What are the best Greek Islands to explore?
With more than 6,000 islands to explore, spanning major island chains such as the Cyclades Islands, the Aegean Islands, the Sporades Islands, the Ionian Islands, the Dodecanese Islands, and the Saronic Islands, there’s a Greek locale to match every desired experience. Whether you want an off-the-beaten-track feel or want to be in the heart of all the action, Greece offers the ideal spot. Some of the most popular with yachting enthusiasts include:
Considered one of the most dazzling and exclusive of all the Greek islands, Santorini offers charm in abundance. Explore cobbled streets drenched in bougainvillea, party at decadent beach clubs, or enjoy dining at some of Greece’s most spectacular restaurants.
Sandy beaches lapped by turquoise waters, striking interiors, and pretty whitewashed buildings are the hallmarks of Mykonos. This Greek Island is known for its ultra-hip nightspots that attract internationally acclaimed DJs, refined beach restaurants, and label-laden boutiques.
Pretty Crete is one of the largest and most populous islands in Greece, known for its rich culture, superb cuisine, and spectacular National Park. Explore cities steeped in history and fascinating ancient ruins such as Knossos, first occupied during the Neolithic era, 7,000 B.C.
Considered one of Greece’s most romantic destinations, pretty Hydra will seduce you with its quaint towns and relaxed atmosphere. Hydra is a car-free island, giving it the feel of a bygone area that over the years has attracted renowned artists and jet setters in equal measure.
There’s lots going on in Rhodes, with plenty to see and do, making it a popular yachting destination. Rhode’s Medieval Old Town is a must-visit and is regarded as one of the best-fortified cities in Europe. On Rhodes, you’ll also find the ancient Lindos Acropolis.
While not technically a Greek island, mainland Greece should not be ignored. Athens is brimming with Greek culture and mythology, exclusive restaurants, designer boutiques, and world-class offerings. A must-visit is the Acropolis of Athens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and considered the most complete ancient Greek monumental complex.

New to charter?
The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is due at the time of the final charter payment. Under MYBA terms, this sum is usually equivalent to 30 per cent of the total charter fee, but may be up to 40 per cent in some cases.
Intended to cover the operating expenses of a charter as explained under Charter Terms, such as fuel, food, drinks, port fees and ad hoc incidentals, the APA will be given to the captain before the start of your charter. The Captain will ensure that the yacht is fully fuelled and provisioned when you step on board. While an up-to-date summary of accounts can be requested at any time during your charter, a full set of accounts will normally be submitted by your captain at the end of the cruise. If, during the charter, the expenditure exceeds the sum already paid, additional cash funds will be required at once.
All outstanding bills from the yacht charter should be settled in cash or by bank transfer before your final disembarkation. Of course, any remaining credit at the end of your charter will be reimbursed to you in full. On request, transfer arrangements to and from the yacht can be made by Burgess or by the yacht’s captain, payment for which will be deducted from your APA.

We provide a selection of three charter options: Bareboat Charters , Skippered Charters , and Crewed Charters . Opting for a Bareboat Charter means you have the freedom to captain the yacht yourself, requiring only a valid International Certificate of Competence (ICC). If you don't possess an ICC or simply prefer to sit back and relax, you have the option to have one of our experienced skippers join your journey, taking the helm for you. We collaborate with a network of highly skilled, multilingual professionals who are eager to come on board.
It's worth noting that some of our larger catamarans and motor yachts are exclusively available as Crewed Charters. With this option, a dedicated crew of at least two individuals, typically a skipper and a hostess or cook, will cater to your every need, ensuring a truly indulgent experience for you and your guests.

Discover the Greek Islands
Depending on your luxury yacht charter Greece itinerary, visit some of these stunning locations.
The birthplace of democracy and of western civilization. Looming over the city skyline, are the majestic columns of the Parthenon on Acropolis hill - one the most important architectural monuments in the world. Nearby are many musuems and the Plaka area, a charming pedestrian tourist area with many traditional restaurants, bars and unique shops.
See the famous Temple of Aphaia (490 BC) on a 1.5-hour round-trip hike or explore the quaint little village and have coffee overlooking the bay. Aegina boasts the best pistachio nuts in the world and they can be found in the local shops.
