Nauticat yachts are returning
The history dates back to the late 1950s, when the founders cast the first small fiberglass boats. in 1966, local sailors asked them to build a comfortable 10-meter motor sailboat with a suitable wheelhouse. nauticat 33 was born, and the designer of this yacht was v. aarnipalo, a finnish engineer. the overall shape of the hull was not something exceptionally new, it was very reminiscent of the sturdy scandinavian structures that were often seen fighting through the stormy baltic sea or decorated with flowers and good mood during festivities under the midnight sun. as nauticat 33 became more and more popular and the company was developing, the demand for larger boats was natural. nauticat 44 and 36, developed by v. aarnipalo, later accompanied nauticat 33. due to the international cooperation, another nauticat 38 motor sailboat was born in 1975., in the early 1980s, nauticat 52 was launched. it was the largest yacht built by the shipyard, and later the model 52 was replaced by the nauticat 521, and this exceptional offshore yacht received younger sisters called 43 and 40. all three yachts were created on the sparkman & stephens drawing board. these yachts were very different from the traditional nauticat, both in terms of design and performance. these yachts were the first steps in the direction of sailing yachts with the wheelhouse, which were to be presented later. the wheelhouse was lower than before, the hull looked more like a sailboat, and the entrance was in the cockpit, and not from the side of the wheelhouse, as before. the models 521, 43 and 40 were designed to cross the ocean, and this is easy to see if you look, for example, at the capacity of the fuel tank and the water tank. for some time in the early 1980s, the plant even produced ordinary s-series nauticat sailboats, such as the s-300, s-320, s-340 and s-380. the s-300, 340 and 380 were previously called finnsailer and after renamed nauticats when nauticat yachts bought the forms and rights to these beautiful yachts..

Nauticat Files For Bankruptcy

Nauticat Yachts Oy, based in Riihikoski, Finland, has filed for bankruptcy. Having produced high-quality yachts for decades, the company – originally founded by Pentti Siltala more than 50 years ago in Turku – has now ceased operations.
Nauticat was one of the most well-known producers of motorsailers in the world. Around 1,300 units of its best-selling model, the iconic Nauticat 331 (originally the Nauticat 33), have been built since its launch in 1968.
The total number of Nauticats delivered over the years exceeds 3,000 yachts.
Nauticat Yachts Oy, the name of the company since 2005, was for decades known as Siltala Yachts Oy. Kaj Gustafsson served as managing director since the early 90s, and was later joined by his sons Patrik and Martin as owners and part of the management since the end of the 90s.
After several tough years, Nauticat’s owners were forced to file for bankruptcy and the company was officially declared bankrupt by the Varsinais-Suomi district court on May 16, 2018.
Attorney Hannu Ylönen from Krogerus Attorneys Ltd was appointed as the estate administrator of Nauticat Yachts Oy’s bankruptcy estate.
“We have faced some hard years and serious difficulties in the same way that many other sailboat producers have experienced,” says ex-finance director Martin Gustafsson.
“The properties, including the factory, office, all moulds and the brand, are now for sale. We have kindly been asked to act as advisors to the lawyers handling this matter. The aim is to continue the production of Nauticats – but by whom and where, honestly we just don’t know that yet,” Gustafsson adds.

the History of the shipyard Nauticat yachts Oy dates back to the late 50-ies of the last century, when the nearby Turku a group of enthusiasts began to build a small boat of then a new material - fiberglass. After a few years, one local resident asked the firm to build a 10-meter sailing yacht with a high cabin (pilot house). This 33-tucovica with classic nautical lines and began the success of the Nauticat, which has become today one of the trendsetter in construction of sailing yachts.

Insolvency : Now Nauticat is also affected

The Varsinais-Suomi District Court declared Nauticat Yachts OY in Riihikoski insolvent on 16 May, i.e. two days ago. The shipyard has now issued an initial statement to customers and dealers. An insolvency administrator has been appointed by the court to temporarily manage the business. It is not yet clear what will happen to Nauticat. The managing directors from the founding Gustafsson family could not be reached for comment by telephone.
In Germany, the Nauticat brand is represented by Gründl Bootsimport GmbH in Bönningstedt near Hamburg. Managing Director Richard Gründl told YACHT online that, as far as he knows, production is currently continuing in Riihikoski. Initially, all Nauticat yachts still under construction are to be completed and delivered to customers as a matter of priority. Gründl himself has already delivered all the yachts sold through him. Customers in Germany are therefore not directly affected by the insolvency.
Nauticat has been building robust and traditional motorsailers and sturdy yachts with pilothouses since the early 1950s. The shipyard's range currently comprises a total of ten types between 10 and 16 metres in hull length.

Encouraged by the success created by the Nauticat 37, the new 385 was introduced in 2005. The Nauticat 385 replaced the legendary Nauticat 39. Our mission, which was not simple, was to create a new yacht, that would be in every detail superior to the Nauticat 39. Kaj , Patrik and our skilful workforce managed to design a yacht that in every aspect will satisfy even the most demanding sailor.
In 2005 we also introduced the Nauticat 351, which is an improved version of the Nauticat 35. What is new in comparison with the 35 is a completely new deck design, new keel and rudder, and bottom strengthening framework.
Early in spring 2009 the new Nauticat 441 was presented at the boatshow in Düsseldorf and soon after in Helsinki. The 441 is the largest yacht in our range of traditional motorsailers.This classic motorsailer is now after significant modifications including a new deck and new shape on aft section of the hull ready to sail with full speed ahead.
In summer of 2010 the new stunning Nauticat 525 was launched!

