Nilaya Superyacht

“ Nilaya will be the world’s lightest aluminum sailing superyacht for her length: She rewrites the script for high-performance superyachts,” Royal Huisman CEO Jan Timmerman said in a statement .

Nilaya ’s interior and exterior were executed by Nauta Design, while her naval architecture comes courtesy of Reichel-Pugh Yacht Design. This duo actually designed the owner’s maxi-racer of the same name. It’s not surprising, then, that the new sloop echoes her predecessor with a racy, low profile, a straight bow, a wide transom and twin rudders.

Royal Huisman conducted a careful weight analysis inside and out to ensure each part of Nilaya was crafted from the right lightweight material. The yard also utilized the carbon-fiber expertise of sister company Rondal. The curvaceous coachroof and guest cockpit, for instance, were made from carbon composite. Nilaya ’s mast, boom and standing rigging are also carbon to keep the yacht’s weight as low and as centered as possible for optimal balance.

Onboard, the 154-footer can sleep between eight and 10 seafarers, along with eight crew. The interiors combine “a modern look with classic elegance” and are said to be light yet warm and welcoming.

Nilaya will reportedly be delivered to her owners in the coming months.

This is Why Nilaya is the Most Beautiful Sailing Superyacht of 2023

nilaya yacht proprietario

The outstanding performance of the 47m Nauta Design and Reichel/Pugh design, skillfully crafted by Royal Huisman , was evident during sea trials in May . Since then, the owner has taken possession of the yacht and begun relishing its remarkable combination of interior comfort and sailing prowess.

Nilaya embarked on a journey to Antigua in late November, completing a ten-day Atlantic crossing that perfectly met the owner’s expectations for speed, durability, reliability, and tranquility. The satisfaction of both the professional race team leader, Bouwe Bekking , and the full-time skipper, Romke Loopik, added to the overall contentment.

Distinguished by its sleek, contemporary lines and cleverly concealed deckhouse, Nilaya captivates the hearts of genuine yachting enthusiasts. Meticulously proportioned, with a modern plumb bow and a straight sheer gracefully tapering to a spacious, open transom, the yacht is instantly recognizable. Enhanced by an exquisite custom carbon sloop rig, Nilaya boasts a Panamax air draft, offering the potential to unfurl an extraordinary spread of sail. Effortlessly reaching speeds of 17 knots on a broad reach with just 18 knots of wind, she embodies a harmonious blend of style and performance.

Nilaya

“ Nilaya’s racy, low profile, straight bow and  wide aft sections echo the look of her owner’s previous yacht while communicating even greater speed and performance, ” says Mario Pedol, co-founder of Nauta Design. “ She will be the world’s lightest aluminium sailing superyacht by length, rewriting the story ofhigh-performance superyachts. ”

The genesis of this remarkable sailing vessel traces back to the owner’s previous 34m yacht, also named Nilaya – a term signifying ‘blissful home’ in Sanskrit. When the decision was made to upgrade to a larger yacht, the owner was resolute about preserving the deckhouse aesthetics and adventurous spirit. To achieve this vision, he enlisted the same key collaborators for the new project: Nauta Design for the overall concept, exterior, and interior design, Reichel-Pugh for naval architecture, and MCM’s Nigel Ingram as the owner’s representative. The owner challenged them with a demanding task: enhance on-board comfort for a better quality of life with reduced noise levels, all while maintaining speed.

Baltic 130 My Song

Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design spearheaded a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) study, collaborating with America’s Cup CFD specialists Caponnetto Hueber and Giorgio Provinciali for Velocity Prediction Program (VPP) performance analysis. This exhaustive hull design study aimed to improve sea-keeping and motion, both under power and sail, across various speeds, heel angles, and wave conditions, while also enhancing real and ORCsy rated performance. Twelve models were tested before settling on the final hull shape. VPP results indicated that, in 10 knots of breeze, Nilaya would achieve nearly 13 knots sailing upwind with mainsail and jib, and nearly 18 knots while reaching at a 90° wind angle in a 15-knot breeze.

Although lightweight carbon-fiber construction was initially considered, the design team ultimately favored aluminum due to its compelling advantages. The 47m size of the boat pushed the upper limits of practical molding for carbon-fiber, while aluminum offered unparalleled robustness and quietness—qualities highly valued for a bluewater voyager.

