Borrow A Boat is the best place to find and rent boats of all sorts, from a canal and riverboat across Europe to a sailing boat, motorboat, catamaran across North America, the Mediterranean, Caribbean and further afield, along with some of the world's most impressive superyachts and luxury yacht charters.

Boats or Yachts Available For Rent Or Charter In Florida

Where it comes to chartering or renting boats in Florida below is a list of the typical types of boats that you can hire on Borrow A Boat with a description of the boat type. If you can't find the individual boat charter you are looking for when you do a search in [location name] it's worthwhile searching nearby locations as your chosen boat type might be available nearby.

When searching a geographical area on Borrow A Boat you can filter by the below boat types. There is also the option to further filter your searches by price, the number of guests, cabins or bathrooms, what year the boat or sailing yacht was launched, the boat length and the boat manufacturer.

Sailboat: From €120/£100/$135 a day up to whatever you can afford, monohull sailing yachts are fun to sail at all points of the wind and an affordable way to get around if your island hopping or finding your own secluded coves or sandy beaches along with longer cruises. Sizes range from those for a couple or small family to a full sized luxury charter yacht.

Catamaran: Luxury catamarans are stable and spacious, with quick sailing performance, and have been gaining in popularity in recent years. Better for larger groups, they have lots of room for water toys, and are big enough for a little privacy. A catamaran charter is easy and comfortable for novices not used to heeling and are loved by families due to their extra space when compared to a monohull. Typically far more luxurious than a sailboat the larger catamarans have en suite toilets and showers in the staterooms as well as ample entertaining space in the saloon and on deck.

Power Catamaran: These types of boats are relatively new but have also been gaining in popularity as the two hulls keep the boat more stable when compared to a monohull. The wider beam also means more deck space and as they don't have sails or a mast, they have a lot more space on deck than a sailing catamaran rental or monohull. For a luxury catamaran charter, consider taking a crewed catamaran charter sailing vacation with an experienced captain.

Luxury Yacht: Luxury yacht charters are available for either a sailing yacht (sailboat), catamaran or motorboat and will have a crew and host/hostess on hand to cater for whatever your needs are along with a captain who will have a detailed knowledge of your cruising area. On a crewed yacht charter of this kind you get to create your own personal itinerary and will have far greater range than on other boats which allows for lots of variety in how you travel and what you do.

Superyacht: A superyacht or sometimes called mega yacht are boats which are least 24 metres (79 feet) in length up to 180 metres (590 feet) and can either be sailing yachts (sailboats) or motorboats. These types of boats are most frequently found in the Med of Caribbean and due to their size they will have a large chartering area and can typically pick you up from whatever location you require rather than you being required to get to a set marina to start your charter. They are fully crewed with professional staff who will cater for your every need along with a captain who will have extensive knowledge of your chosen cruising areas.

Motorboat: This covers a wide variety of boats from a motor yacht with cabins to a private boat trip for a fishing trip but all of the these are comfortable seagoing boats with a kick of speed should you want to cover a bigger distance on the day.

RIB: Very much day boats for fishing and day cruising, RIBs are a lot of fun for a day afloat. They can be very quick and are great should you be in a town on holiday and fancy seeing the coast or finding secluded sandy beaches to get away from it all.

Captained Yacht Charter or Bareboat

When it comes to boat rental or yacht charter in Florida you typically have two choices - bareboat yacht rental or captained yacht charter.

When using Borrow A Boat you can filter all boat searches to be with or without a captain depending on what you are looking for and below we cover some of the main points to consider for your boat rental.

Captained Charter: A captained yacht charter gives you the advantage of being able to get afloat without having to invest in getting sailing qualifications before hand. For a monohull sailing yacht you will pay €120/£100/$135 plus a day extra for the captain, as well as their food and a tip at the end.

When you get to a luxury yacht or superyacht charter with crew these prices will increase and costs also depend on where you plan to sail to along with the size and type of boat rental on your sailing holiday.

In some cases captains will also be the yacht or boat owners (typically day trips) which means they will know all the best secluded beaches to show you the best that the area has to offer with their local knowledge.

For day trips you will often be able to use a captain as well and prices will vary depending on the type of boat.

