Stepping on board, guests will find the AVALON sailing yacht to feel extremely spacious both on her luscious teak decks and throughout her classy interiors. Below decks, the salon and dining is a social and open plan, featuring a large L shaped sofa, coffee table that converts effortlessly to a formal dining table, complete wet bar and state of the art entertainment. Wrap around windows bring ample natural light, highlighting the fine joinery and cherry woods. Guest accommodation is aft of the salon, providing optimum privacy.

AVALON Specifications

Exterior living is plentiful, perfect for gatherings, relaxing and enjoying her exhilarating sailing power. A covered navigation area leads out from the salon into the guest cockpit, offering ample seating and an alfresco dining option. AVALON’s main deck wraps fore and aft, with 360° access and high safety rails. Enjoy sunning or relaxing with a book on the flush aft decks, expansive fore decks or even the raised cabin house, the choice is yours.

Powered by 2 x CAT 3208 V8 engines, AVALON is capable of speeds from 8.5 – 9.5 knots, while under sail alone, the graceful ketch rigged sailing yacht can boast speeds of 14 knots.

Hi Trina, We had such a terrific time. They are amazing hosts. Carla is a fantastic cook and really went out of her way to make certain she was cooking food we all would enjoy. Alex is a great host and certainly knew when to hit each spot when the crowds were about to disperse. He really knows his stuff! Alex's daughter Molly was the third crew member and so fantastic...especially for our kids. We can't say enough about the quality of the trip and the attention to detail. We have so many wonderful memories and photos too. I think Alex is going to use some of the shots for their facebook page. Our kids caught two big fish one day and we managed to capture the haul on camera!! That shot alone is enough to entice any family with young children. We'd love to do another trip with them on the Avalon. Failing that we are definitely going to use Charterworld for our next trip. The Luxury Adventure Yacht

      A sleek and graceful presence on the water, the 151-foot full-displacement motor yacht Avalon is stylish and sophisticated while utilizing the best in composite technology. Styled by the in-house Delta Design Group—also responsible for the entire engineering package, her striking exterior is dominated by a long, raised sheer-line with a gentle slope. Her curves and sculpted lines are accentuated by a rich, warm shade of white, raised-teak cap rail and red boot stripe.

       Avalons' owners wanted to create an interior that is elegant yet comfortable—spaces suitable for a family at home on the seas. Working in collaboration with their designer Jean-Claude Canestrelli and the Delta Design Group, they chose dark figured Khaya veneers, Cinamora burls and crotch mahogany as the featured woods. The main salon is surrounded by breathtaking views through large windows and curved glass entry doors flanked by a mirrored set of handsome bar cabinets. The full-beam master, located forward on the main deck, features large hull-side windows perfect for taking in the morning sunshine or enjoying a moonlit starry sky. Below deck are four ample guest cabins.

      One of the feature elements of Avalon is her stonework. In the guest heads a wide spectrum of onyx was used, including green, white, and a rare pink. The yacht’s stone-floored foyer and central staircase, with a unique brushed stainless balustrade and sweeping Khaya handrail, act as a focal point of fine craftsmanship and dramatic curves.

In addition to the lounge area on the main deck aft, the upper deck is also configured with a generous outdoor dining area for ten. Just inside is the open concept sky lounge appointed with a bar, a game table, and great views of the outdoors.

      All outdoor areas feature handsome teak decks, including the sun deck. This spacious area is equipped for outdoor enjoyment, with a central bar, a hot tub, day beds for sun-soaking, and a convenient day head, as well as stowaway workout equipment for exercise al fresco. Avalon is powered by a pair of Caterpillar 3508 - B engines and has zero-speed stabilizers with an integrated central hydraulic system. Her full-displacement hull design allows for large tank storage. Carrying just over 20,000 US gallons of fuel, she has a range of over 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Beautiful as she is powerful, Avalon is a grand hostess for exotic adventures .

Guest Accommodation

Built in 2010, Avalon offers guest accommodation for up to 9 guests in 5 suites comprising a master suite, one VIP cabin, one double cabin, one twin cabin and one single cabin. There are 6 beds in total, including 3 king and 3 singles. She is also capable of carrying up to 11 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

Performance & Range

Avalon is built with a steel hull and GRP superstructure. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, she comfortably cruises at 10 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 12 knots with a range of up to 6,600 nautical miles from her 64,162 litre fuel tanks at cruising speed. Avalon features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels.

Set against the backdrop of your chosen cruising ground, you and your guests can enjoy fun on the water with the collection of water toys and accessories aboard Avalon. Take to the sea on the Jet Skis offering you power and control on the water. Additionally, there are two SEABOBs, that allow you to skim along the surface or steer under the crystal water and experience life swimming with the fish. If that isn't enough Avalon also features inflatable water toys, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment. Avalon has a 11.28m/37' Intrepid to transfer you from ship to shore.

