Congrats: Lil Yachty Is Officially A Dad After Welcoming His First Child
By Kiyonna Anthony
October 21, 2021
Congrats are in order for Lil Yachty .
The 24-year old rapper recently welcomed his first child into the world earlier this month in New York City. Yachty is known for keeping mum about his personal life -- so much so that fans are still speculating on who the mother of his child could be. The Atlanta-bred star is reportedly in Manhattan spending time with his new born baby girl, however, he has yet to officially speak out on his new bundle of joy.
Fortunately, Yachty's baby girl won't have much to want for, considering that her dad has been making major money moves. The multi-million dollar rapper recently invested in the plant-based nutritional supplement brand PlantFuel alongside NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens , and put $1 million into a new, Jewish dating app called LoxClub. Yachty said of his PlantFuel move:
“I’m super excited about my new venture with PlantFuel. It’s brands like PlantFuel that inspire and allow me to stay actively involved creatively beyond just investing.”
The news of the rapper's emergence into fatherhood comes just days after he joined Tame Impala on their remix record to "Breathe Deeper." Yachty said of the remix record:
“It was so amazing to work with Kevin [Parker] as I’ve been a big fan since high school so it was a pleasant surprise and honor to be a part of such an incredible song."
The "Yacht Club" rapper hasn't let up when it comes to making new music. Along with "Breathe Deeper", Yachty recently dropped his Birthday Mix Vol. 6 mixtape featuring appearances from Lil Tecca and SoFaygo, and even contributed a song to Pokémon 25: The Album entitled "Believing".
Congrats to the new dad!

Lil Yachty is now a girl dad.
Congratulations are in order for rap star Lil Yachty as he’s become a father for the first time. The news was confirmed by TMZ , who shared that the Atlanta native welcomed his first child, a daughter, in the last few weeks. They also stated that he’s been spending time with his newborn daughter in New York City, where she was born.
There are still no reports as to who the child’s mother is as yet, and it seems he’s trying to keep her out of the spotlight. However, recent reports suggest that he was last known to be dating New York-based fashion designer Selangie. They were rumored to have broken up sometime earlier this year, though.
He’s also kept his baby’s identity secret and hasn’t used any of his social media accounts to show off his baby girl. He did, however, share a photo of himself in Manhattan, which confirms that he is in New York at this time.
Lil Yachty hasn’t really been as active on the scene in recent times, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been bringing in the paper. He’s already a multi-platinum rap artist and has some sound investments even at the young age of 24-years-old. He recently entered the $1.5 trillion wellness industry when he invested in the plant-based nutritional supplement brand PlantFuel .
The “One Night” singer also invested $1 million into the popular Jewish dating app Lox Club , which he was able to do through his Scoop Investments venture capital fund. His latest single is called “Believing” and was part of Pokémon 25: The Album.
He also recently released a Detroit-themed project called Michigan Boy Boat and has been featured on Kanye West’s tenth studio album Donda , as well as Lil Tecca’s deluxe edition, We Love You Tecca 2 .

'I’m so excited to be part of this film with Mattel,' Yachty said in a statement, before revealing his love for the card game.
'I played Uno as a kid and still do today, so to spin that into a movie based on the Atlanta hip hop scene I came out of is really special. It hits close to home for me,' he added.

Lil Yachty Welcomed His First Child Into The World
It seems that rapper Lil Yachty has officially joined fatherhood! According to reports, Lil Yachty , born Miles McCollum, welcomed a daughter into the world a couple of weeks ago in NYC. The 24-year-old rapper is reportedly still in the city as he spends time with his newborn. As of now, it’s unclear who the baby’s mother is. This is Lil Yachty’s first child.
As previously reported , Lil Yachty made headlines this past summer for teaming up with fellow rapper Bhad Bhabie , 18, in a business endeavor. According to reports, the pair invested $1 million into Lox Club, which is a dating app that markets itself as being “culturally Jewish.”
Their large investment was made in partnership with Adam Kugler’s Scoop Investments, which is also responsible for helping Lil Yachty secure his Reese’s Puffs deal. In addition to that, Adam Kugler once managed Bhad Bhabie and is her business partner on a variety of other deals.
Lil Yachty definitely has a lot on his plate now to keep him busy. He launched an all-gender exclusive nail polish brand, Crete, this year as well.
Congratulations to Lil Yachty on the new addition to his family!