When viewed from seaward, Poros is one of the most beautiful towns in Greece – arriving is a great photo opportunity. Wander streets lined with Mediterranean bougainvillea, jasmine, cactus, fig and cypress trees on the way to the clock tower to see panoramic views of the sun setting over the majestic Peloponnese Mountains.
Wander the cobbled streets and Venetian laneways of this famous historic and cosmopolitan port. Visit art galleries and shop for local handicrafts, exquisite clothing and jewelry. A 30-minute coastal walk or ten-minute water taxi ride leads to the rustic Miramare hotel and charming Mandraki beach or hike up to Profitis Ilias Monastery which is an incredible 2-hour hike up overlooking Hydra town.
Take a stroll along the boardwalk to see the Greek caiques (traditional boats) being hand made in their cradles. Then explore Admiral Bouboulina's fascinating 18th century mansion museum and tour bustling Spetses town.
Visit the largest ancient amphitheatre in Greece. Epidaurous with its 14,000-seat capacity is a spectacular example of ancient architecture and only a 20- minute taxi from the harbor.
Enjoy an afternoon swim in crystal clear waters, snorkel or paddle to shore then crawl into the natural thermal hot tub on the beach of Kolona Bay. The volcanic heated water is 38 degrees Celsius.
Loutra, Kythnos
Explore this charming beachfront town with many cafes and tavernas. Enjoy a soak in the hot thermal waters on the beach as they cascade from under sacred church ground.
Kleftiko Bay, Milos
Arrive at uninhabited Kleftiko bay then swim or snorkel in translucent waters. For a surreal experience, take a kayak through a maze of breathtaking caves admiring the surrounding white cliffs - some as high as 100m.
Visit the spectacular volcanic creek of Sarakiniko and hike around the deep grotto of Papafraga. Later in the day see the charming fishing village of Madrakia and the ancient, Hellenistic amphitheatre at Tripiti where the statue of the Venus de Milos was found. Other sites include the geological museum near the harbor.
Maintains a traditional charm and depth beyond the tourist cover. The landscape changes its hue with the light and shapes of rugged landscapes combined with carved shapes of white buildings cascading down the hillsides. In the old port town of Livadi, memories of olden days appear, while at the hilltop town of Hora the cosmopolitan town square has something for everyone with restaurants and small bars.
Platy Yialos, Sifnos is one of the best kept secrets of this rural Cycladic island. The harbour is only 6 years old and not listed in most cruising guides, so most sailors pass right by! The small modern harbour offers good protection from most weather, and there are fine restaurants and specialty stores along the beautiful beach and promenade.
Folegandros
At the tiny rustic port of Folegandros a bus ride takes you up to to see the magical hilltop 'Chora' village, with incredible drop-off views of the coastline and Cycladic islands. Enjoy a sunset cocktail at one of the local hotels followed by a nice traditional taverna meal.
Explore the many wonders of Ios, including Homer's tomb where the famous writer of the Greek odyssey is entombed following a shipwreck. Drive along the coast of Ios and stop for a swim at either Manganari or Filoportas beach, two of the best beaches in the Aegean, or take some time to explore the early Cycladic civilization archaeological site - awarded a UNESCO award for the best archaeological site in Europe.
Santorini is the most breathtaking of all the Greek islands. The island is what remains of a huge volcanic cataclysm in 1500BC that left a collapsed six-mile round crater. Must see historic sites are the entombed Minoan town of Akrotiri and the hilltop settlement of ancient Thira that dates from 900BC. The UNESCO heritage town of Oia is the most beautiful place to stay and is famous for the sunsets. Santorini is well known for its fine wine and wine tasting is enjoyed at many vineyards.
In the tiny fishing cove of Skinoussa there is room to dock a few yachts on the pier and a few in the tiny bay. What is special about this little known island, is the lovely beach across from the yachts, the tiny 'Chora' hilltop town of 147 inhabitants and a fabulous restaurant.
Visit the 4th-century Panagia Ekatontapyliani (Our Lady of a Hundred Doors). The oldest remaining Byzantine church in Greece has exceptional architecture, religious icons and an exquisite marble baptismal chamber. Wander the bougainvillea-fringed streets and check out a maze of shops offering fashion, jewelry and local handicrafts.
