RIGGING: PERFORMANCE AND EASE OF HANDLING

The decision to move the mast further aft, which comes directly from VPLP’s experience in competition, has numerous advantages for a cruising catamaran.  The shorter boom makes sail handling much easier, the self-tacking jib facilitates tacking, the recentered weight of the rigging considerably reduces the pitch of the boat... a wealth of innovations to facilitate life on board!

LOOK & PERFORMANCES

With the “faceted” aspect of vertical bows, tapered hull forms, a suspended coachroof, and streamlined rigging, the Lagoon 52 already displays some original flair; yet her originality does not end with her exterior “look,” nor with her interior layout. Important – and in some cases radical – resulting decisions remain faithful to our convictions, in terms of elegance, comfort, safety, ease of handling, and of course, performance under sail.

On the exterior, the Lagoon 52 F features an elegant design that promises a strong performance.  The accent is placed on comfort and safety, with features such as wide sidedecks, a cockpit that is flush with the saloon, dedicated living spaces for relaxing and dining, as well as modular equipment for maximizing fun on the exterior.

The interior of the catamaran features a light, bright, original design.  The objective is to optimize the use of space by creating streamlined, comfortable living spaces, with fluid, horizontal lines, for a harmonious atmosphere.

This gorgeous Lagoon 52F sailed in Greece this past summer 2023 with her owner and friends. She will be laid-up from mid October 2023. She has had a full time crew aboard since purchased by the current owner in 2018. The crew completed a full bottom job in May 2023 including new bottom paint, anodes, sail drive seals, hull wax and polish. Needless to say it is turn key and ready to go for a new owner.

Loaded with every comfort amenity you could ever need: 17KW generator, air conditioning in every cabin and salon/galley, large 250 l/h watermaker, multiple fridges/ freezers, icemaker, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. A large solar array and large engine alternators provide alternative sources of energy generation on board. The house batteries were replaced in 2021.

The large 4.3 meter RIB and 40 HP outboard are hoisted on hydraulic davits for easy launch and hoist. There are some 10+ electric winches to hoist and furl the sail wardrobe: main, furling genoa, furling gennaker and asymmetric spinnaker. Full suite of B&G electronics to keep it all on course.

This is the 4 cabin + 1 crew cabin version - a versatile layout that allows charter capability or private use. Everything aboard is designed to be run by 2 persons with ease: docking, sail maneuvering, dinghy launching/hoisting. A luxurious ocean-worthy catamaran.

In addition to the impressive performance potential of the catamaran and its extravagant, levitated deckhouse, this model presents itself as a luxurious, elegant partner with the best sailing performance. She was brought to life by a collaboration between ship architect VanPeteghem-Lauriot Prévost and LAGOON. The LAGOON catamaran 52F comes with 3, 4, 5 or 6 cabins and enough space for up to 14 guests. There is also room for crew cabins in the bow.

The catamaran’s open, large stern platform enables easy and safe boarding and disembarking of the yacht.

Design Exterior

The collaboration between Nauta-Design and LAGOON resulted in a combination of strictly geometric shapes and luxurious, warm materials so that the space of the LAGOON 52F is optimally used. The LAGOON catamaran 52F has continuous horizontal and fluent lines that create a lot of space and a radius of action.

Design Interior

The interior of the 52F flybridge version is characterized by a stylish interior with harmonious colors. Every cabin of the LAGOON catamaran 52F is equipped with a s p acious double bed, , bathroom and extra shower, including sufficient storage space.

The LAGOON catamaran 52F comes with 3, 4, 5 or 6 cabins and enough space for up to 1 4 guests .

The luxurious LAGOON 52F catamaran has a salon with a magnificent place to eat and an attractive lounge on the starboard side. On the port side, you can find the U-shaped galley with lots of storage space, hobs and a large worktop. The perfect place for a board game with a perfect view is the table in the middle of the salon. The LAGOON 52F catamaran allows a lot of daylight below deck through the large hull windows .

Thanks to the portholes that open on the fuselage side, the 52F has the best ventilation dynamics in all cabins.

Lagoon 52': A bold development

The 52’s big surprise is how nice it is under sail in light weather.

The aft positioned mast allows weight to be centred, and the sail plan to be redefined. The mainsail becomes easier to handle, and the foresails offer new possibilities.

At anchor, the new 52’ unveils its advantages: an exceptional platform for leisure afloat.

The flybridge is the strategic place aboard, both for manœuvres and for comfort, at sea and at anchor.

Care has been taken with the technical compartments; the technician will find the space necessary for maintenance.

The galley is very pleasant to use and its central island is very practical. There is everything you need to prepare excellent meals for the crew!

We are nevertheless ‘only’ on a 52-footer! But the cabins are worthy of bigger boats.

Another living area where everyone will find their own space, with this deck saloon which is very pleasant at anchor and under way in fine weather.

The arrival of the Lagoon 400 in 2009 pushed the 410 towards the exit. The 450 and 560 generation inaugurated some very creative volumes and the appearance of the Nauta interior design did the same with the 500, trapped in a pincer movement by these two champions of life aboard. The Lagoon 52 replaces its elder sister, with an innovative sail plan. Revolution, or development?

Back to the future

The IOR monohulls of the 70s flew enlarged genoas. The half and one-tonners and maxis thus paid their tribute to a rule which favoured this configuration, but they also understood that the area flown forward of the mast is not perturbed by the spar. The the heart of the yacht is the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck is expansive, with a comfortable dining and seating area and that's where most of the meals are served. Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled).