Bareboat Yacht Charter: For skilled sailors, a bareboat charter is cheaper and gives more privacy for you and your charter guests. Many sailors prefer to be helming the boat while choosing their own course, and provided you have the knowledge and relevant qualifications you can captain these boats (typically up to 54 feet/16.5 metres in length) yourself.

Do You Need A Licence To Charter A Yacht In Florida

If you are on a gulet or captained yacht charter you do not need a license to sail a yacht out of Florida. This is also the case where you are renting a small motorboat without a cabin for a day trip around the local islands or beaches.

You do need a license if you are on a bareboat yacht charter, here are some examples of sailing qualifications:

International Certificate of Competence: This is issued on request by your European sailing authority and you should automatically qualify with certain national sailing qualifications.

RYA Qualifications: If you have the following qualifications you will be able to take a bareboat charter out of Florida, these include Day Skipper (sail or motor endorsement), Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster.

American Sailing Association (ASA): The ASA 104 Bareboat certificate is commonly accepted.

US Sailing: The International Proficiency Certificate is widely accepted and The Bareboat Cruising Certificate is also accepted in many cases.

The main points to consider are what is your budget, have you got the necessary sailing experience and qualifications to manage the boat if it's not going to have a skipper, whom you are taking sailing, where exactly you wish to go and what will the weather be like on the proposed dates of your trip.

You will typically pay 50% up front on booking the yacht hire and the balance on arrival. You will either pay a security deposit with your credit card on departure or can get insurance covering damage in advance. In some cases (such as the recent Covid situation) charter companies may be more flexible but this depends on the individual charter companies themselves.

If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16 or ring the coast guard on your phone if you have reception. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to or are on a mooring you will be able to phone a help line number given by the boat charter company.

You should consider do you have the experience to handle the yacht charter or boat rental before you book and where do you want to go along with what the weather will be like. Bring warm weather and cool weather clothing if it looks like the weather can be cool as well as warm and remember at sea it can be cool on most evenings.

If you want to sail without a captain then you will need relevant qualifications like RYA Day Skipper/International Certificate of Competence (ICC)/ASA 104 Bareboat certificate or the US Sailing Certificate. For small 'day boats' or if you choose to have a skippered on board your yacht charter you typically don't require licences.

We are confident that our prices are the most competitive and transparent in the market.

We won't charge any booking fees when you make a booking with us.

We have the highest number of verified and vetted boats available on the market.

Miami Beach marina includes up to 400 berths and state-of-the-art amenities, from a heated swimming pool and laundry facilities to both casual and fine dining locations. Downtown Miami

The Downtown Miami Marina is much smaller with only 130 slips, but don't let that stop you from checking out this location. If you have time, sail south to the Florida Keys and snorkel at the nearby coral reefs for a taste of paradise.

Weather in South Florida

Of course, you should keep in mind the weather when planning your experience on the water. Miami is the ideal location for a yacht charter while on vacation because of the incomparable weather. With winters ranging in the 70°s and summers in the 90°s, there's no wrong time to visit. But while the climate is typically mild and blissful, pay attention to the weather forecast leading up to your trip. If you're traveling to South Florida in the cooler months of the year, be sure to pack some layers to wear while on your sailing trip, especially if you plan to go sailing in the evening. If you're traveling during the summer months, remember to take extra precautions when it comes to sun care, and keep in mind the high chance of showers.

When planning to rent a boat in Miami, you should also pay attention to the wind patterns, which can vary from light and breezy in the summer to slightly stronger throughout the rest of the year. Dress accordingly if you plan to travel during those months. The wind shouldn't have much of an affect on your time on the water as long as you prepare yourself for what to expect while out on your charter.

About Florida

Why is Florida a good sailing destination?

At the crossroads of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, Florida stands as a beacon for maritime enthusiasts. Its allure isn’t just rooted in its sun-kissed beaches or azure waters, but in the myriad of experiences it offers to sailors, both novice and seasoned. Yachting.Rent, with its profound knowledge of the Sunshine State’s waters, sheds light on why Florida is more than just a sailing destination, but a maritime dream brought to life.

