Behind the scenes: First look at James Bond's Spirit 46 sailing yacht in No Time to Die

The first behind the scenes images of the modern classic Spirit 46 sailing yacht set to star in the upcoming James Bond film No Time to Die have been revealed.

  • Perfect yachts for the new James Bond film No Time to Die

The 14 metre sailing yacht features in the film, which catches up with Bond following his departure from active service. Instead, he is enjoying retirement in Jamaica on board his Spirit 46 sailing yacht.

  • Geist : On board the 33.9m Spirit 111 sailing yacht

Built by UK yard Spirit Yachts, the Spirit 46 is characterised by long overhangs and flush decks, can reach 18 knots underway and handles with the performance of a regatta racing yacht, the builder said.

  • The best James Bond movie locations to visit by superyacht

The appearance of the yacht continues a long-running partnership between the Bond franchise and Spirit Yachts which began in the 2006 film Casino Royale . In Daniel Craig’s inaugural outing as the British spy, a 16.5 metre Spirit 54 is seen cruising into Venice with James Bond and Vesper Lynd on board.

  • Inside London’s ultimate James Bond-inspired residence

"The James Bond films are a mainstay of British culture and we are honoured to be continuing our partnership with such an iconic brand,” said Spirit Yachts chief executive and head of design Sean McMillan. “The Spirit 46, he added, is “one of the original Spirit Yachts designs”.

“I think the yacht suits the Bond character very well because of the combination of beauty and practicality,” he added.

No Time to Die will be released in UK cinemas on September 30 and in the US on October 8.

Take A Closer Look At Bond’s Spirit Yacht

The second spirit yacht to appear in a 007 film.

Posted October 4, 2021 by AI

It all started when a Spirit 54 yacht was chosen for Bond to sail in Casino Royale . Handmade by British boatbuilders, Spirit Yachts, the Spirit 54 was used for Bond and Vesper’s memorable arrival in Venice before the film’s dramatic climax.

Sean McMillan, Spirit Yachts CEO and Head of Design, tells us how their 007 story continued when a call came in from the No Time To Die production team. The crew were looking for the right vessel for Bond to enjoy as part of his life away from active service in the tranquility of Jamaica. Together they settled on a Spirit 46 sailing yacht.

Sean tells us, “The Spirit 46 is one of the original Spirit Yachts designs and is an example of the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into each of our yachts. It suits the Bond character very well because of the combination of beauty and practicality.

Inspired by the elegant sailing yachts of the 1930s, the Spirit 46 has a modern classic design with long overhangs, flush decks and an elegant profile. Capable of up to 18 knots speed, the vessel looks good on the water and has the sailing performance of a regatta racing yacht. The day sailing yacht will take you on short trips or around the world at a moment’s notice – making it the perfect boat for Bond.

The James Bond films are a mainstay of British culture and we are honoured to be continuing our partnership with such an iconic brand.”

Each Spirit yacht is built to order by a team of world-class craftsmen and women in the company’s waterside headquarters in Suffolk, UK. Every vessel is tailored to suit its owner’s criteria, making each one completely unique.

Bond and Vesper sailing into Venice with a Spirit 54 yacht in Casino Royale

In the movie Casino Royale  (2006), James Bond (Daniel Craig) and Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) sail from Montenegro to Venice in style: a brand new Spirit 54 sailing yacht, made by Spirit Yachts.

Bond casually steers this majestic and luxurious ship throught the canals, while Vesper is enjoying the view and taking pictures with her Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T50 Digital Camera.

James Bond is wearing a grey Sunspel t-shirt and Persol sunglasses .

The Spirit 54 is seen once more at the end of the movie when Bond, sitting on the deck, speaks on the phone to 'M'. Then he is wearing a black cardigan, white Sunspel v-neck shirt  and khaki chinos.

Handcrafted by Spirit Yachts in Suffolk, Spirit has the clean lines synonymous with Spirit Yachts’ design as well as the iconic mahogany topsides, teak decks and modern rig. Down below she has two double cabins with ensuites and a spacious living area, complete with mahogany dining table and well-equipped galley.

Following the build in Suffolk, Spirit was shipped to the Bahamas before the Spirit Yachts team sailed her to Puerto Rico and through the British Virgin Islands to Tortola Harbour, before she was shipped to Croatia and then sailed to Venice.