“ I started thinking that an aluminium hull weighs 60-70% more than a carbon boat, but the weight of the hull and deck is only about 15% of the total weight of a sailing yacht,”  says Mario Pedol.  “Our early intuition was that an aluminium construction sailing yacht could be much lighter than the existing aluminium fleet. Royal Huisman supported this vision with enthusiasm and accepted the challenging target of building a light displacement yacht.”

This insightful approach found a powerful ally in Royal Huisman, a global leader in the construction of lightweight aluminum sailing yachts. Leveraging their position, the Dutch shipyard applied the innovative Featherlight methodology, inspired by spacecraft technology. Collaborating with Nauta and Reichel-Pugh, they successfully implemented measures that led to significant weight reductions. Techniques such as adjusting the thickness of Alustar plates, optimizing frame spacing, incorporating lightweight foam-cored paneling, and employing advanced carbon fiber composites for the deckhouse and guest cockpit all contributed to lowering Nilaya’s overall displacement.

Nilaya

The Featherlight™ methodology employed by Royal Huisman utilized Finite Element Analysis (FEA), a design approach rooted in spacecraft technology. FEA modeling involves intricate mathematical geometric computations that predict how a component or an entire product will respond under stress, including various load forces.

“ The final outcome represents a new concept in aluminium construction,”  explains Pedol. “ Nilaya has a displacement  which is 15% more than an equivalent full-carbon boat. That’s a lot less than any other comparable aluminium yacht on the water. ”

Nauta has drawn on all its long experience to make Nilaya’s exterior profile as beautiful as it is pragmatic. The coachroof blends gracefully with the sheerline, while the wide stern flies above the water, showing off the hull’s double chines. Much thought went into optimising proportions to favour a coaming to protect the guest cockpit and a bulwark to protect the aft cockpit, manoeuvring area, and side passageways. “ A wooden plinth between sections in composite and the teak deck makes them visually lighter, and also conceals the string lights that illuminate the deck at night ,” says Massimo Gino , co founder of Nauta. “ Teak inserts on the bulwarks, coamings and coachroof further enrich the deck. ”

Nilaya

Abundant exterior social spaces grace this yacht, meticulously designed with an observant attention to detail. Consider the main guest cockpit nestled under the shelter of the carbon hardtop, where sun loungers aft seamlessly transform into adjustable chaise longues, perfectly aligning with the yacht’s heel. The space also boasts a generous full-sized dining table accommodating up to 14 guests, complemented by two additional low coffee tables, all thoughtfully shielded.

Shift your focus to the foredeck, where a recessed area accommodates the tender. When the tender is either launched or under tow, this space transforms into a cozy forward cockpit adorned with a table and fitted cushions. At the opposite end of the yacht, the expansive 10m-wide transom features a beach club equipped with sun loungers and sofas. A hydraulically operated hinged section of the aft deck unfolds to reveal a staircase leading down to the beach club. This section can be raised to access the crew tender housed in its aft garage.

Nilaya

Nauta’s vision reached into the aesthetics and functionality of the sailing hardware as well – nothing was ‘off the shelf’. “ Our customisation of deck hardware included the styling of the 21m Rondal boom, the through-deck fittings for jib sheets, the bollards and other elements ,” says  Gino. “ Removable gate-shaped grabrails were fitted on deck sections from the transom to the guest cockpit for the safety of crew and guests: when the gates are fitted, there are never more than two steps without a grabrail – a useful feature aboard a large yacht where walking distances, when heeled, are a consideration. ”

The interior stands as a source of immense pride, delivering the desired exceptional lifestyle for the owner and an optimally efficient service workflow for the crew. The owner’s decorator, May Vervoordt, curated the materials used in the interior styling.

The focal point of the interior is the splendid raised-deckhouse saloon, adorned with a contemporary mix of contrasting woods, light upholstery, and touches of muted blue and terracotta for sofas and cushions. The spacious dining area to port and comfortable lounging space to starboard offer guests panoramic 360-degree views, with a generous skylight connecting them to the wind and sails above. A designated work area in one corner, along with concealed amenities such as a wine cooler, coffee machine, fridge, and ice machine, provide functionality that seamlessly disappears when not in use, including a concealed pantry.