Florida’s geographical diversity is its first calling card. With over 1,300 miles of coastline, the state presents a patchwork of sailing experiences. The Atlantic side tempts with its powerful waves and vibrant ports like Miami and Fort Lauderdale, famous for their cosmopolitan flair. The Gulf side, in contrast, is a serene ballet of gentle waves, clear waters, and pristine beaches, with locations like Naples and Clearwater beckoning sailors to anchor and indulge in tranquillity. The Florida Keys, a chain of coral reef islands, offer a unique sailing journey, where one navigates from one tropical paradise to another, each with its distinct charm. This geographical tapestry means that every sailing trip in Florida can be uniquely tailored, catering to both adrenaline junkies and serenity seekers.

Beyond its natural beauty, Florida’s rich maritime heritage elevates its standing as a prime sailing destination. Towns like St. Augustine, the oldest in the U.S., tell tales of ancient mariners and pirates, adding a historical depth to the journey. Festivals like the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show showcase the state’s deep-rooted maritime culture. But what truly stands out is Florida’s sailing community. Marinas are not just docking points but hubs of camaraderie, where tales of the sea are exchanged, and the spirit of sailing is celebrated. Yachting.Rent has often found that for many sailors, it’s this sense of belonging, of being part of Florida’s vibrant maritime tapestry, that turns a sailing trip into a cherished memory.

Yet, the heart of Florida’s allure as a sailing destination lies in its promise of freedom and discovery. The state’s waters invite sailors to not just navigate their breadth, but to dive deep into their essence. From discovering hidden coves, snorkeling in vibrant coral reefs, to watching a pod of dolphins dance alongside your vessel, Florida’s waters are a treasure trove of experiences. With Yachting.Rent, these experiences are further enriched, as we not only provide vessels for exploration but also insights into Florida’s maritime soul.

In summation, Florida isn’t just a destination; it’s a nautical journey where every wave tells a story, every port is an invitation to adventure, and every sunset is a testament to the day’s discoveries. It’s a realm where the sea beckons and memories are crafted. And in this grand maritime tapestry, Yachting.Rent stands as your trusted guide, turning every sail into a symphony of experiences, making Florida not just a good, but an exceptional sailing destination.

What Choose

Sailing boat or Catamaran, what to sail in Florida

The myriad waterways of Florida offer diverse sailing experiences, and choosing the right vessel is paramount to curating the perfect maritime adventure. At Yachting.Rent, we pride ourselves on understanding these nuances and offering insights to ensure your journey is tailored to your desires. As the debate between sailing boats and catamarans gains momentum among enthusiasts, we delve into the heart of the matter, helping you make an informed choice for your Florida escapade.

Sailing boats, often referred to as monohulls, are the quintessential choice for those who yearn for a traditional sailing experience. Florida’s coastal regions, with their varying wind patterns and tidal rhythms, present the ideal playground for these vessels. They heel under the force of the wind, offering sailors the thrill of cutting through waves and feeling the sea’s unfiltered energy. Their sleek designs and deep keels make them especially adept at navigating Florida’s open waters, where the Atlantic’s majesty or the Gulf’s tranquility can be felt in all its glory. Moreover, monohulls provide a sense of intimacy, where the connection between the sailor, the vessel, and the sea is profound and unobstructed. For those looking to hone their sailing skills or immerse themselves in the raw beauty of Florida’s waters, sailing boats offer an experience that’s both challenging and rewarding.

On the other hand, catamarans, with their dual hulls and expansive deck spaces, are the epitome of stability and comfort. Their design ensures a smooth sailing experience, making them ideal for family trips or group charters. The shallow draft of catamarans allows them to explore areas often untouched by monohulls, including Florida’s intricate network of mangroves, secluded bays, and the shallow waters of the Keys. Their spacious interiors, often equipped with modern amenities, offer a luxurious ambiance that turns a sailing trip into a floating retreat. For those who prioritize comfort, panoramic views, and the ability to anchor closer to shore, catamarans present an unparalleled experience.

However, the ultimate decision between a sailing boat and a catamaran boils down to individual preferences and the nature of the voyage envisaged. At Yachting.Rent, we cater to both visions. Our extensive fleet, ranging from agile monohulls to luxurious catamarans, ensures that every sailor finds their perfect match. Our team further assists in tailoring itineraries, ensuring that the chosen vessel aligns with the destinations and experiences desired. Whether it’s the thrill of harnessing the wind on a monohull or the leisurely pace of a catamaran cruise, we’re committed to turning your Florida sailing dream into a tangible reality.

