What does byredo mojave ghost smell like, how long does byredo mojave ghost last, when to wear byredo mojave ghost, how many sprays of byredo mojave ghost is enough, where to buy byredo mojave ghost, summary — is byredo mojave ghost worth it.

Although Byredo Mojave Ghost was launched in 2014, I recently managed to get my hands on it, and it definitely matched my expectations.

An interesting fact is that the inspiration for Mojave Ghost was actually Mojave Desert (North America) and since the name itself promised a lot, the high expectations were set right at the beginning as the story was similar to L’Air du Desert Marocain, where Andy Tauer created the fragrance with a scent of Marocain desert.

Byredo is a Swedish perfume production company that released Mojave Ghost in 2014 a floral-oriented unisex fragrance that definitely stood out with its perfect blend and smooth scent.

What does it actually smell like, how does it perform, and is it actually worth it? Let’s see in a detailed review.

Byredo Mojave Ghost smells like a floral-sweet scent with a combination of woodiness and ambrette — this fragrance leaves a unique trace of bright and addicting aroma. It’s a unisex fragrance with linear projection and calming effect.

The main component of this alluring fragrance is actually sapodilla, the fruit from Central America, and the magnolia flower that can be found in heart notes. Woody notes can also be sensed but definitely in a less strong volume.

According to Byredo, concentration of Mojave Ghost is eau de parfum (EDP) and the notes are:

  • Ambrette (Musk Mallow)

Heart notes:

Base notes:

  • Chantilly Musk
  • Crisp Amber

Byredo described Mojave Ghost very poetically: “Mojave Ghost is a woody composition inspired by the soulful beauty of the Mojave Desert. In this xeric wilderness, rare are the plants that dare to blossom. With a light and graceful character top notes of musky Ambrette combine with fresh Jamaican Nesberry. Powdery Violet then unfurls to reveal Sandalwood. Finally, warm Chantilly Musk rounds out a base of crisp Amber and Cedar wood, leaving the raw spirit of Mojave Ghost to linger on the skin.”

…and truth be told, that’s pretty much what Mojave Ghost is like.

What made this fragrance so special is the brightness and lightness that it carries along the way. The sweet notes, such as sapodilla, magnolia, and violet, give this perfume a flowery effect that is very easily validated right with the first spray. Even though sapodilla is not mentioned in the notes pyramid, it can clearly be sensed.

The significant difference that separates Mojave Ghost from other flowery scents is a momentous touch of woodiness (especially coming from cedarwood) that is not so strong, but it is still present and it fills up the missing flick of this alluring fragrance.

Violet, from heart notes, can also be noticed, and even though this fragrance has a lot of “girly” tones, the whole composition is so heavenly blended that you cannot say it’s not for men. I tested it personally for over a month, and it’s most certainly a unisex fragrance that fits both genders very well.

Because of the amber, this fragrance will stick very close to your skin, and as earlier said, it’s very linear.

byredo mojave ghost notes pyramid

Basically, what you get in the first 15 minutes, you will have for the rest of the time that fragrance stays on your skin.

The initial smell that feels so bright and airy leaves you with a sense of calmness — it’s a light and well-rounded scent and can serve as your daily go-to fragrance.

The only change that I noticed is a little touch of muskiness at the edge of disappearing, so if you wear it long enough, you will probably smell it as well.

Mojave Ghost it’s not a sharp and not in-your-face type of fragrance, but as the name indicates, it leaves traces of uniqueness that will follow your every step.

To be honest, I cannot compare this scent to any other fragrance I know, so if you want to smell unique, Byredo Mojave Ghost will most certainly serve the purpose.

Mojave Ghost usually lasts around 7 hours with 2-3 hours of solid projections and sillage.

Byredo isn’t known for eternal longevity in their fragrances, which Mojave Ghost proves. Depending on the situation when and where you want to wear it, you may be required to apply it multiple times over hours.

However, even though longevity, in general, is around 7 hours, people will be able to smell it around you for about 3-4 hours , right after projections expires. After that time, Byredo Mojave Ghost becomes a very closed and private scent, that only the ones closest to you that come to whisper sweet nothing will be able to sense it.

The reason why Mojave Ghost closes after a few hours is the amber note that by default is the note that sits very close to you.

Projection is fair and as we said, you will get no more than 2-3 hours of it, which is completely fine as this is not the type of fragrance that is meant to be noticed by everyone.

With that being said, the silage is pretty moderate, maybe even weak , and Byredo Mojave Ghost definitely isn’t the perfume you want to wear when looking for attention.

Getting the most out of your fragrance is something you should definitely learn, so I’d recommend checking out our guide on the best ways to increase the longevity and performance of your perfume .

If you are someone who likes intimate, bright, and airy scents, then Byredo Mojave Ghost will do the job perfectly.

Mojave Ghost is a fragrance that is best to wear during spring and summer, so preferably for warmer, brighter days. It’s a great daytime fragrance that can be a perfect choice for office, and coffee breaks, but also vacation days.

Because of its calming and non-offensive texture, this fragrance has pretty wide versatility.

I like to wear it during my work-free days, but it is also a great choice for the office as well since it’s very intimate and will not bother anyone.

Byredo Mojave Ghost is a scent that should be used during summer and spring because flowery and sweet notes just fit perfectly in high temperatures. It’s definitely not the fragrance for fall and winter, and colder days in general, as lower temperatures won’t let it open and perform properly.

The scent of Byredo Mojave Ghost gives a bit more adult feeling, and it definitely doesn’t fit teenagers, high-schoolers, or younger people in general. The scent itself asks a wearer to be a bit more mature.

byredo mojave ghost

When applying Byredo Mojave Ghost it’s best to use 3 to 4 sprays since this fragrance can be overused. Too many sprays will not allow it to open and perform properly, so in the case of Mojave Ghost, less is more.

Fragrance can massively change if you apply it multiple times on the same spot.

If you want proper opening and performance then be careful with Mojave Ghost since this fragrance may get an unpleasant creamy note when it’s over-applied.

So, to get the best out of Mojave Ghost you should go with a few sprays: 2 behind your ears and 2 sprays in the dips of the collarbone.

Do not get confused since even if you apply more sprays, you will not get better projection and silage. That is a very common mistake many people do, but if you want to learn how to avoid all application mistakes and where to spray your perfume exactly, check our guide here .

To be sure what works best for you, try it for yourself since every skin reacts differently to perfume.

The best place to get Mojave Ghost is the local perfumery which is an authorized reseller of the Byredo brand. When it comes to online shoppers, you can get it from Byredo’s official website, Amazon, FragranceX, and FragranceNet.

As I always recommend, to make sure that Byredo Mojave Ghost (or any other fragrance as well) is a perfect choice for you, you should visit some local perfumery that is an authorized reseller of Byredo. That way you will gain the advantage of testing it on your skin before making a decision instead of risk making a bad blind buy.

If you’re buying online (and you love blind buys just as I do), then I’d advise making a purchase from trusted sources – I personally get all my fragrances from FragranceNet and they’ve been amazing with their discounts, and shipping times.

byredo mojave ghost promotional image

Besides that, few other trustworthy sources where you can buy Mojave Ghost are:

  • Byredo official website

You can rest assured that you will get the original bottle of Mojave Ghost if you order from any of these sources. However, you may find differences in prices which is okay considering that all 4 sources have different shipping policies.

FragranceX and FragranceNet are known fragrance discounters, but I personally purchased almost all my fragrances from them, and I never got a fake.

Speaking of fakes, always be aware when buying online, as perfumes and fragrances are often the subject of copycats and scammers. With these sources you can be safe you will get what you paid for and sleep peacefully, knowing you were not scammed!

White, simple, elegant, and clean are the words that fit the best description of Byredo Mojave Ghost packaging. As with every other fragrance from this collection, Mojave Ghost follows the collective appearance and it looks great.

Mojave Ghost comes in white cardboard that consists of the name of the fragrance, the name of the brand and the brand logo as well.

Once the cardboard is removed, you get a simple, white box that just screams elegant. The box has the name and the type of the fragrance, logos, and also two, stylish stickers on both sides that need to be removed in order to open the box.

As I said, every fragrance from that collection follows the theme, so Mojave Ghost comes in a transparent box, with a black cap and white label.

The atomizer has an engraved B letter on the top of it, and it does a pretty good job as well.

It comes in two sizes:

The entire packaging reminds me of the simplicity Frederic Malle fragrances have. All in all, the bottle and packaging of this perfume are beautiful, and if you are like me and you love to have your fragrance represented on the shelf, you won’t be disappointed.