Descending forward and to starboard, the owner’s private domain unfolds. Beginning with a more secluded lounge or TV room, followed by a dressing room, and culminating in the owner’s cabin spanning the entire width of the boat forward. The expansive cabin accommodates a king-sized double bed, an L-shaped sofa, an office area, and a separate bathroom. Addressing the design challenge posed by the cabin’s location beneath the tender bay, Gino notes, “The ceiling balances the tender bay’s central dip with two higher domes at the side passages, giving an excellent sense of the impressive width of the cabin.”

Nilaya

Further forward is a VIP cabin accessible via stairs on the port side of the keel trunk. Two additional guest cabins, each with a Pullman berth, are accessed via an aft stairway and can be configured as twins or doubles through clever sliding joinery. The aft guest lobby incorporates vertical wine coolers and a guest day head.

Occupying the boat’s aft section, the crew area features a dedicated companionway to the aft deck. This space is dominated by a galley to starboard and a mess to port, both generously illuminated by large hull windows promoting natural light and crew well-being. The central corridor leading aft houses dedicated desks for the navigator and engineer, with four ensuite crew cabins, each furnished with bunks.

Nilaya is just starting out in her long career as bluewater cruiser, but it is already clear that she is an exceptional yacht. Her owner pushed for the highest quality throughout the build and he is there in every facet of her design, from that curved Rondal spreaders  to the detailing of the interior. Her world-girdling programme is still under wraps, but hopes are high for an appearance at the St Barths Bucket in March 2024.

Construction Update: Royal Huisman ‘Nilaya’

  • By Yachting Staff
  • February 7, 2023

Royal Huisman in the Netherlands says the 154-foot Panamax sloop Nilaya has left the construction hall in Vollenhove and is ready to have its rig installed in Amsterdam.

Nilaya is the first yacht being built with Royal Huisman’s Featherlight design and production method, which the yard says reduces weight by 11 percent, compared to typical aluminum cruising yachts. The result is achieved through finite-element analysis in the design, the use of varied Alustar aluminum plate thicknesses, frame spacing to maximize hull stiffness and the use of foam coring in interior structural members.

The coachroof and guest cockpit structure are built with a carbon composite, as are the foredeck’s recessed tender well and several other elements. Most of the deck hardware is titanium.

Rondal is responsible for the carbon fiber mast, boom and standing rigging. Nilaya will be the first yacht in its size range to use the structured luff sail design that Doyle Sails created. To take advantage of narrow headsail sheeting angles that are possible, Rondal created a curved carbon fiber spreader design that Royal Huisman says is shorter and more aerodynamic than anything previously available.

Naval architecture and design are by Reichel/Pugh and Nauta. The project manager is Nigel Ingram of MCM Newport.

“While the new Nilaya is meant to take the owners world cruising, he also asked for a boat with all the good habits of their previous racer, meaning responsiveness and excellent handling,” Ingram stated in a press release. “Royal Huisman was not afraid to invest in research to explore and develop all manner of innovative weight-saving possibilities. They really chased the details.”

When is Nilaya expected to be delivered to the owners? Sometime before the end of 2023.

47m high-performance cruiser Nilaya delivered

Following successful sea trials on the north sea, nilaya has now departed from royal huisman’s facilities in amsterdam….

nilaya yacht proprietario

Royal Huisman Project 405 was transported earlier this year from the shipyard’s new-build facilities in preparation for launch and the installation of her carbon performance sloop rig by Rondal . She was christened Nilaya , which means ‘blissful home’, during a private event at Het Scheepvaartmuseum (the national maritime museum) in Amsterdam.

This highly anticipated Panamax superyacht is the first to utilise the shipyard’s new Featherlight™ design and production method. Continuous weight monitoring throughout the build of Project 405, aka Reichel/Pugh – Nauta 154, confirms the Dutch builder has achieved its goal of slicing 11 per cent off the weight of its typical advanced aluminium cruising yachts. Most importantly, it has reduced weight without sacrificing stiffness or cutting corners on quality for this high-performance cruiser.

The shipyard’s revolutionary Featherlight™ method for this sailing machine is not a single process or construction technique, but a holistic lightweight approach to yacht building combining various complementary weight-saving solutions utilising aluminum and carbon fibre components in order to deliver a cruising yacht that also will be competitive in superyacht racing events.

nilaya yacht proprietario

“For such a large yacht, the acceleration is exciting as she rapidly reaches high speeds,” says Nigel Ingram of MCM Newport, who served as owner’s project manager. “Twin rudders and the light, positive steering give superb manoeuverability and she has reached all her project targets with ease. Rondal’s sailing systems enable fingertip control of the massive loads involved.”

