Selecting the right destination

Prefer a private desert island-type setting to celebrate with your friends and family? Spring signals the start of the yachting season on the Côte d’Azur, with the Cannes Film Festival opening the show. From May, the Riviera lights up as A-list celebrities descend to see and be seen at arguably the most glamorous film festival in the world. The best parties are, of course, on board the most exclusive superyachts, berthed in the marina right next to the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals.

Further along the coast, Monaco glitters with seven centuries of regal heritage. The iconic Port d’Hercule is within champagne-popping range of the gilded principality’s world-renowned gourmet restaurants, A-list clubs, and designer boutiques. This French-speaking island is perfect for a lavish New Year’s Eve celebration. Think cocktails on deck, al fresco dinner with friends before cranking up the sound system to celebrate the passing of midnight. Harbour Island, Bahamas

The Bahamas offers a variety of activities for parties aboard and ashore. From local restaurants, hanging out with friends at a lively beach bar, or your very own private sunset beach party, whatever you choose to do, the Bahamian culture will facilitate, with festivals, music, dancing and colourful parades continuing into the early hours. 'Fresh up' and enjoy life Bahmian-style.

Harbour Island has recently come into the limelight with the arrival of a handful of chic new places recently opening on the island. With its pink-sand beach and pretty pastel cottages, the shoreline provides a perfect backdrop to sunset cocktails on board, followed by a trip ashore to a party at the legendary Vic-Hum Club. The oldest nightclub on the island, the open-air dancefloor at this humble yet iconic destination has attracted celebrities the world over.

Choosing the right yacht

From the crew to the layout, the facilities and even the décor, there are many facets of a yacht that, when combined, will influence the success of a superyacht party. The most successful charter yachts lend themselves to any type of occasion, be it a cocktail party or formal dinner party.

Have fun with a theme

Nothing says party more than people dressing up, and themed parties are almost always popular among charter guests. They create memorable experiences – even more so when the yacht is decked out in appropriately themed decorations.

From an elegant James Bond-themed evening, perhaps with poker and blackjack tables set up, to a retro-style '60s party with a dancefloor and appropriate playlist, or Pirates of the Caribbean, they can revolve around just about any concept imaginable.

For those cruising in the Caribbean, consider a pirate party involving all the family. Many crews are well known for the creativity and polish of their themed parties. While keeping the younger guests entertained with a treasure hunt on the beach, you can enjoy sundowners on the sand.

Back on board enjoy drinks on the sun deck before dining al fresco on the main deck. If you're having a larger bash in port, have your pirate outfits sent ahead and the yacht dressed with pirate paraphernalia. Canapes and rum cocktails can be served in treasure chests!

While in the Mediterranean, perhaps cruising around the  Greek islands , a toga party might involve some Greek cuisine followed by dancing, and then a movie night under the stars with Mamma Mia or My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding on the big screen. Or while in Cannes, a Bollywood party, or in Monaco why not throw a Mexican fiesta during the Grand Prix?

Poolside parties

On the larger more modern superyachts spa pools are generally a given these days, and although some may be limited to a sun deck jacuzzi, the largest of the charter yachts usually have all manner of water features, ranging from infinity pools with waterfalls, glass-bottomed pools, swim-up bars, and pools with counter currents.

And then you have the real party yachts, with swimming pools that turn into dance floors, and built-in DJ booths for the ultimate occasion aboard. The 73m  TITANIA , for example, hosts her guests around the pool deck bar with seating for up to eight guests, and another four seats inside the pool itself, all complete with a DJ set up to create a real pool party atmosphere.

Consider your guest list

Whether your party is a small and intimate affair or a large, quayside event, most yachts can accommodate up to 12 guests while cruising and hundreds more while berthed alongside, when different rules apply.

However, understated elegance is key, with fewer guests and more quality time to socialise. In fact, 100-120 guests is often considered the tipping point of human intimacy and interaction, so keep this in mind when considering a larger gathering.

Entertainment

Entertainment systems have always played an important role in the overall yacht party experience. Audio-visual technologies have changed significantly over the past decade, and the most successful charter yachts feature the most up-to-date, state-of-the-art and fully-integrated entertainment systems throughout their guest areas. 

From indoor and outdoor entertainment facilities, and the latest audio-visual equipment (including on-demand movies and music systems available throughout all guest areas and strong Wi-Fi for streaming), to private cinema rooms and outdoor cinema set-ups, almost anything available on land is also possible at sea.

