A Summary of Motor Yacht AL DIRIYAH
The motor yacht AL DIRIYAH is a 79 metre 258 (ft) lengthy steel ship which was manufactured at National Bulk Carriers and conceived by National Bulk Carriers. Accommodating 16 passengers and 34 professional crew, motor yacht AL DIRIYAH was formerly named Danginn; Ultima Ii; Serendipity; Massarrah. The naval architecture office that made the plans and general arrangement for the yacht was National Bulk Carriers. The interior designing is sucessful creation of Ellen Mcclusky.
AL DIRIYAH was built for American shipping magnate Daniel K. Ludwig in 1960 in Japan under the name Danginn. After she was sold to Charles Revson of the Revlon cosmetics empire, who renamed her Ultima II she was reportedly sold to a European banker and named Serendipity. The yacht was then bought by Saudi billionaire Nasser Al-Rashid who named her Massarrah. It was Sheik Ahmed Yamani who bought and named her AL DIRIYAH.
Build & Yacht Design for Luxury Yacht AL DIRIYAH
National Bulk Carriers was the naval architect firm involved in the professional vessel plans for AL DIRIYAH. Her interior design was conceived by Ellen Mcclusky. National Bulk Carriers is also associated with the yacht general design work for this yacht. Built by National Bulk Carriers this yacht was constructed in the yacht producing country of Japan. She was officially launched in Kure in 1960 before being delivered to the owner. A fairly large proportion is manifested with a maximum beam (width) of 11.31 m or 37.1 feet. With a 4.21m (13.8ft) draught (maximum depth) she is fairly deep. The material steel was used in the building of the hull of the motor yacht. Her superstructure above deck is fashioned from steel.
The Propulsion Type And Engineering Package For M/Y AL DIRIYAH:
Powered by two FAIRBANKS-MORSE diesel main engines, AL DIRIYAH can reach a high speed of 15 knots. Connected to her Fairbanks-Morse engine(s) are twin screw propellers. She also has an economical range of 5500 nautical miles whilst underway at her cruise speed of 13 knots. Her total HP is 3600 HP and her total Kilowatts are 2650. As for thrusters she uses Pleuger. With respect to the ship’s stabalisers she uses Vosper.

The yacht has been renamed five times since her launch in 1960. The late American billionaire Daniel K. Ludwig had the yacht built at the commercial shipyard he leased in Japan.