Considering the price, structure, story, and scent itself, Byredo Mojave Ghost is definitely worth having in the arsenal when warmer spring and summer days arrive.

Mojave Ghost is a masterpiece in its own way. The smell you get from only a few sprays leaves a unique and interesting trace on your body and it cannot be compared with any other scents out there.

This sweet, bright, and fruity fragrance represents an intimate composition that evokes calmness and makes you feel relaxed and light.

It’s a unisex mixture that can be pulled off by any man or woman with great taste and a love for airy perfumes.

Since the name suggests a lot, this fragrance will follow you throughout your long journeys and even though it will not pop out from everywhere, the pleasant smell will stay close to your skin to remind you how delightful you smelled the whole day.

It may not be a dominant and striking type of perfume but it has distinctive magic to it that can easily become your everyday go-to fragrance.

As a longtime Byredo fan, I admittedly found it a little difficult to narrow down the brand’s buzziest scents, but I’ve handpicked a few that beauty enthusiasts agree no collection should be without. From floral favorites (like the freesia- and vetiver-noted La Tulipe ) to cozier scents (like one of my personal favorites, Eleventh Hour ), there’s a holy-grail fragrance waiting in the wings for just about everyone.

Make discovering a new go-to blend even easier—and a lot faster!—by shopping our short list of the best Byredo perfumes, ahead.

Bal D’Afrique’s unique African marigold, violet, and Moroccan cedarwood blend is inspired by Paris during the late ’20s. The versatile scent nicely starts off bright and citrusy, and later dries down with a smokier finish.

There's a reason we named Mojave Ghost one of the sexiest fragrances of all time : Not only is its woody, floral blend just plain intoxicating, it also works for any season.

We’re betting you’ve already experienced Gypsy Water’s clean, fresh scent. But for those new to Byredo’s best sellers, allow us to introduce you to your new signature perfume. Featuring notes of bergamot, incense, and sandalwood, Gypsy Water is basically the It girl among the brand’s scents.

If you already own Byredo’s Bibliothèque candle , you’ll be an instant fan of its personal fragrance version. Its peach, plum, leather, and patchouli notes are reminiscent of the crisp pages of a book (in a good way).

The only thing better than receiving a big, beautiful bouquet of flowers is wearing this rhubarb-, freesia-, and tulip-scented fragrance on a regular basis. While its notes are perfect to wear through the entirety of spring, die-hard floral fans will probably opt to spritz it on all year.

Eleventh Hour’s warm fruity notes of bergamot, rum, and tonka bean make it easy to go back to again and again once the weather gets cool. Since the perfume’s blend is so inviting, its scent adds a little something extra to any holiday gathering.

Developed as an olfactory tribute to selflessness and compassion, this scent gets its name from a nickname given by soldiers to WWI nurses. And since Rose of No Man’s Land contains both Turkish rose petals and Turkish rose absolute, you can consider it a tribute to lovers of rose scents , too.

Here’s a fragrance that combines the best of each world when it comes to fruity, gourmand , and earthy scents. Woodsy notes like papyrus and violet leaves pair with sweeter cassis and black currant for a balanced blend.

1996 wasn’t just a great year for brown lip shades: This woody, black pepper, leather, and patchouli scent expertly captures the essence of the ’90s in a bottle.

If you prefer to keep your perfume rotation on the minimal side, consider adding Byredo’s Blanche eau de parfum to your lineup. It contains notes like pink pepper, white rose, neroli, and musk that are meant to signify an appreciation for classic beauty.

Byredo Slow Dance Eau de Parfum

Slow Dance Eau de Parfum

Each Byredo perfume tells a story. Slow Dance’s warm geranium, violet, and patchouli notes aim to bottle the feeling of a rite of passage for girls and boys before moving into adulthood. We recommend layering it with another vanilla-noted fragrance for ultimate sensorial impact.

Byredo Mojave Ghost

The nectar-less ghost flower ( mohavea confertiflora ) that grows in the Mojave and Sonoran deserts has ingenious strategies for attracting pollinators: it mimics the appearance of another desert flower with lots of nectar, and the ghost flower's center markings are shaped like a female bee ( Xeralictus) —  here come the male bees to do their work!

It's a difficult assignment for a perfumer to mimic the scent of a wild, desert flower. The desert flowers I've smelled possess a "certain something" I've never encountered in perfumes; they have "clear," fresh and clean aromas, with floral and fruity aspects that are hard to describe, let alone duplicate. I imagine a successful desert flower scent would smell fantastic, but wouldn't last too long on skin. Byredo Mojave Ghost 1 attempts to mimic the scent of an exotic flower's perfume and to attract pollinators (buyers) but it's only partly successful. With Mojave Ghost, Byredo has a great name and imagery to draw upon, but has created an insipid fragrance that's more department store than niche.

Mojave Ghost opens with a rich and warm fruit accord; a combo of mamey and peach. These fruit notes are sweet, and soon more sweetness arrives with the scents of vanilla, and vanillic "chantilly" musk and amber. At times, I get hints of cedar and wood shavings (the sandalwood, perhaps), but never do magnolia or violet materialize, only a character-less, artificial "flower" note. As it dries on skin, Mojave Ghost's fruit notes become overripe, sour (the aroma is like the scent of very tangy peach yogurt); the extreme dry down smells stale. Mojave Ghost has so-so sillage and lasting power and, to my nose, is feminine, not unisex.

ghost flower

If you want to smell a real ghost flower, the blooming season is almost here; those of you in California, Nevada and western Arizona are close to the action. If you've smelled a ghost flower, please share your descriptions of its scent.

Byredo Mojave Ghost is available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum, $145/$220 ( truly , aspirational pricing!) For buying information, see the listing for Byredo under Perfume Houses .

1. Fragrance notes of: ambrette, mamey sapote, violet, magnolia, sandalwood, chantilly musk, 'crisp' amber, cedarwood.

Too bad. The name alone had me thinking this would be a good one. Unfortunately I’ve never been to the desert in springtime but I would love to see Death Valley in bloom some day.

' src=

I’ve seen Death Valley in bloom. I don’t remember any Ghost Flowers, but it was still beautiful and a great experience. That place is so cool with or without flowers.

' src=

Jonas: I lived in L.A. for almost 15 years and never went to Death Valley either! Next time I’m in So Cal in late winter/early spring, I’m going.

' src=

Anza Borrego State Park in SoCal is amazing when the wildflowers / cacti bloom in spring!

' src=

It is! I’ve gone a couple times. This year should be good since we got a good amount of rain this winter, but don’t think I’ll be able to make it out.

' src=

I haven’t smelled this particular cactus, but the other cactus flowers I’ve smelled were indeed wonderful. I hope you do a field trip and report back, Kevin!

Noz: hope so too!

' src=

I got a sample of this as part of a free gift for the Beauty Event at Neiman Marcus. I was excited to try this since I have never experienced a Byredo fragrance. It must not have been too great, because I can’t remember what it smelled like. It definitely didn’t “wow” me.

scentfromabove: Byredo Pulp remains my favorite from the line…hope they have not fiddled with the formula since it was released. It’s been on my to-buy list for ages. HA!

' src=

Pulp is my favourite too. Got a FB for Christmas and absolutely love it.

' src=

Here in Florida we have some cacti that seem to attch themselves to Palm trunks (or light poles!) and are tall and slender with short unimpressive “stickers.” But at certain times of the year and in the dead of night they explode into blooms that are a gorgeous creamy yellow to incandescent white. They bloom only for about a week or two and they don’t really have any scent that I could discern. The apartment I lived in my youth had them frowing up all the palms on the property- just beautiful!

Too bad the perfume doesn’t measure up to the real thing.

Oh, that would be “growing” not “frowing” – Dang autocorrect!!

Deva…night-blooming cereus? Many of them are very fragrant…and gorgeous!

Holy Cow! You know your cacti young man! I just googled night blooming cereus and that’s it! Don’t remember it having and scent, though I could have completely forgotten by now. I do remember how beautiful those blooms were, and all the more so as they were so short lived.

' src=

Awww, I like this one – I find it a fun warm weather fruity-musky thing. I’m a fairly big Byredo fan, however. I wore my Palermo sample today. I also have Bal d’Afrique hand cream, and Gypsy Water body lotion and fragrance.

Springpansy, Oh, forgot about Bal d’Afrique…like that one.

' src=

You’re right Kevin, Mojave Ghost does have a great name and associated imagery. I’d love a fragrance that could conjure up the feeling of Byredo’s ad.

uday: wish comme des garcons would try its hand at a “desert flower”…could be interesting!