After being de-masted to fit under the various bridges (the rig came in and out a total of 10 times!), 54-foot Spirit was the first sailing yacht to go up the Grand Canal in 300 years.

Oh dear...it's a shame that Lake Como and an obviously charmed lifestyle haven't afforded you any class or subtlety.....

I fear the somewhat onanistic Mr Tadler below is pulling several legs as well as himeslf with his self-pleasuring tales (focused about unlikely sourcing of prime James Bond Ephemera.) You would not get your hairy hand on a Spirit 54 for love nor indeed, a lot of money as a charter or hire boat - rather you need 550 Grand in a numbered Swiss account or, to have performed a valuable service for MI6 and her Brittanic majesty - Doubtful for such a shameless, self - proclaimed (if not eloquent and ambitious) tosser in either case.

Sunseeker and Spirit Yachts craft some beautiful vessels but it's unfortunate that movie, The Island, yanked the rights to use Wallypower vessels, specifically the Wallypower 118. My god that 118 gave me goosebumps when I looked it up and found it's not just some movie prop and it's actually in production.

Warning: The following contains spoilers from “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.”

Although the events of World War II have been extensively studied, details are still emerging. In fact, documents concerning an essential mission, dubbed Operation Postmaster and undertaken by the British War Office, were only recently declassified. The mission, carried out by the Special Operations Executive (SOE), is the unlikely subject of Guy Ritchie’s latest film, “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.”

Now in theaters the film, written by Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson, Arash Amel and Ritchie, is based on Damien Lewis’s 2014 book “Churchill’s Secret Warriors: The Explosive True Story of the Special Forces Desperadoes of WWII.” However, it takes some dramatic license in its depiction of the events.

“The story itself and the elements are true,” Amel says, noting that some characters are amalgamations to serve a two-hour narrative. “Not only was it untold history, with men on a mission against all odds who became the forerunners of James Bond, but it was a coming together of this multicultural coalition of the misfits. It wasn’t just your classical story of the British fighting the Germans.”

Operation Postmaster involved a group of special operatives, led by Gus March-Phillipps (Henry Cavill), who were tasked with destroying ships used to supply the German U-boats then terrorizing British waters. The members of the team — Anders Lassen (Alan Ritchson), Geoffrey Appleyard (Alex Pettyfer), Henry Hayes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) and Freddy Alvarez (Henry Golding) — are based on real people. Other characters, like Nazi leader Heinrich Luhr (Til Schweiger), are fictional.

But while Ritchie infused the story with his own flair (and predilection for improvisation), the outlines of the mission itself are depicted more or less accurately.

“It was extraordinary to learn about a mission like this, which on paper was a suicide mission,” Cavill says. “It changed the course of the whole war because we essentially shut down the nasty U-boat fleet in the Atlantic. Without that happening, there could have been considerably less supplies reaching the Allies in Europe and the Americans may never have joined.”

“You can be taught this story from history and think, ‘Wow, this is fascinating,’” adds Eiza González, who plays an agent named Marjorie Stewart. “Because it is a fascinating story. But you also have to care about these people and you have to give them a personality.”

Here’s what’s true and what’s dramatized in “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.”

Spies gather on a boat.

Review: Long before Bond, ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ kicked off British covert ops

Director Guy Ritchie isn’t subtle but supplies this lesser-known chapter of spycraft with verve and a cast that includes Henry Cavill and Eiza González.

The mission objective

In 1942, Winston Churchill enlisted a team of operatives to infiltrate the West African port city of Fernando Po (now Bioko) to steal three Italian and German ships, including the Duchessa d’Aosta, which supplied the German U-boats. In the film, the characters intend to destroy and sink the ships, but the plan is foiled when they realize the Duchessa’s hull has been reinforced. In reality, the mission was to steal the vessels and pretend to discover them in international waters — exactly what the team did.

“Churchill backed the mission against a lot of his senior advisors, who said the risks were too great,” Lewis says. “But he believed the upside of what would be achieved by stealing three ships was too great to miss.”

