Un superyacht da 49 metri, di proprietà di un uomo d’affari svizzero, è rimasto incagliato dopo aver colpito gli scogli a soli 15 metri dalla baia di Kolona, sull’isola greca di Kythnos. Secondo le prime ricostruzioni, il Gps di cui era dotata l’imbarcazione, chiamata “007” in un chiaro omaggio a James Bond, è stato colpito da malfunzionamento la sera del 6 settembre e l’ha condotta verso la riva. I passeggeri hanno raccontato di aver dapprima sentito un forte urto e poi di aver visto la nave inclinarsi sempre di più. L’incidente è avvenuto intorno alle 23 del 6 settembre e da quel momento sono trascorse più di 24 ore prima che lo yatch finisse di muoversi adagiandosi orizzontalmente sulla superficie dell’acqua. La polizia locale è al lavoro per chiarire le cause dell'incidente. Al momento pare che il navigatore non abbia funzionato correttamente e che lo skipper abbia avvicinato la nave alla riva toccando gli scogli in un punto dove il fondale era basso.

Lo “007” è stato sviluppato nel 2006 dalla compagnia turca Aegean Yachts e poteva ospitare fino a 10 persone grazie alle cinque cabine interne di cui una master suite. Dotato di eliporto e alimentato da ben due motori Carterpillar, il suo scafo in acciaio e la sovrastruttura in alluminio non gli hanno però impedito di inabissarsi quasi per metà.

Footage captured the calamitous moment that a massive superyacht named “007” sank — with five passengers inside — in Greece
The maritime disaster occurred Friday night after the 160-foot vessel, which reportedly sails under a British flag but is owned by a Swiss businessman, experienced a GPS malfunction off Kythos Island, SWNS reported. This reportedly prompted the captain to bring it closer to shore than was advisable.
As a result, the James Bond-themed luxury boat hit the rocks, and began taking on water with five passengers inside.
“In trying not to be sunk, he sailed closer to shore, in less than 10 meters depth — and that’s how the ship got to that position,” explained a boat owner who witnessed the catastrophe.
Accompanying footage, uploaded to YouTube, shows the swanky vessel, which sports a helipad, lying half-sunken on its side around 50 feet from the nearby Kolona Beach.
Thankfully, all five passengers were rescued and transported to safety before the “007” sank. “No people were hurt,” described the aforementioned eyewitness. “The coastguard was immediately aware and sent help in the night.”
Rescuers also erected an anti-pollution perimeter in the area, although there was reportedly “no diesel leakage or damage to the scenery,” the bystander said.
Local authorities will launch a probe into the sinking of the “007,” which was delivered in 2006 by the Bodrum-based shipyard Aegean Yacht, but whose owner remains unknown.
Along with a helipad, the superyacht reportedly boasts five cabins, including a master suite, and can reportedly sleep ten people.
This isn’t the first time a luxury vessel has visited Davy Jones’ locker of late. Last month, heart-pounding footage emerged of a 130-foot superyacht capsizing and sinking stern-first into the water off the Italian coast.
In February, a Ukrainian man was arrested for partially sinking his Russian tycoon boss’s $7.7 million luxury super yacht in Spain in protest over the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine.

James Bond-Themed Superyacht Called '007' Sinks Within Yards of Greek Beach
"In trying not to be sunk, he sailed closer to shore," a boat owner who watched the event unfold said of the captain's actions
Five passengers aboard a superyacht named in honor of British superspy James Bond had to be rescued after it capsized and began sinking yards away from a Greek beach Friday.
The 160-foot superyacht named "007" experienced a GPS malfunction around 50 feet from the beaches of Kolona Bay on the Mediterranean island of Kythnos, SWNS reported.
"They say that the captain had some depth problem and he hit the bottom," a boat owner said about the vessel's captain, per SWNS
"In trying not to be sunk, he sailed closer to shore, in less than 10 meters depth — and that's how the ship got to that position." Thankfully, nobody was hurt in the incident, added SWNS.
"The coastguard was immediately aware and sent help in the night," the local continued, per SWNS.
"Next morning they put an antipollution perimeter," the boat owner continued. "It appears there was no diesel leakage or damage to the scenery."