Even better, a desert series…

' src=

I completely missed the fact that the name was referencing a flower! I assumed it was meant to be a haunting, arid perfume; possibly with a comic dimension. In fact – the fact that its a flower is kind of disappointing – but then again, so is the perfume itself 🙂

' src=

This is incredible on my skin! When I tried it first time, I fell in love, this is my scent. I don’t care Byredo created better than this, if you can smell on me, you must say: great 🙂 Wood, woody and wood again with a dry-powderly flowers.

' src=

I really love this perfume. I even had a lady embarrass me by loudly proclaiming I smell amazing and she wanted to stand next to me all day so she could smell me. It is kind of expensive for me though.

One of my personal favourite fragrance houses is that of Byredo. Their perfumes are alluring, captivating and absolutely beautiful while also being produced using only the finest ingredients.

Here in this review, I will guide you on a journey through my selection of the Byredo fragrances. We will begin with a short trip back in time to the establishment of this renowned fragrance house along with a brief overview of its founder. After that, I will give you my take on the 12 best Byredo perfumes and help you with deciding which of these lovely scents you should add to your fragrance collection.

Background of Byredo

Byredo is a Swedish fashion house that was founded by Ben Gorham in 2006 and is known globally for its luxurious fragrances and leather goods. Although Ben’s birthplace was Sweden, he grew up between New York, Toronto, and Stockholm, allowing him to gain exposure to various cultures and fashion scenes.

However, unlike most founders of international fragrance houses, Ben actually studied art before being inspired by famed perfumer Pierre Wulff. He subsequently began his pursuit of a career in the art of aromatic expression.

Through keen use of his artistic and creative abilities, Gorham collaborated with two experienced perfumers to launch the Byredo fragrance house. Byredo perfumes are pure expressions of an artist’s emotions that have been carefully translated into some of the most sophisticated aromas available. Of the many fragrances in their collection, here are the 12 that I feel are simply the best Byredo perfumes available today.

1. Byredo Rose Noir Eau de Parfum

Byredo Rose Noir Eau de Parfum

Rose Noir Eau de Parfum was introduced by Byredo in 2008 as a floral woody musk perfume with unisex appeal. The usual brightness of rose is whisked into the dark side with additions of musk and other steamier aromas.

The scent opens with bright citrus and a welcome bouquet of rose . It is fresh, yet warming once the fragrance settles it’s rounded out by a woody, earthy base.

Oddly I felt this perfume is best worn in the daytime rather than night, perhaps due to the sparkling citrus top notes. Certainly one for the cooler months of spring and autumn due to the combination of rose and musk.

I found the longevity of this fragrance is long-lasting, 5+ hours on my skin and longer on clothing.

The bottle design is a simple glass cylinder with a black, cone-shaped top.

Freesia, Grapefruit

Damask Rose

Base Notes:

Labdanum, Oakmoss, Musk

Season To Wear

Season Spring, Autumn

2. Byredo Slow Dance Eau de Parfum

Byredo Slow Dance Eau de Parfum

The inspiration for Slow Dance Eau de Parfum is the transitional stage into full-blown adulthood. It is a sensual and intimate fragrance.

With dominant notes of sweet/warming opoponax & a trio of floral (geranium, violet, and labdanum) this scent is nicely complemented by a bae of warm spiciness for added complexity. The incense, patchouli and vanilla really shine throughout.

This in an autumn/winter fragrance in my opinion due to the warming incense and vanilla in particular.

The longevity of this fragrance is fairly long lasting, 4+ hours on skin.

The classic presentation of a cylindrical glass bottle topped by a black, rounded cone allows you to easily add this perfume to your Byredo suite.

Cognac, Opoponax

Geranium, Violet, Labdanum

Patchouli, Incense, Vanilla

Seasons Autumn Winter

3. Byredo Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum

Byredo Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum

Byredo’s Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum is easily one of their best fragrances. Since its introduction in 2008, it has been celebrated by both women and men for its alluring qualities.

This is a sexy fragrance. Woody, aromatic, and balsamic notes combine to introduce a wonderfully warm scent that is freshened up by the addition of fresh citrus and hints of spice. For me it was the upfront lemon & pepper, plus pine, woody and vanilla that really stood out.

In my opinion this perfume is best worn as a daytime scent during the spring and autumn seasons.

I found the longevity of this fragrance was low compared to others in the range, 3+ hours my skin. The fragrance is lovely so makes up for it, so was happy to reapply.

The signature Byredo cylindrical glass bottle is employed here.

Bergamot, Pepper, Lemon, Juniper

Orris Root, Incense, Pine Needles

Sandalwood, Amber, Vanilla

Longevity 3+ hours

4. Byredo Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum

Byredo Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum

Byredo’s Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum is a lovely oriental perfume that was first introduced in 2014. Its inspiration comes from a “ghost” flower that grows in the Mojave desert with virtually no water and without pollination.

The scent is such a combination of notes and intensified as the hours progress. It’s floral (notes of magnolia and violet), fruity ( sapodilla ), woody and almost powdery at first, followed by the warmth of amber and musk.

This perfume is best worn during the sunny days of the spring and summer seasons. I would even be as bold to say autumn as it has a fruity side.

This is a long-lasting fragrance, at least 5+ hours.

This lovely scent is presented in the classic Byredo cylindrical glass with a rounded top.

Sapodilla, Ambrette

Magnolia, Sandalwood, Violet

Ambergris, Cedar

Season Spring, Summer, Autumn

5. Byredo Bibliotheque Eau de Parfum

Byredo Bibliothèque Eau de Parfum

Bibliotheque Eau de Parfum is simply one of the best Byredo perfumes that I have ever tried. Having been launched in 2017, it is one of the newest additions to the Byredo fragrance portfolio. This highly sought after aroma was previously only available in candle form.

The scent opens up nicely with fruity and powdery notes, followed by the subtle warmth of leather and musk. Hints of floral sweetness linger throughout but don’t hold up. I layered it with Idôle Eau de Parfum by Lancôme to get a more balanced scent and the combination really shined.

As this is a fruity/leathery/vanilla fragrance, I feel this perfume is best worn during autumn/winter, day or night.

The longevity of this fragrance is rated as long-lasting, staying on the skin for about 5+ hours.

This scent is presented in the signature Byredo glass bottle with a rounded black cap.

Peach, Plum

Peony, Violet

Musk, Patchouli, Leather, Vanilla

6. Byredo Oud Immortel Eau de Parfum

Byredo Oud Immortel Eau de Parfum

Oud Immortel Eau de Parfum is a beautifully complex element of the Byredo suite of perfumes. The star of this aromatic cocktail is the agarwood, commonly referred to as oud, which is derived from a resin that forms as a result of mold in the trunk of a tree. It has since become one of the most widely utilized components of everything from incense to cologne.

The scent is a satisfyingly warm blend of woody oud notes that dance gracefully with dashes of balsamic, citrus, and warm spice accents. The addition of tobacco leaf lends a smoky quality to this unique fragrance.

This perfume is best worn during the cool days and nights of the autumn and winter seasons.

The longevity of this fragrance was long-lasting, 6+ hours and I could still experience the tobacco , incense and patchouli. There was even the slight lemon zing still which is unusual citrus it to last.

Again, the traditional Byredo cylindrical glass bottle is used in this presentation.

Limoncello, Incense, Cardamom

Brazilian Rosewood, Papyrus, Agarwood, Patchouli

Tobacco, Oakmoss

Longevity 6+ hours

7. Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land Eau de Parfum

Byredo Rose of No Man's Land Eau de Parfum

Originally launched in 2015, Rose of No Man’s Land Eau de Parfum takes its inspiration from the nickname for the nurses who saved so many lives during the First World War. Its lovely aroma easily makes it one of the best Byredo perfumes available.

If you love rose as much as I do then this one is for you. Rose is omnipresent in this beautiful floral rose focused scent that is delicately peppered with hints of soft spice and woody warmth. You need this in your collection, it is my personal favourite.

This perfume is best worn in the daytime during the refreshing seasons of autumn and spring.

The longevity of this fragrance is long-lasting. I could still experience the rose after 5+ hours.

The classic Byredo cylindrical glass bottle encapsulates this scent.

Turkish Rose Petals, Pink Pepper

Raspberry Bloom, Turkish Red Rose

Amber, Papyrus

8. Byredo 1996 Eau de Parfum

Byredo 1996 Eau de Parfum

Introduced in 2013, Byredo’s 1996 Eau de Parfum draws its inspiration from a photograph of a young girl by famed visual artists Inez and Vinoodh. The use of juniper berries and patchouli provide an intoxicating aroma that is reminiscent of cognac.