In conclusion, Florida’s waters beckon with promises of adventures both serene and thrilling. The choice between a sailing boat and a catamaran isn’t just about the vessel but the stories you wish to craft amidst the waves. With Yachting.Rent by your side, every choice becomes a gateway to experiences that resonate, linger, and call you back to Florida’s enchanting shores.

Or consider island hopping in Spain’s Balearic islands, and stop by destinations like Mallorca or Menorca .

In the Americas, we also offer a large selection of yacht charters in destinations such as Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean, Cancun in Mexico, and the Bahamas . There are endless possibilities if you choose to charter a yacht for a week or longer to explore different islands or even different areas within the same one!

Instead, if you are in the Bahamas it is worth noting that there are around 365 cays as well as breathtaking views such as the Tropic of Cancer Beach! If you are going to the Bahamas you may want to stop at Freeport in Grand Bahama and Shop at Port Lucaya Marketplace! This is a shopper's paradise with an open-air facility and white sandy beaches within walking distance for everyone to enjoy.

What are the most popular brands for a yacht charter?

Nautal´s boat owners offer a range of different yacht brands and models to rent. The three well-known yacht brands Nautal offers are Jeanneau, Beneteau, and Bavaria. Moreover, other brands include Silverton, Mangusta, Pershing, Baglietto, and more!

It is important to note however that most yachts are chosen for their quality and high spec conditions which make them so unique.

What should I consider when chartering a yacht?

You should first consider how long you want to charter a yacht for, the size, and what activities you and your group may enjoy doing. When renting a boat of this type, the size of the yacht is very important since this will determine how long the yacht charter can be. Most 25-meter (82 ft) yachts are chartered on a weekly basis. Shorter private charters are only available in last-minute bookings, or for smaller yachts that do offer daily charter rates. You can also charter yachts with a captain and crew, who take care of every detail to make your holiday an unforgettable experience. Crewed charter yachts allow you and your family or friends to fully enjoy and relax with your dream boat vacation. Check with the owner if the captain and crew are included in the yacht charter prices!

How much does a yacht rental cost?

Yacht rental prices vary depending on your luxury yacht charter choice. Features that make the price vary are the season, size of the yacht, manufacturer, and more! A yacht charter in the low season can cost anywhere from $1,500 a day and $10,000 per week. In high season yacht rental costs from $1,800 per day and $12,487 per week. The price will increase the more luxurious and extravagant you choose your yacht rental to be. For example, megayachts over 165 ft can cost $500,000 or more per week. A yacht charter cost can also have additional and inclusive rates. Depending on the owner´s boat rental offer, the skipper and crew can be included or be an additional cost. Just imagine your luxury yacht charter with delicious food and drinks for your whole family to enjoy. Each charter experience is different so speak to the owner of the boat for more information on what is included in the price and what type of yacht you are looking for.

Where to rent a yacht?

Nautal charters yachts all around the world with many options available on the Amalfi Coast, Mykonos , Costa Azul, Porto Cervo, and beautiful Ibiza . You can also charter a yacht in the Caribbean, Croatia , or Greece . You can spend your vacation on a yacht, celebrate your birthday, organize a party, and more! Check out our different yacht charter destinations!

What does a yacht charter rate include and what additional fees can I expect to pay?

For one-week megayacht charters, the price is usually given without Taxes. Taxes range significantly by destination and will vary if more than one country is visited. You will also need to pay for an estimated running of expenses paid by an Advance Provisioning Allowance, or APA. Expenses include fuel (the largest cost in yacht rentals), food and beverages, port fees, etc. APA typically accounts for between 25% and 35% of the charter price, and with it, the captain will pay all holiday expenses. Whatever is not used will be returned to the customer after the charter. Finally, you will need to consider the tip for the crew, which is a percentage of the rental price, approximately 10% in Europe and 15% in the US. This is highly recommended since a professional and trained crew has a direct impact on the success of the holidays.

Do I need a license to charter a yacht?

If you want to be the one who sails the yacht, you will need the Yachtmaster Ocean license or the equivalent, depending on the country. However, if you want to sail in luxury and comfort you can charter the yacht with a captain and crew. On the Nautal platform, yachts over 50 ft are chartered with a captain, except for some yacht charters located in Croatia. This is because the yachts are very expensive and the risk of damage for the owner is very high. Also during the high season, the yacht owners often cannot get them repaired easily without an advanced booking.

