islands  and  US Virgin Islands  means shorter and more enjoyable cruises. The Leeward and Windward Islands offer more open sea sailing with longer distances between islands.

The Windwards are sailing south from Martinique to St. Lucia, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines and Grenada with its sister islands. The British Virgin Islands remain the most popular Caribbean yacht charter destination. However, during 2022 and maybe 2023, there will be fewer large crewed sailboats available due to the BVI regulations. Many crewed sailboats may not go through the licensing process. They are instead opting to sail to other Caribbean destinations.

Virgin Islands Entry Regulations

From covid to work permits and business licences.

With the health crisis is almost at an end , Covid regulations in the British Virgin Islands have changed. They have not disappeared, but transferred into a bureaucracy war of work permit and trade licences.

What that means is that your charter starting in USVI might not go to the BVI because the paperwork did not make it through. How can you be sure that your selected yacht has the necessary paperwork to go? That depends on your dates. Consult your preferences with us and we’ll be very direct about where your selected yacht is in terms of feasibility of a BVI charter. Note that the rules are subject to, often very unexpected, changes.

BVI charter guests on vacation are no longer required to register for entry clearance or show proof of travel insurance, regardless of their vaccination status. Also, there is no longer the need to present a COVID-19 test result upon arrival in the British Virgin Islands.

The main charter season in the BVI spans from December to March, with a peak around Christmas/New Year. Most BVI charters start in Tortola. Nevertheless, it’s possible to start a crewed charter in Saint Thomas in the US Virgin Island. Not all yachts are able to start the charter in the USVI. You’ll either want a yacht that is based in the USVI or we can arrange a St. Thomas pickup (with many yachts).

Types of charter

There are two primary ways to break down the BVI yacht charters: crew and power.

• By the primary type of power used to move the boat around: Sailboat Motor yacht
• The secondary sorting is by crew that is available on the chartered yacht. Crewed Yacht Captain Only

Crewed charter

The crewed charter usually includes at least a captain and a chef. The boat is provisioned according to guest wishes and preferences. Since all the work is handled by the crew (captain handles the boat and the chef handles the food, and often more (diving, watersports)), the guests can really have a relaxed, laid back time.

Captain only charter

Captain only charters are a good middle ground between the crewed charters and the bareboat charters. It’s very much like car rental. You do the paperwork and rent the boat. Local experience of the crew should not be underestimated. A captain will know secret spots and is able to quickly analyze your preferences and types of vacation you wish (or need).

Bareboat charter

Bareboat charter is the budget friendly option for qualified sailors. Originally intended for people who know the area, the price convenience caused that today, many of the bareboat captains would be better off with a captain only charter. If you haven’t been to the BVI before or you haven’t that much experience sailing the boat you wish to charter (rent), consider a captain only charter, you will thank us later:) At the moment, we don’t include bareboats in our search, please inquire directly and we can find a matching bareboat for you.

Let’s start with the relaxed and chilled atmosphere where liming was invented (drinking/eating and chilling for hours without a defined schedule). It’s the freedom that you can have when sail to bars like Willy T, the optimism and positive energy that you recuperate over the course of your vacation, that’s what makes the BVI special.

You can immediately tell the people who arrived yesterday. North Sound

If the BVI is the mecca of yachting, the North Sound should be it’s capital. Pristine bays, sandy beaches where you are often alone.

North Sound is located on the north of Virgin Gorda, the primary methods of transport there is by boat. It’s a rather secluded location, no doubt by design.

This Billionaire Playground has been started in the 50’s and 60’s by the Washburn family, picking up momentum throughout the 70’s and 80’s. Notably, Sir Richard Branson purchased his second island, Moskito Island, in a prominent location in the North Sound.

The activities – let’s start with sailing – North Sound being the ultimate sailing destination and hosting the annual Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta and Randevouz.

Apart from the main factor, you can see people windsurfing and kiting. Some of the most beautiful BVI diving locations are located here, namely the beautiful Mountain Point, Cow’s Mouth and Paul’s Grotto near Mountain Bay.

One of the main islands is very well known for yacht anchorages. On Jost Van Dyke will find amazing bars, restaurants with the pure Caribbean vibe. Once you come on your yacht charter to White Bay you will not want to leave ever. In the White Bay, the time stopped and you will have so much fun on your charter. Cold famous painkillers with delicious local food, you have to try this little nature secret in this paradise.