The scent is blatantly powdery with aromatic notes of wood, amber, and leather lending a touch of warmth to the overall experience. It feels both mature and feminine.

This fragrance gave me the feeling of autumn/winter as the warming base of amber and leather hold up nicely and lend themselves well to the florals.

The longevity of this fragrance is long-lasting, 5+ hours. Especially the leather, amber and violet.

1996 Eau de Parfum is presented in the classic Byredo cylindrical glass bottle design.

Juniper Berries

Iris, Violet

Leather, Amber, Patchouli

9. Byredo Sundazed Eau De Parfum

Byredo Sundazed Eau De Parfum

Sundazed Eau de Parfum is one of the newest members of the Byredo fragrance family, having been launched in 2019. Inspired by the seemingly endless summer days of childhood, the hints of cotton candy and sweet citrus that greet your nose will almost certainly take you on a nostalgic journey to the county fairs of your youth.

The scent of sweet citrus is artfully balanced with the warmth of jasmine and neroli. Throughout the aromatic journey, the sweetness of cotton candy keeps things interesting. If you love lemon then you are in for a treat.

This perfume is best worn during the sunny days of the spring and summer seasons. It’s a happy spring/summer fragrance.

The longevity of this fragrance is medium lasting, 4+ hours. The musk and neroli in particular remain to the end.

Sundazed is presented in the signature Byredo cylindrical glass bottle with a rounded black cap.

Mandarin Orange, California Lemon

Jasmine Sambac, Neroli

Cotton Candy, White Musk

Seasons Spring Summer

10. Byredo Inflorescence Eau de Parfum

Byredo Inflorescence Eau de Parfum

Inflorescence Eau de Parfum is an absolute celebration of the spring season, a time when the natural world is revived in the most vibrant fashion. This captivating perfume evokes the feeling of strolling through a rose garden during full bloom.

A kaleidoscope of floral notes of pink freesia and rose dominate the aroma profile of this refreshingly gorgeous fragrance. The tiniest hints of fresh spice and initially heavy green notes provide a wonderful complement to the main elements. It’s divine.

This perfume is best worn during the refreshing sunny days of spring/ summer.

As expected, gur to the floral notes and lack of a deeper base, the longevity of this fragrance is only moderate 3+ hours. Do not let that put you off, just re-apply when needed. A great fragrance.

Once again, the classic Byredo bottle design is employed in this recognizable presentation.

Pink Freesia, Rose

Lily of the Valley, Magnolia

Season Spring Summer

11. Byredo Reine de Nuit Extrait de Parfum

Byredo Reine de Nuit Extrait de Parfum

Reine de Nuit Extrait de Parfum was introduced by Byredo in 2019 and is best described as a warm chypre floral fragrance. This evening perfume is extremely alluring and seductive, providing the wearer and their companion with the perfect aroma to intensify the mood.

The scent opens up with a combination of balsamic and rose notes followed by warm spice and musk. The various aromatic elements combine nicely to create an oriental evening fragrance. Very sensual.

This fragrance is best worn during the cold nights of the autumn and winter seasons.

The longevity of this perfume is rated as very, very long-lasting. I could still smell it on me after 7+ hours

Although this elixir is presented in the classic Byredo glass bottle, its dark maple color gives it a striking appearance.

Black Currant, Saffron

Rose, Incense

Patchouli, Musk Mallow

Longevity 7+ hours

12. Byredo Casablanca Lily Extrait de Parfum

Byredo Casablanca Lily Extrait de Parfum

Being another of the latest additions to the Byredo family, introduced in 2019, Casablanca Lily Extrait de Parfum counts itself as an integral component of the illustrious Night Veil collection. As the name would suggest, this sumptuous fragrance was inspired by the uninhibited nightlife in the twinkling coastal city of Casablanca.

The intense white floral scent combines faultlessly with the rich sweetness top notes of plum and honey to produce what felt like a classic female fragrance. It also has subtle peppery tones that com to the surface from time to time throughout.

This versatile perfume can be worn day or night during the cool months of the autumn, winter, and spring seasons.

I found the longevity of this fragrance was quite long-lasting 4+ hours.

Again, the classic Byredo bottle design is implemented while the richly dark nectar attracts the eye.

Plum, Gardenia

Indian Tuberose, Carnation

Palisander Rosewood, Honey

Seasons Autumn winter spring

There are a wide range of beautiful offerings from this unique luxury fragrance house, and if you find yourself in London, clearly Harrods is the perfect location to try them.

I hope that this guide will help to make your choices easier when you are ready to welcome another luxury fragrance into your portfolio. An Ulta reviewer said: “It’s a beautiful light fragrance. I have to admit, when I first sprayed it, I really thought that I didn’t care for it. As it dried down, it became one of my all-time favorites. I am frequently asked what I’m wearing. Very light.”

The Byredo Scents That Are Worth the Money, Ranked by Me

Best Byredo perfumes

At this point, I've at least smelled almost every Byredo fragrance there is. It's easy to see why the Stockholm-based brand is so popular. In addition to the incredibly chic and minimalist packaging, the unisex scents are unique while still being undoubtedly wearable and intriguing. Trust me—everyone will ask you what scent you're wearing when you spray on Byredo, and anything you buy from the brand is worthy of the price tag, but I'm here to help you narrow it down to the  best perfumes  it has. (There are so many good ones to choose from.)

For my fragrance-buying mission and your fragrance-buying missions (I'm here to serve), I asked Byredo to send me samples of its best-selling scents, and they kindly obliged. Over the past few weeks, I've been switching up my scent daily because variety is the spice of life, and I wanted to give you my honest reviews of the 11 most popular Byredo perfumes.

There are plenty of fragrance reviews out there, but I find them quite technical, speaking to all of the different layered notes in a scent. My reviews are more about how they'll make you feel when wearing them, the best occasions and seasons to wear them, how versatile they are, etc. Keep scrolling if you're intrigued, and head to the bottom for what I think is the best Byredo fragrance.

#11: Oud Immortel

Oud Immortel is a beautiful scent, and I was excited to get to try it, but for me, it was just a bit masculine. It was created around a certain type of  dark wood that's used in traditional incense, so it's as smoky and complex as you'd imagine. While it may not be right for me, I'd buy a bottle for my husband in a second.

Byredo Oud Immortel Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Family: woody

Key Notes: limoncello, incense, cardamom, patchouli, papyrus, Brazilian rosewood, tobacco leaves, and moss

Customer Review: "Oud in the most unexpected way… sweet, woody, sensual. I don’t know how this scent has flown under the radar—it’s just perfect. Highly recommend you try it on your skin! Amazing performance too, with about 10-12 hours of projection."

#10: Mojave Ghost

Mojave Ghost is one of Byredo's buzziest scents, so I was eager to try it. I see why this one is so popular—it's a lovely option for the evening but isn't sweet or overly floral. It's soft, and the floral aspect is soft and more woodsy, with a hint of  sandalwood and amber . The only reason I don't think I'd adopt it as my signature scent is that it develops a bit of a powdery note on me as the day wears on, but some people may embrace that.

Byredo Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum

Key Notes: ambrette, Jamaican nesberry, violet, sandalwood, magnolia, musk, amber, and cedarwood

Customer Review: "The perfume smells lovely and has a lasting power too. I was trying the fragrance from this brand for the first time so didn’t know what to expect. Its not too overpowering so its perfect for everyday wear. I highly recommend it if you are looking to try something new."

Byredo Mojave Ghost Hand Cream

#9: Bibliothèque

Byredo's Bibliothèque candles have an intense cult following (I'm a member of that cult), so it was wise of the brand to create a perfume. I honestly couldn't describe this scent to you if I tried. It's unique. There is a rich patchouli note that is overarching, so if you like expensive-smelling patchouli , you'll love this. Again, this one was a wee bit too masculine for me (but my love for the candle lives on), and I'd 100% buy it for my husband and require that he wear it every day.

Byredo Bibliothèque Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Family: warm

Key Notes: peach, plum, peony, violet, vanilla, leather, and patchouli

Customer Review: "This is my favorite perfume I have ever owned. It’s like the sexiest cross between a beautiful sweet floral scent and brand new leather bound books. It’s definitely there and stays with you but still manages to not be overpowering. I get so many compliments on it. Like a crazy amount. All of Byredo’s fragrances are just gorgeous and sophisticated. Wish I could own them all."

Byredo Bibliothèque Candle

#8: Flowerhead

Flowerhead is definitely the most  floral scent in the bunch and would make the perfect daytime scent in  spring and summer . As is the norm for Byredo, it's a very complex floral that feels exotic and fresh. It certainly has signature scent potential but not really year-round.

