Fully air conditioned interior comprising saloon, and galley, main deckhouse with navigation area, four guest cabins and master suite.

Entering the deckhouse, you are greeted with a dining table that can accommodate upto 12 guests on the starboard side and a cosy seating are to port with coffee table as centrepiece. The bar area in the port forward corner is equipped with dishwasher, ice maker and fridge.

The master suite is finished in mahogany, comprising, a king size double bed, desk, lounging daybed and settee. The bathroom features a bath, shower/steam room and his/hers sinks.

Connected to the master cabin is the private aft deckhouse which is furnished with secluded seating area and daybed, as well as private office and computer system with TV. This area opens out to its own sheltered cockpit with adjustable table.

The guest cabins are all finished in differing wood to give a unique colour and ambience to each area and furnished in coordinated upholstery. Ensuite bathrooms are adjoining.

The two aft cabins are customisable to be either double or twin and are finished in Anigre and Maple.

The forward two cabins are finished in Cherry and Pear and equipped with a double bed and a Pullman and furnished with a settee and fold out desk.

The main saloon is opposite the galley and features a homely fireplace, and seating area with central pouf accentuated by pullout footrests.

The galley and pantry is fully equipped with Miele equipment including gimballed oven and hob, steam oven, combi microwave grill/oven, plate warming drawers, espresso machine and cup warming drawer, two dishwashers and all other mobile equipment to ensure the highest standard of culinary service.

208' Schooner Athos

The giant schooner Athos, with an overall length of 203 feet and a length over deck of 184 feet, was launched in 2010 at Holland Jachtbouw to considerable acclaim. The design was subject to tank tests with various keels and rudders on a 1:10 scale - an actual 19-foot model was used - as well as extensive wind tunnel tests. Thanks to these preparations, Athos has a graceful aero and hydrodynamic shape, with a deep-V hull, shallow draught keel and integrated centreboard configuration. Computational Fluid Dynamics calculations determined the optimal keel shape details and centreboard position. The rig features furling booms, carbon spars, fibre rigging and captive winches on sheets and halyards, making her almost fully pushbutton-operated. Athos' eleven-metre beam allows for an enormous amount of interior volume, including a private owners' cockpit and deckhouse, four guest cabins, a main deckhouse with a formal dining and lounge area, and five crew cabins. Other interior highlights include a large walk-in fridge freezer, a separate control room including a captain's/engineer office directly connected to the engineer's cabin, a large laundry area, and direct access from the control room into the engine room. Some of the unique features of Athos are standing headroom in her engine room under the main salon and double main engines driving controllable pitch propellers. Integrated side platforms constitute ideal landing possibilities for dinghies, while large deck lockers provide storage for two 29-er sailboats, two Optimists, two motorbikes, scuba gear and a fly boat. Hoek Design was responsible for the interior design, exterior styling and all naval architecture, with Jos Scholten acting as owner's representative.

Huisfit Completes Refit of 203-Foot ‘Athos’

Huisfit has completed a major refit of the 203-foot Holland Jachtbouw Athos , which has been extended to 208 feet length overall during a conversion that changed the yacht inside and out.

Work on the 2010 build included a stern extension; redesigned cockpit layouts; a new forward navigation deckhouse; new booms, sails and carbon rigging; updated systems; and significant interior renovations.

Hoek Design was involved with all the naval architecture and some of the restyling. Peter Mikic Interiors handled the layout and some of the styling.

The new cockpit is wider and longer, and can accommodate 12 people for dining. The space also includes smaller relaxation areas, and tables that can be adjusted for cocktails or dining.

Another major change is to the owners’ stateroom, which was stripped out and rebuilt. It now has additional portholes, two bathrooms instead of one and a new walk-in closet.

In the guest spaces, changes included removing a fireplace and adding a media room. Crew areas were also updated, with a galley rebuild and new appliances in the crew quarters.

How many people worked on the refit of Athos ? Huisfit says as many as 50 people were regularly employed on the project for more than a year.

The 62m sailing superyacht Athos will be available to charter in Greenland this summer.

Built in 2010 by Holland Jachtbouw , the 62 metre charter yacht Athos is the world’s biggest privately owned two-masted schooner.

She has accommodation on board for 10 charter guests in three double and two twin staterooms. Athos is one of the most stunning and pioneering sailing yachts to be launched in the last few years and is the result of the combined efforts between award-winning designer Andre Hoek, the famous Dutch yacht builder and the owner himself who was highly committed and personally oversaw a number of the engineering innovations being used during her build. Athos will be available for charter in Greenland this summer and in the Caribbean this coming winter at €180,000 in high season and €160,000 in low season.

Sunrise Yachts, a luxury yacht building company which is based in Turkey, has been made a main sponsor of next year’s 2011 Moscow International Boat Show (MIBS). The four-day Russian yacht show event is currently scheduled to run from April 14-17 at the Moscow’s Crocus exhibition centre.

MIBS is organised by the ITE Group and it is one of Russia’s leading boat shows and is an internationally recognised superyacht event. The show covering everything from small parts and accessories to large superyacht with over 9,000 people and 178 exhibitors attended the last year show.

The Paolo Scanu-designed Sunrise 45 yacht is an ocean-going cruising yacht that was released in 2009 to much acclaim at this was the group’s first-ever model.

Sunrise Yachts was founded in 2007 by the German entrepreneur Herbert P Baum along with the French-British yacht builder Guillaume Roché. The luxury yacht group is based in Antalya, Turkey and utilises a 10,000sq m shipyard facility. Sunrise has two sheds measuring 100m (328ft) x 16m (53ft), as well as a 70m (230ft) x 16m (53ft) fully acclimatized paint shed that can accommodate new-build and refit projects up to 65m (213ft) in length and 1,200 tonnes displacement.

Along each side of the yacht-building facility, space is available for long-term sub-contractors with the latest equipment and logistics capabilities, along with air-conditioned storage, ventilation and extraction plants. The shipyard is organized as an “assembler,” based loosely on the car industry’s model, with a small, yet powerful project management team charged with running all the in-house long-term sub-contractors.