Lil Yachty’s Dad Talks About His Son's Music & Influences Growing Up
Shannon mccollum also says that lil boat’s music is for the kids..
[gallery columns="3"] Lil Yachty ‘s dad is Atlanta-based photographer Shannon McCollum, who has been around the music circuit for years capturing iconic photos of acts like OutKast, Dead Prez, Too $hort and more. With his son’s hip-hop taste and musical style being something highly talked about as of late, HipHopWired took some time to sit down with the red-haired rapper’s father to talk about his son’s music and musical influences growing up. McCollum explains that he played a broad rotation of artists from a Tribe Called Quest to John Coltrane to Bilal to Coldplay, and that he actually named Yachty after Miles Davis. Lil Yachty is a girl dad, TMZ reports. According to the outlet, the 24-year-old welcomed his first child, a baby girl, earlier this month in New York City. Yachty has reportedly been staying in the city for the past few weeks to care for his newborn daughter. So far, the rapper hasn’t disclosed who the child’s mother is and hasn’t posted publicly about his daughter online.
Although Yachty hasn’t confirmed the news, fans jumped to congratulate the Atlanta native on Wednesday (Oct. 20).
“Lil Yachty is gonna be a good dad,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“Lil Yachty had a kid before [Lil] Uzi [Vert] OMG Lil Yachty is a dad now??!!! I’m so happy for him holy shit,” another wrote.
While Yachty is reportedly on daddy duty now, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t made time to share new music with his fans. The Lil Boat 3 crafter recently appeared on Pokémon 25: The Album with his single, “Believing.”
Back in August, Yachty also celebrated his birthday with his new mixtape, Birthday Mix 6, which saw appearances from Lil Tecca and SoFaygo. Since then, he’s shared videos for “Lord of the Beans,” “TUNDE,” “Rocc Climbing” and dropped his own remix of Tame Impala’s song, “Breathe Deeper.”
Besides new music, Yachty has also recently made headlines for his investments. Over the summer, he and Bhad Bhabie teamed up to invest $1 million in the Jewish dating app , The Lox Club. In May, Yachty also released his own line of gender-inclusive nail polish .
“It’s essentially like… unisex, but I want it to be more focused on for men to use it and to be more comfortable in their own skin ,” he told TMZ prior to the nail polish’s launch. “Because bro… come on. What are barriers? We still have barriers?”
See fans’ reaction to the news on Twitter below. Congrats, Yachty !
We Interviewed Lil Yachty’s Dad To Find Out Why He Can’t Name 5 Tupac Or Biggie Songs
Share the post, share this link via, or copy link.
HipHopWired caught up with world-renown photographer Shannon McCollum , who is also the father of Lil Yachty, to talk about fatherhood in Hip-Hop and why his son can’t name five Tupac or Biggie songs.
At just age 19-years old, Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty has already become one of the most polarizing artists in Hip-Hop right now. Young people around his age love his music, people who are 15 to 20 years older hate it, with a passion.
What some may view as youthful innocence in his interviews, others see as youthful arrogance. When he admits that he can’t name five Tupac or Biggie songs , his detractors claim that he is disrespecting the culture. But his defenders bring up that he wasn’t born when ‘Pac died and was just learning to walk when Biggie was killed.
With so much controversy swirling around him, we figured it would be a good idea to talk to the source, of the source, his father.
We caught up with Shannon McCollum, photographer of the likes of Outkast and dead prez, to talk about raising a son in the Hip-Hop culture and allowing them to learn on their own and then develop their own tastes. You may not agree with what he has to say either, but this was a much needed conversation in our eyes. A old vs. new civil war seems to be brewing and we at least wanted to build a bridge.

How Lil Yachty Got His Second Act
By Jeff Ihaza
Until the pandemic, Lil Yachty never stopped to think about how quickly he became famous. “It was a full year from walking across the stage in high school to then I’m in this penthouse in midtown Atlanta , I got this G-wagon, put my mother in a house,” Yachty explains. “It’s a fast life. You not ever getting the chance to think about a lot of shit.”
Yachty’s 2016 hit “Minnesota,” which had the treacly energy of a nursery rhyme, earned the then-17-year-old the title “King of the Teens.” But since then, he’s become an elder statesman of a certain brand of young superstar — and something like the Gen Z answer to Diddy. He collaborated with brands like Nautica and Target; he appeared in the movie How High 2 ; he signed an endorsement deal with Sprite. Signees to his new label imprint, Concrete Boys, even get an iced-out chain.