Byredo Flowerhead Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Family: green and floral

Key Notes: angelica seeds, Sicilian lemon, lingonberry, jasmine sambac, tuberose, rose petals, amber, and suede

Customer Review: "This a absolutely fabulous scent. I think it might be my signature scent. I love how green and floral it is. The notes are blended so well it can't easily be deciphered. I'm so happy with this purchase."

#7: Slow Dance

Slow Dance is one of Byredo's newer fragrances. I'd seen it all over several cool girls' Instagrams, so I had to try it. Like Bibliothèque, this one is also a bit tricky to describe. It definitely feels like a rich, cold-weather fragrance to me, and patchouli and vanilla are the base notes, but they're the most sophisticated versions of patchouli and  vanilla you can imagine. If you like your scent to be warm and slightly sweet, this one's for you.

Byredo Slow Dance Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Family: amber

Key Notes: opoponax, geranium, labdanum, violet, vanilla, and patchouli

Customer Review: "My all time favorite perfume. I’ve never smelt anything that comes close to this or that could be copied. It’s sweet warm and lasts forever. This is my third bottle now and I will continue to buy this. Everything about it feels special. The packaging is gorgeous too!"

#6: Rose Noir

The first of the two  rose fragrances (more to come on the other soon), Rose Noir is a bit earthier. Byredo describes it as "dirty," and I'd have to agree. It has some depth to it but is undeniably a rose lover's dream.

Byredo Rose Noir Eau De Parfum

Fragrance Family: floral

Key Notes: cardamom, freesia, red berries, lily-of-the-valley, raspberry, rose damascena, musk, and patchouli

Customer Review: "Rose Noir is a catchy take on cool floral facet engaging bitter grapefruit note—a must try if you collect rose perfumes! Mossy facet creates additional depth for this composition and a very natural green fresh feel."

#5: Velvet Haze

I apparently live on the edge because I bought Velvet Haze without even smelling it a few months ago. (The brand had me with the "coconut water" description.) Luckily, I loved it. I prefer it for the evening, as it's a bit musky, but it's also a great anytime scent during  fall and winter . When I first sprayed it on, I was struck by the smell of patchouli, but it softens beautifully. Highly recommend.

Byredo Velvet Haze Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Family: amber and fruity

Key Notes: ambrette, coconut water, patchouli leaves, cocoa absolu, cotton musks, wild musk

Customer Review: "This fragrance is so unique and special. Without knowing, it’s hard to put your finger on exactly what the notes are but it smells sexy and exotic without being overly strong. I get compliments on it absolutely every time I wear it. Try it and you definitely won’t regret it."

#4: Bal d'Afrique

Bal d'Afrique is another one of the brand's cult favorites that I was so intrigued by. You just feel cool and in the know when wearing it. If I'm putting it simply, the incense is a notable layer, but very expensive and rare incense that you can only get in Africa.

Byredo Bal d'Afrique Eau de Parfum

Key Notes: bergamot, African marigold, bucchu, violet, cyclamen, vetiver, Moroccan cedarwood

Customer Review: "A gorgeous and elegant scent that is delicate. It is a floral scent with some sweet notes but definitely not overpowering. Perfect for spring and summer! It is a very decadent scent overall that you cannot go wrong with in your collection. I would definitely recommend trying it on as it smells even better on the body and last for a long time."

Byredo Bal D'Afrique Body Wash

#3: Mixed Emotions

I just had the pleasure of trying Byredo's newest fragrance, Mixed Emotions, and I had a hunch it was going to be good, but it exceeded my already high expectations. The name and even the brand's description didn't completely prepare me for the first sniff. It reads, "Comforting notes of maté and the sharp sweetness of cassis sit within a wooden framework; the reassuring scent of black tea disturbed by violet leaf synthetics." After the initial spritz, I definitely picked up on the blackcurrant, which I'm always partial to, and tea, which balances out the floral note of the violet. As it dries down, a subtle woodsiness develops, which lingers throughout the day. Mixed Emotions is a scent that works beautifully day or night, year-round.

Mixed Emotions Eau De Parfum

Fragrance Family: fresh and woodsy

Key Notes: maté, blackcurrant, Ceylon black tea, violet leaves, birchwood, papyrus

Customer Review: "Initially smells like woodsy berries—I can imagine it’s the currant. The dry down smells of almost cozy warm tea. Really wearable scent. Leans on the feminine side in my opinion. Definitely one of my favorite all time Byredo scents now!"

#2: Rose of No Man's Land

I'm always on the hunt for a cool rose fragrance, and I really struck gold with this popular Byredo scent. It's subtle and fresh but with a hint of richness (thanks to the white amber base note). This is one of those rare scents that I'd be happy to wear every day, year-round. I'm probably going to have to add it to my collection.

Byredo Rose of No Man's Land Eau de Parfum

Key Notes: pink pepper, Turkish rose petals, raspberry blossom, Turkish rose absolute, papyrus, white amber

Customer Review: "Normally, I would not wear a fragrance that smells of roses as it can often be too intense or cloying. Instead, this Byredo Eau de Parfum is beautifully subtle. I find it is my everyday go-to perfume because of this. I love it so much that I have given it as a gift."

Byredo Rose of No Man's Land Body Wash

#1: Gypsy Water

We've come to the end, and my number one paycheck-worthy pick is Gypsy Water. Sorry, no surprise here! It's the brand's best-selling, most well-known, and most Instagrammed (I checked) scent, and for good reason. It's the one I reached for the most these past few weeks because wearing it makes me happy. It smells of sandalwood and vanilla,  lemon and campfire, and so many other things you would never believe could smell so intoxicatingly good together. It smells so beautiful that I don't even care that it's not particularly under the radar. I want to wear it constantly so I can smell my wrist whenever I need a pick me up.

Byredo Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum

Key Notes: bergamot, lemon, pepper, juniper berries, incense, pine needles, orris, amber, vanilla, sandalwood

Customer Review: "I had been reluctant to buy given it’s quite expensive but this perfume is so so beautiful. It has a lovely woody/powdery scent, and I particularly love that it is unisex. Definitely a favorite—my only regret now is not buying the 100ml bottle!"

What Type of Scent Is Mojave Ghost?

Mojave Ghost is a unique and sophisticated fragrance that captures the essence of the Mojave Desert in it’s scent profile. The perfume features a woody and musky aroma, characterized by the use of ambrette and nesberry, which provide a fresh and aromatic top note. The base notes are a combination of powdery violet flower and sandalwood, which infuse the scent with a warm and comforting feel.

The woody aroma isn’t overpowering, but rather complements the wearers natural scent, providing a delicate and refined fragrance that’s perfect for any occasion. The scent is long-lasting and will stay with you throughout the day, providing a comforting and luxurious aroma that’s sure to turn heads.

The Byredo brand is known for it’s unique approach to fragrance creation, where emotions and memories are translated into scents that can be experienced by everyone. Ben Gorham, the founder of Byredo, has a passion for exploring the connections between scent and memory, and this passion is reflected in the fragrance collections that the brand produces.

Mojave Ghost is a perfect example of the Byredo philosophy, as it captures the beauty and soul of the Mojave Desert in a way that’s both unique and memorable. The fragrance is a celebration of nature and the beauty that can be found in the natural world, making it a perfect choice for those who appreciate the simple things in life.

It’s woody and musky aroma captures the beauty and soul of the Mojave Desert in a way that’s both sophisticated and subtle. The scent is perfect for those who appreciate luxury and refinement, and it’s sure to turn heads wherever it’s worn.

How to Properly Apply Mojave Ghost Perfume

To properly apply Mojave Ghost perfume, spray it onto your skin from a distance of about 6 inches. Focus on pulse points such as wrists, neck, and behind ears. Avoid rubbing the perfume into your skin, as this can alter the scent. Allow the perfume to dry and settle before putting on clothing or jewelry.

As we explore the complexities of Mojave Ghost, it’s worth considering the sweetness that characterizes some key notes in this fragrance. While the opening fruit accord delivers plenty of sweetness in the form of mamey and peach, we’ll see that this is just the beginning of a journey that incorporates a range of notes, each with their own unique contribution to the scent. Whether you’re a fan of sweet fragrances or simply curious about the nuances of Mojave Ghost, read on to discover more.

Is Mojave Ghost Sweet?

But despite the abundance of sweet notes, Mojave Ghost manages to avoid being overly sugary or cloying. This is thanks in part to the addition of more complex and earthy notes such as sandalwood, cedarwood and violet. These woody and floral notes give the fragrance depth and balance, making it a sophisticated and complex scent that’s suitable for both day and evening wear.