The most important archaeological and religious site of ancient Greece, Delos remains in an excellent state of preservation. Wander through an amphitheatre, stadium, private palaces and Roman baths, finishing your exploration with a climb up sacred Mount Kythnos for a divine panoramic view of the Cycladic Islands.
Arriving by yacht into Syros is an impressive experience, and stepping off the yacht to visit both the Catholic and Greek Orthodox cathedrals, on their respective hills, is unique in Greece and offers a great view back down to the harbour. Ermoupolis is a highlight for photographers as the Venetian architecture, piaza and colorful pastel buildings is like Amalfi Italy.
From the yacht and busy cruise ship port take a bus or taxi to explore the labyrinth of white buildings ending by the windmills of Mykonos town ideal for people watching. Enjoy shopping, dining and the busiest nightlife in Greece.
Discover the little known island of Kea and the quaint harbor of Vourkari, walk around the bay to find the deserted ruins of a 3000 BC pre-historic settlement. A swim at a beautiful beach five minutes walk from the boats is a delightful way to relax before sunset.

Greece Yacht Charter
Motor Yacht Charters in Greece
Even though motor yachts are predominantly concentrated in the Athens/Piraeus area , you will find motor yachts available for charter in marinas all across Greece , including Thessaloniki , Chalkidiki , Skiathos , Volos , Mykonos , Corfu , and Rhodes .
A motor yacht is the ideal choice if you wish to cover the major island chains of the Aegean Sea . In contrast to sailing yachts and catamarans, motor yachts offer superior speed , increased space , private suites , and onboard water toys . Their monohull design enables them to easily navigate narrow waterways with agility and style.
Greece is truly massive and there is much to be seen; chartering a motor yacht allows for maximum exploration , fitting many more islands into your itinerary compared to a charter done on a sailing yacht or catamaran. But on a yacht charter it is not only about where you go, but how you get there, and with a motor yacht, you will travel most luxuriously .
Motor Yachts vs Sailboats/Catamarans
A primary advantage of motor yachts lies in their speed, facilitating the ability to cover longer distances in a shorter time — a huge benefit given the large stretches of open sea among the Aegean Islands.
A recent increase in size among top-tier motor yachts allows for the accommodation of larger groups of guest , along with the inclusion of amenities and luxuries previously uncommon, such as generous water toy collections , open-air Jacuzzis , and much more.
It is noteworthy, however, that in contrast to sailing yachts, luxury motor yachts consume a large amount of fuel and generally entail significantly higher charter costs , a pivotal consideration for those planning a yacht charter vacation in Greece on a budget.
Additionally, the absence of sailing capabilities renders motor yachts more vulnerable to adverse weather conditions , albeit a rare occurrence during the Greek summer—a factor worth acknowledging.
MOTOR YACHT vs CATAMARAN. Experts explain the Advantages of each Luxury Yacht Charter.

Tips for Booking a Luxury Yacht Charter
- A superyacht charter offers an ideal means to efficiently explore the expansive Greek islands region. Ranging from 80-100ft luxury motor yachts to the world’s largest superyachts spanning 120-200ft , guests can tailor their experience to their preferences.
- Commencing in Athens , the primary hub for luxury yacht charters allows for swift access to the Cyclades islands —home to renowned destinations such as Santorini , Mykonos , Paros , and Naxos . Athens serves as a strategic starting point for an immersive exploration of these captivating locales.
- For those desiring a superyacht charter during the summer months , it is advisable to contact the charter team at least 12 months in advance to secure preferred vessels and itineraries. Planning ahead ensures a seamless and personalized experience tailored to individual preferences.
- For luxury yacht charters during the mild winter season, booking 6 months before the charter date is recommended.
Best time to charter a motor yacht in Greece
While the summer months of June to August mark the high season for yacht charters in the Greek islands, the Mediterranean climate, characterized by warm temperatures and mild winters, allows for an extended time frame to secure your ideal yacht. To optimize your Greek islands charter experience, it is recommended to avoid months associated with heavy rainfall, extreme heat, and cold .
The periods of May-June and September-October present quieter and less crowded conditions for anchorages and routes. Additionally, charter rates during these months are notably more economical compared to the high season, particularly for sought-after destinations like Santorini and the Cyclades.
Considering the limited and expensive availability of berths for larger yacht charters in popular marinas, such as the well-frequented Alimos Marina , during the peak period, early booking is wise . It is advisable to plan well in advance, as some of the most desirable dates and luxury yachts are reserved up to two summers ahead .