Music and speakers

Music is an essential part of any party, and whether you prefer the dulcet tones of Adele during dinner or the pumping beats of a live DJ set during a dockside party, music always sets the tone. Surround sound systems for yachts with their own dedicated cinemas have become the norm, while built-in speakers on the party deck are fine tuned to deliver the best possible audio quality regardless of the musical genre.

Some yachts have a dual-purpose feature - a sun deck, for example - that transforms into a party deck after dark and music entices guests from open-air dining on the bridge deck below to party upstairs. Live bands are no longer de rigeur, instead world-famous DJs can be booked by your Burgess charter broker to come on board and play their set for your guests, with some big names keen to play private gigs.

Gourmet dining with your own personal chef is obviously one of the principal attractions of any charter vacation, but however delicious the dishes may be, how your meals are presented will have a huge impact on the overall dining experience.

An al fresco or formal dining set-up large enough to seat the number of guests invited is of course a must. For larger, cocktail events, a few different open-air dining options are better suited. The trend for celebrity chefs catering for such large events is on the rise, working hand in hand with your own superyacht chef to create the ultimate tasty menu to wow your guests.

For some, proximity to the ocean is a must, so why not dine in a yacht's beach club right by the water’s edge. The 62m  BATON ROUGE , for example, features an ocean-level beach club that incorporates lounging areas and easy access to the water by day, and transforms into the ultimate al fresco dining area by night.

Alternatively, many modern yachts feature Teppanyaki grills – perfect for guests looking to experience something a little different in a tropical climate. Plus you and your guests get the chef's table experience with wonderful dishes prepared before your very eyes and served straight from the grill.

The raised aft deck seating area aboard the 56m MY SEANNA can be converted into a dancefloor complete with state-of-the-art sound. There's also a backlit bar and lounge/dining area on the bridge deck, a 10-person spa pool that has its own bar, and a beach club at water level. 

The aforementioned 73m  TITANIA also features a beach club, complete with sauna, which can then be converted into a nightclub to continue celebrations into the night. You could even have your make-up and hair done in the yacht's beauty salon before the evening celebrations begin.

Special touches make it memorable

Details make all the difference. Ambient lighting, an attentive crew, the quality of sound or the welcome cocktail, the most successful and memorable superyacht parties are those where the crews have gone the extra mile. The occasions will usually dictate the type of party and the style.

For example, an anniversary celebration might have a more romantic theme, with soft lighting and candles, and elegant crockery and flowers all adding to the intimate sense of occasion. A New Year’s Eve celebration or birthday might however require more of a fun or risqué theme. Whatever you want, it can be done.

Take your guests back in time on board classic 1974 Feadship Secret Life . Once a former passenger vessel, Dream was transformed into a private superyacht after nearly a decade of refit works. And while she is now bedecked in the glamorous interiors befitting a luxury charter, her vast interior spaces allow her to accommodate many more guests than would usually be able to step on board, with 18 suites for 36 guests and room for up to 40 members of crew. Party guests can arrive or depart in style thanks to the touch-and-go helipad, while a Japanese-style dining room with a teppanyaki grill, a private cinema, a two-level pool with a swim-up bar and a fully-equipped dive centre offer all the amenities for a variety of party themes and occasions.

Dream is managed by Hill Robinson with a weekly charter rate starting from €2,000,000.

The bridge deck on Royal Denship superyacht Force Blue , complete with a cocktail bar, professional DJ station and disco lighting offers the perfect setup for partying the night away. There’s also a sundeck hot tub, a games table in the saloon and an impressive walk-in wine cellar next to the formal dining room to keep guests entertained. The next day, stunning spa facilities will revive the sore-of-head, while the plain exhausted can retreat to the cinema. Currently undergoing an extensive winter refit, Force Blue will be back on the charter market this summer having been extended to 70 metres with an enlarged beach club and refreshed interiors.

Sea Breeze III

After undergoing an extensive refit in 2020, classic superyacht Sea Breeze III is back on the charter market, offering the perfect setting for an event or celebration by combining old-school charm with modern facilities. New additions include an extended swimming platform with a barbecue for al fresco celebrations, plus a hydrotherapy hot tub on the foredeck and a well-stocked toybox. As Sea Breeze III is permanently based in Auckland, New Zealand, guests stepping on board for a party can enjoy the scenic cruising grounds of the Hauraki Gulf and wider south pacific, complemented by locally-sourced seafood and speciality wines.

Sea Breeze III is managed by 37 south with a weekly charter rate starting from $65,000. 

