About Blue Sky

Feadship Blue Sky is the first superyacht to be built by a Western shipyard for a client in mainland China. This 44.65m yacht was launched in a colourful ceremony that combined Chinese and Dutch maritime cultures with lion dancers included! In addition to her unique helicopter deck for a yacht of this length, Blue Sky must also be one of the first superyachts to have two separate areas for Chinese pastimes: the yacht’s sky deck lounge is a dedicated karaoke space with an 85-inch television, while the Mah-jong room is found aft of the wheelhouse and includes a state-of-the-art table that shuffles the tiles and deals the dice automatically.

Launched in 2013, the spectacular Blue Sky superyacht is an F45 Vantage luxury vessel, built by the prominent Dutch manufacturer, Feadship. The 44-metre motor yacht Blue Sky boasts both naval architecture as well as exterior design by De Voogt Naval Architects, with exterior styling by Feadship and Sinot Yacht Design. Her lovely interiors are designed by Bannenberg & Rowell and Sinot Yacht Design.

Her interior is styled by design house Gregotti Associati International and she was completed in 1994. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Mulder Design.

Blue Sky is built with a aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure. Prepare To Be Pleasantly Surprised By The Blue Sky Boatworks 360 Angler

Big enough to carry all your gear and then some

I have to admit, when I first saw pictures and videos of the Blue Sky boat I was skeptical. The catamaran-style hull and swivel pedestal seat powered by a pedal system looked like a frankenboat gone wild. So, I was anxious to check out the new ride at Paddlesports Retailer tradeshow in Madison, Wisconsin.

When I arrived to the Blue Sky booth to give the wild ride a test drive, I had to wait again, in a long line of other skeptics. As I watched the boat tool around the large pond at the demo day, I noticed skeptics were returning with smiles on their face. When it was my turn to take the boat for a ride, I was more than pleasantly surprised.

Stepping off the bank onto the wide deck the boat barely tottered. I settled into the seat that reminded me of sister company Jackson’s famous comfort throne. The seat can be moved forward and aft, up and down with control arms like an office chair. It even swivels like an office chair allowing the angler to fish 360 degrees.

The Blue Sky is powered by Jackson’s FD shaft-driven pedal drive. This gives the boat a shallow draft and a pedal unit that pops up when it hits an obstruction. According to the folks at Jackson, the Blue Sky’s narrow pontoons reduce drag to allow the pedal drive will push the Blue Sky faster than a traditional hull. One angler told me he’s reached speeds up to eight miles per hour. I can attest that the pedal system easily and smoothly pushed the boat.

The boat is controlled by a pair of rudders that operated with levers on either side of the seat. That means you can turn the boat with either the right or left hand.

The 360 Angler has 34 square feet of standing area, including a “front porch” and “back porch,” so there’s plenty of room for fishing accessories , electronics , gear and even a dog or kid. Blue Sky offers cool add-ons like a horizontal rod holder and even a mount for an electric motor.

The whole unit weighs about 130 pounds, but it breaks down into three sections for easy storage and transport. The boat moves quickly and easily with confident stability. With more hybrid motor/pedal/paddle boats hitting the market, the Blue Sky will appeal to serious anglers looking to cover a lot of water and carry a lot of gear .

It would be a great addition to the summer cottage or fishing lodge where anglers want to hit the water quick and easy to catch a lot of fish. After a couple laps in the Blue Sky, I was smiling too.