Nauta Design created the general concept, the exterior design and the interior design plan with the light, calm, contemporary décor that has been unpacked for the first time now that trials are complete. Ingram continues: “Below decks, life is as comfortable and quiet as one would expect of the latest performance cruiser from Royal Huisman. The builder’s efforts towards building a light and stiff structure have paid off.”

nilaya yacht proprietario

Nilaya is Nauta Design’s current sail division flagship, and after the sea trials Mario Pedol, co-founder of Nauta Design said: “This fantastic yacht showed to really match all of the quite demanding main aspects of the owner’s brief. Royal Huisman masterly succeeded in engineering and building the yacht, fulfilling the owner’s request in terms of robustness, reliability, quietness and, last but not least, amazing performance under sail, thanks to super high level naval architecture by Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design. Nilaya is not good … She is superb.”

Royal Huisman CEO Jan Timmerman calls Nilaya ’s departure bittersweet. “We are always a bit sad to see one of our yachts sail away; it’s a bit like a child leaving home. At the same time, we are proud to have delivered another unique vessel, especially one that advances innovative engineering and build technology. Nilaya is a milestone in composite superyachts in the truest sense of the word and another fine example of Royal Huisman’s ability to provide owners with the ultimate expression of personal freedom. We wish her owners and all on board fair winds and following seas during both world cruising and many exciting regattas.”

47m NILAYA Completes First Transatlantic Crossing

By Frances Flannagan

With her name translating to ‘blissful home’ in Sanskrit, Royal Huisman's 47m NILAYA is a stunning sailing yacht that bears bliss not only in her design, but in her exceptional performance capabilities. Recently completing her first transatlantic crossing, her impeccable craftsmanship is showcased as she boasts the title of being the world’s lightest aluminium sailing yacht by length.

NILAYA is a 47m Royal Huisman sailing yacht, featuring design by Nauta and Reichel/Pugh. Towards the end of 2023, this yacht completed her first transatlantic crossing, showcasing her exceptional interior comfort and impeccable performance capabilities. Sailing to Antigua, NILAYA successfully matched her owner’s expectations for speed, robustness, reliability and silence.

She features low, modern lines and a concealed deckhouse, with careful proportions and a broad, open transom. NILAYA is able to achieve 17 knots on a broad reach in 18 knots of wind, showing her to be capable of effortless pace under sale.

Mario Pedol, co-founder of Nauta Design, commented: ‘She will be the world’s lightest aluminium sailing superyacht by length, rewriting the story of high-performance superyachts.’

To achieve this light-weight sailing yacht, Royal Huisman applied its Featherlight methodology adapted from spacecraft technology to NILAYA’s design, coupled with a harmonious collaboration with Nauta and Reichel/Pugh to make significant weight savings. Notably, she was the first yacht built on the yard's featherlight specifications.

‘The final outcome represents a new concept in aluminium construction,’ explained Pedol. ‘Nilaya has a displacement which is 15% more than an equivalent full-carbon boat. That’s a lot less than any other comparable aluminium yacht on the water.’

NILAYA’s exterior profile is as beautiful as it is pragmatic: she features a coachroof that blends seamlessly with the sheerline whilst the hull’s double chines are shown off by the wide stern that flies above the water.

‘A wooden plinth between sections incomposite and the teak deck makes them visually lighter, and also conceals the string lights that illuminate the deck at night,’ commented Massimo Gino, co-founder of Nauta. ‘Teak inserts on the bulwarks, coamings and coachroof further enrich the deck.’

The owner desired an exceptional onboard lifestyle from NILAYA, which is met in the interior design. The interior is centred around the raised-deck house saloon: a magnificent social hub. Finished in a mix of contrasting woods, pale upholstery and inflections of muted blue and terracotta, her indoor areas are a statement of sophisticated bliss.

Guests are offered spectacular 360-degree views in the spacious dining to port and comfortable lounging to starboard, whilst a generous skylight keeps them in touch with the wind and the sails above.