Showcasing sporty lines and with a top speed of 38 knots, 50 metre  Da Vinci is one of the largest Mangustas available on the charter market. Launched in 2017, on board highlights include a large bathing platform, a spa pool on the 15 metre long foredeck, and an impressive open plan interior. The main saloon is the entertainment hub of the yacht, featuring a luxe marble bar and gilded, Gatsby-esque touches throughout.

Esmeralda's expansive decks are the ideal setting for a special anniversary, birthday or corporate event. The upper aft deck on this 62 metre superyacht has a bar, al fresco dining and optional awnings for protection from the sun. Meanwhile, guests can enjoy 360-degree views from the panoramic sun deck complete with a raised jacuzzi and sun loungers. Her striking, classic-inspired lines will turn heads in any port, while lavishly decorated interiors set the scene for a night of glamorous festivities.

Esmeralda is managed by Fraser with a weekly charter rate starting from $230,000.

After an extensive interior refit in 2018, this 73 metre  Lurssen is certainly in ship shape. There's space for 200 revellers on Titania's sun and pool decks alone, while a 3.8 metre stern extension houses a beach club with sauna, bar and sofas, which converts into a stylish nightclub for those looking to continue the party into the night. For smaller gatherings, the pool deck bar seats eight – with another four pool seats – and can be set up for a DJ. Primary charterers staying on board can get glammed up for events in the beauty salon with the help of the on board beautician before other guests arrive, then can unwind after the festivities with a treatment from the resident masseuse.

Firstly, you need to pick the right yacht. They come in all shapes and sizes, and some are better for parties than others. You need to pick one that is the right size but in terms of space for guests, not a boat that is big because it has an onboard gym, helipad, etc. You need one that can hold dozens of guests comfortably. 

One-Day vs. Multi-Day

The need for beds and extra facilities will also come into play if this is a multi-day event. If you are planning on guests staying on the yacht, you need one big enough to house them, not just one with enough space for a party.

Bedding Options

Many yachts will have multiple sleeping options, which would include couches that can be turned into beds. It is important to remember that there are limitations; therefore, you need to have a set guest list for those who will sleep on the yacht well before the party date.

Instead, choose a yacht that has ample cover or below-deck space, or ensure you have large umbrellas that can be set up in the event of a downpour.

Once you have chosen your yacht, a theme is a great way to add a layer of fun to the entire event. When it comes to themes, the sky is the limit, as you can choose almost anything, and it can easily work in a yacht setting.

Finally, it is always important for you and your guests to understand the safety aspect of being on a yacht, especially if you go out to sea. Consulting with the captain beforehand will allow you to create a mini “safety briefing” that can be included with the invitations.

What to Wear to a Yacht Party – Your Dress Code Guide!

Dressing for a boat party is different than any other kind of event. While you have good times, you need to look great and most importantly, feel comfortable in your clothing. Also, you need to take some safety precautions into consideration as boats have unpredictable movements. After all, you want to have an exceptional time! Most yacht events take place in the summer, so you need to dress accordingly to the weather. What will be your event about? A Day party? A night party? In this article, you will find out exactly what to wear to a yacht party.

Most parties are held during the day. You will probably spend most of your time enjoying dancing on the deck with a cocktail in your hand or swimming in the water, so you need an attire comfortable to wear and easy to pull on/off!

• Choose a swimsuit or a bikini to wear under your clothes. Make sure to pick a color that suits your attire.
• A flowy dress, short skirt, airy beach pants, or a short over your swimsuit will be perfect for this kind of party. You can also match them with a summary layer or a loose blouse.
• As for the shoes, flat sandals with soft soles will get you out of trouble. High heels are an absolute no-no as they are not safe on a boat and can scratch the deck.

Accessories

• You should be wearing sunglasses during the day, but not just any, you need polarized sunglasses to protect 100% your eyes from the UV rays of the sun
• Try to store your stuff like sunglasses, makeup, and hair clips in a waterproof handbag. It could be useful if it gets wet!
• Makeup Use only waterproof makeup during the day
• Opt for a tight swimsuit if you plan to wear it under your cloth. Otherwise, there are stylish good looking swimwears that look more like dress shorts, which you can match with loose shirts and a light jacket
• The most appropriate clothes for men are loose pants, boating shorts , and jean shorts assorted with light shirts, or polo and a loose vest.
• Avoid flip-flops and opt for nonmarking boating shoes , like Sperry. These come in a wide variety of styles to choose from and will match any outfit. With these shoes, you can walk in complete tranquility without worrying about hurting your feet or slipping on the wet deck.
• Opt only for a waterproof watch if you intend to wear one. You don’t want to bother taking it off, and on each time you go for a swim.
• As mentioned for women above, the same concept applies to men. A good pair of polarized sunglasses is a must!

