The Grand Theft Auto games are well-known for including cheat codes, and GTA 5 keeps the tradition going with a large variety of GTA V cheat codes available. There is a total of 34 cheats in GTA 5 , which you can use to have fun in Los Santos, wreak havoc with Michael, Franklin and Trevor, or just have an easier time when playing the game.

How To Enter GTA 5 Cheats on PS5, PS4 & PS3

There are two ways to enter GTA 5 cheats for PS4, PS3, and in the Expanded & Enhanced edition for PS5:

• Controller Cheats: similar to classic GTA games, quickly enter the button combinations on the controller for your desired GTA 5 cheats. You can also enter these in the pause menu.

You can enter GTA 5 cheats on PS4 at any time during general gameplay using the method you prefer, either via the controller or as GTA 5 cell phone cheats. A " Cheat Activated " message will appear on the bottom left of the screen to confirm the activation of the effect.

Unlike cheats in GTA IV , the GTA 5 phone cheats are not stored on the cellphone and must be re-entered each time. However, you can press * on the dial pad to quickly re-enter the last cheat you used.

You can de-activate some GTA V cheats by simply re-entering them, although certain cheats require you to restart the game or reload a previous save file in order to remove them. The GTA 5 cheats also get disabled when your character dies.

Note: several cheats only work in Freeroam and cannot be activated during missions or in restricted areas. In those cases, the game will show a " Cheat Denied " message.

Do GTA 5 Cheats Disable Trophies?

Using cheat codes in GTA 5 will temporarily disable Trophies & Achievements , but only for the current play session .

This means that after you restart the game and reload the save file, cheats will be de-activated and you will be able to earn achievements again. While there is a lot of misinformation about this topic, this is the definitive answer. So unlike classic GTA games, the GTA 5 cheats don't permanently block trophies , even if you saved while cheats were active.

Activating GTA V cheat codes on PS5/PS4/PS3 also prevents you from getting a higher rating than Bronze medals in missions, but again, just for the current game session until you restart the game. It's also important to note that using GTA 5 cheat codes doesn't prevent you from obtaining 100% completion of the game , they're safe to use.

In any case, it's always recommended to save the game before using cheats in Grand Theft Auto V, so that you always have a "clean" save slot where you have not used cheats.

Can you use the GTA 5 Phone Cheats on PS3?

The GTA 5 Phone Cheats were introduced with the Enhanced Edition of GTA 5 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

So the phone cheats are not available on the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. The only way to enter cheats on the old-generation consoles is via controller button combinations.

GTA 5 Cheats: Play as Any Character & Animals (via Director Mode)

In addition to the main single-player mode and the GTA Online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V for PC, PS4, and Xbox One also comes with a special "Director Mode".

The GTA 5 Director Mode gives you the freedom to play as any character model in the game , from Story Mode characters , hundreds of NPC & Pedestrians and even Animals - and free-roam around San Andreas. You can also select your GTA Online character .

In Director Mode you can also fully control your free-roam experience by adjusting various Settings , such as Location, Time of Day, Weather, Wanted Status, Pedestrian Density, and Vehicle Density.

How to enter GTA 5 cheat codes

Before you enter any GTA 5 cheat codes, understand that turning on any of them disables achievements for the session and means that you’ll not be able to score higher than a bronze on any mission even if you turn it right back off again. There are a couple ways to enter cheats in GTA 5 :

• On consoles , you can enter cheats by hitting the series of D-pad, trigger, and face button inputs listed below.
• On PC , you’ll have to bring up the console by hitting the ~ (tilde) key. With the console up, type in the word from the tables below — all upper case — to activate the cheat.
• On both consoles and PC , you can also just enter the phone numbers. Pull up your phone with up on the D-pad. Select contacts, and then hit the X/▢ button. Dial the number from the table below and then hit X/▢ again. (The phone numbers actually all spell out the PC cheat codes.)

Most cheats can be disabled by entering them again.

With GTA 5 finally coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, we're able to experience the legendary Rockstar open world action game in a whole new light. However, just because it's a brilliant game doesn't mean we can't rinse it for all its worth. We've got all the GTA 5 cheats you need, whether you're playing on PS4, Xbox One, or PC - or playing on Xbox Series consoles or PS5.

How to use GTA 5 cheats

It's easy enough using these cheats on your console of choice. For Xbox One, Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360 or PS3, just tap the relevant buttons. You can also press up on the d-pad to bring up your character's cell phone, then enter the cell phone cheat and it will have the same effect.

On PC, all you need to do is press the command/tilde button (~) and enter the cheat from there. No phone shenanigans needed!

The first set of codes to get your hands on all relate to weapons and making the player a completely lethal killing machine.

