Since its inception in 2019, Valhalla Boatworks (VBW) has established itself as the world leader in semi-custom high-performance luxury center consoles. Created, owned and operated by the Viking Yacht Company, the legendary builder of the world’s finest sportfishing yachts, Valhalla Boatworks offers seven center consoles from 28 to 55 feet in its game-changing V Series.
Like the Viking fleet, the V-33, V-37, V-41, V-46, V-55 and the V-55 Sport deliver unmatched performance, engineering, comfort, quality and fishing capabilities. The V Series center consoles thrive as hard-core fishing boats, fun family sport cruisers or luxury yacht tenders. The recently announced V-28 and V-29 will also provide unmatched capability and accommodations.
The V Series is the result of the cooperative effort of the Viking Design & Engineering team and Michael Peters Yacht Design (MPYD). The V Series utilizes MPYD’s patented Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel running surface that reduces drag while increasing speed, stability and efficiency.
“It’s the most advanced and proven stepped-hull design in the world,” says Viking Design Manager David Wilson. “The twin steps and tunnel not only give you fast and efficient performance but also precise handling and a very stable ride.”
The design traits of Viking convertibles can be seen throughout these center consoles. Proud bows, gently sloping S-shaped sheers, double forward chines, helm pods, raised toe rails and mezzanine seating are some of the hallmarks. Viking engineering and mechanical prowess shine through, with customized Seakeeper installations that maintain storage or deck space and mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems designed and built to unprecedented levels. You’ll be hard pressed to find a center console with a higher level of fit and finish than a Valhalla.
The same resources of Viking’s vertically integrated company are at the disposal of Valhalla Boatworks owners, so standard and custom components and systems of each build such as hardtops, marlin or gap towers and electronics packages are being designed and installed in-house by our experienced shipwrights to guarantee turnkey delivery. Hardtop packages can be loaded with top-shelf components in flawless installations.
Valhalla Boatworks offers outboards from both Mercury and Yamaha in twin, triple or quad applications depending on the model. The efficiency of the stepped-hull design combined with the advanced outboard technology provide best-in-class speed, fuel economy and range. Low engine-noise and vibration levels, electronic power steering and optional joystick helm control systems with GPS station-keeping make operating your V Series an enjoyable, stress-free experience.
Bottom Line: The V Series stands out as a truly unique fleet of center consoles in a market saturated with similarity.
Please contact Valhalla Boatworks for more information about any of these models.

With more than a half-century of building prowess, the Viking Yacht Company is known for showcasing new models. At the 2019 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, it added to this repertoire with the introduction of Valhalla Boatworks, featuring a trio of custom high-performance outboard-powered center-console boats: the V-33, V-37 and V-41 models. We tested the V-33.
It should be no surprise that when a yacht manufacturer that has built nearly 5,000 yachts up to 93 feet since it began in 1964 takes on a new venture, it will be with grit and commitment, starting with a stand-alone factory on the Mullica River near the Bass River in New Gretna, New Jersey.
The V-33 boasts plenty of bluewater genes and is poised for action, whether its mission is a stellar family cruiser for day trips to Nantucket or a sailfish rumble in the Florida Keys. Viking’s engineering group partnered with Michael Peters Yacht Design to create a double-step hull with a tunnel along the centerline. The tunnel walls create two vertical strakes that act like keels, which deliver stability when negotiating high-speed turns. There’s no sliding or unsteady behavior. Idling or running full-tilt, the V-33 handles and feels like a luxury car.
The ocean was as flat as Lake Worth the day we ran the boat with Valhalla’s Chris Gallagher out of the Viking Service Center in Riviera Beach, Florida. With twin 400 hp Mercury Verado outboards, the V-33 rushed to a top speed of better than 61 mph; 63 and 65 mph have been attained by Mercury and Valhalla reps with other V-33s. Our test boat was hull No. 7, and we were the first to run it, so some prop work could be in order. With the optional 414-pound Seakeeper SK2 gyrostabilizer ($42,000) in the bilge aft, the Kiekhaefer racing-style trim tabs lifted the stern to hold the bow down for good visibility while accelerating from a dead stop, and we reached the 30 mph mark in about 10 seconds seamlessly. With afternoon traffic providing sizable wakes, the boat ignored the wash for a smooth ride. Omit the Seakeeper, and the space belowdecks becomes a sixth fish box, or a second livewell to complement the 52-gallon transom well. In the lazerette lined with Dri-Dek tiles, mechanicals and plumbing fittings are neat and accessible. A sea chest with a Hooker 2500 variable-speed pump controlled from the helm keeps live bait frisky. A varied array of large fish lockers includes two beneath the cockpit sole, another pair flanking the helm console, and a 98-gallon, 60-by-29-by-18-inch fish locker in the bow.