Night Party

In the evening, you can still wear casual clothes but a bit more dressy. The thin, soft, and flowy textile is more appropriate for night parties. Bring a light jacket with you. It gets cooler in the evening.

• Princess waist dresses, skirt with flounces, loose pants assorted with dressy tops are the perfect choices. A chic option will be to wear a color-coordinated wrap or a jacket. A long dress harmonized with a nice pair of chandelier earrings is a great option if you opt to dress chicly
• Here, again, avoid high heels. Flats and low-heeled sandals will be perfect and will suit any outfit.
• Men should wear comfortable pants with a dress shirt or even a polo, and a light jacket on top.
• I will say it again, the best shoes to wear on a boat is Sperry, but hey, this is your party, you can pick any other type of boat shoes as long as they are non-marking.
• Girls, even if high heels elongate your legs and make you more attractive. It is preferable to avoid wearing them on a boat. Opt for boating shoes !
• Mosquitoes love humidity, especially in the late afternoon. You should bring a repellent with you. You Never know.
• Try to use only waterproof accessories
• The sun beat down during the day, bring sunscreen and wear long sleeves to protect you from the sun
• You can wear long dresses but not too long to avoid tripping.
• If you are unsure about the type of party, ask the person that organizes the event on the yacht what is and not appropriate.
• It’s easy to get dehydrated on a yacht because you don’t feel the sun as you are most of the time in the water or on the deck and at sea, there are always winds. PS, wear a hat and drink a lot of water!

Yes, I agree with you, it is easy to forget things. This is why it is important to write down what you need before you go:) Once you are on the boat, you cannot go back unless you live nearby.

You cannot wear high heels on a boat, there are few reasons to this. It is not comfortable, not safety and it can damage the deck:) You wouldn’t want this happen.

I have been on a yacht for a dinner party sailing in heels! It was a bit troublesome especially going up and down stairs.

Is this post geared toward Northeast US or somewhere else in the world? Here in Florida, it is absolutely okay to wear flip flops to a day yacht party as long as they aren’t cheap! Sperry’s or other boat shoes are acceptable at night for men if the rest of the outfit is semi-casual.

Yes, this article concerns everyone. No matter the country. Of course, you can wear flip flops , you can even go barefoot if you wish to, but the risk of hurting your feet or slipping on the deck is much higher. Most charter companies require wearing boat shoes because if something happens and someone didn’t follow the guideline, then the company or the owner of the boat will not be covered by their assurance.

However, Sperry’ shoes are the most recommended on boats as they are comfortable and stylish.

But, again, as long as it is non-marking shoes, you are good to go!

• Departure marina for all cabin/spot bookings will be provided no later than 15 days before the trip is scheduled. In Split area there are 5 different departure marinas and SailWeek uses all of them for our Croatia routes. All marinas are easily accessible with public transportation, transfers or by taxi.
• Departure marina for full yacht bookings depends on the location of the booked yacht which is stated on the yacht info on the pre-booking page.
• After booking you’ll receive login link where you can find your booking details and arrival info document with instructions how to get to your departure marina. Arrival info document for cabin/spot bookings will be provided no later than 15 days before the trip is scheduled.
• Check-in desk is open from 10am until 5pm in your departure marina. Let us know in advance if you have a late flight.
• We aim to sail out around 6-7 pm.
• We return to the Marina Friday afternoon and latest check-out time is until 9am on Saturday morning. If you have to go earlier you can do an early check-out. Please let us know in advance if you require early check-out.

“Groceries for breakfast and lunch” are included in Premium & Deluxe spot bookings only and delivered straight to your yachts on Saturday afternoon before you start your sailing trip. It includes all basic household items necessary for the week on the yacht. Breakfast groceries such as cereals (cornflakes and muesli), fruit, nutella, ham, bacon, cheese, spread cheese, butter, mozzarella, eggs, milk, yogurt, coffee and tea.

Mediterranean style groceries for the light lunch include pasta, rice, tomato sauce, pesto, cooking cream, parmigiano, canned tuna, vegetables (like tomato, cucumbers, zucchini, onion…), fresh fruit (like bananas, water melon, peaches, apples…), olive oil, sunflower oil, balsamic vinegar and spices salt and pepper.

You’ll get a couple of liters of soft drinks (orange and apple juice) and bottled water every day.

Furthermore the package contains paper towels, soaps, dishwasher detergent, sponges, toilet papers and garbage bags.