Bluesky Boatworks 360 Angler Mark IV: An Upgrade Worth Considering I recently upgraded from the first-year Bluesky Boatworks 360 Angler with the old flex drive to the latest model featuring the Mark IV drive. While the transition came with a few changes, overall, the improvements have made my fishing experience even more enjoyable. The initial purchase of my old Bluesky Boatworks 360 Angler left me impressed with the inclusion of the Orion cup, tackle boxes, and two rod holders. However, the Mark IV edition no longer includes Orion cup, tackle boxes but dose come with the rod holders, which was a bit disappointing. Nonetheless, the upgraded features make up for it. One of the standout improvements is the rudder system. The shift from the old plastic rudder to a sturdy aluminum one has proven to be a game-changer. The old rudder had a tendency to bend over time, affecting performance, while the new aluminum rudder provides enhanced durability and responsiveness. The Mark IV drive itself offers a smoother and faster kayaking experience compared to its predecessor. The technological advancements are evident, and I appreciate the increased efficiency during my outings. However, it's worth noting that my old e-drive, which was compatible with the old flex drive, is not compatible with the new Mark IV drive. This led me to sell my old Bluesky along with the e-drive. One unexpected hurdle was the change in the wheel bracket design. The new bracket lacked the angled cut that allowed for easy wheel placement on the old model. The result was wheels that dangled when lifted, posing a challenge during boat launches. Fortunately, I was able to find a workaround by swapping the front and rear brackets between my old and new Bluesky. This modification restored the convenient wheel functionality I had grown accustomed to. In conclusion, the Bluesky Boatworks 360 Angler Mark IV is a worthy upgrade for those seeking enhanced performance and durability. While some accessories may no longer be included, the overall improvements in the rudder system, drive efficiency, and build quality make it a solid investment for avid kayak anglers. Just be prepared for potential adjustments, such as bracket swaps, to maintain the same level of convenience for your wheel system.

As a disabled veteran who has been kayaking for several years, I had to face the reality as I got older of giving up my joy of being out on the water. I was no longer able to get into my kayak (Bonafide SS127) because of sitting too low and dealing with back issues. Then I discovered the Angler 360 and I am back on the water for 6-8 hours at a time, with no back issues and loving every minute of it. I can't say "thank you" enough for giving back my love of being on the water and the ability to fish. This is truly my therapy - physically and mentally.

I have had this platform for a few years and it has performed beyond expectations. Receives a lot of compliments and envied by many. I have the flexdrive as well as a garmin fish finder and micro anchor system. I also have proper running lights fitted for night fishing activities. I also use a standup paddle. Comes in handy. Speed will be 3+ mph dependingon conditions and load. Large stable deck and works in shallow as well as deeper waters. Rides well with boat wakes and higher breaking waves. Transports well in the truck bed and I do use a bed extender. Easy on and off. Easy entry and exit for the water especially at boat ramps. Great fishing kayak. Very convenient for one person to handle and transport. I do recommend it. If you want fast this will not be a good fit.

I own 2 Blue Sky's. The Angler 360 was my first one. I loved the boat so much but I am 67 years old and I got tired of peddling so I bought the 360 Pro. I added a MinnKota trolling motor and lithium troling battery to the Pro and I use it about 2 to 3 times a week. I never use the 360 Angler. Every time out I get many positive comments on the Pro. Also, the Flex Drive wears out quickly. The cable that runs from the lower unit to the prop grinds and squeeks. Grinding and squeeking when you are fishing does not work. It is a fantastic boat but the Flex Drive is the weak link. Go Pro!

Damn(can i say that here?) I love my boat! It’s the best fishing kayak I’ve ever owned. I’ve had a couple nice ones and they were great. But this thing is on another level for fishing and customizing. Blue sky boat works customer service is better than any I’ve encountered! I’m not a robot( most of the time)

Former prime minister Liz Truss has blamed her downfall on "deep resistance within the establishment" in an interview with Sky News. Meanwhile, Labour leader Keir Starmer has said the Tories have "lost any right" to call themselves patriotic.

People voting in local elections in England on 2 May will need to provide photo ID.

It is the second year the requirement has been in place - but in 2023,  14,000 people couldn't cast their ballot because they didn't take ID to the polling booth.

There are 22 different types of ID you can use - and if you don't have any of them, you can register for a Voter Authority Certificate.

Here's everything you need to know to avoid being caught out:

We have been reporting today that there's a lengthy list of MPs taking part in the London Marathon today - with one MP running for the 18th time ( see post at 11.27am ).

But none so far have taken the title for fastest-ever MP to run the race from Matthew Parris. 

In 1985, he ran the marathon in 2 hours, 32 minutes.

The Times columnist and former Conservative MP told Sky News he is "intensely proud, inordinately proud" at the achievement. 

"I would almost think it is the thing of which I am most proud in my entire political career," he said.

"I had trained so intensely. 

"Up hill, down dale - I would run into the House of Commons for a vote and run back after the vote."

He said he even got stopped by the police once running back from a vote. 

"It was a better result than I could have expected, so I was very proud," he said.

