WELCOME, Y'ALL!

NEW MENU OUT NOW!!!

The anti-club club.

We are a space where all are welcome. We are a nerdy cocktail bar, a natural wine bar, and your favorite dive bar all in one. We believe in accessibility to deliciousness and that a good time shouldn’t be unattainable, but rather had by all.

FOOD & DRINK

We got the goods.

The drinks at Yacht Club are first and foremost aimed at enjoyment - with the best quality of ingredients, care and love that make for some seriously fun (and delicious!) drinking. We lean coastal while not being tropical, we focus heavily on split based wine forward cocktails, and aim to get the most out of every ingredient that comes through our door - all of this is part of our ultimate belief and ethos in a holistic approach to sustainability.

Our wine list features some of the world’s most highly regarded farmers/winemakers at approachable price points, both by the glass and the bottle. The ever-evolving list of just over 200 labels of natural wine span the gamut from classic benchmarks to the most rebellious anti-establishment producers. Every night we pull something super special from the cellar to feature on our “Break Even Bottle” board where you can experience these rare and highly sought after wines by the ounce, at cost, because we believe that they are a luxury to be shared and enjoyed by all.

And for those that like to keep it easy, we've got you covered with cheap canned beers, combo packs, and the Old Number 7-11, which is a Jack + Coke w/ a hotdog because when we say we've got that dog in us this is what we mean.

Last but not least, the dog, the myth , the legend...Hollywood Frank! We use RiverBear Meats uncured all beef natural casing hotdogs, which are Denver’s finest in our opinion. Any dog can be made into a veggie dog, with Udi's gluten free buns available too. Food is served every night until 2 a.m.

We like to have fun

Sunset Sailing

One of our most popular programs is our   adult Sunset Sailing Program . A program for people who do not own a sailboat yet want to discover sailing, or for boatowners (or their partners) to gain greater experience and confidence on the water. If you’ve ever thought about racing, cruising, or family day-sailing but feel a little intimidated, Sunset Sailing will help you learn more than enough to get started.

Ideal Sailing

You can learn to sail utilizing our modern fleet of club-owned Ideal 18 sailboats, an 18-foot keelboat designed by Bruce Kirby, the designer of the Laser and the Sonar. The Ideal 18, was designed with safety, simplicity, comfort, and performance in mind and is a joy to sail. Guided by our Director of Sailing, participants begin with beginner classroom sessions followed by on-the-water instruction and can even race in our popular Sunday racing series or one of our many regattas. Come join the fun! For more information, please visit our  Ideal 18 page.

Come Crew With Us - For Some Serious Fun

One of the best ways to enjoy the thrill of sailboat racing is to crew on a member’s boat—and you don’t have to be a Nyack Boat Club member to give it a try. Every week, skippers on many of our boats—Ensigns, Sonars, Thistles, and especially cruisers who require larger crews, are looking for sailors  to join them on the Hudson River.  Skippers look for crew with some sailing and racing experience, availability to show up regularly, and commitment to the team.  If you’d like to give it a try, we’d love to have you aboard! Visit the NBC Crew Finder , input your availability, and see boats seeking crew.

Junior Sailing

For more than half a century now, the Nyack Boat Club has run a very successful and well-respected Junior Sailing program for both beginners and more advanced junior sailors. The program’s mission is to support the development of junior sailors ages 8 to 16 through both recreational and racing sailing lessons. In addition to helping younger sailors develop their nautical skills, the program also encourages safety, responsibility, and personal achievement, instilling values that extend far beyond sailing. If you’re interested in learning more about the program for a family member, just visit Junior Sailing .

Software engineer goes missing from Detroit Yacht Club where he's been a member for years

yacht club 18th

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Divers with Michigan State Police searched the waters near the Detroit Yacht Club Tuesday for any sign of 63-year-old James (Jim) Kuntz who was reported missing Sunday but last seen with friends Friday evening at the club.

Kuntz, a software engineer, is an avid kayaker, and, at first, the Coast Guard reported that he was missing along with his red kayak. But Plymouth Township Police spotted that red kayak in Kuntz's home when a close family friend, Tamra Homicz, contacted them to do a welfare check.

"My husband is like his brother," said Homicz. "They're that close."

yacht club 18th

The Detroit Yacht Club is on its own island next to Belle Isle and jurisdiction falls under the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

DNR conservation officers are handling the investigation and trying to determine if Kuntz fell into the water.

yacht club 18th

Homicz said that although Kuntz is an avid kayaker, he would never jump into the water to swim. And she said Kuntz would never go far from his Apple watch that he used to help monitor his heart.

The watch and Kuntz's wallet were reportedly found on his boat. His vehicle was found in the parking lot of the yacht club.

Investigators said they are working with Michigan State Police to try to ping Kuntz's phone.