With the food packages provided, simply preparation is required. There are enough groceries for breakfast and one meal per day (half board) but you have to prepare it by yourself. You are also required to keep the yacht tidy and clean the dishes after yourself. *

*  Those who are booking a full yacht have the option of buying one of our handpicked food packages and booking a host who will cook and prepare the meals and clean after.

We are not going to control how much you eat and how often you are preparing your meals. As said, there are enough groceries for breakfast and one meal per day (half board). If you run out of food you may bring your own food and drinks on board any time at no additional charge. There are local shops and supermarkets at most shore stops to re-supply if needed.

On your yacht full bedding will be provided so you do not need to bring a sleeping bag.

We recommend soft bags, suitcases or frameless backpacks, plus a small day pack or carry bag. No external framed bags please, as they can damage or mark the walls of the yacht/cabin. Please limit your luggage to a maximum of 20kg.

Please note that due to space and weight restrictions on our yachts, passengers with too much luggage on departure may be told that they cannot take their entire luggage with them. SailWeek will provide secure luggage storage during the trip for all large framed suitcases or any other piece of luggage for weekly rate of 30 Euros per piece.

Politics | today is election day: what voters need to know about republican primary and south florida elections.

Today is Election Day.

Florida Republicans have a presidential preference primary on March 19, in which they can show support for former President Donald Trump, or express opposition by voting for one of the other Republicans on the ballot even though the rest of the field has dropped out of the race.

All voters — Democrats, Republicans and no party affiliation/independents — can vote in the four Broward and 22 Palm Beach County cities, towns and villages with nonpartisan elections.

In-person voting

Neighborhood polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Anyone who is in line at 7 p.m. is allowed to vote.

Unlike in-person early voting, which ended Sunday, people must vote in their assigned polling place on Election Day.

Some polling place locations have changed since the 2022 elections. Alison Novoa, director of strategic initiatives at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office, advised people to check where to vote.

The latest voter identification cards have polling place locations, and people can also find the right place to vote on elections offices websites.

People need a current, valid photo ID with a signature to vote.

Mail ballots

Vote-by-mail ballots must be in the possession of the supervisor of elections office in the county where a voter lives by 7 p.m. Tuesday.

It’s too late to return a mail ballot via the Postal Service.

Postmarks don’t count for mail ballot returns. In every election, there are ballots that arrive late and can’t be counted under Florida law. In close elections there often have been enough uncounted ballots to potentially change the results.

There is a deadline exception: For elections involving federal offices, including the Republican presidential primary, an extra 10 days are allowed for military and overseas ballots to be returned and still get counted.

People who have a vote-by-mail ballot are allowed to vote at a neighborhood polling place on Election Day. But mail ballots may not be turned in at local polling stations.

Presidential primary

Seven Republicans are on the presidential preference primary ballot.

Trump, who’s locked up the nomination, is the only active candidate.

All the others — including Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Gov. Nikki Haley of South Carolina, former Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey and former Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas — have dropped out.

All votes will be counted, even those cast for those who have dropped out. As a result, political analysts will examine the share of the vote that goes to non-Trump candidates.

Florida has closed primaries, which means someone who wants to participate must be a registered Republican. There is no Democratic presidential primary.

Local elections

Four Broward communities and 22 cities, towns and villages in Palm Beach County have elections for local offices that are nonpartisan and open to all voters regardless of party affiliation.

There are also referendums in three small pockets of unincorporated Palm Beach County in which voters are being asked if they want to be annexed into nearby cities.

All voters — Democrats, Republicans, no party affiliation independents, and members of minor parties — can participate in nonpartisan city, town and village elections.

Even though candidates don’t run with party labels, the Democratic and Republican party organizations in both Broward and Palm Beach counties have been active in municipal elections . They’ve been advising voters registered in their parties which candidates are Democrats and Republicans.

“There are many tight municipal races and our local candidates need your vote,” Palm Beach County Republican Chair Kevin Neal wrote in an email to party supporters on Monday. “Victories in the General Election in November start with victories in the Municipal elections in March. We have seen in recent years how important it is to win local elections.”

What are we voting for today?

Today you can vote for the person you would like to see running for president in the general election in November.

Can I vote for anyone I want in the Florida presidential primary?

Florida is a closed primary state, which means you can only vote in the races in the political party you are registered for. If you are registered Democrat, you may not vote in the Republican primary, and vice versa. Independents, Green Party, people registered as no political affiliation and others may not vote today.

Who's on the ballot for the Republican presidential primary in Florida?

