One of the larger yacht clubs on the Peninsula. Easy access from the freeway. As soon as you pass through the entrance to the park, you feel as if you are in a different world from the maddening pace of Silicon Valley. The best thing going at CPYC is the Wednesday evening beer can racing... No, it's not rolling beer cans down a hill or how many cans you can chug down in 5 minutes! It's informal sail boat race on every Wednesday evening during spring-summer-fall season starting from about 5:45 PM-10:00 PM. It's not the hardcore sailboat racing as in most of the other yacht clubs, but more of a sunset cruise around a prescribed course just east of SFO. Just show up before 6 PM, put your name on the crew sign up sheet and the organizers will match your boating skill level with skipper's and boats looking for crew. No one's ever been left behind because of no room (so far that I know of...). Sail around the bay for approximately 1-2 hours on the bay while the sun sets and you gradually forget about your daily grind. After the sail, there's a great BBQ back at the club - burgers for $5, steaks for $10 and all the trimmings: green salad, potato salad, chili, baked potatos and dessert. MMMmmmm good. Where else can you get a free ride on a sailboat and have a delicious steak dinner all for $10? It's got to be the best bargain in the Bay Area. As for the food in the dining room, it's average, service can be a little slow. The beer can BBQ's are the best in my humble opinion.

We went there today for a memorial / celebration of life for Richard D. Glennon who while here with us (from 11-12-48 to 1-12-15) gathered a great number of friends. While there today, there was a double rainbow in the background (see pictures). The CPYC has a large parking lot, great views, and friendly staff. The bar is well stocked, the restrooms very clean, and the upstairs capacity is 150 people. They also have a downstairs area with child entertainment.

Love it, Love it, Love it! http://www.cpyc.com/ Old School, that's for sure, but the view, ample parking, food, menu, bar, and service make it totally, totally worth it! I go there for meetings on occasion, and they are always a fun-filled event with excellent service and food! The space upstairs is great for a casual get together (ie: Rehearsal dinner, Banquet, etc.) The chef takes pride in her work and the watistaff are always very attentive and professional. I SO love the view of the San Mateo bridge from here.. it's RIGHT on the Bay!

I love the yacht club, I love the marina and I love the harbor master. We are not members but we keep one of our boats at the marina. We've been to a steak dinner on Friday night and even joined an event to sail to San Leandro over a weekend. Such a great group of folks. Love you Sweet Grapes...LOL. We're the ones who broke the mast out in the bay a couple of years ago. You folks were so kind and welcoming to us. Even waved good-bye as we walked out of the club. Thank you for such a wonderful evening. I'll never forget it. K

CPYC is one of the friendliest and open clubs I have ever been to! Wednesday night Beer Can races are open to the public, even without experience. Awesome dinner afterwards and everyone wants you to leave with a love of sailing. Friday and Saturday nights with a great bartender and more excellent home made food are also open to anyone wandering by the boats. Oh, did I mention the killer views?!? The top floor ballroom is rented out regularly for weddings, bat mitzvah, or just a party. Come by, you won't regret it!!

A hidden gem on the Peninsula. We joined a few months ago. This is a friendly place. Of course it's great club for sailors or skippers, but you don't need to own a boat, or even know anything about boating to join. The views from the clubhouse are spectacular. Dinners on Friday and Saturday are relaxed and you feel like you've gone on vacation even though you're still in San Mateo. Our grandchildren are still too young for sailing lessons but they love to come to the club for burgers and soft drinks with cherries. If you are a local business person looking for a great place to bring clients for Friday lunch, or a local single, couple, or family looking for a friendly club that won't break the bank, stop by on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday afternoon and look around.

Unfortunately my only interaction was with the Vice Commodore there, Steve Basuino, who was less than friendly. This yacht club is not the caring place it use to be. Consider another club for membership.