According to SuperYacht Times , the "007" was developed by Aegean Yachts in 2006 and can accommodate up to 10 people. It also has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure.
In true James Bond style, however, the identity of the owner has not been revealed.
The sinking of the 007 follows the demise of a 131-foot superyacht named My Saga, which capsized nine miles off the coast of Catanzaro, Italy in August.
Shocking footage released by the Italian coast guard showed the vessel sinking stern-first near the Catanzaro Marina.
According to the BBC , "the Italian coast guard rescued all nine people on board – four passengers and five crew. The outlet reported the ship was heading from Gallipoli to Milazzo.
An investigation of the incident is ongoing and it is still unclear what caused the yacht to sink.

The 49-metre long vessel hit rocks off the Greek island of Kythnos and was seen lying on its side in the sea after the five passengers on board were rescued.
The James Bond-themed luxury yacht, which has a helipad, was seen lying semi-submerged about 15 metres from Kolona Beach, The Sun reports.

The boat hit rocks around 11pm on Friday and water then poured in as rescuers scrambled to get passenger on to another vessel and ashore.
The GPS reportedly malfunctioned and according to a local boat owner, the skipper then brought the vessel closer to shore.
“In trying not to be sunk, he sailed closer to shore, in less than ten metres depth, and that’s how the ship got to that position,” he said.
“No people were hurt. The coastguard was immediately aware and sent help in the night. Next morning they put up an anti-pollution perimeter.
“It appears there was no diesel leakage or damage to the scenery.”
The boat sails under a British flag but is owned by a Swiss businessman.
Anti-pollution barriers have been put in place in case of fuel leakage.
Local authorities will now conduct an investigation into the incident.
The 007 was delivered in 2006 by Bodrum-based shipyard Aegean Yacht but who owns it remains a mystery.
It has five cabins, including a master suite, and can sleep ten people.
The vessel was originally 32 metre long and called Royal Enterprise but underwent an extension.
It comes after the 39-metre superyacht My Saga sank off the coast of Italy after it was battered by a storm.
Nine people were rescued from the submerging vessel on Saturday as it sunk in the Gulf of Squillace, off the coast of Catanzaro.
Dramatic footage shows the superyacht on the water for a few moments before it completely sinks stern-first.
An investigation to determine what caused the vessel to sink has been launched.

Un superyacht di 49 metri di lunghezza a tema James Bond - chiamato «007» - di proprietà di un uomo d'affari svizzero, si è incagliato dopo aver colpito degli scogli a soli 15 metri dalla pittoresca baia di Kolona, sull'isola greca di Kythnos. A quanto pare, il GPS dell'imbarcazione avrebbe fatto cilecca e condotto la barca verso la riva. L’equipaggio e i cinque passeggeri hanno dapprima sentito un urto e subito dopo hanno visto lo yacht inclinarsi fino al fuori chiglia. L’incidente è avvenuto venerdì 2 settembre e il giorno successivo lo yacht era quasi completamente affondato. Secondo SuperYacht Times, lo «007» è stato sviluppato da Aegean Yachts nel 2006 e può ospitare fino a 10 persone. Ha uno scafo in acciaio e una sovrastruttura in alluminio.