Technically there are seven Republican candidates for the presidential nomination on the ballot and you may vote for the one you favor. But all of them except for former president Donald Trump have withdrawn their nominations. On today's ballot you may see:

• Ryan Binkley  - withdrawn
• Chris Christie  - withdrawn
• Ron DeSantis  - withdrawn
• Nikki Haley - withdrawn
• Asa Hutchinson  - withdrawn
• Vivek Ramaswamy  - withdrawn

Can I vote for Joe Biden? Is there a Democratic Primary?

Not this year. He's already the nominee.

In 2023 the Florida Democrat ic Party no minated Joseph R. Biden Jr.  in late 2023 as its only candidate and  chose him for this November's ballot .

Why should I vote in the primary if it's already decided?

It's still a good idea to vote whenever you can, as a symbol of democracy and set an example for your children.

The primary is also a chance to let your political party know how you feel about the candidates and the party's direction . In Michigan's primary, 13% of Democrats voted for "Uncommitted" rather than Biden or any other candidates as a way to protest the administration's support of Israel's military actions in Gaza.

Where do I vote?

You must vote at your polling precinct, listed on your voter registration card. You also can look up your precinct by selecting your county:

• Hillsborough
• Indian River

What do I need to vote in Florida?

You must bring a current. valid photo ID with a signature. These are the forms of ID that are accepted:

• Florida driver’s license
• Florida identification card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
• United States passport
• Debit or credit card
• Military identification
• Student identification
• Retirement center identification
• Neighborhood association identification
• Public assistance identification
• Veteran health identification card issued by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs
• License to carry a concealed weapon or firearm issued pursuant to s. 790.06
• Employee identification card issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the Federal Government, the state, a county, or a municipality.

What if I don't have a valid ID? Can I still vote in Florida?

If you don't have one of the IDs above with you, you will still be allowed to vote what's called a provisional ballot. That will be checked to make sure you're eligible to vote in that precinct and it will be counted as long as your signature matches the one in your voter registration record. You'll be given a written notice of rights with more information on how to make sure your vote was counted.

If you cast a provisional ballot, you have until 5 p.m. on the second day after the election to present evidence of your eligibility (like the ID card you forgot, for example).

When are the polls open in Florida?

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. local time. If you are in line when the polls close stay in line, you will be allowed to vote.

Election day Ohio: What you need to know to vote

Ohioans head to the polls today to vote in the primary election that features a tight Republican contest for U.S. Senate.

Businessman Bernie Moreno , state Sen. Matt Dolan, R-Chagrin Falls , and Secretary of State Frank LaRose are running for the chance to take on Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in November. All eyes are on the race as it could determine which party controls the U.S. Senate .

At the top of the ticket is the presidential primary. President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump already secured their party's nomination, meaning the outcome in Ohio will largely be symbolic.

Voters will also decide primaries for who should represent them in Congress and the Ohio House and Senate. There's also a Democratic primary for the Ohio Supreme Court on the ballot, along with county races and local issues in certain areas.

Here's everything you need to know to vote today.

Where do I vote?

Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on March 19. You can find your polling place at voteohio.gov .

How to check if you're registered to vote in Ohio

You can check your registration status at voterlookup.ohiosos.gov .

You can still turn in your mail-in ballot

Absentee ballots returned by mail had to be postmarked by Monday.

If you haven't mailed your ballot yet, you can take it to your local board of elections before polls close tonight. Do not take your mail-in ballot to a polling location.

Ohio now requires photo ID to vote in-person on election day

Ohio now requires voters to show a photo ID when they cast in-person ballots. The ID must be unexpired, but it doesn't need to have your current address on it. Other documents, such as utility bills and bank statements, are no longer accepted.

The following documents qualify:

• Ohio driver's license
• Ohio state ID
• U.S. passport or passport card
• U.S. Military ID, Ohio National Guard ID or U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ID
• Interim identification issued by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles

What if I forget my ID?

If you don't have your ID or run into other problems at the polls on Tuesday, you can cast a provisional ballot.

Voters have four days to provide any missing information to election officials. Boards of elections have until eight days after the election to determine which provisional ballots can be counted.

Are ballot drop boxes available?

Each county has a drop box set up at the board of elections. You can bring your completed absentee ballot there any time before polls close. All drop boxes are monitored by video surveillance.

Yacht Party: By Day or Night?

Having a yacht party is a great way to make your bash stand out from the rest. From the breathtaking views and first-class service to the simple fact that you’re aboard a yacht, there are many unique characteristics.

One of the stark differences from a typical event venue is that, once aboard, you’ll enjoy a beautiful cruise on the water–an exciting feature for our clients and their guests. Depending on the time of day, your celebration can bask in the famous Southern California sunshine or sparkle under the night stars. Yacht parties offer a lot of flexibility making them an ideal choice for almost any occasion.