NILAYA features the highest quality build possible, setting her out to be an exceptional and ground-breaking sailing yacht. Her programme remains under wraps; however, hopes are high for her to make an appearance at the St Barths Bucket in March 2024.

Nilaya sparkles at her sea trial

Mario Pedol, co-founder of Nauta Design, reports back from the sea trials on 31 May 2023: “A full day in beautiful sunny and windy weather in the North Sea off Amsterdam showed how Nilaya’s performance under sail is truly outstanding,” Pedol says. “By the time the mainsail was hoisted the breeze had built to a steady 18 knots. We sailed on a broad reach with the mainsail and Code Zero and rapidly reached a truly impressive 17 knots boat speed. It was just the beginning of a great day of sailing with the owner and all of the main players of his and the builder’s teams.

This fantastic yacht showed to really match all of the quite demanding main aspects of the owners’ brief. Royal Huisman masterly succeeded in engineering and building the yacht, fulfilling the owner’s request in terms of robustness, reliability, quietness and last but not least amazing performance under sail, thanks to super high level naval architecture by Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design.” Pedol also felt that his studio’s specific request for longitudinal stiffness, a very important performance booster aboard a sailing yacht, was fully met using thorough and deep final element structural analysis.

An investment in our DNA

While many aluminum vessels have some composite parts, Nilaya is much more a hybrid. The revolutionary element of the Featherlight™ method for this 47m / 154-foot sloop is not a single process or construction material, but a holistic light-weight method for delivering a global cruising yacht that also will be competitive in superyacht racing events. Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

nilaya yacht proprietario

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

nilaya yacht proprietario

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

nilaya yacht proprietario

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

nilaya yacht proprietario

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

nilaya yacht proprietario

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

nilaya yacht proprietario

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

nilaya yacht proprietario

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

34m Baltic sailing yacht Nilaya sold

The 34.14 metre Baltic sailing yacht Nilaya has been sold with Superyacht Partners representing the seller and Ocean Independence introducing the buyer.

Built in composite by Baltic and delivered in 2010 with a refit in 2017, she was penned by Nauta Design , who also designed the interior. Since she was delivered she has proven to be one of the most successful high-performance superyachts launched by Baltic Yachts to date, with numerous regatta wins to her name.

The accommodation comprises four spacious guest cabins including a large and luxurious owner’s suite, three crew cabins and a huge galley. She displaces just 89 tons and features a lifting keel that reduces her draft from 5.5 metres to just 3.5 metres. A key feature is a sleek, low-level deckhouse providing an immense amount of natural light below and a panoramic view from within.

When she was launched she heralded a new breed of genuine multi-role superyachts that combine racing performance with superb comfort and exceptional, high-speed cruising capability.

Under power, a 418hp Cummins diesel engine allows a comfortable cruising speed of 12 knots.

Nilaya was asking €9,250,000 with VAT paid.

The Comprehensive Guide to Moscow Nightlife

nilaya yacht proprietario

Moscow’s nightlife scene is thriving, and arguably one of the best the world has to offer – top-notch Russian women, coupled with a never-ending list of venues, Moscow has a little bit of something for everyone’s taste. Moscow nightlife is not for the faint of heart – and if you’re coming, you better be ready to go Friday and Saturday night into the early morning.

This comprehensive guide to Moscow nightlife will run you through the nuts and bolts of all you need to know about Moscow’s nightclubs and give you a solid blueprint to operate with during your time in Moscow.

What you need to know before hitting Moscow nightclubs

Prices in moscow nightlife.

Before you head out and start gaming all the sexy Moscow girls , we have to talk money first. Bring plenty because in Moscow you can never bring a big enough bankroll. Remember, you’re the man so making a fuzz of not paying a drink here or there will not go down well.

Luckily most Moscow clubs don’t do cover fees. Some electro clubs will charge 15-20$, depending on their lineup. There’s the odd club with a minimum spend of 20-30$, which you’ll drop on drinks easily. By and large, you can scope out the venues for free, which is a big plus.

Bottle service is a great deal in Moscow. At top-tier clubs, it starts at 1,000$. That’ll go a long way with premium vodka at 250$, especially if you have three or four guys chipping in. Not to mention that it’s a massive status boost for getting girls, especially at high-end clubs.

Without bottle service, you should estimate a budget of 100-150$ per night. That is if you drink a lot and hit the top clubs with the hottest girls. Scale down for less alcohol and more basic places.

