Nestled along the serene shores of Humber Bay, the Etobicoke Yacht Club (EYC) stands as a testament to a thriving maritime community that has been fostering the love of sailing for decades. Established with a vision to bring the joy of sailing to people of all ages, the EYC has become a beacon of maritime excitement in the heart of Toronto.
Founded in 1968, the EYC has been a hub for sailing enthusiasts, beginners, and seasoned sailors alike. With a mission to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for all, the club has created a close-knit community that shares a deep passion for the open waters. The picturesque location of the club, situated near the tranquil waters of Lake Ontario, offers an ideal setting for sailing adventures.
The EYC takes pride in its Junior Sail Program (JSP), a not-for-profit initiative that was launched in 2000. This program has played a pivotal role in introducing young minds to the art of sailing, nurturing a love for the sea, and teaching essential skills to navigate the waters. The JSP provides a comprehensive curriculum led by nationally certified instructors who are not only skilled sailors but also dedicated mentors.
Beyond its youth programs, the EYC hosts a myriad of sailing events and regattas that draw enthusiasts from near and far. From club races to championship competitions, the club’s calendar is brimming with opportunities for sailors of all levels to hone their skills, connect with fellow sailors, and experience the thrill of competitive sailing.
The EYC also serves as a social hub for members to connect, share stories, and build lasting friendships. The club’s vibrant social events, from awards nights to fundraisers, create an atmosphere of camaraderie that extends beyond the waters.
As a cornerstone of Toronto’s sailing community , the Etobicoke Yacht Club continues to inspire generations of sailors to embrace the open sea, learn the ropes of sailing, and explore the endless horizons of maritime adventure. With its rich history, welcoming spirit, and commitment to fostering a love for sailing, the EYC remains a treasured institution on the waterfront.

EYC has a great little tiki bar and a large outdoor area with picnic tables and grills. They also have a fire pit and a playground. Unlike the rest of Toronto, the patio here is dog friendly. EYC doesn't have a restaurant, but you can walk over to MCC to eat. If you want to BYOB, there is plenty of seating outside of the licensed area. The inside doesn't have any services, so this is not the spot to be on a rainy night or if it's super hot outside. Like all yacht clubs, I was the only one there on a Saturday evening between the ages of 12 and 55 besides the staff. Regardless, it was a friendly scene. Word on the street is they have bands and a much livelier crowd on Fridays.