You could say that 2022 has not been a good year for superyachts in general, and you wouldn’t be completely off the mark. In between seizures and legal complications, and what seems like an increased number of totaling incidents, superyacht-watching has definitely gotten more… dramatic this past year.
We can now add another incident to that ever-growing list: 007, a superyacht delivered by Aegean Yachts in 2006, has sunk after running aground off the coast of Greece. It happened on Friday night (September 2), with reports in the local media saying that the captain hit rocks under the surface of the water.
The ship is now almost completely submerged in Kolona Bay in Kythnos, in the Cyclades island chain in Greece, only some 15 meters (49.2 feet) from the beach. The Greek Coast Guard has confirmed the incident but, for the time being, it can’t speak on the circumstances surrounding it – and for very good reason, since an investigation into the cause is still underway.
The good news is that the five people onboard the vessel were rescued by the Coast Guard and transported to safety. The other piece of good news is that Coast Guard personnel was able to contain the superyacht with a floating sea wall, and there have been no reports of pollution as of the time of press. Given the location of the wreck, it is very likely that a recovery operation will be attempted.
The captain called in for help after running aground, as the ship started taking on water. Shortly afterwards, 007 listed on the port side, and eventually capsized. Photos and videos have emerged on social media showing the extent of the damage, and you will find some of them included in this article.
007 is a 49-meter (160-foot) superyacht that wasn’t available for charter, but was often described as the perfect family boat. Initially delivered as a 32-meter (105-footer) under the name Royal Enterprise, at the Bodrum shipyard in Turkey, it’s been through several refits, which have contributed to its current explorer-like, more aggressive silhouette. These refits included a lengthening of the hull to 49 meters (160 feet), adding another deck, and a small touch-and-go helipad on top.
With a design by Yavuz Mete, 007 offered accommodation for 10 guests and 5 crew. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines that developed a total of 1,300 hp, it could travel at a top speed of 12 knots (13.8 mph / 22.2 kph). None of that matters now, as it’s come to what could possibly be its end on the rocky shore of Greece.

Il Gps non funziona e lo skipper va a sbattere
La polizia greca è al lavoro per chiarire le cause dell'incidente. Secondo una prima ricostruzione, il gps non ha funzionato correttamente e lo skipper avrebbe avvicinato la nave alla riva toccando gli scogli in un punto dove il fondale era basso. La barca ha colpito le rocce intorno alle 23:00 e l'acqua si è poi riversata all'interno. "Sembra che non ci siano perdite di gasolio o danni all'ambiente " ha affermato la polizia greca che ha comunque predisposto barriere antinquinamento in caso di fuoriuscita di carburante.

Salvage operation underway for grounded 49m superyacht 007 in Greece
A salvage operation is underway to remove the 49-metre Aegean Yacht 007 from her current resting place in the waters of Kythnos, in the Cyclades island chain in Greece. The yacht was hoisted into an upright position in the early hours of March 21, and a post by the mayor of Kythnos, Mr Stamatios Garderis, said "it's a matter of hours to remove 007 ". The salvage operation began on March 6.
Prior to the removal, the semi-submerged superyacht had been in the same spot since she ran aground and listed in the late hours of September 2 2022. It is understood that the incident occurred when the yacht struck an underwater obstacle as a result of a failure in the navigation system and began to take on water. Allegedly, she was then deliberately grounded to avoid sinking in deep water.
The local Coast Guard confirmed she was resting on shallow rocks around 15 metres from the shoreline.
Authorities were quick to contain any potential pollution or debris within a floating sea wall but the extent of the damage to the local area is not yet known. At the time of the incident, five passengers were safely rescued from the yacht.
007 was delivered in 2006 by Bodrum-based shipyard Aegean Yacht as a 32 metre yacht. She has been extended twice since delivery, bringing her total LOA up to 49 metres.
The fate of the superyacht is still not known.

The 007 yacht is a well-proportioned motor yacht built by Aegean Yachts . This Turkey-based yacht firm specializes in building fully customized steel and aluminum yachts and refit services, purchasing, selling, and managing a substantial number of yachts.
The company was established in 1978 and has provided services to distinguished clients from all around the world.
007 yacht was formerly known as Amazon A, which was built in 2006 in Aegean’s Bodrum shipyard, then refitted and renamed Royal Enterprise.