Born Miles Parks McCollum, Yachty embodies many of the ways the music industry has changed in the past decade. He rose to fame on the internet and commands attention with or without new music. Over Zoom in March, he’s calm and reserved, pausing intently before he responds to questions. The youthful exuberance is still there, though. At one point, his mom, who lives nearby, calls to ask what he wants from the grocery store. “I need Pop-Tarts,” he says sweetly. “I really want them cinnamon-bun Pop-Tarts.”
He can afford lots of Pop-Tarts. Yachty reportedly made $13 million on endorsements in 2016 and 2017. (“Work hard, play hard,” he responds when asked about the number.) He spends more than $50,000 a month on various expenses, according to one recent headline. (“If anything I pay a little more. I have many assets and insurance, plus an elaborate payroll.”) He’s working on a Reese’s Puffs cereal collaboration, a film based on the card game Uno, and he was one of the first rappers to hop on the crypto craze, selling something called a “YachtyCoin” last December in an auction on the platform Nifty Gateway. According to a report from Coinbase, the token sold for $16,050. Yachty explains that when he was first discovered by Quality Control records founder Kevin “Coach K” Lee, “one of the biggest things he talked about was being a brand. Being bigger than just an artist — being a mogul.”

In fact, collaboration has come to be a useful tool for Yachty as he sheds the King of the Teens title for something more akin to a rap mogul. “I only work with people I have friendships with, who I really admire,” Yachty says. “And I love working with newer artists, up-and-coming artists.” Within the world of hip-hop, Yachty has found for himself somewhere between a megastar and internet hero, and it would appear that he’s just settling in. “I just fuck with new talent. Not even like, ‘let me sign you, get under my wing,’ ” he explains. “Just ‘hey, I’ve been in this spot before. I know what that’s like, bada bing, bada boom.’ ”
Yachty started Concrete Boys last year. One of the first signees was his childhood friend Draft Day, who offers one of the more exciting features on Lil Boat 3, on the cut “Demon Time.” “I feel old sometimes,” Yachty admits. “I feel old as fuck when someone’s popping and I don’t know who they are. Which is rare, because I be on my shit.”
Yachty is also at the forefront of a new realm of social platforms, namely Twitch and Discord, that engender more direct communication within communities. Yachty frequently talks directly to fans on both platforms, and in April he collaborated with Discord on “sound packs,” which allowed users to replace the app’s normal notifications with sounds he created.

Real sex-symbol shit, you know what I’m saying?” For Yachty, who opened the door to a new brand of celebrity rapper, it doesn’t register as wishful thinking. His enduring celebrity is proof of what’s possible with a solid flow and internet savvy. “I just want to do everything. Because I’ve realized I can,” Yachty explains. “I’ve learned the power I have. Drake and Lil Yachty Exchange Parenting Jokes Under Drizzy's Instagram Post of Him Braiding Adonis' Hair
The two rappers have become close since collaborating on Yachty's 2020 single 'Oprah's Bank Account.' Lil Boat also contributed to several tracks on 'Her Loss,' a joint project by 6 God and 21 Savage released in 2022.
Drake and Lil Yachty sent friendly shots on social media Friday, with Lil Boat hopping on the comments section of a post in which Drizzy is pictured braiding his son Adonis' hair.
“It’s no way your sitting here acting like your braiding his hair for the internet," Yachty wrote.
Drake responded by clarifying that he was actually unbraiding Adonis' hair. He then made a joke about a son Yachty doesn't seem to have, all while advising the Atlanta rapper that the mentioned child would require 'Jordans and a backpack for school.'
“I was unbraiding it bitch,” Drake replied. “Your son said you ain’t hit him in 6 months on his finsta he said he need some Jordans and a backpack for school.”