Select Your Departure Date

You’ll also have to select a departure date. This is the day you will actually rent your yacht and head out onto the water.

Choose Your Ideal Yacht

With these two selections made, you will now see a list of yachts available. These yachts will often be different sizes, have different amenities, will be able to accommodate different numbers of people, and overall provide an experience unique to that yacht. Make sure you look through the options to find the choice you believe to be best.

When you have the yacht you want selected, you can simply request it via our website. When you do this, we will check to make sure it is available and that everything is alright with the options you’ve selected.

Reserve Your Yacht Rental

If this works out, you can make the actual reservation. To do so, you will have to put down a small deposit. This will be returned to you after your rental.

Select Your Crew and Captain

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to rent a yacht in fort lauderdale.

Because of the vast range of yacht options in Fort Lauderdale, there is no straightforward cost for a yacht rental. However, they tend to fall into a few different ranges.

  • You can find a large number of incredible and affordable boat options in the range of $500 to $1,000.
  • From $1,000 to $2,000, you can find similar options that are either larger, more luxurious, offer more amenities or some combination of these factors.
  • Finally, you can find deluxe yacht rental options past $2,000 that offer some seriously insane features.

How Many Passengers Are Allowed?

Each boat can take on a different number of passengers based on its size. However, the vast majority of the options allow you to take 6 to 13 guests onboard.

Can We Bring More People Than We Planned?

If you suddenly discover that you need to take more people than you initially planned, we can usually accommodate this. After all, our communication system is designed to help  respond to your wants and needs .

The only exception is if you want to bring on more people than the ship lists as the maximum. This is a hard limit and cannot be exceeded. So, if your limit is 13 people and you initially plan for 10, you can potentially take as many as three more people with you. We cover all these details in  our FAQ .

What Safety Practices Are In Place?

The team at Anchor places  safety as one of our highest priorities . In fact, we instruct our captains to keep safety at the top of their concerns while out on the water. This means they may be limited in what they can do for you based on the safety of the situation. Essentially, they will do what they can to keep you safe.

Besides this, we ensure each ride is safe. This includes watching out for things like occupancy limits and the weather. We also follow all relevant boating laws.

What If the Weather Is Bad?

In many cases, bad weather in Fort Lauderdale blows over pretty quickly. You can simply wait for the weather to pass and still get the most out of your boat rental.

If the weather doesn’t pass and we determine that you cannot take out the yacht for the day, your rental will be canceled. If this happens, we’ll issue you a voucher for the value of the experience you booked. You can use this voucher to book a similar experience within 365 days of the experience you initially planned.

It’s all well and good to say you SHOULD charter a yacht in Florida, but HOW does one do that?

That’s where Sailo comes in.

Sailo is a platform where verified boat owners and representatives can list their boats for rent and charter. So basically, it’s like Airbnb for boats, but with the option to rent a captain too, which is ideal for those who can’t drive a boat. And the good news is, there are a tonne of rentals in the waters of Florida. Click on the website, select your date, browse the available boats and book.

You can also hire a chartered boat from one of the many yacht rental companies that line the coastal towns of Miami, but this will require some searching around to find a reputable company. Sailo has user reviews, so it makes finding a decent boat much easier.

Something to consider – if you rent a boat in Florida and intend on driving the boat yourself, you don’t need a boat license, but if you are born after Jan 1st, 1988 (very specific) you do need a Boating Safety Education Identification Card .