Dress code & Face control

Door policy in Moscow is called “face control” and it’s always the guy behind the two gorillas that gives the green light if you’re in or out.

In Moscow nightlife there’s only one rule when it comes to dress codes:

You can never be underdressed.

People dress A LOT sharper than, say, in the US and that goes for both sexes. For high-end clubs, you definitely want to roll with a sharp blazer and a pocket square, not to mention dress shoes in tip-top condition. Those are the minimum requirements to level the playing field vis a vis with other sharply dressed guys that have a lot more money than you do. Unless you plan to hit explicit electro or underground clubs, which have their own dress code, you are always on the money with that style.

Getting in a Moscow club isn’t as hard as it seems: dress sharp, speak English at the door and look like you’re in the mood to spend all that money that you supposedly have (even if you don’t). That will open almost any door in Moscow’s nightlife for you.

Types of Moscow Nightclubs

In Moscow there are four types of clubs with the accompanying female clientele:

High-end clubs:

These are often crossovers between restaurants and clubs with lots of tables and very little space to dance. Heavy accent on bottle service most of the time but you can work the room from the bar as well. The hottest and most expensive girls in Moscow go there. Bring deep pockets and lots of self-confidence and you have a shot at swooping them.

Regular Mid-level clubs:

They probably resemble more what you’re used to in a nightclub: big dancefloors, stages and more space to roam around. Bottle service will make you stand out more but you can also do well without. You can find all types of girls but most will be in the 6-8 range. Your targets should always be the girls drinking and ideally in pairs. It’s impossible not to swoop if your game is at least half-decent.

Basic clubs/dive bars:

Usually spots with very cheap booze and lax face control. If you’re dressed too sharp and speak no Russian, you might attract the wrong type of attention so be vigilant. If you know the local scene you can swoop 6s and 7s almost at will. Usually students and girls from the suburbs.

Electro/underground clubs:

Home of the hipsters and creatives. Parties there don’t mean meeting girls and getting drunk but doing pills and spacing out to the music. Lots of attractive hipster girls if that is your niche. That is its own scene with a different dress code as well.

What time to go out in Moscow

Moscow nightlife starts late. Don’t show up at bars and preparty spots before 11pm because you’ll feel fairly alone. Peak time is between 1am and 3am. That is also the time of Moscow nightlife’s biggest nuisance: concerts by artists you won’t know and who only distract your girls from drinking and being gamed. From 4am to 6am the regular clubs are emptying out but plenty of people, women included, still hit up one of the many afterparty clubs. Those last till well past 10am.

As far as days go: Fridays and Saturdays are peak days. Thursday is an OK day, all other days are fairly weak and you have to know the right venues.

The Ultimate Moscow Nightclub List

Short disclaimer: I didn’t add basic and electro clubs since you’re coming for the girls, not for the music. This list will give you more options than you’ll be able to handle on a weekend.

Preparty – start here at 11PM

Classic restaurant club with lots of tables and a smallish bar and dancefloor. Come here between 11pm and 12am when the concert is over and they start with the actual party. Even early in the night tons of sexy women here, who lean slightly older (25 and up).

The second floor of the Ugolek restaurant is an extra bar with dim lights and house music tunes. Very small and cozy with a slight hipster vibe but generally draws plenty of attractive women too. A bit slower vibe than Valenok.

Very cool, spread-out venue that has a modern library theme. Not always full with people but when it is, it’s brimming with top-tier women. Slow vibe here and better for grabbing contacts and moving on.

nilaya yacht proprietario

High-end: err on the side of being too early rather than too late because of face control.

Secret Room

Probably the top venue at the moment in Moscow . Very small but wildly popular club, which is crammed with tables but always packed. They do parties on Thursdays and Sundays as well. This club has a hip-hop/high-end theme, meaning most girls are gold diggers, IG models, and tattooed hip hop chicks. Very unfavorable logistics because there is almost no room no move inside the club but the party vibe makes it worth it. Strict face control.

Close to Secret Room and with a much more favorable and spacious three-part layout. This place attracts very hot women but also lots of ball busters and fakes that will leave you blue-balled. Come early because after 4am it starts getting empty fast. Electronic music.