Where do I start? I contacted the club a month ago by email to get info on renting the club. I got an email back from a girl named Carly asking me to give her a call, which I did a ton of times & she never answered. I left a couple vm for her asking to call me back & still nothing! After a week of this I emailed her saying I've left a couple voicemails & called & not once did I get a response. She finally emails me back with a ONE sentence email saying the club is booked in October. Um ok but first my event wasn't even for October & I never gave her a date of when my event would be! Once again I email her back stating this & get an email saying "sorry must have gotten you confused with someone else". Ok if that's true that's totally fine, we all make mistakes at some point right? So I let her know how many guest I'm going to have & say we don't have an exact date but I'd really like to get info on pricing & find out if I need to get outside vendors ect. I even told her I'd like to set up a time to check the place out. Did I ever get a response, NOPE! So at this point I'm upset, I'm literally just trying to get info on renting the club & had a couple questions. Is that so hard? So now I'm calling the club trying to find someone else & I guess it was an answering service since they couldn't help me & didn't know who I needed to speak to. Not sure why since I was calling during club hours. They take my name & number & said someone would call me shortly. A week has now gone by and STILL NOTHING!!!! If they have new people working there that are still learning I totally get it but a MONTH and not getting info is just ridiculous! Not sure what is going on with this place but it's a huge red flag to me I should not even bother doing business with them! I've never dealt with someone so unprofessional!

This is one of the best places on the Peninsula for boating. Beer can races on Wed. night during daylight savings time are excellent. Anybody can show up around 5 and find a boat to ride on. Plan to stay after for very resonable dinner. usually steaks, burgers, etc.. There is always something going on, and plenty of people that are friendly and willing to help others get into boating. They have youth sailing classes in the summer. Members can also take out the small boats the club owns. It's a great way to meet new people and have fun with boats. A new back yard and bar b que was installed and is a great place to rent out for parties or weddings or what ever. I thought it would be all snobby boat people, but I was very wrong.

i was here last saturday for my friend's wedding needless to say i love the view and but service is horrible , not friendly, not knowledge or drinks , I asked for a chilled grey goose i got it on the rocks, so i asked for just chilled again and i got ( I did chilled) for answer oh well thats nothing compared to over charging me for drinks i didn't order and the bartender was in rage when i told her i didn't order those drinks :( poor place is going down the hill with this kind of service

Business name : Coyote Point Yacht Club

Coyote Point Yacht Club History and Background Coyote Point Yacht Club has been an integral part of the Bay Area’s boating community since 1941. The marina was built in the 1940’s, when it served as a US Merchant Marine Cadet School. It later became the first home to the College of San Mateo before becoming a park serving the surrounding community. Friends have been gathering at Coyote Point Yacht Club since it was formed on July 20, 1941. The burgee design we fly today was that of the Palo Alto Yacht Club, accepted by both clubs and symbolized the merging of our clubs on June 17, 1997. We are especially proud that the union of these two clubs continue the legacy as the oldest yacht club on the San Mateo peninsula.

Coyote Point is a shining jewel on the San Francisco Bay. This 670 acre complex offers a wide diversity of landscape and activity. Easy to recognize from the water as a hilly tree-covered point jutting out into the bay, its playgrounds, picnic areas, beaches and lawns, marina, museum and golf course provide many land-based options for mariners visiting Coyote Point Yacht Club. There are numerous sheltered pathways for hiking and biking to stretch out one’s legs.

Coyote Point Yacht Club to hold annual ‘Holiday Lighted Boat Parade’

The Coyote Point Yacht Club’s   5th annual Holiday Lighted Boat Parade is set to take place Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

“Meet us on the berm in front of the Coyote Point Yacht club at the Coyote Point Marina, and view boats in lighted holiday regalia,” states the club located at 1820 Coyote Point Drive. “Enjoy holiday treats and songs. Plus special surprise guests.”

“When you enter the park, tell the gate guard that you are going to the yacht club,” the club notes on social media .

The best places for viewing the parade are reportedly along the Bay Trail berm facing the marina, adjacent to the clubhouse, and with your back to the San Mateo bridge. (This will also allow you to see some of the boats that are decorated, but not parading.); and also on the fishing jetty rock wall.

“The boats will pass by the jetty and make a turn in the basin before heading back to their slips or the guest dock at the club,” the club said.

Attendees are asked to encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. Hot cocoa, cider and cookes will be available outside of the clubhouse.

“Also, don’t forget to stay till the very end, when a very special guest will arrive,” the club said.
