San Diego Bay, also known as “The Big Bay” is a natural harbor and deepwater port located in San Diego County. It is considered to be one of the best natural harbors on the west coast. It spans 12 miles of coast and goes from 1 to 3 miles wide. Numerous resorts, hotels, and the San Diego Convention Center are adjacent to the Bay as well as several parks and nature preserves. In the northern part of the bay there are two commercial “islands” called Harbor Island and Shelter Island. They were built up from former sand bars and now hold hotels, restaurants, marinas, and public parkland. Sightseeing boats depart from the downtown area where as commercial sport fishing and whale watching tours depart from Shelter Island. Check out Seaport Village, a great area with 14 acres of waterfront shopping and dining. You can spend hours exploring it all. After walking Seaport Village don’t forget about the USS Midway Museum. What’s cooler than seeing an aircraft carrier, how about stepping onto the aircraft carrier and roaming its corridors. Located just south of the Coronado-Broadway Pier, the USS Midway offers a history lesson even kids will like. Visitors can explore the carrier’s major areas, including the sleeping quarters, engine room, galley, jail and flight control. Every year on the Fourth of July a fireworks display called the Big Bay Boom is held over the waters of the Bay. Fireworks are launched simultaneously from four barges in the Bay as well as from a pier in Imperial Beach. It is one of the largest annual fireworks displays in the United States and is viewed by half a million people each year. With so much to do, its no wonder people spend hours exploring the San Diego Bay. It is a place you must experience for yourself.

Seattle Yachts Acquires Cabrillo Yacht Sales In San Diego!

Seattle, WA (January 21st, 2019) : Seattle Yachts, an established boat dealer and brokerage firm with offices in the Pacific Northwest and South Florida, has acquired Cabrillo Yacht Sales in San Diego. This announcement comes on the heels of Seattle Yachts opening their first east coast office in Palm Beach, Florida in 2018. Cabrillo Yacht Sales and Seattle Yachts share the same new boat brands, Northwest and Tayana.

“It was a natural fit for us to acquire Cabrillo Yacht Sales given that we share some of the same brands, but also because of Seattle Yacht’s growth strategy,” said Peter Whiting, Seattle Yacht’s Managing Partner. “Cabrillo’s location, which is on Americas Cup Harbor on N. Harbor Drive in San Diego, gives us penetration into a market where we already know our customers are either in or cruising to as a destination.”

“We are thrilled to be a part of the Seattle Yachts’ team,” said Dan Peter, previous owner of Cabrillo Yachts. “Our sales team is excited to have access to brands like Nimbus Boats, Whitehaven Yachts, Alaskan Yachts, and all the others that Seattle Yachts brings to the table. The murder trial of Ali Abulaban , who is accused of fatally shooting 28-year-old Ana Abulaban and 29-year-old Rayburn Cardenas Barron, is nearing its end. Defense witnesses began taking the stand late last week and Abulaban is expected to testify this week, possibly as soon as Tuesday.

Prosecutors allege Abulaban, who went by the handle JinnKid on various social media platforms, was physically and verbally abusive to his wife leading up to Oct. 21, 2021, when Ana Abulaban and Barron were shot and killed in the Abulabans’ 35th floor unit at the Spire San Diego luxury apartment complex.

Abulaban’s mother, Dalal Warra, testified Monday that shortly after the shootings, Abulaban called her and admitted to the killings.

Warra testified that she told him, “That’s not funny, Ali. Don’t say that.”

After Abulaban sent her a picture of the bodies, Warra said she immediately deleted it.

Warra testified that she was aware her son and his wife were having marital problems, but upon questioning, denied knowing of multiple alleged incidents of domestic violence prosecutors say her son committed.

Deputy District Attorney Taren Brast asked Warra about one incident in which Abulaban’s sister allegedly saw Abulaban punch Ana, took pictures of her facial injuries, and sent them to her mother.

Warra said she didn’t recall getting those pictures and didn’t know of another incident in which Abulaban allegedly pushed Ana into a refrigerator.

When asked whether Abulaban ever told her he punched his wife in the face, Warra testified, “She hit him too” and referenced a FaceTime call with her son in which she saw he had scratches.

