The 58' Sonship built by West Bay  in British Columbia is their most popular model, it offers a blend of classic styling with a modern pilot house, luxurious accommodations, and world class construction. Built on a modified–V hull for speed, it features Airex coring for strength, prop pockets for a shallow draft, and under water exhaust for quiet and reduced fumes.

Exteriors include a good-sized cockpit with lazarette storage, walk-around side decks, and a spacious flybridge with 2 L-lounges with 2 cocktail tables.

The yacht's exceptionally roomy open-plan interior afforded by its 17' beam offers three staterooms that sleep 6 and two heads. An amidships full-beam master stateroom with walk-around queen berth, a luxurious salon furnished with large U-shaped sofa and hidden entertainment center, an extended pilothouse with full-service galley and dinette, and a standup engine room with cockpit access are its highlights. The 58 West Bay Sonship is a three stateroom, raised pilothouse motor yacht with cockpit, walk-around side decks and flybridge, and offers one of the finest interior arrangements of any similar type yacht. The interior woodwork is crafted in satin varnished American Cherry with high gloss corner posts. Teak & Holly flooring graces the galley/pilothouse area and heads while the remaining floors are covered in carpet with a sound deadening underlayment. All fabrics, wall coverings, carpets, bedspreads, and pillow shams as well as other linens and decor items have been upgraded from standard to superior quality. Closets and hanging lockers are lined with aromatic cedar. Windows on the main deck are of gray tinted, heat-treated laminated glass. All living spaces offer opening ports, overhead hatches, or sliding windows for natural ventilation. Four, zone-direct expansion air conditioning and heating systems provide supreme indoor comfort.

The white hull is vacuum bonded, hand laid up fiberglass Knytex and BTI with a 1" core cell, urethane foam core fiberglass stringers, and ISO Aristech resin osmosis protection below the waterline. The deck is cored, as are all bulkheads. Barium filled foam composite laminate in the engine room bulkheads and overhead provide sound insulation. Bilges and machinery spaces are finished with epoxy paint for ease of maintenance. The boot stripe is 2" black Imron and bottom is finished with Interlux 2000/2001 epoxy barrier and Micron CSC extra anti fouling paint.

The hull is protected with a rub rail capped with a stainless-steel striker. All handrails and rail fittings are 1-1/4'" 316 stainless. There are twelve cleats: 4 bow, 2 stern, 4 springline and 2 flush popups on the swim platform. An anchor platform with bow roller is fitted on the foredeck. Propeller shafts and hydrodynamic rudders are stainless steel.

The 31.39m/103' motor yacht 'Odyssey' (ex. Little Paradise) was built by West Bay SonShip in Canada at their Delta, British Columbia shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Glade Johnson Design and she was completed in 1999. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Jack Sarin and she was last refitted in 2019.

Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V2000) 12-cylinder 1,350hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots with a range of up to 2,100 nautical miles from her 17,033 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. Her low draft of 1.63m/5'4" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. An on board stabilization system ensures comfort when underway. Her water tanks store around 2,839 Litres of fresh water.

Cockpit: The vessel comes with the standard layout with all equipment found in good condition. This layout includes a large cockpit with space for a fighting chair centerline. Fish wells are aft to port and starboard with live wells forward. The ice chipper discharges into the starboard fish well and the port well is refrigerated. Deck lockers line the perimeter with the tackle center aft to starboard. This area has a removable sun shade and the crew area door is centerline forward.

Aft Deck: This is a good size and comes with a large built-in seating aft with a teak dining table and chairs. There is a built-in wet bar forward to port with a sink and fridge. The television is installed above the bar as well. There is a stairway to starboard with access to the flybridge. Salon entry thru double teak varnished doors. Control stations are hatched to port and starboard forward. This area is well protected by the fly bridge overhang.

Fore & Side Decks: The fore deck features windlass installed centerline forward with a deck hatch for access to the chain locker. A large sunpad is also featured. The side decks allow easy access forward and aft with a starboard side entry door into the galley/dining area.

Pilot House & Boat Deck: The helm was found on the centerline with all gauges and controls easy to hand. A single helm chair is just aft with setee and table aft to port. There is a day head opposite to starboard the stairway is forward. The boat deck has ample room for tender and personal watercraft centerline with the davit to port. 

Interior: A good-sized salon with large windows and storage. There is a large sofa aft to port with a coffee table. The TV is installed on a powered lift opposite to starboard with the entertainment equipment stored in cabinetry below. Forward of the salon to port is the formal dining area, with a table and seating for 6. There is excellent storage along both sides of the salon and dining area in way of built in cabinetry. There is a starboard side companionway with fridge drawers, ice maker and wine chiller. The galley is to port with subzero refrigerator/freezer and galley appliances. The galley is open and features large windows and door. Second dining area is forward with barstools and a granite top.

Guest Accommodations: Guest accommodations are accessed via the starboard side stairwell leading down from the galley area. Aft is the full beam master stateroom that comes with a king sized bed installed on the centerline, excellent storage in lockers and drawers with the head and shower accessed forward to starboard. A tub is in the master head. The port stateroom comes with single berths to port and starboard. The head is a shared head accessed from the companionway that can also act as a day head. The vip stateroom has a queen berth forward on the centerline with the head/shower aft to starboard. Good storage in lockers and drawers and the TV is mounted aft.

The washer and dryer are installed in the guest companionway to starboard.

Crews Accommodations: This area is accessed from the cockpit through a watertight door that opens into the centerline aft passageway. The port cabin has a single berth with the head forward while the starboard cabin has upper/lower berths and the head aft. Switch boards are forward as is the engine room watertight door.

Machinery Space: This area is accessed from the crew companionway, head room is ample and there is good access to all of the machinery to carry out service work.