Key Largo, Florida Keys 1

  • Watch the sunset. No matter where you are in Florida, there’s something extra special about watching the sunset from your own private yacht. Whether you enjoy it from Biscayne Bay with a view over the Miami city skyline or from the water by a secluded island, catching a sunset is one of the best things to do in Florida , so don’t miss out on a sunset.
  • Celebrity Sightseeing along Millionaires Row . Cruise along the waters of Biscayne Bay with a cocktail in one hand and a pair of binoculars in the other as you sail past the equisite mansions of Millionaire’s Row, where you may just spot a celebrity outside on their lawns. Whether you see a celeb or not, you can still marvel at the stunning architecture of those richest Floridian residents. Good times guarenteed, celebrities not guaranteed.
  • Go snorkelling. The tropical waters of Florida are known for an abundance of tropical fish, interesting sea life and colourful coral. Make the most of the biodiversity and explore below the surface with a snorkel.
  • Drinks on deck. We are in Florida, it’s not the time to skip the party. The drinks are cold and the weather is hot. Pour yourself a drink and sit back and relax on the deck of your yacht charter. I can almost guarantee you’ve never looked this good before. If you feel like getting a little more rowdy, a booze cruise is certainly not out of the question in Florida. Enjoy yourself, responsibly of course.
  • Jetski. Imagine zooming around the bay on a jetski with a tropical breeze on your face. Jetskis are damn fun, and Florida is an awesome place to try them out. Many of the more luxurious yacht charters in Florida include a jetski as a part of the package to sweeten the deal that little bit more. If not, chat with your captain, they might be able to arrange one for you!
  • Dolphin watching. Atlantic bottlenose dolphins can be found frolicking about in the waters of Florida. Be sure to watch out for them while you cruise around the water!
  • Get some sun. What better place to catch some rays than under the hot Floridian sun? Make sure you remember your hat and reef-safe sunscreen. You can protect your skin and get some vitamin D at the same time.
  • Watersports. One of the best ways to enjoy a day on the water is to get into some watersports. Florida is a great spot to try out water skiing, wakeboarding and a wet ‘n’ wild tube ride.
  • Floating mat and water inflatables. Drifting on the water under the sun or splashing and playing around with your mates on water inflatables is bound to be an epic time. Many yacht charters in Florida include water equipment like floating mats and water inflatables.
  • Enjoy a secluded beach. Maybe you want to enjoy a naturist spot and get your gear off or escape the hustle and bustle of busy places. There are plenty of stunning and secluded beaches and islands around Florida just waiting to be explored.

If we haven’t convinced you to charter a yacht in Florida by now, I don’t know what will.

Whether you’re planning a day on the water to celebrate something special, spend quality time with family or friends, or just keen for a unique day on your travels, chartering a yacht is an easy way to have some fun.

We do think the best way to experience the best of Florida’s tropical waters is by yacht charter. Those bottlenose dolphins won’t admire themselves!

Things to Do in Fort Lauderdale by Boat

Explore the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW)

Explore the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW)

South Florida’s vast Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) touches many of the East Coast’s most popular water destinations— including—you guessed it—Fort Lauderdale! If you’re unfamiliar with navigating the ICW, consider booking your rental with a professional captain. Whether you are at the helm yourself or you opt for a captain, the ICW is a gateway to discover Fort Lauderdale's inland bays, party coves, and popular sandbars; not to mention the numerous great waterfront restaurants. Whether your crew is young and ready to party, or you’re a family looking for relaxation and leisure, the ICW offers something for everyone.

Wake Zone : Navigating the Intracoastal Waterway for the first time can be intimidating for some. You’ll want to be aware of channel markers, wake zones, and other aids to navigation that can help you along the way. Also be sure to read our helpful  Guide to Navigating Florida’s ICW .

Pro Tip : The ICW is thousands of miles long, needless to say, there’s much to do and see here. Make the best out of your day on the water in Fort Lauderdale and book a full-day boat rental.

Marinas : Las Olas Marina, Hall of Fame Marina, Pier Sixty-Six Marina

Top Add-ons (varies by boat) : Lily pads and floats, snorkeling gear, fishing equipment, and more!

Fort Lauderdale Sandbars

Anchor at the Famous Fort Lauderdale Sandbar

If this is your first time boating in Fort Lauderdale, you won’t want to miss visiting one of three popular local sandbars: the Fort Lauderdale Sandbar (also known as the ‘Triangle;’ within the New River), Lake Sylvia (south of Bahia Mar), and the sandbar on Whiskey Creek (near John Lloyd State Park). Make sure to stock up your cooler with your favorite drinks, adult beverages, and plenty of water. You could also bring aboard a couple of subs from your favorite deli, or order directly from Jay’s Sandbar Foodboat, which is anchored and open for business every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 8pm.

Location :  Google Maps Link

Pro Tip : The first sandbar is located at the intersection of New River. Our team recommends arriving at the sandbar before noon to secure a primate location. Be sure you anchor your boat outside of the nearby channel.

