Gather family and friends on a relaxing wildlife-spotting tour down the Kiawah River.   This safari-style cruise begins at the boat landing at Kiawah River , an island village in the Charleston countryside on Johns Island.  This beautiful setting provides the perfect setting to begin the tour.

Resident dolphins are likely to make an appearance, too, as they slowly work their way through the estuary to hunt. With a dedicated naturalist on board, you’re sure to learn something you didn’t know and see something you may not have noticed- like a deer feeding along the edge of the river or marsh sparrows hidden in the grass.

ACTIVITY LEVEL This tour is a boat cruise and is suitable for most ages and abilities.

WEATHER Weather (thunderstorms or high winds) may impact this excursion. Cancellations usually occur due to lightning, thunder or high winds and we will make sure to reschedule your group if needed. Our general cancellation policies apply unless our experts determine it is potentially unsafe or unwise to venture out. In the event that  we  decide to cancel due to weather, we will make every effort to call you at least two hours before your departure and help you reschedule or credit/refund the full cost of your trip.

GRATUITY Gratuity is not included in your tour price. Our guides go above and beyond to make sure you have a fantastic time out on the water! Average gratuity ranges from 15%–25% of your tour cost based on your experience. It is not required, but always greatly appreciated!

A great combo of history and adventure as you see the countryside of Belize and learn about the ancient Mayan city of Lamanai. Get out and enjoy the country with a boat ride, a hike, and a delicious Belizean lunch.

You'll meet your guide outside of your Belize cruise ship terminal and board your van to travel 49 miles north, about an hour, to the district of Orange Walk. You'll learn about the various cultures that make up Belize today including the Mennonites who were welcomed into Belize due to their farming skills; Mestizos, born of the union of the indigenous Maya and the Spanish; and Creole, a culture resulting from the intermingling of white European masters with their African slaves. All live in harmony in Belize. Your guide will point out the communities and give you some of their histories as you head north toward Lamanai.

At the end of the road, you will reach the landing where you will board the boat to start your river journey. There will be facilities available for your use before getting on the boat. The Lamanai Mayan temple is located in the rainforest on the New River Lagoon. The river cruise of 25 miles allows you to see the various flora and fauna indigenous to the area. You can see birds like Belted Kingfishers, Great White Herons, Little Blue Herons, Brown Pelicans, Frigates, Cormorants, Ospreys, Plovers, Pipers, and Terns. The river is lined with wetlands and swamps where you can find a vast array of flora including flowering orchids, Ficus, the sacred Mayan ceiba tree, and the fast-growing Trumpet Tree. This river is home to crocodiles, Howler monkeys, and iguanas as well as a variety of other fauna. Your guide will tell you about the medicinal plants used for trade in the past and still used in medicines today.

When you reach the boat dock at the ruins, you'll be served a delicious local lunch of rice and beans cooked in coconut milk, chicken stew, fried plantains, and coleslaw. A vegetarian option is available upon request when you book. After your lunch, you will start the hike to the ruins themselves. As you traverse the rainforest you'll see more birds, monkeys, and a rich variety of plants. The Lamanai site is one of the oldest continuously occupied Maya communities in Belize, from about 1500 BC to 1680 AD. The site consists of 100 minor structures, a ball court, and 12 major buildings making it one of the largest. You'll see the ball court, where they played the Mayan game of "poc-ta-poc", the Mask Temple, which has two huge carved limestone masks flanking the main stairway;  the Temple of the Mayan Sun God; the Temple of the Jaguar Masks, named for the 2 jaguar faces at the base;  the High Temple, named for its height and the Royal Complex.

These well-preserved ruins are a must-see and you'll have about 1.5 hours at the site.  After your exploration of the highlights of the ruins, you'll be taken back to your Belize tender terminal.

Great power boat ride bit not great value for money….. – Booked the RIB powerbiat ride and paid £20 for a 30 minute experience. A choppy but fun experience in a powered rib – Due to the weather, our 90 minute ride in a powered rib was shortened to 30 minutes and I am glad. I would not shave coped with 90 minutes as the waves were choppy. The rib was bouncing and surfing the waves. We were screaming and got very wet. It was fabulous and thoroughly enjoyed it because it was only 30 minutes! Any longer, I would have hated it. Waverunners are brilliant, friendly and engaging so if we are in Newquay again, we will definitely ride with them again.

Powerboat tour – what a blast! – We went on the powerboat tour along the coastline and it was superb. The staff were very friendly, helpful and informative – we learnt about the local area, the mining history (brave men) and the local nature, as well as having a blast on the 600-horse powered rib. It was a bit choppy and the lads did their best to give use a smooth dry ride, but a lot of the fun was riding the big waves and getting wet.

Outstanding day on the water with Captain Shane. He took wonderful care of our group which was two families. We stopped at Lovango for lunch it was great and all spots for snorkeling were very nice. He was just an outstanding host, we will be back again because of Captain Shane.

Captain Jeremy and Jenny were a great crew! We had a great time traveling around snorkeling, swimming, and enjoying the tacos! The crew made the trip extremely fun (watched Jenny free dive 50 feet) and had the best day of our vacation. Would definitely recommend this day charter!

Took a day trip out of St John. We had Capt Morgan. Probably the best vacation day on St John! He took us around the island stopping at THE BEST spots to snorkel and see everything! Also took us (in time!) to the best lunch spot on the water. We highly recommend Capt Morgan

Had the best day with Captain Cody and Fist Mate Sarah! Picked up from Ritz Carlton beach and headed to Virgin Gorda. Did the Baths and it was so exciting! Lunch at Jost Van Dyke “Voodoo” and the on to Soggy Dollar. The whole family loved it all. Sarah and Cody were so friendly and full of stories and info. One of our best vacation days!

Edinburgh Marine Academy delivers adrenaline fuelled powerboat Sea Safaris from its base in South Queensferry, and are proud to operate the newest and safest powerboats in the Firth of Forth.

We have three Rigid Inflatable Boats, which are designed to travel fast and safely in the worst weather the North Sea can create.  The boats are fully equipped with the highest standards of navigation, communications, and safety equipment. All personal safety equipment required for guests is provided, including lifejackets, jackets, and waterproof trousers.

This is simply the best way to see the incredible sights, wildlife,  islands, and enthralling history situated on and around the Firth of Forth.

Trips take in the UNESCO listed Forth Rail Bridge, the brand new Queensferry Crossing, and the original Forth Road Bridge.  We can also see the Blackness Castle (where parts of Outlander were filmed), Incholm Island and its ancient 13th Century Abbey, Cramond Island, and Inchmickery which was built to look like a battleship.

The wildlife that lives on the Firth of Forth is hugely varied and includes Fulmars, Gannets, Puffins, and thousands of varieties of gull.  We often see dolphins, sometimes see Orcas, and always see seals! For photographers and wildlife enthusiasts then this is the way to see it all up close!
