57 metre Trinity motor yacht Lady Sara sold

The 57 metre motor yacht Lady Sara has been sold with Jason Dunbar at Luke Brown Yachts representing the seller while the buyer was introduced by Craig Timm at 4 Yachts_._

This was a complex sale, in that the previous owner was unable to keep up repayments on the yacht and she was repossessed by the owner’s bank and put up for auction. At the auction, the same bank was the highest bidder and instructed Luke Brown Yachts to find a private buyer – successfully as it turned out.

Designed by Geoff Van Aller , Lady Sara was built in aluminium by US yard Trinity Yachts to ABS class and delivered in 2012. A voluminous interior in fine marbles and stone by Evan K Marshall accommodates 12 guests in six cabins consisting of a main deck master suite, four identical double suites and a twin, all with entertainment centres, television screens and marble en suite bathroom facilities. Also, there is accommodation for 13 crew in seven cabins.  

The main saloon lounge area has a full service bar immediately aft with five bar stools, while comfortable relaxation is provided by two settees and loose armchairs along with a low cocktail table. Forward is a formal dining area seating 12 guests, separated from the lounge by a low polished stone top buffet concealing an entertainment centre with a 42 inch Hitachi television screen on a rise and fall mechanism.

The full beam sky lounge has a U-shaped wet bar forward with a polished stone top and is furnished with settees and cocktail tables along with an entertainment centre including a 42 inch Sharp television screen and a Kaleidescape system delivering on-demand audio and video throughout the yacht.

The sundeck is finished with teak decking and offers a large Jacuzzi forward with an open sunbathing area further aft complete with four chaise lounges. Next aft is a semi-enclosed bar with a fridge, icemaker and liquid propane gas barbecue, all under a hard top. Twin 3,384hp Caterpillar diesel engines give her a cruising speed of 14 knots and a range of 2,560 nautical miles.

The asking price of Lady Sara has been withheld.

Former Patriot National CEO to Lose Mega Yacht Lady Sara in Court-Ordered Auction

Mariano owned the yacht through a Cayman Islands company named Lady Sara Ltd. Filings with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida indicated that Fifth Third Bank provided a $32.3 million loan to buy the yacht in 2015. The bank contacted Mariano about default on the loan from April to June 2017 and then filed a lawsuit against Mariano and Lady Sara Ltd. In July 2018. Fifth Third alleged that about $29 million remain unpaid. Court filings indicate that Mariano guaranteed Lady Sara’s loan.

Court papers also indicate that in April 2018, neither Mariano nor the company opposed the relief the bank south. The U.S. Marshal arrested Lady Sara the following month. The Florida court ruled in June that the money owed totaled nearly $35 million, which included $28 million in principal, plus interest owed and fees. The total sum, however, excluded legal fees and other costs that the court will determine at a later date. In the same ruling, the court ordered the sale of Lady Sara.

The auction includes the superyacht, with accommodations for 12 guests across six staterooms plus 13 crewmembers, as well as all of her furnishings and tenders. The tenders include a 39-foot Nor-Tech center console. Lady Sara has a massive sundeck with an alfresco dining area and a Jacuzzi. Evan Marshall designed her interior. She was listed for sale in May 2017 for $36 million and was a popular charter vessel, commanding $368,500 per week.

The winning bidder will need to pay 10% of the bid immediately on the day of the auction and then has seven days to pay the remaining balance. Failure to pay the remainder will result in forfeiture of the original deposit. The U.S. Marshal can use those forfeited funds to repay its own expenses in relation to the sale and any new notice of sale.

Mariano, former CEO and majority owner of insurance services provider Patriot National and worker’s compensation firm Guarantee Insurance Co., is embroiled in a lawsuit that blames and auditor and hedge fund investors for destroying the two companies. Florida state regulators have also gone after Mariano to repay $13 million to his former firms and have reportedly targeted his homes for seizure.

With expansive deck spaces meant for lounging and entertaining, her main deck aft dining table seats 12 and is easily accessible from her side decks, making crew service all the more effective. Aft of the skylounge is a second al fresco dining area with furniture arranged to encourage intimate conversations. Directly up, the sun deck features an enclosable fitness area, a Jacuzzi with sunpads, and sun loungers.

Having had only 2 owners since she was built, the LADY SARA yacht for sale is powered by two Caterpillar engines of 3,384hp each, which give her a cruising speed of 14 knots, and a maximum speed of 21 knots. ABS-classed and MCA-compliant, the 782GT vessel has just completed a 5-year survey.