Spawn all weapons

This is the biggie. Enter this cheat and you'll spawn all weapons and max out the ammo for each one. That means you'll have pockets crammed with everything from the basic pistols to the grenade launcher and everything in between. It's a box of lethal toys for you to play with - just be careful not to accidentally blow yourself up.

Invincibility

Unleash violent chaos in GTA 5 and you'll soon have the cops, the local gangs, gun nuts and general populace returning fire. Not a lot of people back down in Los Santos. So with this cheat you'll make yourself invincible. You will not die. That doesn't mean the locals won't stop throwing bullets at you, so expect the chaos to continue until you manage to shake them off. Or kill them all.

Max out health and armour

If you don't want to be completely invincible but do want to keep your ticker pumping, this is the cheat for you. So much quicker and easier than using first aid or eating snacks from a vending machine, this cheat will pump your health back up to maximum and equip you with the highest form of body armour. Now you're feeling tip-top again, you can jump back in to the action.

Recharge special ability

This is another cheat that gives you a boost without making you super-powered. You might want to use this during the main campaign for that little uplift. It basically recharges your characters special ability. For Franklin that means Driving Focus , so he can slow down time when handling any vehicle with wheels, allowing pinpoint accuracy when racing around the streets. Michael's special ability is Bullet Time . He can slow down time to target heads and other hotspots with complete accuracy - although he can only do this on foot. Trevor's special ability is Red Mist . Red Mist allows Trevor to take less damage and inflict more pain when he's in the zone, so he can be a little more wild and less cautious of the damage he might take.

Raise Wanted level

If you really want to taunt the police and you can't be bothered to start the antagonism from scratch, this cheat will max out your wanted level immediately. That means you'll be descended upon by special military police in helicopters and tanks and with van-loads of support. Brace yourself.

Okay, so you need to take it down and notch and you just can't shake those relentless cops? You need to lower your wanted level by entering this cheat. Each time you enter it you lower your wanted level by one star.

Explosive rounds

When normal bullets just won't kill quick enough, you need explosive bullets. These are great for taking out heavily armoured targets and for dropping enemies with a single shot. Especially useful when going up against the police or military because those guys do not mess around.

Flame rounds do more damage long term because after the initial hit they continue to do burn damage to your enemies, so they really are an effective way to win the fight.

This cheat is pure comedy. Enter it and you'll win pretty much any fist fight with a flick of the wrist and an explosive punch. Pow, indeed.

Slow down aim

This is similar to Michael's special ability in that it gives you a bullet time cheat but can be applied to any of the three characters. You can enter it up to four times, with each entry slowing down time further. The fifth time you enter it you'll return to normal time.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is all about the vehicles. It has it all; sports cars, off-road, novelty rides, bikes, dad cars, helicopters, jet planes and a whole lot more. It even has a submarine. So when the main game is over and you want to explore, race or just mess about doing donuts, these are the vehicles for you.

Duke O' Death

Probably the most fun you can have on four wheels in GTA 5. This badboy is bullet proof, sounds like farts in Hell, and punches other vehicles off the freeway. You'll never go back to another muscle car. As this was added post-release, you can only spawn this using the in-game phone.

Kraken submarine

Dodo sea plane

Boats are generally a bit rubbish in GTA 5, so we prefer to use the Dodo as you can fly to any mission that requires water and land close by. On console you'll need to enter this cheat via the phone by pressing up on the d-pad.

Is there a money cheat in GTA 5?

How to enter GTA 5 cheats on Xbox, PS5, PS4, PS3 and PC

GTA 5 added some interesting ways to input cheats on top of the good old controller button-mashing codes. On consoles, you can input those controller codes or, alternatively, whip out the in-game cell phone to dial in a number that activates the cheat instead.

On PC, you can do either of those things and also use console commands - the commands are actually the words spelled out by the phone numbers, which is a nice touch (giving you things like 1-999-LAWYERUP)!

Here's a quick rundown of how to enter cheats on each platform:

• PS5, PS4 and PS3 - Follow the button prompts in the tables below on controller, or press Up to bring up the cell phone and call the respective number.
• Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Xbox 360 - Follow the button prompts in the tables below on controller, or press Up to bring up the cell phone and call the respective number.
• PC - Follow the button prompts in the tables below on controller, or press the Up key to bring up the cell phone and call the respective number, or press the key to the left of 1 on your keyboard (¬ in the UK or ~ on a US keyboard) to use console commands. Remember to use all capital letters and hit enter when done.

There is a decent range of cheats available for GTA 5 players, but it's worth noting that some classics are missing - there's no way to spawn yourself a tank for instance, plus no actual, official money cheat - despite what a lot of people will tell you!

For weapons, there is only one cheat - unlike in earlier games, and there's only a short list of vehicles you can get your hands on.

