Yacht Club Games, the developer behind the Shovel Knight series , announced its next game at the Yacht Club Games Presents stream on Tuesday. The studio’s next title will be an original adventure inspired by the Game Boy Color. It’s called Mina the Hollower.
The game is still early in development, Yacht Club said, and the studio is seeking funding through a Kickstarter campaign that’s live now. “We want your feedback, collaboration, and support in making Mina the Hollower the best game it can possibly be,” the developers said.
The developers released a trailer alongside its Mina the Hollower reveal. In the game, you play as Mina, a mouse who fights her way through various dungeons using a whip and other items. Like Shovel Knight , Mina features an 8-bit art style — the game’s visuals look a lot like a souped-up version of the Game Boy Color game The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening from 1993. The Kickstarter page says that the team plans create a game that runs in “smooth 60 [frames-per-second] action combat.”
Yacht Club released the indie darling Shovel Knight in 2014 after a successful crowdfunding campaign. Since then, the iconic shovel-wielding knight has gone on to inspire a series of spinoffs games and sequels, and even get cameos in games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate . The team announced its other upcoming title, Shovel Knight Dig , in 2019. Yacht Club’s most recently released game, Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon , was released in 2021 across multiple platforms.

Mina The Hollower Is The Next Game From Shovel Knight Developer Yacht Club Games
Mina The Hollower's Kickstarter page is now live.
Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games has announced a brand-new title in the works called Mina The Hollower, an action adventure game with a Game Boy Color aesthetic reminiscent of old-school titles like Castlevania and The Legend of Zelda.
Yacht Club Games announced its new game during the Yacht Club Presents showcased that was teased last week. During the show, Yacht Club Games also announced that Mina the Hollower will have a Kickstarter and that those that want to contribute to the game's development can do so right now via its Kickstarter page .

According to the game's Kickstarter page, you play as Mina, an inventor who is tasked with traveling to Tenebrous Isle to fix some Spark Generators which have been destroyed in suspicious circumstances. With your Castlevania-esque whip, you'll battle monsters of varying sizes to discover the dark secrets of the island.
As with most Kickstarters, there are rewards for backers who contribute to the pot more than others. Donating $20 will get you a digital copy of the game when it releases while a sizable donation of $100 gets you a physical copy along with the chance to listen in on design meetings.
Thanks to this physical copy reward tier, we know that Yacht Club games has plans to bring Mina the Hollower to all platforms, although the developer does note that the platforms shown are "subject to change." We also have a very vague release date as rewards are expected to go out during December 2023, although it's also quite likely this is just a placeholder date.
If you're a Shovel Knight fan and were hoping that a sequel was going to be announced today, have no fear as Yacht Club Games has stated that it isn't giving up on the franchise just yet and has long-term plans in the series. It's possible that a full-blown sequel to Shovel Knight is in the works, but for now, Mina the Hollower is all the rage.

Mina the Hollower Is Shovel Knight Studio Yacht Club Game's Next Project
Yacht Club Games, creators of Shovel Knight have announced it's working on a new IP called Mina the Hollower, and like her platforming predecessor, Mina looks to build upon some classic inspirations.
Unveiled during a presentation on G4 this afternoon called Yacht Club Games Presents, Mina the Hollower is a new title that shares elements of The Legend of Zelda and Castlevania. Not straying far from Shovel Knight's retro aesthetics, Mina looks like it was ripped from the Game Boy Color era. As Mina, you'll be whipping enemies, burrowing into the ground, and equipping various sidearms and trinkets to survive and save a cursed island full of deadly baddies and bosses.
Like Shovel Knight before it, Yacht Club Games is starting a Kickstarter campaign for Mina, but don't worry; the studio is fronting most of the funds to make the project a reality. In the press release provided to Game Informer , Director Alec Faulkner spoke about why the Kickstarter is being utilized again, saying, “We want your feedback, collaboration, and support in making Mina the Hollower the best game it can possibly be." Alec continues, "Though we’re financing a majority of this project ourselves, we hope we can create a more expansive game this way. More importantly, we want to build a community around Kickstarter, much like we did with Shovel Knight. We also want to share our development process, more than ever before!”
To sweeten the deal for backers, Yacht Club is partnering with Fangamer to create physical rewards such as "a physical soundtrack, enamel pins, an art book, and an adorable plush."
No release date has been given for Mina the Hollower, but we hope to be whipping and digging soon. For more info on the Kickstarter and its backer rewards and goals, head over to the Mina the Hollower project page . Yacht Club still has some Shovel Knight projects in the works, with Shovel Knight Dig on the horizon and updates to Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon coming soon.