A slightly kitsch restaurant club that plays Russian pop and is full of gold diggers, semi-pros, and men from the Caucasus republics. Thursday is the strongest night but that dynamic might be changing since Secret Room opened its doors. You can swoop here but it will be a struggle.

nilaya yacht proprietario

Mid-level: your sweet spot in terms of ease and attractiveness of girls for an average budget.

Started going downwards in 2018 due to lax face control and this might get even worse with the World Cup. In terms of layout one of the best Moscow nightclubs because it’s very big and bottle service gives you a good edge here. Still attracts lots of cute girls with loose morals but plenty of provincial girls (and guys) as well. Swooping is fairly easy here.

I haven’t been at this place in over a year, ever since it started becoming ground zero for drunken teenagers. Similar clientele to Icon but less chic, younger and drunker. Decent mainstream music that attracts plenty of tourists. Girls are easy here as well.

Sort of a Coyote Ugly (the real one in Moscow sucks) with party music and lots of drunken people licking each others’ faces. Very entertaining with the right amount of alcohol and very easy to pull in there. Don’t think about staying sober in here, you’ll hate it.

Artel Bessonitsa/Shakti Terrace

Electronic music club that is sort of a high-end place with an underground clientele and located between the teenager clubs Icon and Gipsy. Very good music but a bit all over the place with their vibe and their branding. You can swoop almost any type of girl here from high-heeled beauty to coked-up hipsters, provided they’re not too sober.

nilaya yacht proprietario

Afterparty: if by 5AM  you haven’t pulled, it’s time to move here.

Best afterparty spot in terms of trying to get girls. Pretty much no one is sober in there and savage gorilla game goes a long way. Lots of very hot and slutty-looking girls but it can be hard to tell apart who is looking for dick and who is just on drugs but not interested. If by 9-10am you haven’t pulled, it is probably better to surrender.

The hipster alternative for afterparties, where even more drugs are in play. Plenty of attractive girls there but you have to know how to work this type of club. A nicer atmosphere and better music but if you’re desperate to pull, you’ll probably go to Miks.

Weekday jokers: if you’re on the hunt for some sexy Russian girls during the week, here are two tips to make your life easier.

Chesterfield

Ladies night on Wednesdays means this place gets pretty packed with smashed teenagers and 6s and 7s. Don’t pull out the three-piece suit in here because it’s a “simpler” crowd. Definitely your best shot on Wednesdays.

If you haven’t pulled at Chesterfield, you can throw a Hail Mary and hit up Garage’s Black Music Wednesdays. Fills up really late but there are some cute Black Music groupies in here. Very small club. Thursday through Saturday they do afterparties and you have an excellent shot and swooping girls that are probably high.

Shishas Sferum

This is pretty much your only shot on Mondays and Tuesdays because they offer free or almost free drinks for women. A fairly low-class club where you should watch your drinks. As always the case in Moscow, there will be cute girls here on any day of the week but it’s nowhere near as good as on the weekend.

nilaya yacht proprietario

In a nutshell, that is all you need to know about where to meet Moscow girls in nightlife. There are tons of options, and it all depends on what best fits your style, based on the type of girls that you’re looking for.

Restaurant-Yacht Chaika

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!

Thank you for your feedback and invite you to have lunch or dinner again aboard the ship in an atmosphere of high standards of yacht hospitality.

everything was perfect - the food, the service, the desserts were the best, nice atmosphere and the location - magical

Best food, best view in Moscow. absolutely faultless from arrival to finish. Best risotto i had for many years absolutely perfectly cooked. The view on Ukrainian hotel and the white house by night is amazing

Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Hello, Alexander Your comment is extremely important for us, thank you a lot for it. We are terribly sorry for your time that you`ve spent waiting your order and we have already taken actions to improve quality of our service and it would be realy... More

Food is very expensive, very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.

I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Customer service is a huge problem in Moscow but Chaika sets... a great example for others in the industry! Food is delicious and the menu has lots of options for everyone! Atmosphere is great and view is beautiful on the embankment. Special thanks to German & Oleg! More

Thank you for your feedback! Again aboard the yacht restaurant "Chaika" in accordance with the high standards of yacht hospitality.

Highly recommended, great location in the city center of Moscow with a superb atmosphere. Too many menu choices, though all delicious!

Thx a lot for your review! We are looking forward to see you in our restaurants.

Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More