Popular Destinations for Greek Motor Yacht Charter
The Greek islands are grouped into clusters, each offering unique cultural attractions for a dream superyacht vacation. Greece has over 6000 islands , which of only about 200 are inhabited, scattered across the Aegean and Ionian Sea . Often overlooked, the Greek mainland offers a picturesque coastline with ancient ruins , beautiful beaches , stunning anchorages , and numerous world-famous historical sites and ruins , making it ideal for a private yacht charter.
Tip for those who Suffer from Seasickness
Motor yachts come equipped with stabilizers and motion minimizers, ensuring a comfortable sailing experience, and reducing seasickness, except during the Meltemi season when seas may be rough. For those new to chartering or those suffering from severe seasickness, consider flying to Mykonos instead of sailing from Athens to Santorini.
Cyclades - Choose Large motor yachts with experienced crew for Meltemi
The Cyclades islands , situated in the central Aegean Sea , are the most well-known yacht destinations in Greece. Mykonos , accessible by air, serves as a focal point and a convenient departure location for yacht charters in Greece.
Mykonos can pose challenges for motor yacht charters due to strong northerly winds , known as the Meltemi . Opting for a larger motor yacht with an experienced captain or a crewed yacht charter can address this issue, allowing navigation around the island’s leeward side. Large motor yachts equipped with stabilizers ensure a comfortable journey, minimizing the risk of seasickness .
Islands like Mykonos and Syros feature well-equipped marinas and numerous anchorages, providing ample options for an exciting yacht charters. Apart from Santorini’s iconic blue-white scenery , Zakynthos’ Navagio beach stands out as one of Greece’s most photographed spots , featuring the famous shipwreck Panagiotis .
Less crowded islands such as Paros , Sifnos , Folegandros , and Anafi offer tranquil settings, excellent local cuisine , and a chance to experience unspoiled Greece. The volcanic Santorini is a must-visit , though it can get crowded in the summer, posing challenges for anchoring space.
Classy 8-day Cyclades Yacht Charter Itinerary – Explore Greek Islands in Serenity!
Ionian islands - motor yacht charter away from the crowds.
7 Day Yacht Charter in the Ionian Sea: Corfu, Sivota, Parga, Antipaxos, Paxos
Locally known as “ Seven Islands “, (despite counting over 20 islands and islets), these islands are one of the premier destinations for motor yacht charters in Greece. Even larger than the Cyclades, traveling between these islands takes hours, making speed a crucial factor in the Ionian region. Despite having airports, there’s no direct flights between the Ionian islands , necessitating advance planning with the motor yacht charter rental service for visits to Zakynthos , Ithaca , Kefalonia , Paxos , and Corfu .
The cosmopolitan Corfu, exuding old-European charm , serves as a primary starting point for charters in the Ionian Islands. However, marinas in Lefkada and Kefalonia also offer convenient access.
Among the Ionian jewels, the smaller islands of Paxos , Homeric Ithaca , and Othonoi are true gems for a yacht charter in Greece. These green islands, dotted with cute little villages and surrounded by the stunning azure waters of the Ionian Sea, provide a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle. Given the potential challenges of rough Meltemi winds during the summer, opting for a large, crewed motor yacht charter is advisable .
Caves of Paxos - Yacht Charter Greece
Saronic islands (mainland greece) - best motor yacht charters based in athens/ piraeus.
Most of Greece’s top motor yacht charters are based in the area of Athens/Piraeus . It is therefore the ideal place to start your yacht charter. Look for example at Alimos Marina offering state-of-the-art facilities and a wide selection of luxury yachts .
Our recommended itinerary explores the Saronic islands— Aegina , Poros , Agistri , and Hydra , home of the Poets. The advantage lies in the short distances between these islands, making island hopping easy and swift .
This region also allows for visits to many great historical sites on the mainland, including the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio and the ancient theater of Epidaurus . For your best motor yacht charter in mainland Greece, reach out to us, and we’ll arrange a tailored experience .

The dodecanese - berthing for large motor yachts.