Homicz said everyone thinks the world of Kuntz because he's so kind and always so helpful. And they just want to find him.

"He deserves this," she said. "It's just one of those things. It's a mystery that we hope can be solved."

If anyone sees any sign of Kuntz near the water, they should call 911. Anyone with any other information that might assist investigators is urged to call DNR dispatch at 1-800-292-7800.

Port Washington Yacht Club Hosts 18th Make A Wish Regatta

yacht club 18th

The Make A Wish Regatta covers several boats giving the opportunity to race to almost every sailor. There are Fevas, Club 420s, Laser Radials and Standards and Optimist Red, Blue, White and Green fleets from beginner to experienced. According to the head instructor at Port Washington Yacht Club, Declan Wildes, the day ran very smooth ly. He also claimed, “Being a part of running the 18th annual Make A Wish Regatta was quite possibly my proudest moment as a sailing director in all my years so far!” The race is heartwarming not just to new and conditioned sailors, but to parents and instructors alike.

One of the most important parts of the Make A Wish is the Green Fleet regatta that helps instill the love of sailing to the younger groups. During the regatta, there were 25 Green Fleet-ers who were able to sail right in front of the club in between the two Opti docks. To keep up the fun, the sailors raced around three inflatable animal floats including a peacock, an eagle, and a swan! There was even a point where some instructors jumped in for a go around the “course.”

yacht club 18th

This race proves that anyone can be a part of a regatta, and that we can all come together for a great cause.

Check out the Clubspot to learn more about the results!

The suspects:

Kenneth Denning was the owner of the Electric Blue Café, a strip club in Tolland; Electric Blue was owned by Denning Enterprises, a holding company nominally owned by Denning’s wife, but controlled by him.

William Mayo worked at the Electric Blue and served as a bouncer and was responsible for hiring dancers to work at the club.

How customers were attracted:

As alleged by federal authorities, the defendants and their coconspirators attracted customers to the Electric Blue by advertising and featuring women dancing nude and semi-nude on stages and in private and semi-private rooms.

Electric Blue advertised itself on social media and elsewhere as a gentlemen’s club that employed numerous dancers and held promotional events and contests.

On some occasions, but not all, customers would be required to pay a cover charge, typically $5 but sometimes more, at the door to enter the Electric Blue.

A coconspirator regularly posted on social media accounts for the club, including a Facebook account in the name “Electric Blue Café” advertising and promoting events with dancers to attract customers, each social media post being a separate overt act.

The cover charge was always paid in cash.

The setting:

As alleged by federal authorities: The Electric Blue had multiple small, private rooms inside. These rooms, called “VIP rooms” or “Champagne rooms,’ were typically furnished with a small couch and were separate from the rest of the club.

To enter one of the VIP rooms with a dancer, a customer had to pay a fee to an employee of the club, usually but not always paid in cash, and then negotiate an additional fee with the dancer directly for their time in the VIP room. These additional fees often included payments for commercial sex acts with the dancers.

Electric Blue also had a “lap dance room,” which was a room with semi-private stalls where dancers and customers could go for private dances.

The “fees”:

As alleged by federal authorities: To enter the lap dance room, a customer had to pay a cash fee to an employee of the club, and then negotiate a fee for the private dance directly with the dancer. These additional fees often included payments for commercial sex acts with the dancers.

Dancers were encouraged by employees of the Electric Blue, including the defendants, to solicit customers to engage in commercial sex transactions in the private and semi-private rooms.

The defendants ordered, placed, and operated automated teller machines in the Electric Blue.

Denning allegedly profited from the use of the ATMs by customers of the Electric Blue. The ATMs were facilities operating in interstate commerce.

Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program

The United States Small Business Administration agency provides support to entrepreneurs and small businesses and by assisting in the economic recovery of communities after disasters.

Loan applicants are asked questions, one of which is certifying that “Applicant  does not present live performances of a prurient sexual nature or derive directly or indirectly more than de minimis gross revenue through the sale of products or services, or the presentation of any depictions or displays, of a prurient sexual nature.” Applicants must certify that all of the information in the application was true and correct to the best of the applicant’s knowledge.

Conspiracy:

As alleged by federal authorities: Beginning in or around January 2020 and continuing through at least March 2023, Denning, Baker, and Mayo “did knowingly and willfully combine, conspire, confederate, and agree with each other, and with others known and unknown to the Grand Jury, to commit an offense against the United States, namely, the following object of the conspiracy”: to use facilities in interstate commerce, including but not limited to automatic teller machines (“ATMs”), the processing of credit card payments, and social media accounts operated on behalf of the Electric Blue, with the intent to promote, manage, establish, carry on, and facilitate the promotion, management, establishment, and carrying on of unlawful activity, namely, prostitution offenses in violation of Connecticut laws.”