Boating to Catalina Island

Transportation by private boat.

Boaters will find moorings (but no slips) in Avalon, Two Harbors, and various coves around the Island.  For more information about boating in Avalon, download a  brochure , with a map of Avalon Moorings and how to pick up a mooring, from the Avalon Harbor Department.

Avalon Harbor Mooring Information

• Located at Catalina Island's east end, over 360 mooring sites are available in Avalon Harbor, Descanso Bay and Hamilton Cove. 
• All moorings are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.  Upon arrival, please stand by just outside the Avalon Harbor entrance for a mooring assignment from the Harbor Patrol boat.  No moorings are assigned over VHF radio. Mooring fees are payable upon assignment of a mooring, and may be paid by cash, check or credit card (except American Express) to the Harbor Patrol Officer.  See below for video on how to pick up and drop a mooring in Avalon.
• Avalon is a NO DISCHARGE area.  No sewage may be discharged – treated or not.  This is strictly enforced.  A free Pump-A-Head station is located near the fuel dock, by the Casino building.  There is a pump-out station located at the main dock in Two Harbors, and a pump-out boat in Catalina Harbor.
• Service boats make trash pick-ups free of charge daily during the summer months, and in Avalon on weekends in winter months. Plastic trash bags are available at no charge from the trash service boat or at the Harbor Master's office on at the end of the Green Pleasure Pier.  
• To ensure a peaceful coexistence, all generators must be secured from 10 pm to 7 am.
• The anchoring area for Avalon is located outside the breakwater, west of the Casino building, at least 300 feet from moorings and the Casino Dive Park. Plan on a depth of 150 feet.  At all other locations, you may anchor outside mooring areas only.  These are not patrolled and you anchor at your own risk. The shore boat does not service the anchorage area. 
• Dinghy docks are available throughout Avalon Harbor for dinghies 14' or smaller. We recommend dinghy locks. 
• Shoreboat/water-taxi service is also available; the service monitors VHF Channel 9. There is a charge per person, per trip each way.

• Moorings are available via reservation. Every Thursday at midnight, availability will be loaded for the weekend. When you arrive, contact the Two Harbors Harbor Department via VHF Channel 09 to find your assignment and pay your fees.
• Quiet hours, between 10pm and 7am apply for all generator usage.
• Please observe the five-mile per hour, no-wake speed limit near mooring areas and anchorages.
• Gas, diesel, pump-out station and water are available year-round from the fuel dock. Propane is also available on shore.
• A trash pick-up vessel services all leeside coves during the summer months.
• Anchoring is at your own risk. Anchoring is permitted 100 yards outside the mooring area and is administered by the Two Harbors Harbor Department.

When it comes to your boat, you can choose from a variety of exterior colors to customize your pontoon to your personal style. Avalon also allows you to choose an interior color package which helps tie the whole color scheme together.

At the front of the 2185 LSZ Elite, you will find two lounges that face each other. The lounges stretch across the front and curve inward at the bow leading to a boarding gate. Each lounge is plush and can comfortably seat two guests on each. The interior upholstery is made from durable grade vinyl to ensure they hold up over the course of use.

Moving towards the rear of the boat is a portside loveseat that faces toward the captain’s seat. An additional lounge is found right behind the stern. This lounger forms an L-shape. Close by is an additional access gate where guests can board at the aft. Included is a large kidney-shaped table with a base, which is perfect for eating or drinking.

At the console, captains will find that it is outfitted just for them. A low windscreen is present helping to block out any wind flow as you cruise and accelerate out on the water. The dash is a full layout of digital information that keeps you abreast of what is happening with your pontoon. In addition to the digital display, captains will enjoy a Fusion stereo along with a Garmin graph. The custom steering wheel provides complete control and allows you to feel confident in your ability to steer the pontoon. What sets the 2185 LSZ Elite apart from other boats is that the console comes with plenty of legroom, so you don’t have to worry about feeling cramped or squished while sitting. At the console, you will also find plenty of in-floor storage space to keep your equipment and other items. A manual Bimini top is included and provides shade.

The captain’s chair is plush and features a low back for a sporty look and feel. The chair does have armrests for added comfort. Movement of the chair is easy with the slider feature, and you can even rotate the chair to the position you desire.

Throughout the deck of the boat, you will find plenty of cup holders, speakers, and other creature comforts to make your day out on the water fun.

A limited warranty is provided and covers any significant defects that arise in the workmanship or materials. Portions of the boat manufactured by Avalon Pontoon Boats are the only portions covered under the limited warranty.

Pontoon boats for personal use are covered under a limited warranty.

The limited warranty is as follows:

· All boats receive a 10-year parts and labor warranty for floor coverings and upholstery vinyl.

· All boats receive a 10-year part and labor warranty for the Bimini, mooring cover, and enclosure top (fabric).