This layout includes a large cockpit with space for a fighting chair centerline. Fish wells are aft to port and starboard with live wells forward. This area has a removable sun shade and the crew area door is centerline forward.</p> <p><strong>Aft Deck: <br /></strong>This is a good size and comes with a large built-in seating aft with a teak dining table and chairs. There is a built-in wet bar forward to port with a sink and fridge. The television is installed above the bar as well. There is a stairway to starboard with access to the flybridge. Salon entry thru double teak varnished doors. Control stations are hatched to port and starboard forward. This area is well protected by the fly bridge overhang.</p> <p><strong>Fore & Side Decks:</strong> <br />The fore deck features windlass installed centerline forward with a deck hatch for access to the chain locker. A large sunpad is also featured. The side decks allow easy access forward and aft with a starboard side entry door into the galley/dining area.</p> <p><strong>Pilot House & Boat Deck:</strong> <br />The helm was found on the centerline with all gauges and controls easy to hand. A single helm chair is just aft with setee and table aft to port. There is a day head opposite to starboard the stairway is forward. The boat deck has ample room for tender and personal watercraft centerline with the davit to port. </p> <p><strong>Interior:</strong> <br />A good-sized salon with large windows and storage. There is a large sofa aft to port with a coffee table. The TV is installed on a powered lift opposite to starboard with the entertainment equipment stored in cabinetry below. Forward of the salon to port is the formal dining area, with a table and seating for 6. There is excellent storage along both sides of the salon and dining area in way of built in cabinetry. There is a starboard side companionway with fridge drawers, ice maker and wine chiller. The galley is to port with subzero refrigerator/freezer and galley appliances. The galley is open and features large windows and door. Second dining area is forward with barstools and a granite top.</p> <p><strong>Guest Accommodations:</strong> <br />Guest accommodations are accessed via the starboard side stairwell leading down from the galley area. Aft is the full beam master stateroom that comes with a king sized bed installed on the centerline, excellent storage in lockers and drawers with the head and shower accessed forward to starboard. A tub is in the master head. The port stateroom comes with single berths to port and starboard. The head is a shared head accessed from the companionway that can also act as a day head. The vip stateroom has a queen berth forward on the centerline with the head/shower aft to starboard. Today, Ben Vermeulen is semi-retired, and the West Bay Shipyard is operated by Wes Vermeulen, President and VP of Marketing; Bas Vermeulen, VP of Production; son-in-law Danny Kilberg, VP of Customer Service. Wes’ wife Lynda Vermeulen heads Interior Design and Decorating. West Bay is a true family-run shipyard, something not often found in today's boating industry.

In addition to producing the luxury SonShip motor yachts West Bay is known for, West Bay Shipyards provides yacht repairs, yacht servicing and refitting, and any services needed to make a vessel ready for ocean passage. Ben Vermeulen initially built hundreds of work boats ranging from rugged, high-speed police patrol boats to commercial fishing boats and rapidly gained a reputation for fine craftsmanship and business ethics of hardwork and honesty. After attaining success with its strong and durable, high-quality commercial vessels, West Bay began expanding into the luxury recreational cruising market, utilizing the latest construction techniques and cutting-edge materials to build the first model, the West Bay 4500 Pilothouse in 1985, followed by 65ft and 72ft motor yachts.

West Bay launched the first West Bay 58 in 1991. Designed by Ben Vermeulen, naval architect Howard Appolonio, and yacht stylist Glade Johnson, the 58 quickly became West Bay’s most popular motor yacht. It featured sleek, attractive exterior lines with the rock-solid build, seaworthiness, and all the features expected of a great Northwest cruising boat—walk-around decks protected by hefty rails, cockpit/aft deck large enough for sportfishing or outdoor dining, spacious flybridge with panoramic 360-degree view, and spacious raised pilothouse with large windows. Constructed with state-of-the-art materials for weight-reduction and hull-strengthening, hull pockets to protect the props, and quiet underwater exhaust. The interior featured expertly crafted joinery of fine hardwoods, spacious saloon, raised galley, two large staterooms, plus a smaller stateroom, and two heads. From 1991 to 2002 timeframe, West Bay produced more than 60 of the 58 model, continually updating them with amenities and more.

As one of Canada’s largest boat builders, West Bay Marine has a 110ft tri-deck SonShip under construction designed by Greg Marshall, the award-winning Canadian naval architect based in British Columbia. The 2020 SonShip 110 features elegant softer lines with graceful curves; window corners are rounded with softer angles, a departure from West Bay’s characteristic straighter lines and angular windows. All West Bay yachts feature a sleek profile; never boxy or ungainly. The main deck of the SonShip 110 extends forward, nearly to the bow to accommodate an on-deck full beam master stateroom. The SonShip 110 features a spacious enclosed Sky Lounge with Sky Lounge deck area and a Sun Bridge with a 6-person hot tub.

Crew accommodations include a large crew galley. Luxury accommodations are for 10 with 4 ensuite guest staterooms. A truly beautiful motor yacht designed by Gregory C. Marshall, Naval Architect, Ltd. recipient of the 2021 Design Award for the Exterior Design of Nobiskrug’s 262ft superyacht, Artefact. West Bay’s core values are quality without compromise, commitment, and service. And these values are evident in each West Bay built, resulting in higher resale prices in the brokerage market. A favorite of the Pacific Northwest and West Coast, the West Bay 58 has already attained iconic status. A selection of West Bay SonShip yachts is currently listed in the vessel brokerage MLS, ranging from about $449,000 for a 1997 West Bay SonShip 58 to about $2,995,000 for a 2002 West Bay SonShip 88, with a median price of about $1,722,000.