This leads to a question we often hear from our clients: Should we hold our event during the day or at night?

While both have their advantages, there are a few questions to consider first.

How formal is it?

Evaluate the scope of your event. Do you envision cocktail dresses and sharp suits? Formal gowns and classic tuxedos? Then your event is best suited for the evening.

If you’re opting for a more casual feel with a bright, airy vibe then daytime is probably best.

A general rule of thumb is that formal events (e.g. weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, proms, corporate galas , etc.) are planned in the evening while lighter celebrations (e.g. family reunions, baby and bridal showers, engagement and graduation parties, etc.) occur during the day.

Who’s invited?

Scan your guest list and get a sense of the invitees.

Are they early birds? Night owls? Are their weekends filled with work shifts and kid’s soccer games? If you answered “yes,” then a night yacht party will most likely be preferred.

If the group is a little more flexible (i.e. not tied to a specific schedule) then a midday jaunt will probably work just fine.

What’s on the menu?

Decide what you plan to serve your guests. If you’re feeling a three-course sit down dinner complete with bread service and passed hors d’oeuvres, the evening is more appropriate.

Daytime events are a little more comfortable and often call for a more casual setting featuring a fantastic buffet or a gorgeous brunch spread. Either way, food is a MUST for any event and should be served accordingly.

Sunset, stars or sunny skies?

Many clients consider the gorgeous backdrop of the Marina del Rey harbor as an enhanced feature of their event. In this case, clients look forward to a spectacular sunset for amazing photos while others rely on the twinkling lights of the harbor and stars to add a romantic feel.

Our daytime clients really emphasize the sights on the water and enjoy the incomparable views of the Los Angeles coastline–from Catalina Island and the Palos Verdes peninsula all the way to Malibu. Daytime events are also fun for spotting wildlife and seeing other yachts in the harbor.

A nighttime yacht party will have  a different vibe. Depending on the nature of your celebration, dancing and socializing might be more like dancing at a nightclub. Alternatively, for smaller celebrations, the night sky is the perfect backdrop for a luxurious  and intimate experience.

Your choices depend on what your goal is. What do you want to experience with your guests?

Still Not Sure? 

Consider how you want your event to look. For example, enchancements like lighting will produce different looks depending on the time of day. Did you want to do special uplighting? A gobo on the dance floor or on the side of the yacht? If yes, then maybe an evening event is best.

If you have specific colors or a theme you want to feature, then consider whether or not a daylight or an evening yacht party will complement your color palette. Putin showcases his Ukraine ambitions at Red Square celebration after election win

MOSCOW — Vladimir Putin took to the Red Square stage Monday for an election celebration that seemed to carry a grander message for the flag-waving crowd of thousands, and for the world: Having extended his rule over Russia , his focus would be tightening his grip on Ukrainian territory.

“Together, hand in hand — we will move on,” he proclaimed before singing along to the national anthem, just hours after claiming a landslide win in a stage-managed election with no opposition.

Flanked by his favorite musical acts, pro-war celebrities and the three officially approved figures put on the ballot with him, he led this celebratory event to mark the 10th anniversary of his annexation of the Crimean Peninsula . Ukrainian officials told NBC News that the party was nothing but propaganda, and decried as illegal coercion the votes held for the first time in four newly annexed regions .

After three days of voting, Russia’s electoral commission said Putin had received 87% of the ballots, the biggest win of his political career, in what the Kremlin painted as an unequivocal public stamp of approval for his invasion of Ukraine , even though critics of the war were barred from running.

Just hours later, the Russian leader was in Red Square, where his face was beamed onto huge screens so that it could be seen from Lenin’s mausoleum and beyond.

From a stage beneath the colorful domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral, the music was at times as loud as thunder and the red-brick walls of the Kremlin flickered with the lights of the stage. The crowd — mostly students, some of whom said they had been given free tickets to the event — cheered and sang along as Russian stars performed patriotic ballads.

Mostly under 20 years old, many had their faces painted in the colors of the Russian flag. Putin, in power for the last 24 years, is the only leader they have ever known. They may be well into adulthood before seeing another.

“He has made Russia a lot better than it was,” Maksim Druzhinin, 18, said, speaking in English. Asked whether he expected to turn 30 before Putin might leave office, the teen, who is a student at the capital’s prestigious Higher School of Economics, said: “There is a question: Who else?”

“He has been keeping the country together for many years,” said Alexandra Volkova, a programming student, speaking in Russian. “He is definitely the most reliable candidate out there,” the 18-year-old said.

