Perrin was amazing! The whole process was such a breeze and we had a great couple of hours out on the water. Really knowledgeable (and we tested him haha) and had great insight about the area and the other boats around us. Would definitely recommend!

Charlie and his wife were fantastic. Very professional, very knowledgeable and incredibly warm and inviting. They were especially awesome with our two little girls, with lots of extras for the girls to enjoy. The boat was great. Spacious and even bigger with more seating than in pictures. Would 100% book with them again!

Captain Charles is THE BEST!! My husband, 3 children and I booked this and it was hands down the highlight of vacation for each one of us. Captain Charles (or Uncle CC as my oldest has now named him) went above and beyond to make sure the kids had fun, felt comfortable and we’re safe. He had numerous life jacket to choose from and let them jump off the boat AND had a huge raft he tied out there for the kids. We had no idea about this and the kids cannot stop talking about it. We all loved touring through the harbor and hearing so many interesting bits from Charles about places, boats and homes we were seeing. It was fascinating. Captain Charles could not have been nicer to work with and meet. His communication was top notch from days before our ride together. Once on the boat, he has a natural way of making you feel like you’ve been friends for years. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our time with Captain Charles on his boat, which was beautiful and the cleanest boat.

Family of four had a fantastic time boating with Captain Charles! Harbor tour was fun and informative and dropping anchor in Mackerel Cove to swim and have lunch was perfect! Boat was roomy, very clean and had shade and sun so everyone was happy! Best day ever… we all highly recommend!

With a capacity of up to 6 guests each, both boats sail on daily charters from Newport RI, beginning mid-April through the end of October. We offer private 90-minute, two-hour, three-hour, half and full-day sailing charters. Private sailing charters in Newport are a unique and enjoyable experience. Sailing in Newport with just your friends, family or coworkers is the quintessential Newport activity, fun and memorable for all!  Bachelorette parties, birthday parties, sails with family and friends or corporate outings are all great ideas to for a private charter.

What’s the difference between a Private Charter and a Public Sail?  Other than having the boat to yourselves, a private charter also allows you to have food and drink delivered or brought on board, listen to your own music, etc. See our FAQ section for more information on food and drink.

Guests are welcome to participate in the sailing or sit back and relax.  No sailing experience is required.

Private Sailing Charters:

Choose a boat, date, and scheduled departure time..

We have three sailboats, Aquidneck, Sightsailer, and Starlight, all of which may be chartered for private sails. Starlight sails with a maximum of 6 guests, Sightsailer sails with a maximum of 13 and Aquidneck can take up to 49 people sailing!

In order to book a charter, determine the number of people in your party and choose the boat whose capacity closely matches your number of guests.

Please note that boat capacity numbers are determined by the Coast Guard and cannot be exceeded under any circumstance.  The Coast Guard considers every human being on the boat to be a person regardless of age, so a two-year-old counts the same as an adult in the total guest count.

Next, determine the desired date and choose one of the boat’s scheduled departure times for your sail.

You may see each boat’s scheduled sailing departures in the Schedules & Rates section. To book a private charter you need to choose one of the boat’s scheduled departures.

Bachelorette and bachelor parties in Newport on one of our boats are always a blast.  Sightsailer is our most popular boat for bachelorette and bachelor outings.  Sightsailer sails with a maximum of 13 guests and offers an exceptionally smooth, spirited and fun sail.   Food and drink for private charters may be easily arranged.  Plug your favorite music into our onboard stereo, or enjoy the peace and tranquility of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay.  Groups of 6 or less may privately charter Starlight.  Groups larger than 13 may join a public sail on Aquidneck.

ENGAGEMENTS

Looking for that special venue to pop the question in Newport?  There are not many places better or prettier than being aboard your private yacht in Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay!

Starlight is available exclusively for private charters for regularly scheduled day or sunset sails with just the two of you and our captain.  Easily the most unique, private, and one of the more affordable ways to get a special setting for your big moment!