Norman Island is known as Treasure Island and was the inspiration for the pirate novel of Robert Louis Stevenson. G3 is a 2022 51ft catamaran with four queen cabins, each with a private ensuite bathroom with electric toilet, wash basin and separate shower stall. Spacious master stateroom has desk space, separate toilet and walk-in shower. All cabins have air conditioning, 110v outlets and dimmable recessed lighting.

The salon is really light with great headroom and contemporary furnishings. There is a comfortable seating area which is perfect for relaxing with a book or watching the big TV – the boat has a huge library of  movies. This area flows seamlessly through to the back deck which offers alfresco dining. Upstairs is the sky lounge which has sunbeds and sofas offering a fantastic 360-degree view.  There is also a front deck lounge area which has adjustable reclining seating and lots of area on the trampolines, and a fantastic sound system so you can have music everywhere.

Our personal opinion

Why book G3– SPACE – This boat has an enormous amount of space for a 51ft boat.  Every nook and cranny has been optimised with guests comfort in mind. There are great communal areas but also spaces where you can have a nap without being disturbed! Added to this is the fantastic crew who go above and beyond for their guests – charter of a lifetime, box ticked!

I do not generally write recommendations or reviews; people should perform the job they were hired for to the best of their ability. However, when people constantly go above and beyond expectations they should be commended. Angela and Casey are amongst the best I have ever experienced. They are a wonderful team, hosts, guides, companions, and crew. They exceeded all expectations, always having our safety, interest, and enjoyment at the forefront of their time and effort. The standard at which they work to enhance their guest’s experience are in many ways the difference between good and great. Their efforts started well before our charter, with outlining expectations and understanding our wants and preferences. During our charter it was evident that our safety and wellbeing, both on the boat and while touring the islands, was always their first priority. The hospitality, meals (absolutely fabulous) and the accommodating nature of Angela and Casey made time aboard a real pleasure. I could continue to list many more accolades which Angela and Casey have managed to work out all the details. For the devil is in the details and they have him by the tail! You could not ask for a better couple to manage your charters!

Thanks for everything Broads, Moora 🙂 (Sorry about the hand writing & spelling) This was a mindblowing trip that exceeded everything I thought it would be! I love the island, the boat, and the water, but the best part was getting to meet Casey & Angela. This was SUCH a special New Years and my favorite yet! I’m definitely not ready to go; I could stay here forever but I have a sweet little puppy to get home too ❤ Angela and Casey are so very talented, kind, and welcoming, and I loved getting to know them, and G. Happy birthday Casey and thanks for the fabulous food and being an AWESOME person to be around Angela. This is my favorite trip, and will continue to be!

The food and service were great. It felt like we had the boat to ourselves, as if there was someone else there. We are grateful for the care taken of us this week! Our bin Upoma, the sailing was fantastic, and we would definitely do this again. Thank you for such a wonderful week, filled with excellent excursions and even more exceptional food!!!

Dear Angela and Casey, All we can say is wow! We had an incredible time and cannot thank you enough for your hospitality and kindness. You both made a difference in this trip and will forever be grateful. We enjoyed every minute of this trip – from snorkeling to hanging out at the beautiful beaches to hanging out on the boat and enjoying the delicious yummy food. And oh my! the food was spectacular both of you how excellent cooking skills and oh my! on your presentation again “wow”! My goodness Angela ya know what to mix and balance all the flavors. Rendezvous diving

If your crewed charter yacht does not offer onboard diving then fear not, rendezvous diving can be arranged.

So what is Rendezvous diving?

A local dive company will pick you up direct from your charter yacht at a pre-determined location and take you for a one- or two-tank dive to experience the BVI below the water. This is an excellent option if only a couple of guests wish to dive or can work equally as well if all your group are interested. If your charter yacht offers minimal onboard diving, then rendezvous diving can also work if you wanted to add a few more dives during your charter.

Rendezvous diving is at additional cost, payable locally. The dive company provides all gear.

The Charter Yacht Society (CYS) is a non-profit organization founded in 1982 by independent owners of crewed yachts in the BVI. It is the only BVI government recognized body within the crewed charter industry. By crews for crews, the society represents the organized voice of individual yacht operators. The CYS advocates, educates and promotes.

The members of the Charter Yacht Society of the British Virgin Island provide private cruising vacations to guests from around the world. Its member crews are from a wide variety of backgrounds, both professionally and culturally.