· All boats receive a 2-year parts and labor warranty for the gel coat.

Avalon Yacht Club offers a variety of sailing events and racing series for adults and juniors. We sail a range of boats including the Optimist, Sunfish, Laser, Club 420 and a small number of offshore keelboats. In addition to the club level events, the Avalon Yacht Club hosts three invitational events including the Avalon MAYRA Regatta, Avalon Yacht Club Juniors Regatta and the Avalon Cup Offshore Race.

FRIDAY EVENING LASERS

Offshore racing, junior racing, sailing dates at a glance, thursday morning exploration sails.

The Avalon Cup Regatta is hosted by Avalon Yacht Club each year in late July/early August. The racing is comprised of two divisions: the Flying Scot fleet and the Off-Shore fleet. The Flying Scots are towed through Townsends Inlet drawbridge and compete in a distance race in the ocean to the “lump” and back. The Off-Shore division has 3 ORR-ez classes that compete in a distance race of approximately 13 miles to Cape May. The Avalon Cup is awarded to the boat with the best corrected finish in the distance race. The Flying Scot awards are hosted after racing at AYC. The Avalon Cup and Off-Shore class trophies are awarded at CYCCM after racing. The Friday night before racing AYC hosts the Avalon Cup dinner for all sailors and their guests. The race starts occur within sight of the Avalon beaches providing great opportunities for spectators. Links to race documents and results from previous regattas are provided below. The Club organizes seven competitive weekend inraclub regattas for Optimists, Sunfish, Lasers, and 420s during the summer sailing seasons. AYC sailors of all ages are welcome to participate. Patrol boats are on the water so that sailors with all levels of experience can practice and develop their sailing skills. Awards are given separately to Adult and Junior divisions. Five of these weekend regattas are part of the “AYC Summer Series” that are the basis for coveted Club Perpetual Awards announced on Family Night based on overall participation and performance in the Series. Sailors’ families are invited to watch all races from the Club patio then gather with the sailors for a lunch or snack during the awards presentation following each event. The intraclub weekend regattas planned for 2024 are: The Memorial Day Regatta; the Independence Day Regatta; the Past-Commodores’ Regatta; the Pizza and Ice Cream Regatta; the Pirates’ Regatta; the Commodore’s Regatta; the Mothers & Fathers / Old Timers’ Regatta; and the Labor Day Regatta. Dates and start times for those events will be published in the 2024 AYC Notice of Race for Weekend Regattas. In addition to the competitive intraclub regattas, the Club also organizes non- competitive sailing events like pre-season sailing and the Twilight Sail and Poker Regatta. Avalon Yacht Club is home to Flying Scot Fleet 208, an active group of racing members. The fleet races most weekends in the Great Sound competing in an Inter-Club series with our sister fleet from Yacht Club of Stone Harbor in pursuit of the Nicholson Trophy. We also share hosting duties for the annual MAYRA Flying Scot Championship which draws top competitors from all over the region. The fleet also has a class start offshore in the Avalon Cup, and handicap start in the annual intraclub “Lump” race. In addition, we enjoy an annual “Moon Light” sail in the bay and frequent fun voyages and practice sessions. The Flying Scot Fleet is composed of member-owned boats and one club-owned boat. We encourage all sailors of any age or experience level to join us as crew or for sailing lessons. Members with sufficient sailing experience are invited to use the club boat to race or cruise. Thursday Morning Exploration Sails

All AYC sailors are welcome to enjoy Thursday morning fun discovery sails in the bay (weather permitting). Sailors with Sunfish, Lasers, or any other suitable dinghies prepare their boats at the club for a 10 AM launch and casually explore the back bays and channels for a few hours. This is an informal gathering of interested sailors, no registration or requirements other than a boat and a taste for exploration. Friday Evening Lasers

All Members and their guests are all welcome to participate on select Friday evenings throughout the summer for fun racing in Lasers in front of the AYC clubhouse. Marks and a Race Committee start boat are set for a 5:00 PM first race start with the aim of conducting several races. Afterwards sailors socialize in the rigging yard or in Clubhouse (bring a change of clothes!). This is an informal gathering of interested sailors, with no registration or requirements other than a boat to sail. Several Club members regularly participate in local offshore races in larger boats (like the J/24 and J/70) and welcome interested sailors to inquire about crewing opportunities. There are several annual regattas with participants from AYC and other South Jersey clubs including the Avalon Cup, Leukemia Cup, Cape-to-Cape, the “Lump” race, and weekly “Local Offshore Regattas” most Saturdays based out of Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May. AYC junior sailors are introduced to competitive sailing and the Rules of Racing as part of the instruction in the Junior Sailing Program. Sailors interested in racing are encouraged to compete in the AYC weekend regattas, to join the AYC Racing Team that travels weekly to interclub regattas within the Mid-Atlantic Yacht Racing Association, and even to participate in other regional and national sailing events.