Shovel Knight Devs’ Next Game Is A Mash-Up Of Link’s Awakening And Castlevania
Yacht club games revealed a new project, mina the hollower , and updates on its other games.
Yacht Club Games is working on a new project which, for the first time in the indie studio’s history, has nothing to do with Shovel Knight . It’s called Mina the Hollower , it’s a retro-homage to Game Boy classics like Link’s Awakening , and in a weird twist, Yacht Club is going back to Kickstarter to help fund development.

Mina the Hollower was revealed as part of the Yacht Club Games Presents event on G4 today, which showed the 8-bit inspired top-down adventure game in action. You play as a mouse navigating dungeons and taking down enemies with a whip. There are traps, hidden secrets, and the ability to burrow underground to evade attacks and side-step obstacles. Basically, it’s the proven Yacht Club formula applied to a new genre.
“Though we’re financing a majority of this project ourselves, we hope we can create a more expansive game this way,” designer Alec Faulkner said in a press release. “More importantly, we want to build a community around Kickstarter, much like we did with Shovel Knight .”
Yacht Club asked backers for $75,000 for Shovel Knight back in 2013, but ended up raising over $300,000. Shovel Knight came out a year later, was very good , and went on to spawn four expansions and two spin-offs. The studio also shared updates on two of those games during its G4 presentation.
December’s excellent connect-three puzzle game Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon will get a slew of new updates in the future. The first is a free one that will add a new playable character called Random Knight, bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and more accessibility options. Three DLC packs will follow that will expand the game further with new power-ups and unlockables, as well as adding official mod support and an online versus mode.
Yacht Club also showed off a new level from its upcoming Shovel Knight game, Shovel Knight Dig . A collaboration with fellow indie studio Nitrome, the side-scrolling roguelite had to be delayed but is apparently “in the final stages of development and nearing completion.” Mina the Hollower , meanwhile, is still “in the thick of development,” and still a ways out from release.

Yacht Club Games Announces Its Next Game, Mina the Hollower
Yacht Club Games is best known as the studio behind the hit indie game Shovel Knight. The game was the result of an extremely successful Kickstarter campaign that was able to reach all of its goals. In the years following the game’s release, the company has started to develop and publish other games. During their Yacht Club Games Presents event today , they unveiled their next game, Mina the Hollower.
Yacht Club Games Returns to Kickstarter
Mina the Hollower is a tribute to classic video games with an 8-bit art design and top-down perspective. Players control Mina, a mouse who fights enemies using a whip while navigating dungeons. This is their first game that has nothing to do with Shovel Knight. Yacht Club Games will be using Kickstarter to fund Mina the Hollower.
After announcing the game during their Yacht Club Games event on today’s episode of X-Play, it went live on Kickstarter. Within an hour, it reached $100,000. Alec Faulkner, the game’s designer, had this to say about Kickstarter: “Though we’re financing a majority of this project ourselves, we hope we can create a more expansive game this way. More importantly, we want to build a community around Kickstarter, much like we did with Shovel Knight.”
Mina the Hollower is still in development but now that it has raised a large amount of money through Kickstarter, it will likely be for a while.

Bayer Leverkusen set European record with longest unbeaten run, through to Europa League final
Bayer Leverkusen ’s 2-2 draw against Roma in the Europa League on Thursday night means the German side have gone 49 games unbeaten and broken the record for the longest streak without losing to a European club since the introduction of UEFA club competitions in 1955.
Leverkusen were leading their tie against Roma by two goals following the opening clash, but looked set to lose their first game of the season after two penalties from Leandro Paredes had put the Italian club ahead.