Operation Postmaster was the first mission for the group, known as No. 62 Commando. Ritchson notes that, although many factors “ helped the dominoes fall for the Allied forces … this group was one of the really important pieces of the puzzle.”

In real life, the operatives sailed two ships from Britain to Fernando Po. One was a trawling vessel, the Maid of Honour, commanded by March-Phillipps, the other a transport ship commanded by Appleyard. In the film, the action is contained to the Maid of Honour and the mission team is reduced to five agents, including Appleyard.

Onscreen, March-Phillipps leads a bloody raid on an enemy camp to free Appleyard on the way to Fernando Po. “There were certainly many attacks like that,” Lewis says. “But Appleyard was not held prisoner at that time.” Amel confirms that the raid in the film is based on the second real-life mission the group undertook, Operation Dryad, although the violence is “a nod to the mayhem and murder of subsequent missions” as no shots were actually fired.

In Fernando Po, two agents, Marjorie Stewart (González) and Mr. Heron (Babs Olusanmokun), create a diversion on the ground by hosting two parties for the Nazi officers and soldiers, as well as the Spanish harbor crew. Those scenes in the film are based on fact, although Mr. Heron is an amalgam of real-life agents.

“All of that is pretty much as it happened,” Lewis says. “The big crazy party at the end — that’s exactly what the guy did on the ground. They even had a trial party to check out that it would work. And blowing the electricity station — all of that took place.”

The James Bond factor

As seen in the movie, Ian Fleming did work for the British government and was involved with the SOE during World War II. Several years later, he was inspired to write the James Bond novels, which began with 1953’s “Casino Royale.” Lewis explains that Bond is a “photo fit” of several actual agents.

“March-Phillipps is one of the key characters and there are two or three others — all individuals that Fleming worked with,” he says. “Fleming was hands-on with Operation Postmaster. That’s absolutely true. But he also worked closely with an amazing character named Wilfred ‘Biffy’ Dunderdale. He was a high-born bon vivant, just like James Bond, and he was the secret intelligence spymaster in France prior to the war.”

March-Phillipps, who died during the next mission he undertook, wrote a spy novel himself, which Cavill discovered “in a very small article somewhere in the dark corners of the internet.”

“Had he not died during the war he might have beaten Ian Fleming to the punch,” Cavill says.

The Danish hammer

One of the film’s most compelling characters is Lassen, a real-life spy who went on numerous missions throughout the war and was a deadly fighter known as “the Danish hammer.” Ritchson describes him as “the most badass character in the movie and in real life” despite the fact that Lassen looked nothing like the muscled “Reacher” star.

“What so impressive about Anders is that he was this very slight man,” Ritchson says. “He didn’t look like a superhero. He was a genius tactician [and] a genius strategist. He was so inventive and creative in his pursuit of dominating the enemy or fooling the enemy or in his outright savagery.”

In the film, Lassen is a brutal killer, using a bow and arrow to take down Nazi after Nazi. He was, in fact, a skilled archer, and even campaigned to get the bow and arrow recognized as an official weapon of war in Britain. Ritchson trained with an Olympic archery coach to get the character’s physicality right.

Like March-Phillipps, Lassen died during a later mission, only two months before the war ended. His death is documented in Lewis’ book, which describes numerous missions after Operation Postmaster.

“People who read the book say they are in tears because you really get to know this guy and he is this incredible, legendary, free-spirited maverick,” Lewis says. “Alan has got his essence, as I think have all the actors.”

A woman with a tommy gun makes a stand.

The body count

March-Phillipps and his team killed dozens — maybe hundreds — of enemies in the film. The action sequences do reflect real fighting techniques used by the British forces, but the number of dead Nazis during Operation Postmaster has been drastically exaggerated.

“There is quite a bit more gunfire than in the real mission,” Cavill says. “I think during the real thing not a single shot was fired, apart from when [the team] blew the anchor chain in the harbor and the Germans thought it was a bombing raid so they started firing antiaircraft guns into the sky. But they did not think there was a bunch of sneaky gentlemen stealing their boats.”

Ritchson and his stunt double Ryan Tarran helped to conceive several of the brutal fight scenes, including when Anders storms one of the ships and takes down multiple crew members with an ax. Ritchson recalls asking for 18 extras to kill in the scene even though Ritchie said he could only have 10.

