BRISTOL YACHT CLUB
Racing at byc, whether you're a serious racer or beer can sailor, there's an event or class for everyone.
Bristol Yacht Club has one of the most diverse and active racing programs on Narragansett Bay! It is a great racing club for sailors of all levels and we welcome newcomers. The racing program offers week-day summer series racing Monday through Thursday. Included are Team, One-Design and PHRF races. BYC hosts numerous regattas, from the Sea Sprite Regatta to the Bristol Yacht Club Team Race Invitational to close out the season. In October, the Club starts the Frostbite Series which goes through the winter months.

One Design Racing Bristol Yacht Club has a number of One Design Fleets and Race Series, racing on Monday Wednesday and Thursday nights. Wednesday night "beer can" racing includes J/22s and Sea Sprites, combined with PHRF racing. The Thursday Night Keel Boat One Design Racing season starts in June with the J/22 fleet and other one-design keel boat classes.
PHRF Racing
The Bristol Yacht Club Millard Series is the Bristol Harbor summer PHRF series on Wednesday evenings. There are six separate classes for spinnaker and non-spinnaker competitors with more than 40 boats participating, and a dedicated, consistent Race Committee.
Bristol Yacht Club members also participate in events around Narraganset Bay and beyond. These other events are always a fun way to do some weekend racing competing with other clubs. To learn more about PHRF Racing with Bristol Yacht Club, contact Mark Rotsky .
Team Racing Team racing at BYC is rapidly strengthening! Using the fleet of J/22s the Club hosts a Monday Night Team Race Series in the summer and an Invitational 3v3 event in the fall. The Monday Night Team Race Series is 3v3 and is a great way to hone your skills against some of the best team racers in the area. To learn more about Team Racing, contact Amanda Callahan
Foil Racing Bristol Yacht Club’s Foil Racing Series, is open to all Foiling Boards and Foiling WindSurfers. This series will run on 5 Saturdays: June 3, July 1, August 5, August 12 and August 19. Frostbite Series
Our Frostbite Series sails every Saturday afternoon, late October through early April, and consists of two fleets: Lasers and Aeros. Races are held right off the BYC pier using the uniquely designed RC float. Need a boat? We can hook you up with one. Have an old Laser hanging around? Come on out with us. The weather may be cold, but the action is hot and the fellowship tops. To learn more about Frostbiting, contact Dave Guinther

Charlie Enright, the winning Ocean Race skipper who got his start sailing in the waters of Bristol Harbor out of the East Bay Sailing Foundation and the Bristol Yacht Club, returned to his old stomping grounds on Dec. 3 to deliver a multimedia presentation of his 11th Hour Racing team’s challenges and ultimate victory in the last Ocean Race, which concluded this past summer in Genoa, Italy. At the end of the presentation, which included remarks from friends and fellow sailors Chris Brito and Peter Levesque as well as father Tom Enright, Commodore Paul Redman unveiled BYC’s new perpetual trophy, the Enright Outstanding Achievement in Offshore Sailing Award, with Charlie’s name engraved on the trophy as its first recipient. The trophy will hang in the Chart Room. “It’s a real honor to have something that bears your name hanging in a storied place like the Bristol Yacht Club,” said Enright, reached after the event. “Hopefully it inspires future participation in offshore sailing, particularly for the next generation of young local sailors.”