Of course, the Kremlin’s crackdown on dissent means gauging public opinion in Russia is difficult. And this was an especially pro-Putin crowd, not filled with those who turned out at noon Sunday in a silent show of defiance called for by the opposition, or quietly resigned to life under Putin.

‘Crimea is not Russian’

Putin used the occasion to promise to extend the Russian railroad system all the way to occupied Crimea, as an alternative to the bridge connecting the peninsula to the Russian mainland that has come under frequent Ukrainian attacks .

The Russian leader also commended the people of Crimea for what he said was their dedication to Moscow.

“They are our pride,” Putin said. “They never separated themselves from Russia. And this is what allowed Crimea to return to our common family.”

That “return,” which boosted Putin’s approval ratings and set the course for Russia’s expansionism in the decade to follow, is considered an illegal land grab by most of the international community, rather than a historic homecoming.

Crimea, which is crucial to Russia’s naval power , has been used as a major hub and launchpad for the war against Ukraine, which has vowed to reclaim it along with all of its occupied territory and has increasingly targeted Russian military targets on the peninsula.

“Crimea is not Russian,” Tamila Tasheva, Kyiv’s permanent representative in Crimea, told NBC News. “Legally, the territory is Ukrainian. And this, by the way, is very clearly understood subconsciously in Russia itself, and that is why such ‘celebrations’ are held in order to convince themselves of the nonexistent,” she said of the event in Red Square.

Eight years after occupying Crimea, Russia annexed four other regions from Ukraine in 2022: Kherson and Zaporizhzhia in the south, as well as Donetsk and Luhansk in the east. Some of those regions are only partially controlled by Russian troops, though that didn’t stop the Kremlin from holding a vote that saw armed men at some polling stations.

The Russian electoral commission said that in four out of the five annexed regions, including Crimea, voters gave Putin more than 90% of the vote.

These results are “fictitious” and are devoid of any legitimacy while Ukrainians there who oppose the Kremlin continue to suffer at the hands of the Russians, said Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Tasheva dismissed the claimed results as “primitive propaganda.”

But for the Kremlin, the message of the three-day election, and its Monday night celebration, was clear. Ukraine will have to fight to keep hold of its territory, with Putin’s eyes now set firmly beyond the Red Square stage to the battlefields that will define his legacy.

Where do you vote in the 2024 Florida primary? How to find you polling place today

MIAMI - The Florida 2024 presidential primary  takes place on Tuesday, March 19 and if you have not already voted by mail, here's how to find your polling location to cast your ballot in person.

This year, only registered Republican voters are eligible to vote in the March 19 Presidential Preference Primary Election. 

Besides former President Donald Trump, there are six other candidates  on the ballot, all of whom have already dropped out of the race: 

• Niky Haley, former UN Ambassador 
• Ron DeSantis, Florida governor
• Chris Christie, former NJ governor 
• Asa Hutchinson, former Arkansas governor 
• Vivek Ramaswamy, entrepreneur and politician
• Ryan L. Binkley, pastor, businessman and politician

There will be no ballot/election for Democrats since the Florida Democratic Party only provided the name of Joseph R. Biden Jr. as their preferred candidate.

How to find your voting location 

If you are a registered voter in Miami-Dade , the county has set up a page on its website where you can get personalized information, including your polling location. 

If you are a registered Democrat, you will get the following message: "Our records indicate you are not eligible to vote in this election due to your current party affiliation." 

The website also allows you to see your current voter information, review your current voting district, voter information (address, political party, polling location, etc.). It also allows you to request a mail-in ballot, check the status of your mail ballot, and view your customized sample ballot for the upcoming election.

When do polls open and close? 

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. It is important to know that if you are in line by the time polls close, you will still be able to cast your ballot. 

And don't forget to bring one or two forms of valid and current identification that include your signature and photo.   

How and where to return a vote-by-mail ballot

A vote-by-mail ballot can be returned by mail or delivered in person. If returned by mail, it can be returned by the US postal service or other carrier, as long as the ballot is received by Election Day.

Only overseas voters and active members of the military have the option to return their ballots by fax. 

Vote-by-mail ballots may be returned and deposited into secure drop boxes at Supervisors of Elections' main and branch offices until 7 p.m. on Election Day. 

Can you cast your vote online in Florida?  

In Florida, you can register to vote online, but you can't cast your vote online. 

If you are currently not registered to vote, you can do so on  Florida's election website

Florida is a closed primary state, which means only voters who are registered members of a political party may vote for their respective party's candidates.