One of the most striking things about Mojave Ghost is how it manages to conjure up a sense of place. Inspired by the Mojave Desert, this fragrance captures the dry, dusty landscapes of this wild region of California with it’s blend of warm, woody and spicy notes. The scent is evocative of sun-bleached rocks, desert flowers, and the unique scent of cactus sap.

The fragrance boasts excellent sillage and a long wear time, meaning that it will stay with you all day and into the night. However, for those who prefer a more subtle fragrance, this scent can also be worn by applying just a few sprays to the wrists and neck for a lighter, more delicate effect.

With it’s sweet, fruity opening notes and it’s complex blend of earthy and woody notes, this fragrance is a true masterpiece of olfactory design.

A Breakdown of the Specific Ingredients and Notes Used in the Fragrance and Their Effects on the Overall Scent.

  • Top notes: bergamot, lemon, and grapefruit add a fresh and citrusy aroma to the fragrance.
  • Heart notes: lavender, rose, and jasmine provide a floral and sweet scent to the perfume.
  • Base notes: sandalwood, musk, and vanilla create a warm and comforting aroma, and help the fragrance last longer on the skin.
  • The combination of these different notes creates a complex and unique scent that can evoke different emotions and memories.
  • It’s important to note that the quality of the ingredients used can also affect the overall scent and longevity of the fragrance.

Building your beloved fragrances

Each perfume, Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette, Eau de Cologne or Eau de Solid is made with fragrance oils and alcohol. The oils serve as a carrier of the fragrance, whereas the alcohol forms a bridge between oil and skin. The individual categories reflect the ratio between oil and alcohol. Perfume has the highest oil content with 15%-30% and eau de solid with 1%-3% the lowest.

Despite the differences in the quantity ratio, each fragrance component traditionally unfolds gradually according to the so-called fragrance pyramid. This consists of head, heart and base notes.

The fragrance pyramid

Fragrances for you

Women's fragrances are mainly made from floral, oriental, semi-borient or chypre fragrances.

Floral fragrances are among the most popular fragrance families. The feminine, elegant and natural associations emphasise the feminine side. Oriental fragrances smell sweet, heavy and intense. The oils used are reminiscent of a world of 1001 nights with long perceptibility. A blend of floral and oriental fragrances are semi-borial perfumes. This fragrance combines the warmth and mysterious with a harmony of floral and fruity nuances. The Chypre fragrance family is characterised by a fine fragrance that particularly confident women appreciate. Chypre fragrances offer a strong contrast between warm woody nuances and fresh citrus notes.

Choose for yourself and find the right scent for your personality.

Fragrances for him

For men's fragrances, mainly differs between woody leather and tobacco-like fragrances.

Woody scents are extracted from cedar wood, amber or vetiver. These emphasise the masculinity and can be combined well with other scents of pepper, cinnamon or nutmeg. Fragrances with leather nuances usually smell smoky and are perceived as cosy. These fragrances are combined with floral oils and rounded off. The tobacco scent serves as an ideal base for other fragrances. The warm and slightly sweet aroma of the tobacco is often rounded off with floral and woody fragrances. The three categories are mainly used as a base note and mixed with floral or herbaceous essences. This creates a perfect and intense fragrance experience.

Try it for yourself and find your unique favourite fragrance.

We’ve tested and reviewed the full range of perfumes Byrado has today and created a top 10 list. You will love these scents for their gorgeous notes, their powerful performance, and the emotions and memories they evoke.

1. Byredo Mojave Ghost

Byredo Mojave Ghost

  $122.00 at $205.00 at at

Mojave Ghost is a powerful oriental-floral fragrance inspired by California’s Mojave Desert. It blends notes from the diverse plants that grow there. This scent is perfect for a sophisticated and classy woman looking for an equally sophisticated and classy fragrance. Mojave Ghost begins relatively simply, with top notes of sapodilla and ambrette. Middle notes of violet, magnolia, and sandalwood give the scent more substance. Eventually, this fragrance draws to a close with nostalgic base notes of ambergris and cedar. Mojave Ghost has a moderate sillage, which stops it from being overwhelming. Longevity is where this scent truly shines. Wearers can easily enjoy it all day long! The floral and woody notes put this scent on the warmer side – fitting, considering the location that inspired it! That being the case, this scent is a great fit for cold nights in the fall and winter.

2. Byredo Gypsy Water

Byredo Gypsy Water

  $70.00 at $280.49 at at

Gypsy Water was one of the first scents Byredo ever sold, and it’s been a hit since day one. The scent is inspired by the Romani culture, which founder Ben Gorham encountered in his younger years. It’s unusual and refreshing, and definitely deserves its spot at the top of this list. Gypsy Water begins with bright and refreshing with top notes of juniper berry, bergamot, and lemon. The middle layer includes smoky, spicy notes of pepper, pine needle, and incense . The fragrance ends with creamy, smoky base notes of vanilla, sandalwood, and amber . Gypsy Water has a lighter sillage and shorter longevity than most Byredo fragrances. But you don’t need much to be noticed thanks to its distinctive smell. True to its name, Gypsy Water can provide an especially powerful splash of refreshment in the summertime. However, it’s versatile enough for all-day and all-year wear.

3. Byredo Bal d’Afrique

Byredo Bal dAfrique

  $64.91 at $290.00 at at

Alongside Gypsy Water, Bal a’Afrique was one of the first scents to come out of the Byredo workshop. This gorgeously unique scent was inspired by journals Ben Gorham’s father wrote while journeying through Africa. Bal a’Afrique starts with vivid, celebratory top notes of lemon, tagetes, and black currant. Middle notes of violet, jasmine, and cyclamen intensify the floral aspect of the scent, and base notes of amber and vetiver ground it. This perfume is solid both in sillage and longevity. It’s strong enough to stand out and stay long enough to outlast most events without cloying. This scent has a citrusy and powdery aroma, so wear it on summer days!

4. Byredo Black Saffron

Byredo Black Saffron

  $210.98 at $252.44 at $276.00 at

Black Saffron is inspired by and reminiscent of Indian spice markets. It’s a fragrance that celebrates unity and cohesion, and is perfect for a spirited and energetic man. Upon first spritz, Black Saffron drenches the air with juniper berry undercut by spicy saffron. These gradually give way to mysterious, exotic middle notes of leather accord and black violet. It ends as it began – on an uplifting note – with a base layer of raspberry and cashmere. Byredo Black Saffron is one of the better performers in terms of longevity – the perfume stays on the skin for hours! Its moderate sillage catches attention without being too strong. The spicy notes and overall nostalgia of this scent make it perfect for the holidays, when your focus should be making new memories to reminisce about later.

5. Byredo La Tulipe

Byredo La Tulipe

  $162.00 at $280.49 at at

La Tulipe is for women who adore all things girly, floral, and feminine. The perfume blends several luscious flower notes together to celebrate the changing of the seasons from winter to spring. We love this scent for its gentle boldness, unabashed femininity, and graceful beauty. The first spray of La Tulipe releases fruity-floral top notes of cyclamen and freesia. True to its name, this fragrance has a single note of fresh, dew-frosted tulip at its heart. These notes rest upon a base layer of vetiver, as well as green notes like leaves and grass. Byredo La Tulipe is a middle-of-the-road fragrance in terms of longevity and sillage, making it a great choice for everyday wear. As this fragrance honors the springtime, we recommend it for that season! It can also bring happiness and hope for the future on cold and dreary winter days.

6. Byredo Slow Dance

Byredo Slow Dance

  $181.97 at $196.00 at $205.69 at

This is Byredo’s newest perfume, released in August 2019. Slow Dance is a unisex perfume inspired by the awkwardness and excitement of school dances, especially when the lights dim and the music lowers for a slow dance. This scent blends masculine and feminine notes together in a dance all their own. Slow Dance begins with a single top note of balsamic opoponax. This blends softly into middle notes of floral , feminine geranium and violet, as well as leathery, masculine labdanum. Base notes of vanilla and patchouli ground the entire scent and hold the separate notes together. Byredo Slow Dance lasts for upwards of twelve hours, leaving a strong scent trail all the while. Since Slow Dance is such a nostalgic yet innocent scent, we recommend wearing it to milestone events like weddings, dates, and baby or bridal showers.