Otherwise, there are a couple of final things to bear in mind: first, you won't be able to unlock achievements or trophies, or get anything other than a Bronze rating on missions, in a session where cheats have been activated. Second, all of these cheats are purely offline only - cheats are disabled in GTA Online, due to the pretty obvious disrupted effect they'd otherwise have!

GTA 5 cheats for Xbox

Xbox Series X/S, Xbox 360 and Xbox One GTA cheats work in the same way as they do on PlayStation platforms: you can enter them at any point in offline mode by using the controller inputs listed below, or by dialling the cell phone numbers listed next to them.

The only thing to note is that the buttons don't always line up exactly with their counterparts on PlayStation - so just because you have, say, the Invincibility cheat burned into your muscle memory on one platform, that doesn't mean it's the exact same buttons on the other. Double check the list below when in doubt!

As we mentioned above, cheats on PCs work a little differently to their counterparts on consoles. You can still use a controller to input them - we've used Xbox button names below, as that's the most popular choice of PC gamepad - but otherwise the main ways of inputting them are via the in-game cell phone (again, bring it up in-game and dial the below numbers to use the cheats), or alternatively you can use console commands.

To bring up console commands in GTA, press the "~" key on US keyboards, or the "¬" key on UK keyboards (whichever one is in the top left of your keyboard, under the Esc key and to the left of the 1). Then simply type the corresponding command, as it appears (so, in capital letters) in the table below, and hit enter to activate the cheat.

With the fact you can make yourself invincible, use slow-motion aiming and remove your wanted level, you might be wanting to get unlimited money next.

Though older GTA games offer this, for whatever reason there is no money cheat in GTA 5 , even in the single player story mode.

How to Use GTA 5 Cheats PS4

• First, use the D-pad to enter directional keys (left,right etc.).
• Next, press the codes as quickly but as accurately as possible. A confirmation appears at the top of the map after you enter the cheat codes.
• Finally, enjoy the game with all the power you have.

Using cheats disqualifies you from getting achievement and trophies but only for that mission or play session you “cheated.” Simply reset the game to enable Achievement and Trophy again.

How to enter GTA 5 cheats

GTA 5 cheats and codes let you spawn weapons, guns and cars, get extra health and give you control of things like wanted level and more. You can gain invincibility, superpowers, give yourself useful gear like parachutes and plenty more. To use GTA 5 cheat codes on Xbox and Playstation you just need to input them with the D-pad and face buttons, or use the in-game phone. While on PC you can do that, or use console commands for the same effect. 

One thing to note when using GTA 5 codes is that they disable trophies and achievements while active in GTA 5 . To counter that you can switch off anything you've activated by re-entering the code but it's a good idea to create a separate cheat save just in case they break anything, and restart the game when you're done just to be sure you've cleared everything out.

How to use GTA 5 cheats

On PS5, PS4 and Xbox you can turn cheats on and off by simply entering the correct sequence of buttons quickly. An on-screen notification will tell you if you got it right. 

You can also bring up your phone in-game and dial the cheat - this is the main way to enter codes on PC .  These phone numbers always start 1-999 and then a code which spells out the cheat via the letters on the number pad. Another option on PC is to hit the tilde key (~) to bring up the command console and type in the   codes directly into that. 

Remember: turning on cheats will disable Achievements and Trophies until you turn them all off again by reentering the codes you used.

GTA 5 car cheats

Using GTA 5 cheats to spawn cars on PS4, Xbox One and PC works the same way as any of the other cheat codes. You can summon a vehicle using your phone, or with specific button sequences on console. Let's cover the phone numbers first as they work on everything. There are also three vehicles you can only summon if you've completed specific missions. There's more details in the full list below but here are the numbers:

GTA 5 Cheat Codes for PS4 PS5

GTA 5 Cheat Codes for PS4/PS5 work similarly to other versions of the game. Using the Grand Theft Auto 5 cheat codes is done by simply using the button combinations in the list below using the PlayStation controller and can be used anytime when you are not in a mission.   Once a GTA 5 cheat code is entered, you won’t be able to earn achievements and trophies for that play session. In the bottom right hand side of the screen, you’ll see a message letting you know that the cheats have been enabled.

How to enter cheats in GTA 5

There are a few different options when entering cheats. Which one you use depends on what platform you are playing on, and whether you want to use the in-game phone or not. The easiest way to enter cheats while playing on a controller is to simply input the codes while walking around the world. This will trigger the cheats automatically. Alternatively if you’re playing on mouse and keyboard you can hold ‘~’ or ‘¬’ and then enter the codes.

The second main option is to use the in-game phone. Simply bring up the phone using ‘up’ on the d-pad, and then enter one of the codes.

Can you earn achievements while using GTA 5 cheats?

No, enabling cheats in GTA 5 will disable achievements. In addition, you won’t be able to earn higher than a Bronze rating for completing missions. Make sure to save before using cheats if you’re worried about messing up your progress in the campaign.
