The sailing here is some of the best in the world, and would love to share it with you! We offer sightseeing harbor tours aboard our high performance Tartan 4000 Sloop Argon. We’re proud that we’ve turned several first-time sailors into life-long sailing enthusiasts after sailing with us.

Any Sailing Experience Level

Whether you’ve never been on the water before or are an experienced sailor, we’re sure you will have a memorable time. Our captained charters are private for your group only – the whole ship is yours! We encourage our passengers to become part of the crew by participating in the sailing and we are happy to share our experience and teach new sailors some basics along the way. Trim sails, or take the helm or just relax as we enjoy the bay among the racing sloops with Newport Bridge as the backdrop.

Day (or Longer) Sails

If you’re looking to add a quick trip on the water to your visit, we can do 3 to 5 hour day charters. Want something more adventurous? Want to experience a taste of the cruising lifestyle? We can do overnight excursions stopping in one of many beautiful anchorages around the bay. Want a little more adventure? How about a longer overnight trip to Block Island or Cuttyhunk Island. These two destinations offer the possibility of a one-way cruise where you do the return trip the easy way on a Ferry!

We are a couple of sailing geeks who love introducing others to this amazing experience. We tailor the sailing to your comfort and experience, and teach you as much as you want to learn along the way. If you prefer to just sit back, relax and take in the sights, that’s fine too. Boston from the Harbor My parents came to visit and were delighted to experience Boston from the Harbor side. We had a three hour trip and got all the way around Spectacle Island. Bob and Linda were lovely and very knowledgeable. We all got to steer and help orient the main sail. My parents are definitely coming back to sail again and some of my friends were interested in a expedition as well.

Sunset Cruise Took some friends on the sunset cruise and had a blast! Linda and Bob are the nicest folks you’ll ever meet. Some of us wanted to help sail and others just wanted to sit back and enjoy the ride. We went around Boston harbor and they showed us different points of interest, it was so beautiful and peaceful out on the water. They told us about their beautiful boat and its easy to see how passionate they are about sailing and welcomed all of our questions (we were a curious bunch). I found it absolutely thrilling and exhilarating. It’s the first time I completed a “bucket list” item before I knew it should be on the bucket list

Wedding Anniversary Sail My husband and I had the best time celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary sailing with Bob and Linda! Thank you both for our making our day so special! It was an amazing experience! We can’t wait to do it again next year!

  CATERING

Charter payments.

For your private boat charter a 50% deposit is required upon signing our contract. Final payment is due 10 business days prior to the event.

Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy: For your private boat charter the total charter amount returned if cancelled more than 15 days in advance. Owner will refund 75% of the total charter amount if cancelled 14 days in advance of the charter date (half the deposit is returned). Owner will refund 50% of the total charter amount if cancelled between14 and 5 days in advance of the charter date (deposit is forfeited). Cancellations due to weather are made only by the captain. This decision can be made up until one hour before departure. A full refund or the option to reschedule without penalty is available if the Captain cancels due to weather. If the Charterer wishes to reschedule for any reason with at least a 5 days notice, a 25% rescheduling fee will be applied. If the Charterer wishes to reschedule due to weather predictions or for any reason without the Captain’s accord within 5 days of the event, a 50% rescheduling fee is applied.

We are located off of America’s Cup Avenue in front of the “Landing Restaurant” at 23 Bowens Wharf in Newport Rhode Island 02840.

Parking Information

Metered parking is limited, and traffic can get very congested in the area, plan at least 30 minutes for parking. There are also several pay lots available, and the Gateway Parking Lot, which is a 10-15 minute walk from the boat.

If you are looking for a beautiful and historic place to sail, Newport RI is a great option. With its stunning natural beauty, rich history, and excellent sailing conditions, it’s no wonder that Newport is a popular destination for sailors of all levels. The city is home to a variety of sailing events throughout the year, and the people of Newport are friendly and welcoming. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy the sport of sailing, Newport RI is a great option.

The catboat is a slow-moving boat, so you will have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the scenery. You can also bring a picnic lunch to enjoy while you are sailing.

Here are some tips for planning your sailing trip:

• Bring sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
• Dress in comfortable clothing that you can move around in.

Sightsailer

Sightsailer | 46′ sloop.

If you’re looking for spirited, lively sail and like the idea of a smaller number of guests, come sailing on Sightsailer!  Sightsailer sails with a maximum of 13 guests and offers a fast, fun, and comfortable sailing experience.   She is a great boat for a Newport harbor cruise and sail in Narragansett Bay!  Guests may take the helm and sail or sit back and relax!

Sightsailer is 46 feet, light, with a large sail plan and cushioned cockpit. Compared to Aquidneck, Sightsailer is lower to the water, which means you get more of adventurous, race-boat sailing experience.  When it’s windy, Sightsailer will heel (lean) over more than Aquidneck which many find quite exciting!

Sightsailer has a fully cushioned cockpit complete with back and footrests and two swiveling stern seats to take in the action.  When the wind is light to moderate in strength, guests may also sit up on deck.

Guests who will enjoy their sail the most are those who are able-bodied and able to get up and move around, especially on breezy days.  Non-sailors should not be alarmed: the sail is always very smooth.   If Aquidneck is a Cadillac, Sightsailer is a two-seat convertible sports car.  Both are fun, yet in different ways.

Sail through Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay past all the famous sights. Our captains and crew know the history of the harbor and bay and will point out the highlights.  No sailing experience is required.  Sails are 1.5 hours.  Join us for a morning, afternoon, or sunset sail!

Offering both public sails and private sailing charters, Sightsailer is our most popular boat for private bachelorette parties, charters with larger groups of friends, families, and small corporate outings.

For private charters, Sightsailer has a small, narrow cockpit table for light food, an Igloo cooler for drinks, and a stereo with an iPod interface.  Blankets are available for cooler weather as well as rain jackets in the event of a passing shower.  For private charters, visit our FAQ page for food and drink suggestions.

SPECIAL NOTE: Larger parties on public sails can overwhelm the rest of the guests onboard. If your group exceeds 6 people, you must reserve a private charter. Please fill out a Private Charter Inquiry Form to book a private charter. Please do not try to circumvent this policy.  If you do, we reserve the right to cancel and refund your sail or transfer your group to Aquidneck.

Newport Charter Yacht Show To Be Held June 23-26, 2024 at Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard

The Newport Charter Yacht Show, held annually in picturesque downtown Newport, R.I., will be held June 23-26, 2024 at Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard. For charter yachts who plan to spend the summer in New England, the Newport Charter Show is the perfect way to kick-off their season in the northeast. Over 100 charter brokers attend the show, which will feature sailing and motor vessels ranging in size from 50 to 200+ feet. The show is open exclusively to charter yacht brokers, agents, and industry professionals. Registration is now open online: www.newportchartershow.com