7. Byredo Flowerhead

Byredo Flowerhead

  $205.00 at $205.00 at at

Flowerhead is reminiscent of the woven strings of flowers that decorate many Indian weddings. It’s an unrepentantly floral blend perfect for women in need of an unabashedly feminine fragrance. Flowerhead’s top notes are a bright and intriguing blend of lemon, angelica, and cranberry. These give way to lush jasmine and tuberose, nestled in a bed of green notes like snapped leaves and flower stems. Lingering base notes of suede accord and ambergris leave the skin with a slightly oriental fragrance. Byredo’s Flowerhead has a powerful sillage, so less is more here. The scent is exceptionally long-lasting, too, so you can be confident that even a little goes a long way. Like most florals, Flowerhead is an excellent choice for summer and spring.

8. Byredo Oud Immortel

Byredo Oud Immortel

  $199.99 at $271.14 at at

Oud is one of the oldest known ingredients in perfumery, to the extent that its use was recorded in the Sanskrit Vedas. It’s a type of wood known for its smoky and mysterious aroma. Oud Immortel beautifully worships this note and the history behind it. Oud Immortel opens with a bright note of limoncello blended with smoky incense. These give way to a musky middle layer of oud , papyrus, and Brazilian rosewood. The base notes are a masculine blend of oakmoss and pipe tobacco. Oud Immortel is quite possibly the strongest and longest-lasting fragrance Byredo offers. It’s a powerful cologne for men who want to make an enormous impression. Since this is one of the heavier fragrances in the Byredo catalog, we recommend it for outdoor events where scents have further to spread.

9. Byredo Sunday Cologne

Byredo Sunday Cologne

  $252.43 at $290.00 at $369.99 at

This stunning cologne blends spicy, aftershave-type notes with soapy and citrusy notes. The overall effect is clean, rugged, and relaxing. Sunday Cologne is for men who are similarly rugged and strong, but with a softer, more relaxed side. Byredo’s Sunday Cologne has compelling top notes of bergamot , cardamom, and star anise. These give way to clean and fresh-smelling middle notes of lavender and geranium. This blend rests upon earthy, woody base notes of vetiver and oakmoss. This fragrance is subtle compared to other Byredo scents, but nonetheless, it’s a clean and robust scent guaranteed to catch attention. It stays on the skin for upwards of eight hours. Sunday Cologne is great for everyday wear. You’ll feel confident, powerful, and determined!

10. Byredo Super Cedar

Byredo Super Cedar

$130.04 at $280.49 at $384.99 at

Byredo Super Cedar is a heady women’s fragrance inspired by children’s schoolrooms, particularly the smell of freshly sharpened pencils. It takes you back to elementary school days of practicing handwriting, eating PB&J, and looking forward to playing at recess. This scent is perfect for those who long to return to simpler times. Super Cedar opens with a single top note of fresh rose petals and a hearty middle note of Virginian cedarwood. After several hours, it ends with base notes of silk musk and Haitian vetiver. The perfume has a moderate sillage, so the scent stays closer to the wearer. In terms of longevity, it ranks alongside Oud Immortel and Flowerhead – in other words, it stays around for a long time! Since Super Cedar is a simpler and subtler fragrance, it’s another great choice for everyday wear.

Choosing Your Byredo Perfume

Still not sure how to choose a perfume you’ll like? Use these tips to narrow Byredo’s selection down and find your ideal fragrance!

Feminine and Masculine notes

Identify masculine versus feminine notes, and choose a scent that contains more notes of your preference. Byredo prides itself on creating scents that are largely unisex, or that men and women can both wear comfortably. However, their blends can certainly lean more feminine or more masculine, depending on the individual notes they contain.

Feminine notes

Feminine notes are often described as “floral,” “sweet,” “fruity,” or “powdery.” They can also be described as “green,” although feminine green notes tend to be fresher and less herbaceous than masculine green notes. Common feminine notes in Byredo fragrances include:

Masculine notes

Masculine notes are often described as “woody,” “smoky,” or “spicy.” They may also be described as “green,” or reminiscent of plants like mown grass. Common masculine notes in Byredo fragrances include:

  • Leather accord

Using this list as a reference, find a fragrance that fits your tastes. And don’t feel constrained, either – men can rock feminine perfumes and women can be stunning in masculine colognes! It’s all about what you want in your scent and how you want to feel when you wear it.

Choose a fragrance that makes you feel nostalgic. Byredo perfumes invite us to reflect on our memories and enjoy the nostalgia they stir up. So why not use that to your advantage? Choose a scent that reminds you of a place you love, an event special to you, or your favorite season or time of year.

For scents that remind you of faraway locales, choose exotic-smelling fragrances like Gypsy Water, Bal d’Afrique, or Black Saffron.

For scents that remind you of certain life events, choose unabashedly nostalgic scents like Slow Dance, Sunday Cologne, or Flowerhead.

For scents that remind you of particular times of year, select seasonally-inspired scents like La Tulipe or Super Cedar.

The Story of Byredo

Byredo was founded by the artist Ben Gorham in 2006. Gorham, whose background is a fascinating blend of Indian, Swedish, American, French, and Canadian, was inspired to create perfume when he realized how powerful scent is in triggering memories. He already had experience in creating visual art, such as sculptures, paintings, and sketches, and perfumery seemed like a natural way to extend his creative talents.

“Byredo” is a portmanteau of the phrase “by redolence.” The word “redolence” refers to a strong, usually pleasant scent reminiscent of something else. In founding his company and naming it Byredo, Gorham made his intentions clear – to create perfumes that reflect and echo back his own life experiences, and in so doing, resonate with the experiences of others as well.

Evidently, his scents struck the chord they were meant to. Byredo has been catching more and more attention in the decade since it began, and only grew more popular.

Battle of the Scents: Marc Jacobs Daisy Vs Mojave Ghost

Battle of the Scents: Marc Jacobs Daisy Vs Mojave Ghost 1

Daisy by marc jacobs and mojave ghost differ in their fragrance notes. Daisy has a fruity aroma, while mojave ghost has a floral scent with hints of sandalwood.

As one of the most essential accessories for both men and women, fragrance creates a lasting impression when walking into a room. Though preference in scent is subjective, the right perfume can enhance confidence and allure. Among the myriad of perfumes available, two options include daisy by marc jacobs and mojave ghost by byredo.

Daisy by marc jacobs encompasses floral and fruity notes, while mojave ghost is a combination of ethereal florals and woody musks. In this article, we will introduce both fragrances, compare and contrast their similarities and differences, and help you make an informed decision when selecting the perfect perfume.

Battle of the Scents: Marc Jacobs Daisy Vs Mojave Ghost

Comparing Marc Jacobs Daisy And Mojave Ghost Fragrances

Marc jacobs daisy and mojave ghost are two popular fragrances in the market. While both are known for their distinct scent, there are differences worth exploring. Daisy has a floral and fruity fragrance, while mojave ghost has a woody and floral scent.

Daisy is considered a youthful fragrance, while mojave ghost has a more mature appeal. Both fragrances have their loyal fans who swear by them. A good fragrance is a unique expression of individuality, which is why it’s important to choose one that aligns with your personality.

In the end, the choice between the two fragrances comes down to personal preference and style.

Scent Composition

Marc jacobs daisy exudes a fresh and floral aroma with top notes of grapefruit and strawberry. The heart of the scent is a floral bouquet of violet, jasmine, and gardenia. The fragrance settles down with a base of vanilla , musk, and white woods.

On the other hand, mojave ghost by byredo portrays a more subtle and woody scent. The fragrance opens up with a fruity and floral mixture of ambrette and magnolia. The heart of the scent is a stunning yet delicate mixture of violet and sandalwood.

The base of the scent is made up of cedarwood, amber, and musk, adding a more woody feel to the fragrance. Both perfumes are unique and distinct, each with its own unique scent composition.

Bottle And Packaging Design

The bottle and packaging design of marc jacobs daisy is iconic for its floral theme, making it perfectly suitable for the scent it houses. The unique bottle is hexagonal, adorned with delicate white daisies that add a touch of femininity to the overall design.

Mojave ghost, on the other hand, has a minimalist approach with a sleek and simple bottle design. It is made of clear glass with a magnetic metallic cap and a minimalist label. The simplicity of the bottle remarkably complements the complexity of the fragrance.

While marc jacobs daisy appeals to a more youthful audience, mojave ghost’s design caters to a more mature consumer. Nonetheless, both bottle and packaging designs are true to the image of their respective brands and make for a perfect addition to one’s perfume collection.

Longevity And Performance

Both marc jacobs daisy and byredo mojave ghost have gained popularity among fragrance enthusiasts. However, when it comes to longevity and performance, there are distinct differences to note. Daisy, although described as a floral scent, has a fruity twist that makes it perfect for daytime wear.