Dodecanese Islands 7 Day Yacht Charter Itinerary Greece: Rhodes, Tilos, Astypalea, Kalymnos, Kos, Nisyros, Symi
Although it’s named the 12 Islands the Dodecanese actually consists of as many as 150 islands . Situated in the southernmost part of the Aegean Sea, Rhodes takes precedence as the largest and most frequented island. Featuring one of the nation’s most extensive and contemporary marinas , Rhodes’ Marina offers ample berthing spaces for even the largest motor yachts. Noteworthy for its exceptional security measures and amenities, the marina is conveniently located just a 20-minute drive from the island’s bustling international airport. A highlight of Rhodes is the well-preserved medieval city and ancient ruins, including the famous Colossus .
Patmos Island , serene and steeped in spirituality, is home to the Cave of the Apocalypse . Symi charms with neoclassical architecture, while Kalymnos is celebrated for its sponge diving and rugged terrain, and Leros offers tranquility with medieval castles .
Karpathos provides an authentic Greek experience with traditional villages and a mountainous interior, and Kastellorizo, the easternmost island, features vibrant houses and the amaxing Blue Cave . Each island in the Dodecanese contributes to a tapestry of Greek history, picturesque landscapes, and cultural authenticity.
Northern Sporades islands - Explore the Marine life with a motor yacht charter
The Greek island cluster of the Sporades offers an abundance of natural harbors and fishing sanctuaries, providing secure anchorages for motor yacht charters, often without charge . The proximity of the islands minimizes distances, leading to reduced fuel consumption , and consequently a reduction in the overall charter cost .
Skiathos , the central island, stands out for its vibrant nightlife , culinary offerings, and shopping opportunities . Adjacent Skopelos , famously known as the island of “Mamma Mia” , beckons with tranquility, featuring a coastline adorned with lighthouses, rocky formations, and pristine beaches. Alonnisos , nestled in the heart of Greece’s only Marine Park, stands as the most serene and picturesque of the Sporades. This protected area discourages activities like spearfishing and trawling, fostering an exceptional marine environment and the opportunity to encounter rare marine mammals .
The Northern Sporades are globally acclaimed for scuba diving , and renowned for both their natural beauty and marine archaeological significance . However, it is important to note that entering and mooring in these island’s anchorages may entail a small fee .
Things you should know before you go
- Greece has some protected archeological locations where it is prohibited to snorkel and scuba dive. Before you start a scuba diving expedition, confirm the area with your Captain and boat staff.
- If you want to stay the night on land during your yacht charter in Greece rather than onboard in the port, the Captain must inform the port authority beforehand as it is illegal to dock a vacant yacht at the ports.
- Consult with your yacht charter in Greece for pre-booking vehicles and tour operators for inland ATVs and bikes.
- Fishing with scuba gear is prohibited.

Navigating Paradise: The Ultimate Guide to Greece Yacht Charters for Sophisticated Travelers
Reasons for greece yacht charters among discerning travelers.
W ith its charming scenery, azure waters, and many islands, Greece offers a yachting experience that can only be rivaled by none. Choose Your Ideal Yacht
Choosing the right yacht is your primary decision in your Greek sea journey. Whether you prefer a swift motor yacht, grand sailing boat, or luxurious catamaran, the experience you will enjoy will be distinct. Motor yachts provide the fullness of incredible velocity and motionlessness accordingly, while catamarans allow maximum space for your comfort. As for the grand traditional sailing boats, it is about the experience. Such unique options as danielisyachting.com propose an extensive list of yachts for all four to choose their best. The following passages will consider every type of yacht. Besides, it will provide tips on how to decide the most suitable one. Comfort, efficiency, and elegance will be highlighted.

Capturing Local Culture and Flavors
Finally, Greek cuisine and culture should be at the core of the experience. While it would be impossible to encompass each island's history and local cuisines in the manuscript, highlighting the cultural treasures accessible to guests is highly recommended. Since the crew is recruited and guided by professionals from Danielis Yachting, there is always at least one native Greek per voyage. Hence, providing an overview of common aspects, such as getaways to local restaurants and festival participation, should create a sufficient foundation for this preliminary research on local attractions on each island.

Discovering Fraser Greece, the highest value Greek charter fleet
To say that Greece is currently enjoying a yachting renaissance would be an understatement. It is currently home to the world’s third highest concentration of owners with yachts above 40 metres and, according to leading brokerage Fraser, was the number one destination for yacht owners and charter clients in 2023.