Warra, who said her son and his wife were happily married prior to moving to San Diego, also denied that her son was discharged from the U.S. Air Force for allegedly punching his wife in the face while he was stationed in Japan.

“I don’t believe it because I know how they were together,” she testified.

While she was aware Ana had called the police on her husband on multiple occasions, Warra testified that Ana never went through with pushing for her husband’s arrest or getting a restraining order against him.

Brast told jurors earlier this month that Abulaban was “jealous, controlling, and violent” toward his wife and despite Ana saying she was through with the marriage, Abulaban considered her newfound relationship with Barron to be cheating and killed them for it.

Abulaban’s attorney, Jodi Green, has argued that Abulaban suffered childhood abuse, which may have played a role in the way he handled relationships.

On the day of the shootings, the trauma, coupled with an array of undiagnosed mental health issues, sent him into an uncontrollable state when he saw his wife with Barron in the apartment, according to Green. The attorney argued that in the moment, Abulaban felt “as though he was in the passenger seat of his body. Not in control, not in his right mind, but overcome with so much intense emotion. Simply out of his mind.”

Jurors also heard Monday from Dr. Francesca Lehman, a clinical and forensic psychologist retained by the defense, who said she diagnosed Abulaban with bipolar I disorder, complex trauma, alcohol and stimulant dependence, and unspecified personality disorder with borderline, antisocial, and narcissistic features.

Lehman testified that these diagnoses would create “a perfect storm” that she would expect to severely impair a person’s judgment and decision making.

The doctor also referenced multiple 911 calls Abulaban made in 2021, in which he expressed concerns about himself. In one of the calls, a police dispatcher felt Abulaban “was having some kind of breakdown” and referred him to services that could assist him, Lehman said.

Abulaban is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, with allegations of using a handgun in the slayings, and a special-circumstance allegation of committing multiple murders. Jurors are expected to begin deliberating toward the end of this week.

With 100 days until the Paralympics begin, Paris organizers are delivering a message from the athletes in a bid to boost ticket sales: I am not missing anything, except you.

The countdown campaign for the Aug 28-Sept. 8 Paralympic Games begins Monday. It features three Paralympic athletes, each of them alone in an empty stadium. The campaign slogan — “Il ne me manque rien, sauf vous” (I’m not missing anything, except you) — is a rallying call to get people to come along and watch them competing.

The French athletes featured in the campaign are Arnaud Assoumani , a long jump and triple jump specialist who won gold at the 2008 Games in Beijing; wheelchair tennis player Pauline Déroulède , and blind soccer player Gaël Rivière who was a European championship winner two years ago. He plays at club level for Bondy Cécifoot Club — in the same suburb where France star Kylian Mbappé grew up.

National broadcaster France Télévisions will show the campaign in a bid to raise awareness and — ultimately — boost sales. So far, 900,000 of the 2.8 million tickets have been sold.

A total of 4,400 athletes will take part in the Paralympics. Tickets are available from 15 euros ($16) for track and field sessions at Stade de France, wheelchair tennis at Roland Garros, or blind soccer at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. The finals cost from 25 ($27) euros and it’s 45 euros ($49) to watch the closing ceremony.

Ticket sales could escalate once posters start appearing around Paris, with organizers aiming to raise awareness and increase fan engagement and solidarity.

There will be 651 posters dotted around the city, 972 on the subway and a further 2,520 on the sides of buses.

On Tuesday, four Paralympic athletes will walk up the famed steps at the Cannes Film Festival along with Paris 2024 Olympic head Tony Estanguet.

Of the tickets sold so far, organizers said 300,000 have been bought by the state and 150,000 by the International Olympic Committee and National Paralympic Committee.

Organizers haven’t released details for the amount of tickets sold for the opening ceremony, which takes place along a section of the famed Champs-Élysées.

Paul McCartney has let the song “We All Stand Together” be used in a promotional film for the International Paralympic Committee.

The Paralympics will have a record 164 broadcasters worldwide covering 549 events across 22 sports.

The 12-day event follows the July 26-Aug. 11 Olympics in Paris.