Denning, Baker, and Mayo allegedly “hired dancers to work at the Electric Blue. They then allowed nude dancers, commonly referred to as strippers, to perform at the Electric Blue. Despite Connecticut laws prohibiting fully nude dancers at strip clubs, the defendants and their coconspirators allowed and encouraged dancers to be fully nude.

“The defendants and their coconspirators typically, but not always, required each dancer to pay a ‘house fee’ to perform. The amount for house fees varied but could be as much as $50 per dancer per shift. This payment was almost always paid in cash and was collected by the defendants and their coconspirators. The dancers would perform dances for customers, often referred to as lap dances, in the semi-private ‘lap dance room’. The defendants and their coconspirators maintained the lap dance room for this purpose. To enter the lap dance room with a dancer, a customer would pay a cash fee, typically $20, to an employee of the bar.

“Defendants and their coconspirators collected the $20 entrance fee to the lap dance room. The customer then paid the dancer a separate fee for the lap dance. Customers regularly paid dancers for commercial sex acts in the lap dance room. The sex acts would occur in semi-private booths. The defendants and their coconspirators understood and intended that a lap dance often involved dancers engaging in sex acts with the customers. The lap dance room was visible to the defendants and other employees of the club, who could see in the room or inspect what was going on inside. The defendants could also view the lap dance room through security cameras on screens in the back office of the Electric Blue.”

Further, “the dancers would perform dances or shows for customers in private rooms in the club, often referred to as the VIP room’ or the ‘Champagne room.’

“These rooms were separated from the rest of the club, giving the dancers and their customers privacy from the rest of the patrons. To enter a private room with a dancer, a customer had to pay a fee to the bar, typically $100-$150, often but not always paid for in cash.

“Customers would regularly pay dancers for commercial sex acts in the private rooms. The customers would pay the dancers directly, almost always in cash, for the commercial sex act. Many customers at the Electric Blue obtained some or all of the cash used to pay for entrance fees to the semi-private and private rooms and for commercial sex acts from dancers from ATMs on the premises. The defendants and their coconspirators knew and intended that customers would regularly use cash from the ATMs to pay for commercial sex acts.

“The $20 fee to enter the lap dance room and the $100-$150 fee to enter the private rooms, typically paid in cash, went to ‘the house,’ meaning these funds went to the defendants and their coconspirators. The dancers negotiated the fees paid for the lap dances or private shows and retained those fees, which were almost always paid in cash. In other words, the dancers performed sexual acts on their customers in return for the customers having paid ‘the house’ a fee, typically either $20 or $100- $150 depending on the level of privacy desired, along with paying the dancer a separate fee, sometimes hundreds of dollars or more, often with cash from the ATMs.”

“In addition, dancers sometimes travelled to locations away from the Electric Blue with customers to engage in commercial sex acts. Employees of the club, who worked for Denning and were managed by Baker, often drove dancers to the locations to engage in commercial sex acts, which were often paid for in cash.”

“To conceal the conspiracy and to conceal their knowing facilitation, promotion, and management of the commercial sex acts at the Electric Blue, the defendants and their coconspirators required the dancers to sign a contract before beginning employment at the club. The contract states, among other things, that dancers “must be clothed at all times;” “cannot be touched by any other person on the premises on the breasts, buttocks, anus, or genitals;” and “cannot perform Sexual Acts of any kind on the premises, regardless of whether the dancer has chosen to consensually perform such acts even at the dancer’s own free will.”

“The defendants and their coconspirators provided the dancers at the club with condoms for use during commercial sex acts at the club, each provision of condoms being a separate overt act. The defendants and their coconspirators required the dancers to sign a contract  before beginning work at the Electric Blue, each such signing being a separate overt act. ”

The indictment also charges the men with being “engaged in, and aided and abetted in, a practice and pattern of hiring for employment in the United States certain aliens whose identities are known to the Grand Jury, knowing that said aliens were unauthorized aliens (as defined in Title 8, United States Code, Section 1324a(h)(3)), with respect to such employment.”

The indictment also alleges there was a policy to “separate income earned at the Electric Blue through legitimate means, often derived from a customer paying for food or beverages with a credit or debit card, from income earned through illegal means such as prostitution, typically paid for in cash.”

“The defendants and their coconspirators caused as much as approximately $5,726,918.73 in material taxable business receipts not to be reported to the IRS, causing a total income tax underpayment of approximately $2,092,864.”

The indictment alleges Baker, as the Electric Blue as a manager and bookkeeper for the club, and at Denning’s direction, “compiled a monthly spreadsheet showing, among other things, the Electric Blue’s purported income.” Baker “included on this spreadsheet income generated from food and alcohol sales and other sources of income from the club, but purposefully omitted cash generated from private dances and commercial sex acts by dancers at the club.”

