A cruise ship typically isn’t something one covets. Unless, of course, it’s been turned into a glitzy superyacht , as is the case with Dubawi .
The Italian liner, which was first delivered by Cantiere Navale Ferrari in 1989, was treated to a multimillion-dollar refit by Platinum Yachts in 2009. The 297-footer has been kept tightly under wraps throughout ownership—until now, that is. Dubawi has hit the market for the first time with Worth Avenue Yachts , and we’re getting a sneak peek inside the $35 million beauty.

As you might expect from an ex-cruise ship, Dubawi has a bonkers interior volume of 4,184 GT, which gives her as much space as a megayacht of 328 feet or more. She’s not just big, she’s beautiful, too. Her interior takes cues from the Art Deco style of the 1920s with geometric shapes, bold hues and ornate furnishings.

She can sleep up to 44 guests across eight VIP suites, 13 doubles and not one but two owner’s staterooms. The latter enjoy a dedicated deck, of course, with an elevated outdoor Jacuzzi, sweeping views and ensuites bigger than some regular cabins. There’s also accommodation for a whopping 71 crew.
Elsewhere indoors, there’s a giant guest lounge and two saloons that can be used as game rooms or cinemas. There’s also a nightclub on the lower deck with a high-tech sound system, and a hospital because you can never be too safe. Oh, there’s also an elevator connecting all levels.
Outside, meanwhile, you can expect an abundance of deck space, along with a large swim platform with a fountain.
The lower deck comes complete with a nightclub. Worth Avenue Yachts
“She is the perfect royal yacht for someone looking to travel the world with a large group in ultimate privacy,” broker Mathieu Bardon of the Monaco office told Robb Report in an email. “Not many yachts have their own nightclub onboard.”
As for power, Dubawi is fitted with twin MAN engines that allow her to reach 15 knots at full tilt and cruise at 13.5 knots.
Perhaps most importantly, the yacht has had just one owner in its lifetime and has never been chartered. She’s currently docked in Dubai and awaiting her new owner. Get your checkbook ready.

Inside an $35 Million Art Deco Superyacht Reportedly Owned by a Prince
By Katherine McLaughlin
For $35 million, you can own a piece of royal history. This superyacht’s most recent owner, r eportedly the Crown Prince of Dubai , Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, recently listed the floating palace for sale through Worth Avenue Yachts .
The ship has plenty of room for outdoor living.
Named Dubawi the vessel was built in 1989 by Cantiere Navale Ferrari. However, for the first half of its nautical life, it was used as a cruise ship. Once the current owner acquired it in 2009, the ship was renovated by Platinum Yachts into a private superyacht. Since undergoing a two-year, multimillion-dollar refit, the boat has notably only had one owner, a rare feature for a ship of this size and class. Because of this, few people other than those invited on board have been able to see the inside, making the boat one of the most private of its category.
Geometric decor is present throughout the yacht.
Sailing at more than 297 feet long, the massive vessel has 22 staterooms, can sleep 44 people, has a gross tonnage of 4,184, and a volume similar to that of 110-meter yacht. It’s tremendous size leaves plenty of room for luxurious amenities, including a nightclub with a lighted dance floor, a guest lounge, two salons, an elevator, a fountain, a swimming platform, a hospital room, and a private owner’s deck with 180-degree views and a jacuzzi.
The fully equipped nightclub is on the lower deck.
Though the yacht’s features are no doubt impressive, they’re not necessarily unusual for a vessel of this category. However, the Art Deco interior design and decor of the space, full of rich purples, blues, greens, and oranges, is something you don’t see everyday. In addition to the vibrant hues, the ship is also full of geometric patterns and stately furniture.
Purple motifs, often associated with royalty, are common throughout the yacht.
By Dana Thomas
By Michelle Duncan
By María Noval-Quílez
The interiors were designed by Platinum Yacht’s in-house interior design team, who made use of a large selection of materials including marble, rare woods, mosaic tiling, and custom-made carpets.
The boat can sleep 44 people, and this dining area ensures there’s room for all of them to eat.
And if the yacht’s layout isn’t exactly what the new owner desires, there is plenty of square footage in both of the salons to rearrange the space to include new features like a game room or theater. Whether cosmetic upgrades happen or not, the ship underwent various maintenance checks before being put on the market to ensure it’s smooth sailing when handed over to the whoever acquires it next.
The space is truly fit for royalty.