During an interview with Zane Lowe earlier this year, Yachty shed light on his collaborative friendship with Drake
After appearing on Yachty's 2020 single "Oprah’s Bank Account ," Drizzy enlisted Lil Boat for his and 21 Savage’s 2022 joint album Her Loss. The hit record included writing credits from Yachty on standout tracks such as “Jumbotron Shit Poppin,” “Pussy & Millions,” and “Privileged Rappers,” among others.
“I love him to death,” Yachty said of Drake. “Yeah, that’s my guy, man…our relationship has just grown. I had a conversation with him after and I was just telling him, ‘Man, this music that you made over this time period has affected so many people.’”
He continued, “At this point I feel so close to him. I feel like whatever he does, I did it. If he wins something, I feel like I just won. He’s really, really smart. No matter how much he’ll act like he’s oblivious to his career and the things that he’s done, he knows what certain things and certain moments in his career mean to people.”

This banger features the likes of Icewear Vezzo and Rio Da Yung OG, who matched Yachty's energy perfectly. Talk about a Michigan masterpiece: "Plastic" shows off the best elements of the hip-hop sub-genre.
14. "Who Want The Smoke?" - Lil Yachty (feat. Cardi B and Offset) (2018)
Who can forget the first time they heard "Who Want The Smoke?" with Lil Yachty, Offset, and Cardi B all together on a single song. The energy was absolutely electric, and it's no coincidence why all three of them have continued to thrive in their respective careers to this day.
13. "Split/Whole Time" - Lil Yachty (2020)
This is arguably one of the hardest Yachty songs ever, I will vouch for that on anything. From the intro to the very last moment of this song, there's something very special about this one. It's so characteristic of Yachty, so it's no surprise why it's become such a popular song.
12. "Minnesota" - Lil Yachty (feat. Quavo, Young Thug, and Skippa Da Flippa) (2016)
Off his debut album, "Minnesota" is an absolute classic Lil Boat banger. The song shows off all of the best sides of Yachty around the time of his breakout into the music scene. Ahh, the good ol' days of SoundCloud.
11. "Solid" - Lil Yachty (feat. SoFaygo) (2021)
The beat of this song makes you want to tilt your head back and ascend into the sky. From Yachty's cunning bars to SoFaygo's unmatched vocal approach, they bodied this beat perfectly, and showed exactly how fire a collab between the two of them is.
10. "T.D." - Lil Yachty (feat. Tierra Whack, A$AP Rocky, and Tyler, the Creator) (2020)
Let's not forget Yachty's song with this legendary cast of characters, which sampled the "Tokyo Drift" production, and became a modern classic. Every artist on this song has a reputation for being creative, and they didn't disappoint with this one.
9. "Demon Time" - Lil Yachty (feat. Draft Day) (2020)
Yachty has a knack for putting listeners on to the best underground artists, and that's exactly what he did here with Draft Day. If you're a seasoned Yachty listener, then this feature should've came at no surprise to you.
8. "Get Dripped" - Lil Yachty (feat. Playboi Carti) (2018)
Here's yet another one of the best Lil Yachty songs. Off of Yachty's Nuthin' to Prove album, "Get Dripped" gave fans a rare glance at just how special Yachty and Carti collabs are. The two artists morph their unique Atlanta-based styles together, and create music that literally nobody else in rap could replicate.
7. "66" - Lil Yachty (feat. Trippie Redd) (2018)
As far as timeless Lil Yachty classics go, this song is one of the top options. Trippie Redd and Lil Yachty both bring an unconventional style to the table, so of course the result of their collaboration is exactly that: unconventional.
6. G.I. Joe - Lil Yachty (feat. Louie Ray) (2021)
Another song from Yachty's Michigan Boy Boat album, "G.I. Joe" was yet another standout. It's great to see the chemistry Yachty has with all of the many features from this project, but there's something especially unique about the energy shared between Boat and Louie Ray.
5. "All of the Opps Is Opp'd" - Lil Yachty (Unreleased)
While not everyone is probably hip to this song, everybody should be. This Cash Cobain-produced banger samples Roy Ayers' "Everybody Loves the Sunshine," and turned it into a contemporary drill classic. Thank us later.
4. "Dynamic Duo" - Lil Yachty (feat. Tee Grizzley) (2021)
The name of the song is no lie: Lil Yachty and Tee Grizzley really are a "Dynamic Duo," but you should've known that already, after their prior collabs. To Lil Boat diehards, this was no surprise. On a stacked project, somehow this song managed to be one of the standouts.
3. "Poland" - Lil Yachty (2022)
Talk about "best Lil Yachty songs." It's impossible to forget the iconic moment Yachty had with the leak of this song. "I took the woOoOoOoOok... to Poland" will never get old, at least to the younger generation. The memes that were generated from this wave will surely never age, that's for sure.
2. "DipSet" - Lil Yachty and Offset (2016)
Lil Yachty and Offset have connected numerous times on collaborations, yet for some reason, this one never ceases to smack. If you haven't heard it already, here's your chance. Feast your ears upon yet another classic.
1. "Coffin" - Lil Yachty (2020)
One of the most memorable Lil Yachty releases ever was his 2020 single, "Coffin." From the moment the video teaser dropped, the hype was there. This felt like the start of a new era of Lil Yachty, embracing the most modern landscape of music, as he's always done in true Yachty fashion.

