Henk Tingen Designer - Kok boat builder

I would appreciate any information on Henk Tingen - Boat Designer (Ontwerper) Henk was understood to be actively designing boats during the period 1939 until the mid sixties. A number of his yachts were built by the Kok boat builders in Vinkeveen near Hilverson - Holland. The KOK yard appears to have to have carried on under the name Theo Kok at the same place in Achterbos - Vinkeveen. Any information regarding his history , his designs , his builds, and information regarding yachts that he designed that are still on the water, will be gratefully received and acknowledged. The same applies to information on the KOK enterprise of Vinkeveen - Holland.

Although the site is written in dutch you can see some of his drawings and vessels he had designed. Our inland vessel is designed by Henk Tingen. Do you own a Henk Tingen vessel? Show me a picture. Orka 12 ( Outrageous ) Hi, I have noticed your posts with regard to Henk Tingen designed boats. I have been an owner of an Orka 12 Ketch , Built by Scheepswerf KOK vinkeveen Holland in 1956 , for the past 30 years. I have been sailing her mostly on Long Island sound. Information on these boats has not been easy to find over the years. A number of years back someone gave me sail plans of a nearly identical Tingen design with a Yawl rig and it was called a Hollander 41 . When I first started sailing Outrageous I was 14 years old, My Father bought her in 1978. We sailed her till 1985 or 6 and hauled her for a complete rebuild. We launched her again in 1990 after replacing portions of her hull , all her deck frames , deck , and interior. We also installed a new volvo engine. She has been sailing every season since 1990 . In around 1998 I broke her original Main mast in a squall . Over that next winter I built both a new sitka spruce main and mizzen mast, using most of the original hardware. After searching on the internet Time and Time again only now is information starting to pop up about these boats. What is the site about

This website contains reports of boat trips in Netherland, Belgium, France and Germany and maintenance on their boat. P ublications about the crew or boat in the media or on the internet. Also the background of the boat (brand Damenvlet), shipyard ( Gebr. Damen) and designer (Henk Tingen).

Family business Gebr. Damen in Hardinxveld-Giessendam was founded in 1927 by the Damen brothers. They started building boats on the river. Later they had Rijkswaterstaat as a major customer. Other customers at the time were dredging companies. The dredging companies took on major works abroad and all auxiliary material, such as the boats, were bought immediately. A fast delivery time was therefore required and the Damen brothers also supplied second-hand boats.

Henk Tingen is a yacht designer and passed away in 1998. He worked in Amsterdam and De Bilt until 1979. Around 1935 he was the in-house designer of the Huisman shipyard in Ronduite and in the 1950's and 1970's of Gebr. Kok in Vinkeveen. Henk Tingen was also a broker in yachts and sold many sailing ships, from 1947 to about 1965, to America. Family business Gebr. Damen in Hardinxveld-Giessendam was founded in 1927 by the Damen brothers. They started building boats for parlevinkers on the river. Henk Tingen is a yacht designer and died in 1998. He worked in Amsterdam and de Bilt until 1979. Around 1935, he was house designer of shipyard Huisman in Ronduite and in the 1950s-70s of gebr. Kok in Vinkeveen. Henk Tingen was also a yacht broker and sold many sailing ships , from 1947 to around 1965, to America.

The accommodation is traditionally laid out with up to six berths in two cabins. The layout works well at sea with a wealth of sensible features for seagoing comfort, standing headroom and plentiful stowage throughout.  In the forecabin, V berth with infill and stowage under. The berth can be used in either fore 'n aft or athwartships configuration providing two secure singles on passage or a comfy double at anchor.  Sliding doors open to reveal the forepeak which offers a large stowage space for sails, chain, outboards and other sundry cruising gear.  Opening hatch to deck.  Separate heads compartment to port with marine WC, shower and washbasin.  Holding tank.  Interestingly, the washbasin is made of monel and comes from a WWII ship.  There is a hanging locker opposite the heads.  In the saloon, dinette to port with settee berth opposite.  The dinette will convert to a double and there is also a secure pilot berth to starboard.  Saloon table with one drop leaf and one removable leaf.  Brass ship's bell.  Brass 'Trawler' lamp.  Dickenson Antarctic diesel cabin heater.  Kenwood radio/CD player with Bose speakers. (Please note the painting, brass clock and barometer are personal items of the owner and are not included in the sale.)  Moving aft, the good sized chart table is to starboard and offers plenty of space for electronics display and book and chart stowage.  Opposite is the galley.  Force 10 three burner gas cooker with grill and oven (the oven is not working so the whole unit will need replacing).   Twin stainless steel sinks with hot and cold pressurised water supply.  Spectra 60 lph watermaker.  590 litre freshwater capacity in two tanks.  Manual back up pump.  Saltwater pump.  Top loading fridge/freezer.  The hull is fully insulated keeping the boat pleasantly warm in winter and nicely cool in summer.  There are two dorade ventilators and fans throughout to provide good ventilation in bad weather.  

Located under the cockpit Perkins Prima M60 four cylinder 59hp diesel engine, c1995 but installed new in 2002.  Approximately 4600 hours running time since new.  Electric start.  Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger.  Shaft drive to three bladed propeller.  Single lever control.  420 litre fuel capacity in two tanks.  Cruising speed under power 5 knots, maximum 7 knots.  The engine has been regularly serviced, last professional service March 2022.

Built in 1958 by Kok Scheepswerf in Vinkeveen, Holland to a design by Henk Tingen.  Round bilge welded steel hull with steel deck and coachroof.  After purchase in 1987 the boat was given a complete keel-up rebuild and refurbishment by the present owners.  This included some re-plating, shotblasting and re-painting, a new engine, new sails, re-rigging, re-wiring and re-plumbing and the boat has been maintained to a high standard ever since.  The hull is fully insulated.  Long keel with cast iron ballast and lifting centreplate.  Keel hung rudder.  Wheel steering.  Aft self draining cockpit.  Treadmaster non-slip to deck with teak cockpit seating.