An own goal from Gianluca Mancini in the 82nd minute, however, and a 97th-minute equaliser from Josip Stanisic ensured Leverkusen progressed to the Europa League final following a 4-2 aggregate victory.
Stanisic’s goal, meanwhile, was Leverkusen’s 17th scored in stoppage time this season.
Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka said to TNT Sports: “This is football. It is the nice part of football. For the mentality we showed again today against a big team to come back like this and go through to the final. We are more than happy today.
“You see the desire from the team, we didn’t want to slow down. We wanted to score the next goal to keep going unbeaten, 49 times now. We are proud of it.”
The unbeaten run, which is across all competitions and started with an 8-0 victory over FC Teutonia Ottensen in the German Cup on August 12, has surpassed Portuguese club Benfica’s mark of 48 consecutive games without losing from December 1963 to February 1965.
That Benfica team was spearheaded by Eusebio and they won the Portuguese league and cup over the course of their unbeaten run.
Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen side have avoided defeat in 32 Bundesliga games, five German Cup matches and 12 Europa League games. They have won 40 of these matches.
Unsurprisingly, this has left them on the brink of a treble. They have already won the Bundesliga — ending Bayern Munich’s 11-season dominance as a result — face second-tier Kaiserslautern in the German Cup final on May 25 and Atalanta in the Europa League final on May 22.
If Leverkusen also avoid defeat in their final two league games they will become the first side in Bundesliga history to go a whole season unbeaten.
Here are the five longest unbeaten runs by a European club since 1955:

2024 PGA Championship picks, odds, field: Surprising predictions by advanced golf model that nailed 11 majors
Sportsline's proven model simulated the pga championship 2024 10,000 times and revealed its surprising golf picks.
Brooks Koepka will begin his title defense when the 2024 PGA Championship gets underway on Thursday, May 16, at Valhalla Golf Club. Koepka, who finished two strokes ahead of Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland last year to record his fifth major championship, will try to repeat as champion for the second time in his career (2018-19). Tiger Woods, meanwhile, will attempt to match Jack Nicklaus and Walter Hagen for most victories (five) at the PGA Championship. Scheffler, the reigning Masters champion and the No. 1-ranked player in the world, is the 3-1 favorite in the latest 2024 PGA Championship odds. He's followed by Rory McIlroy (6-1) and Koepka (10-1) on the PGA odds board.
Should your 2024 PGA Championship picks include backing one of the favorites, or should you target a longshot like Woods (125-1) or Jordan Spieth (55-1)? Before locking in any 2024 PGA Championship picks of your own, entering PGA DFS lineups on sites like DraftKings or FanDuel, or finalizing PGA Championship props and PGA Championship Pick Six entries, be sure to see the 2024 PGA Championship golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .
Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up almost $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.
McClure's model correctly predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and The Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000.
The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022.
In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.
This same model has also nailed a whopping 11 majors entering the weekend and hit the Masters three straight years. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.
Now with the PGA Championship 2024 field taking shape, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard .
Top 2024 PGA Championship predictions
One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 PGA Championship: Brooks Koepka, a three-time PGA champion and one of the top favorites, stumbles and doesn't even crack the top 10. Koepka has five major tournament wins on his resume and a reputation for elevating his level of play in big events. However, his last two major starts haven't gone well as he was 45th at the Masters, which followed a 64th-place finish at last year's Open Championship. He's failed to shoot par in each of his last seven rounds at major tournaments.
After notching three tournament wins in 2023, including last year's PGA Championship, it has been tough sledding for Koepka in 2024. He has no victories, or even top-fives, and across his six starts, he has three times as many finishes outside the top 25 (three) as he has inside the top 10 (one). He played Valhalla at the 2014 PGA Championship and finished in a tie for 15th place, but that placement ranks just eighth out of his 11 career PGA Championship starts. See who else to fade here .
Another surprise: Collin Morikawa, a 25-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Morikawa won his first major championship at the PGA Championship in 2020. He's racked up six career victories on the PGA Tour, which includes two major championships.
The 27-year-old will also enter the 2024 PGA Championship full of confidence after securing a top-10 finish in two of his last three individual starts on the PGA Tour, including a third-place showing at the Masters in April. Morikawa is currently ranked second in driving accuracy (78.77%), 12th in one-putt percentage (43.97%) and 18th in birdie average (4.31), making him a strong value pick for your 2024 PGA Championship bets, according to the model. See who else to back here .
How to make 2024 PGA Championship picks
The model is also targeting four other golfers with odds of 25-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .
Who will win the 2024 PGA Championship, and which longshots will stun the golfing world? Check out the PGA Championship 2024 odds below and then visit SportsLine to see the projected PGA Championship leaderboard, all from the model that's nailed 11 golf majors, including the last three Masters .