Lil Yachty Admits He Didn't Like Being Namedropped By Kendrick Lamar In Drake Feud
Lil Yachty has admitted that he was left feeling somewhat uncomfortable by Kendrick Lamar mentioning his name on his explosive Drake diss track “Euphoria.”
During the latest episode of his A Safe Space podcast, the Atlanta rapper spoke about being brought up in the beef as an alleged ghostwriter for the 6 God.
“So many people kept calling and texting me with excitement of my name being used and for me it kinda just felt like… I really didn’t want anything to do with it,” he confessed.
“I got a ton of respect for both of these guys. Honestly, it was a cool thing to watch. I learned so much. It was an honor and blessing to be able to experience it firsthand.”
Yachty also revealed that he had prior knowledge about Kendrick namedropping him: “I knew that my name was mentioned before it came out. I didn’t hear the record but I had got word that I was mentioned. I wasn’t surprised.”
https://x.com/itsavibe/status/1791346958386294890
Lil Boat, who has worked extensively with Drake in recent years, also offered his thoughts on the high-profile feud, which has been crowned by many as Hip Hop’s greatest ever battle .
“Kendrick clearly had a lot more animosity, and you felt in every song that he dropped,” he said. “Drake dropped great records. But also, let’s be fair: Drake was deemed a loser in this battle before it started because people don’t like him and haven’t.
“Because he’s won for a very long time and he’s sat on the throne — respectfully, he still sits on the throne. Even if the opinionated masses say that Kendrick won, I don’t think people are gonna stop listening to Drake and Drake’s career is gonna flush.”
He added: “I told Drake, ‘I don’t feel like you won or lost.’ Rappers have lost, and then lost everything. But this hasn’t happened to Drake. He will still be in everybody’s Spotify Wrapped at the end of the year and he’ll still drop hits and control the summer. I think Kendrick made very smart moves and I don’t think Drake would disagree.”

Lil Yachty was accused of being a ghostwriter by both Kendrick Lamar and Rick Ross as the beef escalated in recent weeks.
“I’m allergic to the lame shit, only you like bein’ famous/ Yachty can’t give you no swag neither, I don’t give a fuck ’bout who you hang with,” K. Dot spit on the aforementioned “Euphoria.”
After an alleged demo of Drake’s “Jumbotron Shit Poppin” performed by Yachty leaked online, Rozay jumped on social media to fuel the allegations.
“Yacht Put ya phone on silent lil bro.. [100 emoji] #BBLDRIZZY CALLING AGAIN [nose emoji, hand emoji, laughing emoji],” he wrote, referencing his previous claims that the 6 God has undergone plastic surgery .
He added: “YACHT AKA THE PEN [five writing emojis].”

