Welcome to Cottage Point Kiosk & Boat Hire

Built around 1918, the Kiosk is one of the oldest riverside cottages in Cottage Point. Over the years it has been home to many different families, services, business owners and menus, however one thing has always stayed true – it’s an iconic, nostalgic place for locals and visitors to meet, eat, drink and relax.

Overlooking beautiful Cowan River and the untouched Kuring-gai Chase National Park, the Kiosk is the perfect place to sit and enjoy breakfast or lunch, or to launch your day of adventure and exploration on one of our hire boats or kayaks.

Our café is nestled between nature’s bush setting and the beautiful, breezy waterfront with outdoor seating.  We are open for breakfast and lunch, coffee and cake and offer both dine in and take away.  Reservations are highly encouraged, especially on weekends and during holiday periods.

BOAT & KAYAK HIRE

Heading out for a day on the water is one of the most relaxing, simple pleasures in life.  Whether you’re into fishing, cruising, swimming or enjoying a picnic on the beach with family or friends, we’ve got something for everyone.  No licence is required.  Bookings are essential.

GETTING HERE

We are located on the waterfront in Cottage Point, nestled in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, only 40mins north of the Sydney CBD.  We’re accessible by road via Terrey Hills.  Turn off Mona Vale onto McCarrs Creek Road then follow the signs to Cottage Point.  We’re located at the end of the Cottage Point Road.  Parking is free, on-street parking only.   There is no allocated parking for our guests.   It can get busy during weekends and holidays so please allow plenty of time for parking if you have a booking with us. 

If visiting by boat, we’re on Cowan River, located next to Ku-ring-gai Motor Yacht Club.  We have space on our dock for small visitor boats.  Please call in advance to see if we have space available.

Kuring-gai Motor Yacht Club

The club manages 84 moorings at cottage point for the use of members vessels..

KMYC members are also entitled to the exclusive use of 14 club moorings in Refuge and America Bays, 2 at Coasters Retreat (The Basin) in Pittwater and 1 in Mullet Creek Wondabyne. The moorings are typically a standard red mooring with KMYC or the Club burgee marked on the mooring.

All members must comply with the following RMS conditions;

i) Members must carry proof of Club membership whilst secured to a Club Mooring.  The KMYC Yearbook is the simplest way to do this but you should always display your Club Burgee which will also assist RMS in identifying you as a member.

ii) Mooring occupation is now limited to 72 hours, after which the mooring must be vacated.

iii) Any raft-ups must not interfere with the freedom to navigate within the mooring areas.  This is particularly applicable in Refuge and America Bays.  Please also be careful not to drag moorings by rafting multiple vessels in windy conditions.

While a member can request any non-member to vacate any of these moorings, good manners and common sense should always prevail and such a request only made when the area is crowded or if you intend to raft several boats. The KMYC burgee should always be flown.

Should you have any questions, they should be directed to the Vice Commodore.

Visitors to KMYC requiring a mooring should contact the Waterfront for availability.