It has a moderate sillage and projection and lasts up to six hours. On the other hand, mojave ghost is a woody scent that performs better in colder weather. Its strong sillage and projection last up to eight hours, making it ideal for nighttime wear.

It’s important to note that your skin type and climate can affect how well a fragrance performs, so it’s best to try out the scents before investing in a full bottle.

Price And Value For Money

When it comes to marc jacobs daisy, its price ranges from mid to high-end. On the other hand, mojave ghost’s cost is quite steep for its minimalist packaging. Comparing the two may seem a bit difficult, but in terms of value for money, both fragrances offer unique characteristics that cater to different preferences.

Daisy’s sweet floral scent is perfect for those who want a light and refreshing fragrance, while mojave ghost’s heady and exotic aroma is great for those who like a more luxurious and indulgent fragrance. At the end of the day, it all boils down to personal choice and budget allocation.

However, both fragrances have proven to be well-loved by consumers, making them worthwhile investments for anyone in the market for a new fragrance.

To truly appreciate Mojave Ghost, one must first understand the inspiration behind its creation. Byredo’s founder and creative director, Ben Gorham, drew inspiration from the ethereal beauty of the Mojave Desert, a vast and otherworldly expanse stretching across the southwestern United States.

byredo mojave ghost dupes and alternatives

Drawing inspiration from the resilient blooms of the Mojave Desert, Champagne Socialist’s take on Byredo’s Mojave Ghost is like stepping into a dream. Picture this: Ambrette and Lemon notes dancing in a musky yet uplifting symphony.

It’s a fragrant ode to the rare flowers that choose to bloom far from the hustle and bustle of society, encapsulated in this enchanting woody scent.

At the top, you’re greeted with the fruity embrace of Jamaican Nesberry and the powdery allure of Violet. As the scent unfolds, it gracefully settles into a warm base of Chantilly Musk, crisp Amber, and Cedarwood.

4. Oil Perfumery – Mojave Ghost

oil perfumery byredo mojave ghost

If you haven’t come across Oil Perfumery yet, you’re in for a treat. This company has made a name for itself by offering budget-friendly alternatives to high-end fragrances. 6. Zara – Santal Glow

zara santal glow as byredo mojave ghost

Zara, not typically synonymous with enduring fragrances, pleasantly surprised me with Santal Glow. Remarkably, no midday touch-ups were needed.

Spritzing on this fragrance reveals a soft, powdery aroma that unfolds gracefully. The notes of freesia create an air of pure freshness, reminiscent of stepping out of an invigorating shower. What captivates me are the delicate traces of fresh freesia, a subtle touch absent in Mojave Ghost. Santal Glow takes a floral route, yet the embrace of sandalwood imparts a warmth remarkably akin to Mojave Ghost.

Adding to its allure, Santal Glow boasts a wallet-friendly price point. If you’re on the lookout for an affordable alternative to Mojave Ghost with a more floral and airy character, Santal Glow is definitely worth a try as Mojave Ghost dupe.

The floralcy of the cactus blossom, complemented by the creaminess of coconut and the sweetness of vanilla, makes this mist a versatile and alluring choice for any occasion. Bath and Body Works Cactus Blossom is an approved dupe of Byredo Mojave Ghost – and one of the most available that you don’t wanna miss.

8. Miller Harris – Poirier d’un Soir

miller harris as byredo mojave ghost dupes

Diving into the world of Poirier d’un Soir by Miller Harris is like taking a stroll through a complex and captivating fragrance landscape. It shares the same cozy, warm vibes with Mojave Ghost, but with an added layer of intricacy that keeps you intrigued.

While Mojave Ghost leans into comforting woody and floral notes, Poirier d’un Soir cranks up the volume on projection and complexity. Imagine juicy pear and black currant whispers that linger longer than your average perfume adventure.

At the beginning, there’s a touch of sweetness, a dance between spun sugar and rum that’s there to charm but gracefully takes a step back, avoiding an overdose of sweetness.

The subtle entrance of fragrant rose in the middle of the dry-down. It’s like an unexpected guest at a party, bringing a new dimension to the fragrance. And the finale, oh, it’s like a cozy hug – woody, warm, and just as comforting as the base of Mojave Ghost.

So, in the grand symphony of scents, Poirier d’un Soir hits all the right notes, creating a fragrance experience that’s both familiar and delightfully surprising.

9. Chanel – Chance Eau Tendre

chanel chance dupe as byredo mojave ghost

Chanel Chance Eau Tendre is celebrated for its light and radiant composition, making it a perfect choice for those who prefer a delicate and elegant fragrance. Check out The Best 12 Chanel Chance dupes.

The scent opens with a burst of citrusy grapefruit and the sweet, fruity essence of quince, creating a fresh and invigorating introduction. The heart of the fragrance reveals a floral bouquet, with notes of jasmine and hyacinth adding a soft and romantic touch.

Maybe not an affordable dupe of Byredo Mojave Ghost but Chanel Chance Eau de Tendre is a perfect Mojave Ghost alternative with its smooth keynotes and musky, earthy notes.

Chance comes off a touch subtler compared to Mojave Ghost—think of it as Mojave Ghost’s polished older sibling. It exudes a certain maturity while maintaining a playful spirit, revealing delightful hints of spice that gracefully unfold and then gently linger in the air over time. Best Mojave Ghost dupe? Give Chance a chance.

10. Nomenclature – Wood Dew

affordable byredo mojave ghost alternative

Picture this: Modern Eclectics’ Wood Dew—like a snapshot in time when the vibrant blossoms have bid their farewell. What remains might not paint the landscape in bold hues, but it’s alive with a different kind of energy. Imagine a clearing, where the soothing scent of Australian sandalwood and palo santo weaves a tranquil forest scene.

There’s a fresh breeze carrying the crisp aroma of Asian pear. Now, add the sweetness of peach nectar, the gentle allure of Turkish rose, and the soft embrace of white musk, and you’ve got a woody floral blend that feels like a warm hug for those seeking a grounding experience.

Nomenclature’s Wood Dew really nails the vibe of Byredo Mojave Ghost. It’s like catching a whiff of a fresh breeze, wrapping you in a cozy feeling that pays homage to the iconic original scent. If you’re a fan of Mojave Ghost, this one is a must-try dupe that captures the essence beautifully, offering a refreshing and soft alternative to the beloved fragrance. One of the greates dupes of Byredo Mojave Ghost.

11. Aerin – Cedar Violet

dupe of byredo Mojave ghost

Another successful Byredo Mojave Ghost dupe. A brisk autumn hike, immersing yourself in the enchantment of the forest, with vibrant leaves creating a colorful carpet on sunlit trails. In this uplifting woody-floral perfume, the crisp notes of violet leaf blend seamlessly with the comforting aroma of warm cedarwood and the radiant embrace of amber.

Aerin’s Fragrance Collection is like a personal wardrobe of unique perfumes, each one drawing inspiration from Aerin’s journeys, experiences, and cherished memories. Cedar Violet, in particular, captures the essence of a mountain forest in autumn, bringing to life the scents and hues of this magical season.

Cedar Violet gives off that cozy warmth reminiscent of Mojave Ghost, but with a subtler twist. I noticed I had to give it a little refresh a few hours in to keep the scent going strong. But, hey, this could be a win if you’re not a fan of scents that shout too loudly.

If you’re after a fragrance that shares the warmth of Mojave Ghost but adds a touch of aquatic vibes, Cedar Violet could be your new go-to. It’s like a gentle, warm hug with a subtle aquatic breeze – perfect for those moments when you want a fragrance that speaks, but not too loudly.

12. Marc Jacobs – Daisy

mojave ghost dupe byredo

If you’re on the hunt for a fragrance sharing those floral-woody vibes, Daisy by Marc Jacobs is a solid contender. While it doesn’t mimic Mojave Ghost as closely as some other alternatives I’ll chat about later, both Daisy and Mojave Ghost carry this enticing blend of sophistication and seduction that sets them apart in the perfume scene.

Similar to Mojave Ghost, Daisy doesn’t scream for attention but leaves a noticeable trail, making it a fantastic choice for your everyday hustle.

What makes Daisy special for me is its knack for playing hide-and-seek. It sort of fades away, only to sneak back in a few hours later, treating you to a delightful mix of wood and musk. This dry down? Reminds me a lot of Mojave Ghost, hanging around with those subtle hints of warm amber and musk.

All in all, if you’re after a fragrance with similar undertones and a captivating floral kick, Daisy gets my vote. It’s like finding a hidden gem in the world of scents.