“The crazier it is, the better,” Ritchson says. “I wanted everything to have life-and-death stakes, but I didn’t want it to take itself so seriously that the audience couldn’t enjoy it. The cake is the reality of this saga and the men behind it, but the icing is how much fun we can make it.”

Cavill adds that while the body count is exaggerated, it encapsulates the work these operatives did throughout the war. “What made these guys and girls so special is that they made a lot of this stuff look easy,” he says.

The real Marjorie Stewart

Marjorie Stewart was a spy and did work for the SOE, but she was not part of the Fernando Po team. And although Lewis confirms that there was a female agent on the ground, he notes that she was not, like the movie’s Marjorie, tasked with seducing Nazis. That said, seduction was certainly a tactic employed during the real-life operation.

“When they organized the party, they organized ladies to be there for the same reason,” Lewis says. “That was part of the draw — drink, food and women.”

Amel says that Stewart, who was also an actress, was an “incredible person in real life.” He wanted to include her not only because she married March-Phillipps, but because she could stand in for all of the female spies who never got their due.

“If we didn’t put Marjorie in there, we’d be forgetting all of the women that were there and the work that she did specifically on all the different missions,” Amel says. “That’s where it’s acceptable, for me, to stray from the bounds of an absolute commitment to history because contributions get forgotten.”

In the film, Marjorie distracts Heinrich with a Marilyn Monroe-like performance. The song was added on the set when Ritchie discovered that González could sing and is not based on the historical record. González did learn about Stewart’s life and work, as well as other women in the SOE, including Virginia Hall, Nancy Wake and Mata Hari.

“I was just impressed by the capabilities that they had,” González says. “Women were pivotal in these missions, and they were necessary because there were a lot of things that men couldn’t infiltrate. I genuinely encourage anyone who is fascinated by this story to read more about it. We hear about a lot of the men who made a difference, but not a lot about the women who made a difference and there’s quite outstanding stories out there.”

Unbelievable Bond destinations

Whether James Bond is leaping across ancient rooftops, racing down snowy slopes, languishing in luxurious lakeside residences or seeking out villains’ urban hideouts, one of the joys of a 007 movie is the places we get to travel to vicariously. We look at some locations around the world that have played a starring role in the movie franchise over the decades.

<p>With its mountain passes full of hair-pin bends and snowy slopes made for chase sequences, Switzerland is a prime location for action movies. As an offshore financial center to boot, the land-locked country makes a regular appearance in James Bond movies. Key settings include Piz Gloria, a revolving restaurant on Schilthorn's summit (pictured). It featured as arch-villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld’s lair in the 1969 film <em>On Her Majesty’s Secret Service </em>and today <a href="https://schilthorn.ch/5/en/360_deg_-Restaurant_Piz_Gloria">the mountain-top restaurant</a> has various themed menu items, a Bond museum and 007 trail.</p>

<p>The dizzying Furka Pass, which loops between the Uri and Valais cantons in south-central Switzerland, also appears in <em>Goldfinger, </em>while glitzy resort St Moritz was used for thrilling ski chase sequences in both <em>The Spy Who Loved Me</em> and <em>A View to a Kill</em>. When he’s not plummeting down icy slopes, Bond can be seen jumping off various buildings. In the nail-biting opener to <em>GoldenEye</em>, Pierce Brosnan’s Bond (or the stuntman anyway) dives off the towering Verzasca Dam near Locarno (pictured). Wannabe Bonds can recreate the stunt by <a href="https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-gb/experiences/verzasca-007-golden-eye-bungee-jump/">signing up for a bungee jump there</a>.</p>

<p>Like his flawed and restless hero, Ian Fleming was very well traveled and his explorations in Japan influenced his writing. The 1967 film <em>You Only Live Twice</em> was filmed in the photogenic country and sees Bond sent to Tokyo in search of the bad guys. Key locations include the city’s then ultra-modern Hotel New Otani, Shinmoedake volcano in Kirishima National Park (which was the villainous Blofeld’s lair), and 17th-century Himeji Castle in Hyōgo Prefecture (pictured). The latter was used as the grand location for a ninja training school.</p>