Having witnessed an increased demand from owners and charterers for the region following the pandemic, Fraser decided to open its first dedicated full-service office for clients in Athens in 2022. With its acquisition last year of the renowned Atalanta Golden Yachts (AGY), the company moved to larger premises this year with all teams now working under the brand Fraser Greece.
According to Vassilis Fotilas, award-winning sales broker and now managing director of Fraser Greece, the attraction of the region for both owners and charterers remains at an all-time high. “We have been proud and privileged to serve and support a vast number of Greek clients within our worldwide portfolio over many years with all of our yacht services. We realised we could do so much more with a dedicated and knowledgeable local team on the ground here. Today, especially with the inclusion of the incredible AGY charter team, our clients can now benefit from not only the most skilled and respected specialists in the region but equally enjoy direct access to the highest-valued fleet of Greek charter yachts in the world today – all managed by Fraser.”
BOAT delves into some of Fraser’s high-value charter yachts on the market and how the brokerage firm can support owners on their charter journey.
An expert in the Greek market
While Fraser's Greece office is a recent addition to the global company, the brokerage firm itself has been a cornerstone of the industry since its inception in 1947. With a reputation built on trust and quality, Fraser's expansion into the Greek market in 2022 marked a significant milestone in its journey. However, it was the acquisition of Atalanta Golden Yachts (AGY) in 2023 that truly solidified Fraser's foothold in Greece. AGY quickly rose to prominence as a leading Greek company since its inception in 2006, specialising in charter, sales and yacht management.
“AGY has always been a Greece-based company and the largest, most-respected Greece-based company over the years. It very much brought Greek yachting to where it is today,” Fotilas explains.
This strategic move not only bolstered Fraser's presence in Greece but served as a conduit for knowledge exchange and collaboration, bridging Fraser's extensive global expertise with AGY's deep-rooted understanding of the Greek yachting landscape. At the head of the team is Fotilas, a multi-industry award-winning broker, born and raised in Greece, having sold over a quarter of a billion euros worth of yachts. Popy Kaia, charter director, is a highly experienced and respected charter specialist with over 25 years of experience, 18 of those with AGY. The first person of Greek nationality to have ever been elected to the MYBA Board, Kaia is renowned for her work introducing the MYBA standard in Greece and her advocacy for the implementation of MYBA guidelines for yacht owners, captains and crew.
The team takes great pride in its highly collaborative approach, not only within the Greek office but also in coordination with Fraser brokers from over 20 international offices, including Monaco, Fort Lauderdale, San Diego, Hong Kong, Sydney, Palma and London. This ensures that when clients engage with a Fraser broker, they benefit from the collective expertise of the entire Fraser network. Such synergy enables them to remain at the forefront of market trends, offering valuable insights and guidance.
“If you don't know Greece, organising the best charter itinerary can be very complex because the coastline is huge,” Fotilas notes. “There are over 6,000 islands and islets and, of course, we are famous for our winds. But, when you know what your client wants and you know Greece, you can put those two together and work closely with the crew to make sure the client has the best experience.”
Building lasting relationships
Fraser emphasises that cultivating long-standing relationships with yacht owners, charterers, brokers and crew is key to navigating the Greek market successfully.
As Kaia points out: "Boasting a remarkable crew retention rate, Fraser fosters a culture where crew members progress from deckhand through to chief officers and captains. This commitment to nurturing long-term relationships ensures that clients enjoy the very best charter experience possible. The dedication of our captains, many of whom have been with us since their early career stages as deckhands and chief officers, together with their expertise in Greek and Mediterranean waters, contribute to the exceptional service we can provide.”
“When it comes to charter, you can't underestimate the importance of a good crew,” says Fotilas. “We understand that very well, which is why we strive to work so closely with the crew on all the yachts we represent.”
“The soul of the yacht is the crew. You can have the best yacht in the world, but if the crew is not good, then the client will not have a good time on board,” Kaia adds.
“The strong, long-standing relationships we maintain with brokers, who are not just partners but also friends, reflect the trust and mutual respect that facilitate successful collaboration and exceptional service to clients. Furthermore, the loyalty of our owners who have remained with us for years due to their trust and confidence speak for themselves about the quality of our service. We are their preferred partner as they know that we will maximise the potential charter volume of their yachts and will deliver exceptional results.” Kaia says.