The molded nonslip sole is grippy yet cleans easily, and the 24 1/2-inch cockpit depth, wraparound coaming bolsters, and recessed bow rail blend security and comfort. The inward-opening portside dive door is 24 inches wide with a removable stainless-steel swim ladder. Abaft the fiberglass helm seating module is a slide-out cooler, tackle stowage, and rod and drink holders in the backrest. A lounge forward of the helm console includes rod and drink holders, as well as ample stowage beneath the removable cushions. Freeboard in the bow area is 31 inches for safe line handling and fishing. Additional lounge seating with hidden fasteners and toe kicks can be added without compromising usable deck space.
The helm station features a wraparound Costa Clear windshield panel, an Ongaro stainless-steel wheel, and Bocatech 12-volt switching with backlit labeling for ease of reading. The dash accommodates a pair of 17-inch Garmin touchscreen displays, and additional electronics find a home in the overhead panel of the fiberglass hardtop, featuring an underside that’s gelcoated in a glare-reducing color. The hardtop also includes rod holders, a radar pod, and Lumitec spreader and overhead lighting.
Seating choices range from the standard three-person bench seat to double or triple helm chairs with flip-up bolsters and electric slides. Inside the console is stand-up headroom for using the Dometic MSD, a Corian sink with a retractable shower wand, stowage space, a DC electrical panel, and excellent access to the backside of the helm.
Because each Valhalla V-33 is essentially custom-built, a good comparison is the Mag Bay 33 outfitted with twin 400 hp Verados, for about $460,000 equipped similarly to our test boat. Of course, both boats can be had for prices in the low to mid-$300s, but most owners of such boats buy them tricked out. Either way, with alpine marks in construction, fit and finish, performance and style, the V-33 from Valhalla Boatworks is aimed squarely at welcoming more boaters to the Viking family.

Innovation never rests at Valhalla Boatworks. Just last week, Valhalla celebrated their 100 th delivery of both the V-33 and V-41. How they decided to celebrate? By announcing their next adventure today at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show – the V-28 Bay & the V-29 Hybrid. If anything can be inferred from Viking and Valhalla’s mantra of building a better boat every day, the V-28 and V-29 will undoubtedly rise to the top.
Scheduled to debut at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in March 2024, these two new models will expand the Viking and Valhalla pedigree into a smaller, nimbler class of inshore and flats boats. Built to the same quality and customization of the current models, the two boats will easily fulfill the desires of owners demanding a fully customized flats or bay boat. As two distinctly different hulls, the Michael Peters’ designed hulls will perform to the same standards as the other stepped-bottom models.
The V-28 will raise the bar with a more traditional bay style boat, offering single or twin engine configurations, and casting platforms forward and aft. The aft section will house flanking 25-gallon livewells with a hidden centerline aft bench seat. Under the center line seat is access to the lazarette and a fully finished bilge compartment. Moving forward, you’ll find twin in-deck fish boxes plumbed overboard. Helm seating options range from the traditional leaning post to custom Release Marine seating found on the larger Viking and Valhalla fleet.
Forward of the console is another 25-gallon livewell for a total of 75-gallons of wells to house every conceivable need for live baiting. The foredeck has flanking lockable rod storage for 7-9′ gear. This foredeck will be the largest casting deck currently on the market. This boat will also feature lithium battery storage for today’s insanely technical trolling motor systems as well as the typical Valhalla options such as faux teak toe rails, helm consoles, and large boat features that sets Viking and Valhalla in the pole position for the market. Console options include a half windshield, full pro-curve windshield, or a Costa Marine panel. A custom Palm Beach Towers top can be added, or customers can opt for the bare top for low bridge access.
The V-29 will feature a slightly higher gunwale with smaller casting platform on the aft section. Power options will consist of single or twin engine configurations with jack plates to optimize performance of this technical boat. The aft section will also house a 26-gallon livewell. The helm seating configuration has the same feel and look of the V-33 with a pull-out aft facing seat and bench seating which can be built with the Release Marine package. The V-29 resembles the bow of the V-33 with optional seating and faux teak rails, a bow table, and more. Console options include a half windshield, full pro-curve windshield, or a Costa Marine panel.
Projecting a goal of 32 hulls in the first year, you can expect to see Hull #1 of the V-28 Bay Boat and the V-29 Hybrid at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in March 2024.