<p>Japan was once again the setting for a villain’s lair in 2012’s <em>Skyfall</em>. The deserted and tiny Hashima Island, a dilapidated coal-mining factory just off the coast of Nagasaki, made an extremely atmospheric hideout for Bond's creepy nemesis, Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem). Now preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the industrial wasteland is also known as Gunkanjima (Battleship Island) because of its shape. It’s possible to visit the ghost town on guided tours with cruises departing regularly from Nagasaki's port.</p> <p><a href="https://www.loveexploring.com/galleries/85261/incredible-photos-of-abandoned-islands-the-world-forgot?page=1"><strong>Incredible photos of abandoned islands the world forgot</strong></a></p>

<p>Jamaica has long been a favored location for the movie franchise. It’s in the DNA, after all, as the Caribbean island was very close to creator Ian Fleming’s heart – he wrote all 14 books at his home GoldenEye in Oracabessa on the northeast coast. His tropical retreat is now <a href="https://www.theflemingvilla.com">an upscale resort where guests can stay in the author’s writing studio</a>. Laughing Waters Beach was the setting for arguably the most famous Bond scene ever, when Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) emerges from the sea in the inaugural movie, <em>Dr No</em>. <p>The Dunns River Falls, spectacular rock pools and cascades that tumble down to the sea near Ocho Rios, are one of the country’s most popular sights and famously featured in <em>Dr No</em> as part of the fictional Crab Key Island. <p>Six rock-top monasteries are still in operation and it’s possible to visit them (without scaling the cliff, although the ascents are pretty steep). Guided hikes are a great way to discover the landscape and its age-old hermit caves and pilgrimage paths – and sunset is an especially magical time to take in the extraordinary “stone forest”. More ecclesiastical sights can be found in Kalabaka, a town that lies in the shadow of the pinnacles. Its 10th-century Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary has some extraordinary frescoes. </p>

<p>Corfu’s handsome old town also played a starring role in <em>For Your Eyes Only</em>. Many action sequences were filmed around its imposing Old Fortress, a vast complex built by the Venetians that masqueraded as Albania in the movie. They were close: parts of this lush island are closer to Albania's sandy shores than Greece’s mainland. Neo-classical mansion Achilleion Palace, just to the old town's south, also featured as a casino; little village Pagi in the northwest was the setting for a car chase; and Corfu's stunning coastline was a dramatic backdrop for some cliff-edge scuffles.</p>

<p>Seaplane scenes reveal more of the island’s idyllic tree-lined coves and azure waters. Picturesque spots include Palaiokastritsa on the northwest coastline and the stunning Porto Timoni, a breath-taking double bay (pictured). The best way to explore Corfu's rugged coastline is by zipping from bay to bay by boat (you can hire them at most beach towns). There are lovely spots to cool off in Corfu Town too – including a swimming area beneath the Old Fortress where you can gaze up at the ramparts and imagine Bond racing around them. Or head to the port and hop on a ferry over to explore Albania.</p>

<p>Exuberant <em>Día de los Muertos</em> (Day of the Dead) celebrations in Mexico City’s grand Zócalo form a stunning backdrop for the dramatic opener of <em>Spectre</em> (2015). With its huge flagpole and imposing buildings, including the Metropolitan Cathedral and the National Palace, the vast plaza is at the heart of the historic district and just the place to start explorations. The nearby <a href="https://granhoteldelaciudaddemexico.com.mx/en/">Gran Hotel Ciudad de México</a> is where Bond slips into a hotel room with the mysterious Estrella (played by Mexican-American actor Stephanie Sigman) before giving chase across rooftops. It wasn’t the first time the Art Nouveau-hotel appeared in the franchise – it was also a location in <em>Licence to Kill</em> (1989).</p>

<p>Mexico’s sprawling capital has plenty to thrill with its must-see museums and galleries, eclectic barrios and tempting food scene. You can pore over works at the Museo Frida Kahlo and Palacio de Bellas Artes, gaze at the Angel of Independence on Avenida Paseo de la Reforma, and graze your way around its lively markets. There’s rich history in this modern metropolis too. The Zócalo, built by the Spanish conquistadors over the original Aztec city of Tenochtitlan, contains the ruins of an Aztec pyramid, the Templo Mayor. To see more, take the hour trip to gaze at the awe-inspiring pyramids of the Sun and Moon at Teotihuacán.</p>