Electric Blue would allegedly “send the spreadsheets to the Electric Blue’s tax return preparer, who would report to the relevant authorities and prepare taxes on only the reported income. The income generated from the commission of commercial sex acts was not reported to the club’s tax return preparer, but instead would be put in envelopes that were placed in a safe that only” Denning could access.

Also, authorities allege, “Beginning at least as early as April 2020, and continuing through in or around July 2020, in the District of Connecticut and elsewhere,” Denning, “together with others known and unknown to the Grand Jury, knowingly and with intent to defraud, devised, participated in, and executed a scheme and artifice to defraud and to obtain money and property by means of materially false and fraudulent pretenses, representations, and promises, that is, Denning knowingly provided materially false information to the SBA in order to obtain an EIDL for his business, the Electric Blue, a strip club in Tolland, Connecticut, when, in fact, (he) knew that he was not eligible to receive an EIDL for such a business.” Electric Blue received an estimated  $149,900 from the SBA.

Local news | ‘wildly popular’: watch a new live fish cam that just debuted in south florida.

Pompano Beach has installed a high-resolution underwater webcam 15 feet below the Fisher Family Pier to livestream the high-definition video of the fish.

The webcam can be found at https://www.pompanobeachfl.gov/webcams .

The camera was a gift from Shipwreck Park, a nonprofit Pompano Beach corporation, which is behind underwater art exhibitions that both creates artificial reefs to attract fish — and attract divers looking for a great selfie.

Shipwreck Park consists of two dive sites that have artificial reefs, both about a mile off the Pompano Beach Coast: the Lady Luck and the Okinawa, both decommissioned ships that are located in what is billed as among the most easily accessible major dive sites in the U.S.

Since going live Tuesday, the livestream has been played 74,000 times by 58,000 people, said city spokeswoman Sandra King.

“The underwater camera is wildly popular,” King said. “It is mesmerizing and calming to listen to the water and watch the fish swim and get carried with a current. People have already started to call it Fishcam. One commented she wants to name one particular fish that keeps swimming in front of the camera!”

This is the third camera offered by Pompano Beach. One is on the beach, and the other is at Hillsboro Park at the inlet, although both of those are land views.

Pompano’s new camera has some resemblance to the popular webcam in neighboring Deerfield Beach . There, the underwater “Fish Cam” streams continuously day and night on the city’s YouTube page .

“Get ready to dive deep without getting wet!” Pompano Beach declared.

“It shows off another side of Pompano Beach — the beauty that exists here,” said Rob Wyre, Shipwreck Park chair.

The $25,000 camera “pans and zooms and tilts,” he said. “We can change the view to whatever is happening.”

Hudson River Ice Yacht Club trophy found in New Zealand

RHINECLIFF- A Loving Cup Trophy from 1904 was found in the North Haven Hospice Thrift Shop in Mangawhai, New Zealand, by a woman who had never heard of ice yachting nor the Hudson River Club.  Debi Shwer of Auckland, New Zealand was visiting Mangawhai, when she stopped into a thrift shop there.  The Sterling Cup caught her eye, and she was determined to find out more.

Contacting HRIYPT President Robert Wills through the organization’s website, she described her objective of learning more about ice yachting after seeing the inscription on the trophy.

“I was just visiting my mother in law in Mangawhai for Easter.  I wish I had a better look around (the thrift shop) because I was on a time limit from my husband waiting in the car!  I am honestly fascinated by how it ended up in a charity shop in Northland New Zealand,” she said.

Shwer purchased the trophy and sent it to the club where it now sits as a part of their collection.  The club plans is to loan it to an appropriate institution this winter where it can be displayed.

The Trophy was awarded on March 5, 1904, to the yacht “Rainbow”, a Hyde Park Ice Yacht Club boat owned by Capt. Owen Roberts, for winning a ten-mile race for Fourth Class Boats.  Future President Franklin Roosevelt’s boat “Hawk” came in second.

“Rainbow” was recorded in club books in 1903, and then again in 1910.  It was built by George Buckhout, preeminent ice yacht builder, in Poughkeepsie.  Subsequently, Capt. Roberts sailed the boat in 1912 out of the North Shrewsbury Ice Boat & Yacht Club in Red Bank, New Jersey, where it was outfitted with the most modern of hardware and sails, a “Marconi Rig” (the triangular sail used on most sailboats today), and renamed “Rainbow 2nd”.  It then disappears from the records, until it shows up in Wisconsin.

Recently offered for sale there, it was purchased by the Lawrence Family of Newburgh, New York, who have been competitive ice yacht racers and Hudson River Ice Yacht Club members for generations, and were instrumental in the restoration of “Jack Frost,” the 1880 multiple world champion ice yacht of Archibald Rogers of Hyde Park, New York, and still sailed today by the Hudson River Ice Yacht Club.