Relax as you sail past the magnificent seaside estates of Brenton’s Cove, out to Castle Hill lighthouse and along the shoreline of Newport’s scenic Ocean Drive.  No sailing experience is required, although you may take the wheel and help sail!   Rates start at just $395 for a two-hour private sail.

TEAMBUILDING

Want to get your group involved in the sailing? From teaching sailing basics to taking the wheel, raising sails, line handling, knot tying, timed approaches, or mark roundings we can get your group involved in sailing our boats.  While we don’t offer flat-out, intense racing against another identical boat, we can offer your group a fun, challenging, and educational sail.  With our hands-on approach, everyone will leave the boat knowing more and with big smiles.

Whether buying tickets for one of our  Newport RI Champagne Sunset Sails , afternoon Newport day sail, Cocktail Cruise, Mimosa Sail or Sunset Cruise; or Privately Chartering one of the sailboats for a special family event or corporate event, you will be amazed by their beauty and comfort. Newport Classic Cruises is a cousin to the well known Classic Harbor Line which is known for operating with amazing sailboats and classic yachts in Boston, New York, and Key West, but they are also renowned for their outstanding hospitality and customer service. You will find your captain and crew extremely capable, accommodating, helpful, and friendly whether you are spontaneously buying tickets for a classic day sail or planning your one-of-a-kind wedding day.

Built in 1999 by Scarano Boat Building,  Adirondack II  is reminiscent of a classic turn-of-the-century Pilot Schooner. Like the Pilot Schooners that worked the coast throughout the 19th century she is a wooden hulled traditionally rigged schooner and is a working boat known for her elegant profile and surprising speed. At 80 feet, she provides a comfortable, safe, high-performance sailing experience.

With her roomy deck space and large cockpit,  Adirondack II  can accommodate up to 57 passengers. Her size, comfort and classic lines make  Adirondack II  the perfect boat for corporate and private sailing charters, leisurely day sails and sunset cruises on Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay.

Built in 2016 by Scarano Boat Building, Sloop  Eleanor  is a custom designed Scarano 48’ sloop that can accommodate up to 24 guests in her roomy cockpit with wrap around seating. Her size and classic lines make  Eleanor  the perfect for more intimate  private boat party .

Built in 1992 by Scarano Boat Building, Schooner Madeleine is a 72 foot sailing beauty.  This yacht was specifically designed and built to carry passengers easily and safely sailing through the local waters of Newport. The Schooner Madeleine maintains 19th century sailboat style with a 21st century sailing comfort and convenience. Certified for up to 49 passengers.

The classic yacht Rum Runner II was built in 1929 at the height of prohibition. This classic boat is certified for up to 49 passengers and is the perfect way to cruise through the Narragansett Bay water!

Private sailing on 63' catamaran - up to 40 guests - palm beach florida, chris white custom (1998), description.

This is a 65’ Catamaran in Palm Beach, FLA (winter season) and Newport, RI (summer season). This is a USCG-inspected vessel for up to 42 guests. This is perfect for hosting large parties and never-ending fun on its spacious topside, a centralized cockpit, two large trampolines, and multiple bean bags for lounging and sunning. We are happy to put the anchor down for swimming, paddle boarding, and lounging on the Lilypad. This yacht is the perfect mix of luxury, sailing, and relaxation.

There is a bathroom, and there are staterooms available for changing. Boat was originally built for a family to sail around the world. Her interior is comfortable, safe, cool, and shaded, with room to sit on the couch. The beauty of sailing on a catamaran is it’s completely stable. The captain can easily put yacht in irons (keep her at a standstill) to allow for more comfortable maneuverability when needed for all guests.

What we have aboard: The Captain and crew provide all the necessary accommodations for a comfortable cruise: Signature Rum Punch, ice, water, drinkware, and blankets for chilly sunset sails. Please bring provisions, additional drinks (no red wine), towels, and non-spray sunscreen are the only essentials with you. We also have plenty of cooler space and can keep food warm. If you bring provisions and libations, your Captain and crew will plate and serve them throughout your charter. We have music and the ability to connect your device to our system.