A power-sharing agreement between the SNP and the Greens at Holyrood is under threat after the Scottish government ditched a key climate change target.

The Scottish Green Party has said a vote on the deal, to be held at a forthcoming extraordinary general meeting (EGM), would be binding.

The date of the assembly and the crunch ballot has yet to be announced.

There is unhappiness among Green Party members after the SNP announced the Scottish government was scrapping its commitment to cut emissions by 75% by 2030. 

The Rainbow Greens, the party's LGBT wing, has also criticised the announcement, which came on the same day that the prescription of puberty blockers for new patients under the age of 18, at the gender identity service in Glasgow, would be paused.

The decision followed a landmark review of gender services for under-18s in England and Wales.

Scottish Greens co-leader Patrick Harvie said he would be urging members to back the power-sharing agreement so the party could "put Green values into practice" in government.

Writing on X, he said "many" members had been calling for an EGM to discuss the future of the agreement.

But Mr Harvie said: "As part of the Scottish government, we're making a difference on a far bigger scale than ever before."

Richard Tice, the leader of Reform UK, claimed Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is "not a real Conservative".

He pointed to the high tax burden and even went as far as calling Mr Sunak a "socialist".

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is "appalled" by an exchange at a pro-Palestinian protest in which the Met Police threatened to arrest an "openly Jewish" man, a government source has told Sky News.

Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley is facing calls to resign after antisemitism campaigner Gideon Falter was threatened with arrest near the protest march in London ( see post at 08.36am ).

Mr Falter, the chief executive of the Campaign Against Antisemitism, said Jewish Londoners cannot have confidence in the Met under Sir Mark's leadership and accused the commissioner of "victim blaming".

Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho earlier told Sky News the incident was "completely wrong" and that "what happens next" with regard to Sir Mark was a "matter for the Labour London mayor" ( see post at 08.40am ).

Sky News understands that Sir Mark does still retain the confidence of London mayor Sadiq Khan (see post at 11.46am) .

Liz Truss has much more in common with Donald Trump than just the first three letters of his surname.

Despite presenting themselves as "outsiders", both enjoyed substantial political careers and reached the top of their profession as prime minister of the UK and president of the United States respectively.

In both cases, their periods in power ended in ways that outraged their opponents and many in their own Conservative and Republican parties. Economic chaos brought on by her rash policies forced Truss out of office after just 49 days in 10 Downing Street.

Trump lost the 2020 election, refused to accept his defeat and praised the mob who stormed the Capitol in an attempt to keep him in the White House.

Many thought they were finished for good. But like those who had laughed at their ambitions earlier in their careers, the nay-sayers were wrong again. Both have been reprieved and continue to be respected as forces in their parties.

Conservative MP Mark Menzies has been suspended from the parliamentary party in light of allegations he abused local Tory party funds to pay off "bad people".

Mark Menzies strongly disputes the claims which also include accusations he used campaign funds to pay his personal medical bills.

On the Conservatives' investigation into the claims, Defence Secretary Grant Shapps told Sky News this week action was being taken "swiftly".

He added: "I think it is important to stress that the MP in question here denies the allegations and so on the basis of fairness and proper justice, I think it's important to mention that."

On the Sky News Daily, Niall Paterson is joined by political correspondent Darren McCaffrey to analyse how Westminster will cope with another scandal.

Plus, the Scottish government has come under fire for rowing back on its climate commitments.

Niall speaks to science correspondent Thomas Moore about the consequences of the government missing eight out of 12 of its annual climate commitments.

The head of the Met Police is to meet Jewish community leadership groups amid a row over the force threatening to arrest an "openly Jewish" man.

Sir Mark Rowley will meet representatives from the Board of Deputies of British Jews, the Jewish Leadership Council and Community Security Trust (CST). 

Confirming the meeting, the Board of Deputies of British Jews said they would be discussing this "serious issue".

Sir Mark is facing calls to resign after antisemitism campaigner Gideon Falter was threatened with arrest near a pro-Palestinian march in London ( see post at 08.36am ).

Campaign Against Antisemitism have told Sky News they are not attending the meeting.

Sky News understands the meeting is expected to take place on Thursday.

The Green Party stands at 6.5%, and the SNP on 3.1%.