Roddy ricch and ex-gf reach settlement in child custody battle, roddy ricch granted joint custody of son after bitter court battle.
Roddy Ricch and his ex-girlfriend Alexandra Kiser have reached a custody agreement for their 3-year-old son ... finally putting an end to their parental tug-o-war.
"The Box" rapper will have joint legal custody and is getting physical custody of the kid for a couple days each week from Tuesdays to Thursdays.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
He also has to pay Alexandra $8K a month in child support ... on top of their son's private school tuition, medical bills, any special-needs therapy, and additional extracurricular activities.
Roddy also agreed to pay $37,500 for Alexandra's legal bills, and will need to fork over another $1K in a monthly stipend for her to get a car.
His attorney, Samantha Spector , negotiated the terms of the settlement, which was filed Friday in L.A. County.
Sources connected to the ex-couple tell us they're in a very good place now when it comes to co-parenting -- which is a dramatic turnaround. Alexandra had previously filed docs alleging the Diamond-selling artist wasn't taking care of his fatherly responsibilities with what she claimed was his $25 million net worth.
Now that the custody case is behind him, Roddy will likely resume his rap career.

Lil Yachty Claims Him Liking A Shady Tweet About Kendrick After “Euphoria” Was “An Accident”
- Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below
Accidents happen! Lil Yachty claims that he did not intend to link a tweet where a Drake fan account called out Kendrick Lamar for infidelity.
The Compton, Calif., rapper released his Drake-targeted diss record “ Euphoria ” on Tuesday (April 30) and called out the Toronto superstar for being a “deadbeat” father. Naturally, fans of the “Rich Baby Daddy” rapper weren’t pleased with the claim and recalled an admission he made on his 2022 album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers .
On the song “Worldwide Steppers,” he rapped, “The first time I f**ked a white b**ch, I was sixteen at the Palisades, fumblin’ my grades,” and “Next time I f**ked a white b**ch, was out in Copenhagen/ Good Kid, M.A.A.D City tour, I flourished on them stages.” He mentioned a conversation he had with his wife, Whitney Alford, about the situation as well: “Whitney asked did I have a problem/ I said, ‘I might be racist’/ Ancestors watchin’ me f**k was like retaliation.”
On “Mother I Sober,” Kendrick confirmed that he cheated on his wife, though he did not specifically say that it was with white women. “Intoxicated, there’s a lustful nature that I failed to mention/ Insecurities that I project, sleepin’ with other women/ Whitney’s hurt, the pure soul I know, I found her in the kitchen/ Askin’ God, ‘Where did I lose myself? And can it be forgiven?'”
A Drake fan account posted a Genius lyric card from Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” where he raps, “Y’all think all of my life is rap?/ That’s h** sh*t, I got a son to raise, but I can see you know nothin’ bout that.” In the caption, they asked, “So who was raising your child while you were out cheating on your wife with white women? @kendricklamar.”
These days, a large part of being a Hip-Hop fan is perusing artists’ social media activity. So, unsurprisingly, a music account discovered that Lil Yachty liked the tweet alluding to K. Dot’s infidelity. The act was perceived as him subtly going to bat for the Toronto superstar, with whom he has collaborated and developed a strong friendship over the last few years. Beyond that, Yachty himself was mentioned in “Euphoria” with the lines: “I’m allergic to the lame sh*t, only you like bein’ famous/ Yachty can’t give you no swag neither, I don’t give a f**k ’bout who you hang with.”

Lil Boat cleared the air hours later, writing, “Sh*t was an accident lmao.” A fan responded to his tweet with a video saying, “There’s no way out of this one…you’re done” and wrote “Too late buddy” in the caption. The Atlanta rapper quoted the tweet and added multiple laughing emojis.
“Euphoria” was Kendrick Lamar’s response to Drake’s one-two punch of “ Push Ups ” and the now-deleted “ Taylor Made Freestyle ,” the latter of which featured modulated vocals from Tupac and Snoop Dogg. K. Dot kicked off this chapter of his feud with his former collaborator on Future and Metro Boomin’s “ Like That ” at the end of March.

In another clip, he gives his opinion on who won or lost, and as of right now, Yachty has it as a draw because the cards were stacked against the Toronto rapper. “Drake dropped great records. But also, let’s be fair: Drake was deemed a loser in this battle before it started because people don’t like him and haven’t,” he said after suggesting Kendrick’s apparent “animosity.” He continued by admitting he thinks Drake will be fine: “I don’t think people are gonna stop listening to Drake and Drake’s career is gonna flush.”
Boat then said he told Drake “I don’t feel like you won or lost” before adding, “Rappers have lost, and then lost everything. But this hasn’t happened to Drake. He will still be in everybody’s Spotify Wrapped at the end of the year and he’ll still drop hits and control the summer.