<p>Italy and its beautiful lakes have been the location for many of Bond’s escapades. Magnet for the rich, the famous and for super villains too, Lake Como made a suitably glam appearance in 2006’s <em>Casino Royale</em>. The lake’s deep blue waters are backed by the Alps and its wooded shores are home to numerous ritzy residences, including the opulent Villa Balbianello (pictured). Sitting on a promontory on the western shore, the villa's beautiful terraced gardens were the location for several scenes (it can be visited on <a href="https://lakecomotravel.com/villa-balbianello-lake-como/">guided tours</a>). Villa La Gaeta in San Siro, a private 1920-era mansion built to resemble a medieval castle, also appears as the setting for Bond's climactic battle with Mr White. </p>

<p>Boat is the most practical and pleasurable way to get around the 20-mile-long (32km) lake, so hire a motorboat or <a href="https://taxiboatvarenna.com/lake-como-visit-villa-balbianello-boat-tour/">taxi boat</a> to speed, 007 style, between mansions and pretty lakeside towns such as Bellagio and Varenna (pictured), which clings to a rocky headland opposite. There are plenty of swanky lakeside spots to stop for martinis and seafood lunches, and to explore cobbled lanes for hidden-away trysts and old-school trattorias. Another of Como's historic lakeside mansions is the exquisite <a href="https://www.villacarlotta.it/">Villa Carlotta </a>with its lush gardens. Keep the thrills going like Bond by catching a train to Venice, whose canals, palazzo and piazzas also dazzled in <em>Casino Royale </em>(and a good few other Bond movies).</p>

<p>The next installment keeps us in Italy with Bond driving from a car chase in Lake Garda to Siena with Mr White in his trunk at the start of 2008’s <em>Quantum of Solace</em>. <p>All cobbled alleys in Siena’s car-free center lead to the Piazza del Campo, a vast shell-shaped square lined with medieval palaces and cafés. The grand Torre del Mangia looms above the Palazzo Publicco and is the place to head for fantastic views. The medieval stronghold, which retains its old walls, is made up of 17 districts (contrade) all with a fierce sense of identity: 10 of them compete against each other in the horse race, which has taken place since the 17th century. Wander around the backstreets to spot each contrada’s symbols. Siena's other landmarks are its striking 13th-century cathedral and Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the world’s oldest bank.</p>

<p>For all his foreign forays, the British secret agent always returns home – more often than not reporting into London's MI6 HQ. Bond creator Ian Fleming was born in Mayfair – you can see a blue plaque at 22b Ebury Street, which was his home between 1934 and 1945, and drink Vesper martinis at Dukes London. Fleming frequented the hotel for its “shaken, not stirred" dry martinis, which were to become Bond’s signature drink. The well-heeled neighborhood has also played host to various night-time liaisons in the books and movies – for example, a set was built to resemble exclusive casino Les Ambassadeurs Club in <em>Dr No</em>. </p>

<p>The capital’s most expansive and dramatic appearance was in the opening sequence of <em>The World is not Enough </em>(1999). After launching onto the river from Thames House, real-life HQ of MI5, Bond races along the River Thames past the Houses of Parliament, under its famous bridges and through the wharf-lined Docklands to the Millennium Dome. Once again, Scotland’s stunning wilderness makes a star turn in 2012’s <em>Skyfall</em> when Bond and M travel along the road to Loch Etive to hide out in the agent’s former family home, Skyfall Lodge. While the remote lodge was a studio construction, its location was real. <p>The romantic palaces and dreamy waterways of Rajasthan’s ravishing city Udaipur have long captured travelers' and artists’ imaginations. Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul is another handsome and history-rich city that has captivated Bond location scouts over the decades. The Turkish city dazzles in From Russia With Love , The World Is Not Enough and Skyfall . The latter thrills viewers with spectacular city scenes that include a nail-biting chase sequence across the roof of the sprawling 15th-century Grand Bazaar and around Eminonu Square and the New Mosque in its Old City.