007 yacht interior
007 offers a luxurious interior with spacious suites for guests and staff alike. Guests will surely feel relaxed in her cozy ambiance with her exquisite furniture that boasts elegance and opulent wooden flair.
The interior is decorated with wooden touches and adorned with beige and orange fabrics that match the vibe of the rooms.
She is decorated with understated elegance in accordance with her owner’s taste.
Her design offers a warm, comfortable and informal atmosphere for socializing onboard or relaxing outside on her expansive sun decks.
Both her naval architecture and exterior were completed by Yavuz Osman Mete, a yacht designer based in Turkey who has designed 12 yachts and created the maritime architecture for 14 other yachts.
007 has been refitted and now features a small copter landing area at the top and was also repainted in black with an orange lining on the edges.
Accommodation
Her interior layout offers the perfect environment for living onboard with family or friends as she can accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising one VIP cabin and four guest suites.
The design and accommodations of the 007 yacht were carefully planned to include privacy, safety, and entertainment in mind.
She can also accommodate up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience that will leave you feeling refreshed when it’s time to go back home.
007 exudes a perfect “home-away-from-home” vibe. The living area offers a casual and inviting atmosphere, with plenty of space for everyone to stretch out or dine together while being entertained by state-of-the-art entertainment systems.
Specifications
This grand yacht’s superstructure is built in aluminum with three teak decks. She is a monohull yacht with a displacement configuration.
Her original length was 32 meters, and her overall length is now 49 meters. She has a beam of 8 meters, a draught of 3.65 meters, and a gross tonnage of 400 GT.
She can comfortably cruise at 10 knots but can reach a maximum speed of 12 knots.
Her water tanks store around 12,000 liters of fresh water for everyone’s consumption, while her fuel tanks can store up to 13,000 liters.
She is propelled by twin screw propellers and makes use of twin reliable Caterpillar diesel engines with a total of 1300 horsepower or 969 kilowatts.
Owner
007 is currently registered under the United Kingdom flag, the 4th most popular flagship for superyachts, with a total of 832 yachts registered. Additionally, she is in the top 30% by LOA in the world.

La ricostruzione dell'incidente
Il tema «james bond».
Lo yacht era completamente a tema «007 James Bond» e sulla fiancata aveva immagini rimandanti al personaggio di Ian Flemming. La nave batteva bandiera britannica , ma i media inglesi indicano in un facoltoso uomo d’affari svizzero il proprietario. E c’è un dato che al tempo stesso rende l’incidente più amaro e più plausibile: la nave pare si trovasse a soli 45 metri dalla riva quando si è arenata e molto probabilmente ha avuto quell’impatto esattamente perché si trovava in acque poco profonde, con spuntoni di roccia affioranti.

This is the astonishing moment a spy-themed superyacht dubbed "007" sank off the coast of Greece.
The vessel was carrying five passengers when it ran aground near Kolona Bay on the island of Kythnos.
The coastguard rapidly responded to a mayday call and rescued the five people on board the boat.
Shocking images showed the superyacht keeling over after it hit some rocks under the waterline, the Daily Star reports.
The British-flagged vessel is believed to be owned by a Swiss businessman.
It was just 45 metres from the shore when it ran aground.
MailOnline reports that the boat had reportedly been led astray by its GPS, but soon began to lean heavily to one side as water flooded in through the damaged area.
The incident took place on Friday (September 2), and the boat had almost entirely sunk by the following day.
Adorned with the logo of Ian Flemming’s 007, the 10-person boat also had room for five crew.
The sinister-looking ship had an aluminium structure and a steel hull, although it wasn’t enough to prevent the catastrophic rock damage.

Fit for a Bond villain, it even had its own helipad.
Built in 2006 by Bodrum-based shipyard Aegean Yachts, it was hemmed in by the coastguard, which used a floating sea wall to trap it in place and stop it or any pollutants from floating off.
Officials are currently investigating.
According to the Superyacht times , it is the largest ship Aegean makes, and was sold in 2012.
With five cabins, the boat was able to cruise at 12 knots.
A local boat owner said: “They say that the captain had some depth problem and he hit the bottom.
“In trying not to be sunk, he sailed closer to shore, in less than 10 metres depth, and that's how the ship got to that position. No people were hurt.
“The coastguard was immediately aware and sent help in the night.
“Next morning they put an antipollution perimeter. It appears there was no diesel leakage or damage to the scenery.”