The first pavilion of Crocus Expo IEC hosted an extraordinary exposition of the 5th International exhibition of yachts and boats Moscow Boat Show. The show had been incredibly famous for five years already not only thanks to the specialists of the market segment as well as professional sportsmen but also thanks to those who consider sailing sport to be their hobby and well cherished dream.

The organizer of the project was the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre. The show was supported by Aston Martin Moscow, Burevestnik Group logistics department and the Yachting specialized magazine.
The exposition space increased up to 30 000 sq m and was accommodated in all 4 exhibition halls of the fairgrounds! 280 Russian (Arkhangelsk, Vyborg, Kazan, Kaluga, Republic of Karelia, Moscow and Moscow region, Nizhny Novgorod, Novorossiysk, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, St. Petersburg, Sverdlovsk region, Sochi, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen and Yaroslavl region) and foreign ( Denmark , Germany , Holland , Greece , Spain , Italy , Cyprus , China , Latvia , Poland , USA , Turkey , Ukraine, Finland , France , Montenegro and Croatia ) companies participate in the show.
Moscow Boat Show provided the perfect platform from which to preview new products, evaluate market trends, and establish long-lasting and commercially profitable partnerships. Despite the dynamic changes taking place in Russia and the rapid growth of the yachting sector, the show continued to complement and reflect the industry’s demand and is a promotional opportunity not to be missed!
Unique exhibits were presented at the show for the first time: exposition of private submarines from U-Boat Russia company, Marquis Yachts 420 SB motor yacht from Sport Bridge S. Marine series, SAGA-415 yacht from Saga Boats Norwegian shipyard, Jetlev-Flyer from MS Watersports.
Moscow Boat Show a Great Success
More than 400 yachts were displayed within the frames of the event including the largest boats ever exhibited in Russia – the 19-meter giant motor yacht Princess 54 as well as the Princess 50 yacht from Nord Marine and Baja speed boat from Burevestnik.
Domfinland OY unveiled a luxury project from Finnish real estate: a seaside premium class hotel in Hanko named consonant with the location Merihanko.
The trade fair was traditionally opened by a Gala Opening Ceremony. Arcady Zlotnikov, First Deputy Director Crocus Expo IEC, was the first to take the floor at the official opening ceremony. He greeted warmly exhibitors, guests and visitors of Moscow Boat Show. Nikolay Krjuchek, Deputy Chief of the State Inspection on Small size Vessels (GIMS) of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of Russia, Georguiy Shaiduko, Acting President of the Russian Yachting Federation (VFPS), Olympic champion in Atlanta and Ekaterina Grishechkina, Director of exhibition Moscow Boat Show also spoke at the ceremony.
The high-ranking guests noted dynamic development of the branch which well reasoned the intensive growth of the exposition and appearance of rather unique “gems”.
A number of business meetings and negotiations were held within the frames of the project: the exhibition was visited by a large delegation of Greek businessmen for the purpose of establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Russian colleagues.
More than 400 yachts on display at the Show
Russian Yachting Federation (VFPS) celebrated its 100 anniversary within the frames of Moscow Boat Show and arranged an exposition of future sailing sport museum (rare awards, gifts, articles from private collections, pictures and etc.) which had been collected since 1912.
Due to carefully chosen running dates the show was visited by more than 26 000 people. The majority of the visitors were of targeted audience – vessel owners and specialists of the branch.
The work at the next edition of the show is under way! The show will be held in March 2013. The overall exhibit space will comprise 40 000 sq m. The exhibition will impress with exclusive exhibits and the latest technological achievements.
Moscow Boat Show was not only an entertaining but at the same time a business promotional event. Participation in the trade fair was a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists. They were well prepared to discuss business in the Russian market and even to close a deal on-site.
The show helped representatives of yachting business to get acquainted with their Russian colleagues and gradually improved national yachting market to a new level. It is obvious that for 5 years of its running the project has turned to a status event of the international exhibitions calendar.

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactor units. In such reactors, nuclear fuel is not replaced in the same way as in standard NPPs – partial replacement of fuel once every 12-18 months. Instead, once every few years the entire reactor core is replaced with and a full load of fresh fuel.
The KLT-40S reactor cores have a number of advantages compared with standard NPPs. For the first time, a cassette core was used, which made it possible to increase the fuel cycle to 3-3.5 years before refuelling, and also reduce by one and a half times the fuel component in the cost of the electricity produced. The operating experience of the FNPP provided the basis for the design of the new series of nuclear icebreaker reactors (series 22220). Currently, three such icebreakers have been launched.
The Akademik Lomonosov was connected to the power grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020.
Electricity generation from the FNPP at the end of 2023 amounted to 194 GWh. The population of Pevek is just over 4,000 people. However, the plant can potentially provide electricity to a city with a population of up to 100,000. The FNPP solved two problems. Firstly, it replaced the retiring capacities of the Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya Thermal Power Plant, which is more than 70 years old. It also supplies power to the main mining enterprises located in western Chukotka. In September, a 490 km 110 kilovolt power transmission line was put into operation connecting Pevek and Bilibino.