The highest-value yachts in Greece
Fraser takes pride in presenting an impressive selection of high-value superyachts available for charter in Greece. Amongst these, the crown jewel stands tall as the largest yacht currently open for charter in Greece: the 95.1-metre O’Pari , built by Golden Yachts in 2020. O’Pari boasts luxurious cabins capable of accommodating up to 12 guests. She also features comprehensive wellness amenities including a gym, hammam and sauna. Equipped with a helipad and adorned with eco-friendly credentials, O’Pari offers a sought-after charter experience.
The second largest charter yacht in the fleet is 84.7-metre, Golden Yachts O'ptasia . With a recent paint job carried out on her hull and superstructure in Matterhorn white, she is looking as good as new. Her wellness centre, gym and comprehensive list of water toys make her an attractive yacht on the charter market.
Another standout vessel in the fleet is the O’Mathilde , a 56-metre built by Golden Yachts, sporting a brand-new paint job in 2023. Hosting up to 14 guests across seven cabins, O’Mathilde features an outdoor gym and with sea views, an al fresco cinema and an impressive array of water toys. Also in Fraser Greece’s fleet is the 51.8-metre Vertigo , the 51.8-metre Akira One and the 39.9-metre Mamma Mia , to name just a few.

Yacht Charters in Greece Report Unusually High Number of Bookings
Summer 2024 is busier than usual in the Mediterranean, especially with the limited offer of crewed yacht charters. First-choice motor yachts report a 65% booking rate, while catamarans are up to 73% booked. The remaining dates are being snapped up fast.
United States - April 12, 2024 —
The team at MyGreekCharter is raising an alarm—if planning to wait until the last minute to book a charter, it might be too late.
“Unlike vacation rentals, the supply is virtually unlimited, and yachts are limited by available docking space in marinas. Having a yacht in a summer hotspot with docking space and charter rights is becoming increasingly more difficult,” says Daniel Asmus, owner of DMA Yachting.
For those yearning for a lavish summer getaway, the advice is to plan without delay, as the prime booking window is swiftly closing.
Key Market Trends for the 2024 Greek Yacht Charter Market
- The development of new marinas is progressing slowly, restricting the overall yacht capacity.
- Summer season kicks off almost 3 weeks earlier and ends 3 weeks later (April-October)
- Luxury tourism has grown 87% since Covid.
- The charter season is extending, starting in April this year, marking an earlier onset than in previous years.
Winter 2024/25 is filling up as well in the Caribbean
6 months earlier than in previous years, Caribbean charters are reporting 40% complete. The Caribbean, particularly the British Virgin Islands (BVI), is witnessing an uptrend similar to Greece. Mo Pristas from CharterGuru has reported unusually high bookings in the BVI, while Bahamas Motor Yachts reports a noticeably prolonged 2024 summer charter season.
The Average Value of Crewed Charters Has Been Growing
Motor yachts are at the forefront of this growth, with this yacht category experiencing a 30% increase in the average expenditure per charter since 2021. This increase reflects a robust demand and a shift in consumer preferences towards more luxurious and extended yacht charters.
An additional factor to the increase of the charter amount is simply the increased size and value of the available yachts, which have grown from a 70’ average to a 98’ average since 2021.
The Increasing Number of New Yachts Entering the Market Is Causing Concern About Industry Overload
The rate at which new yachts are being introduced into the market is accelerating. While older yachts aren’t being replaced but refurbished to extend service life, the overall number of yachts is rapidly increasing. This growth puts pressure on an already strained infrastructure, sparking debate among industry experts about the potential for overcrowding and its limits.
The available docking space nevertheless limits this increase in supply. Greece is reporting huge issues with marina availability as new developments are being delayed.
Charterers Are Looking for Less Crowded Charter Areas
The iconic Cyclades Islands continue attracting visitors for their historical and aesthetic appeal, but the hype has consequences, and tourists are looking to less crowded alternatives. Lesser-known destinations like Antiparos , Anafi , Ikaria , Kythira , and Nisiros are gaining traction as travelers seek quieter, more unique experiences away from mainstream tourist hotspots. Greece's diverse coastline, sailing conditions, and enormous charter fleet offer many charter options. A little research goes a long way, with an opportunity to explore more authentic and unspoiled destinations in Greece.
