Three superyacht brokers join Fraser Yachts San Diego

Wen-Dee Cote at Fraser Yachts  is keen that I broadcast the news of three brokers joining the team in the San Diego office and sends potted biographies and pictures.

First off, there's Michael Gardella, a native of San Diego who started his career in the commercial tuna industry. After leaving the industry in 1977, he opened a branch offfice on Shelter Island for another brokerage house and became the company's top salesman for many years running. After 32 years there Michael made the decision to join Fraser Yachts.

Eric Pearson, another San Diego native, has spent his life in yachting, helping his family run their high profile Shelter Island fuelling facility before embarking on a career as crew on a number of vessels from  commercial tugs to superyachts. It was his experience in the yachting industry and technical expertise that led to an offer to join Fraser Yachts.

Finally, the third broker is Dave Stauffer with an interesting history. After graduating from college with a degree in aerospace science he was an engineering team leader on the development of the B-2 Stealth bomber. Leaving the industry, he formed a franchised real estate company and his team became one of the top producing units in the USA. Joining Fraser Yachts gives Dave the opportunity to combine his passion for yachting with his sales experience.

• New (2017)   Shaffer 3000 genoa furling system on the headstay.

• Mystic Stainless side boarding ladder can be moved to either side  2017.

• Dinghy davits at the stern w/ winches to facilitate retrieval.
• Stainless steel mast at the stern for the wind generator (no wind generator) also incorporates a lifting davit for the outboard motor.

• Maxwell VWC 2200 vertical anchor windlass w/  recently  rebuilt motor & foot-operated UP switch.
• New (5/2017)  73# Rocna primary anchor w/ 300' 3/8" HT chain, plus 90# Danforth storm anchor & 45# Danforth stern anchor (additional chain & rode available for secondary anchors).
• Heavy-duty, pivoting anchor davit & forestay chainplate assembly has been  upgraded,  and allows for deployment & retrieval of the anchor without any heavy lifting.
• Nylon webbing on reel for stern tie to shore.
• Sunbrella canvas:  UV covers for genoa & mainsail; cover for staysail & boom; covers for dodger windows; covers for O/B motor, B-B-Q, hatches, winches, windlass & ventilators.
• Dorade ventilator cowls; Marine Board folding cockpit table & drink holder; hi-density foam cockpit cushions & back rests.
• External fresh-water spigot near the cockpit; Dickinson stainless steel LPG B-B-Q mounted on the stern pulpit; Edson portable step for use at lifeline gates.

• Foam-insulated hull above the waterline - hull ceilings are of red & yellow cedar.
• The cabin overhead is finished w/ white panels & teak cross beams.
• Main salon cabin sole  recently  refinished w/ four coats of polyurethane.
• Cabin sole in the galley & both bathrooms are of a seamless synthetic material for ease of cleaning & maintenance.  Master stateroom is fully carpeted w/  new carpet 6/13 .
• Interior woodworking  recently  refinished w/ three coats of rubbed teak oil.
• (8)  fixed portlights w/ laminated safety glass in the hull topsides.

• Large combined chain locker & sail bin forwardmost. Chain pipe directs chain down low; spare anchor storage; mounted vice; room for sail bags, spare line storage, etc. 
• En suite head forward w/ vanity sink, tub/shower & Vacu-Flush marine toilet.
• Guest stateroom next aft w/ settee/berth (has lee cloth) to port & large pullman berth to starboard.  Massive storage compartment under.   Headroom is 6'6" on centerline, w/ berth 6'6" in length.   Note:  This "guest" stateroom is nicer than the "master" stateroom in many boats.
• Large salon area amidships w/ straight settee/berth to port & large L-shape settee to starboard.  Lee cloths for both settees w/ generous storage under.
• Beautiful inlaid-teak, adjustable height salon table w/ sliding mechanism for easy access & providing options for dining (table up & close to the settee) or coffee-table socializing (table lowered & further from the settee).
• Headroom in the salon area is 6'7" or more on centerline, tapering slightly to outboard.
• Nav area to port next to the companionway w/ comfortable swivel seat, inclined nav desk (storage over & under) and flush-mounted instrumentation.
• Opposite to starboard is the spacious galley w/ double-deep, stainless steel sinks near centerline, gimballed 4-burner stove/oven outboard, top-loading refrigerator  inboard, plenty of counter space, microwave oven & storage lockers over & under.
• Headroom in the galley at the stove & sink is 6'10".
• Companionway is on centerline w/ a passage to aft stateroom on port.  The passage houses the main electric distribution panel (w/ wiring in an FRP-lined compartment), generous storage lockers (including an FRP-lined wet hanging locker) & drawers, and top-loading freezer.   Headroom in the passageway is 6'4".
• The master stateroom has a lovely island-queen berth on centerline, large storage lockers port & starboard and a drop-down "secretary" desk cabinet on the forward bulkhead.
• Headroom in the master stateroom is 6'4" (but more under the large overhead hatch), w/ island queen berth 6'8" in length.
• The en suite head has a vanity sink, tub/shower & Vacu-Flush marine toilet.   Headroom in the head/tub/shower is 6'4 ".