Set on the Bosphorus Straits, the east-meets-west metropolis stuns with its heady spice-scented bazaars, labyrinthine streets and awe-inspiring Ottoman-era architecture – the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace are its big hitters. A cruise out on the Bosphorus is another city essential, as is time spent exploring its treasure-stuffed museums: set aside plenty of hours to marvel at the riches within the Istanbul Archaeology Museums and the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum.

Matera, Italy

Perched on a rocky outcrop on the edge of a sharp ravine, the southern Italian city of Matera has lured plenty of movie-makers with its spectacular setting, well-worn alleyways and atmospheric sassi (ancient cave dwellings). But the makers of Bond truly put photogenic Matera on the map when  No Time To Die,  starring Daniel Craig and Léa Seydoux, was released. The spy resumes his life-long love affair with Italy and the Basilicata beauty is one of the movie’s primary locations.

<p>The UNESCO World Heritage Site is the setting for a high-speed car chase scene, naturally featuring the secret agent’s Aston Martin (pictured here during filming). Matera's 13th-century Romanesque cathedral and sassi districts are a spectacular backdrop. Keeping It Unreal

Master of Dreams

If you like to live large, Solo is for you. A spectacular owner's apartment on the fly deck brings a king-size bed with panoramic views, but it’s the private terrace with Jacuzzi and lounge beds forward, independent office and personal library that steps the master suite up a gear. A long walk-in wardrobe leads directly to the ensuite bathroom, complete with freestanding bath, shower, dual basins and heads. There’s even a second plunge pool aft for those seeking ultimate privacy.

Flying High

Arrive from the sky in style thanks to Solo’s touch-and-go helipad on the fly deck, which is suitable for a private helicopter of up to 2.2 tonnes. Making airport transfers easy even in remote areas and providing unrivalled access to hard-to-reach shore excursions, a helipad is a key attribute that brings convenience to the party. When not in use, it converts into a handy dance floor for those who like to bring the moves on the water.

Pooling Ideas

A glass-encased 7m infinity pool on the main deck aft gifts lingering views and leisurely access to the large swim platform below via two stairways either side. Hovering above the expansive beach club, it’s large enough to enjoy a proper fitness swim and luxurious enough to head to for end of day soaks and sundowners. Backed on to a bank of sofas, it’s the ideal social setup.

She was delivered by Christensen in 2008 and is in pristine condition thanks to regular maintenance. The yacht's luxury interior styling is by Carol Williamson & Associates, while her exteriors are the work of Christensen.

Casino Royale is a modern yacht with all the latest facilities and amenities you could want for chartering in style.

She has plenty of outdoor areas where you can soak up the sun; the most popular spot among charterers is the sundeck. Here, you’ll find a jacuzzi, bar, enormous sunpad spread, seating area, barbecue and a treadmill.

She has a lovely large foredeck area as well, with sumptuous seating and discreet lighting panels integrated into the deck. At night, the lights create a chic and sophisticated setting for entertaining and enjoying the views.

Interior Design

Carol Williamson & Associates has helmed the interior styling of the yacht, and the studio has created a timeless and glamorous ambience that works together with the yacht’s James Bond-inspired name. Throughout the yacht’s social spaces, she features glossy mahogany, crystal chandeliers, bronze accents and cream soft furnishings. Bespoke statuettes add to her classic feel, while glass details and emblems on the floor and the tables nod to the yacht’s casino themes. In total, the yacht has almost 7,000 square feet of interior space and benefits from an elevator that serves all floors for complete accessibility. The main salon offers a grand entrance space, with a generous lounging area and formal dining arrangement located forward. The skylounge benefits from a well-appointed bar, a casino-themed card table and a second lounging area with a large TV screen that allows the skylounge to function as a cinema suite. An onboard movie library offers more than 4,500 titles to choose from.

Guest Accommodation

Superyacht CASINO ROYALE provides accommodation for up to 12 guests in six cabins. A main-deck master stateroom features an office and en-suite facilities with a spa bath finished in decadent marble. In addition, the yacht has a full-beam VIP stateroom with Jacuzzi tub, two king suites with en-suite baths and two double cabins with en-suite baths and each with a single bed in the cabin — perfect for nannies or other supernumerary guests. This flexible and dynamic layout makes her ideal for a variety of charter configurations.