Where to go Boating in Fort Lauderdale

Lake Sylvia

Lake Sylvia

Lake Sylvia is a hidden gem located just off the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW),  north of Fort Lauderdale. Hop on a pontoon with the family and enjoy the small crowd of sunkissed Floridians that hang out here (don’t worry parents—this is a very family-friendly environment, you won’t find much of a party crowd here). If you have small children pack their floaties, the waters of Lake Sylvia are protected, warm and gentle. You and your crew will most likely be hungry after all the fun, nearby Lake Slyvia is Boatyard, a waterfront steakhouse with specialty beverages, and dishes even the kids will enjoy.

Dockage : Leaving from the southwest corner, boaters can head west on the canal under the 7' bridge. Once you continue up the ICW, you can enter the canal just south of SE 15th Street where you’ll find a public boat ramp at Cox’s Landing.

Pro Tips : The water depth in Lake Sylvia can vary greatly depending on your location. Be sure to keep an eye on your depth finder and look for shallow areas.

Target fish species : Bass, catfish, crappie, perch, and sunfish.

In this section, we’ll briefly introduce the sub-sections and their solution to help you pick the perfect yacht for a memorable experience.

Group Size and Amenities

When selecting a yacht, it is important to consider the size of your group and the amenities you require. Different yachts offer varying degrees of comfort and facilities that can cater to your needs.

To make an informed decision based on group size and amenities, refer to the table below:

If you have a smaller group size, consider a smaller yacht with fewer cabins and limited amenities. Medium-sized yachts provide more space and additional amenities such as air conditioning, a full galley kitchen and private bathrooms.

It’s important to keep in mind that not all yachts are created equal in terms of facilities or equipment. Some come with power boats or jet skis for water sports enthusiasts while others may have facilities like hot tubs or onboard spas. Consider your group’s interests when making a selection.

According to Boat International Magazine , some of the best yachts available for hire include Lürssen’s Topaz which has two helipads and six levels of living space.

Sailing with an experienced crew is like having a designated driver, but for the water.

Experienced Crew or Bareboat Rental

When deciding on yacht rental, you must choose between an Experienced Crew or Bareboat Rental. Here are some points to consider:

  • Experienced Crew: This option provides you with trained professionals who will navigate and handle all aspects of the yacht for you, including cooking, cleaning and maintenance.
  • Bareboat Rental: If you have experience sailing and are comfortable managing a vessel, this may be the right choice for you. You’ll be in complete control of operating and navigating the yacht.
  • Cost: Experiencing crew will increase costs but bring peace of mind while bareboat rentals will be less expensive but require more experience
  • Flexibility: Experienced crews may offer planned routes or routes of their own which may not align with what travelers want to do while Bareboat rentals provide more independence

It’s important to note that opting for an experienced crew versus a bareboat rental can make a huge difference when considering changing weather conditions, rough waters and other unforeseen events.

Pro Tip – Always know your skill level before choosing self-navigation over hiring an experienced crew. Plan your route carefully, or you might end up stranded on a yacht in rival gang territory.

Itinerary and Route Planning

When considering your yacht needs, planning a customized and effective itinerary and route is crucial. Here’s a guide to optimizing your journey:

  • Research destination: Look up weather, travel restrictions, local customs and attractions .
  • Prioritize stops: Decide on must-see locations and consider time constraints.
  • Determine timing: Time visits for optimal weather conditions or events.
  • Consider yacht capabilities: Ensure the vessel can handle the required distance and dock at intended ports.
  • Consult professionals: Seek recommendations from experienced captains or yachting companies.

Additionally, it’s essential to factor in unexpected circumstances such as maintenance issues or alterations to schedules due to unforeseen events.

As any seasoned yachtsman knows, “ A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt

Remember, it’s not just the yacht you need to be careful with – even the sea creatures have safety regulations to abide by.

Yacht Rental Safety and Regulations

To ensure your safety while renting a yacht in Florida, it’s important to be aware of the regulations and safety measures in place. With licensing and certifications, safety equipment and procedures, and weather and navigation alerts, you can enjoy a worry-free experience on the water. Let’s dive into each of these sub-sections to understand how they ensure a safe and enjoyable yacht rental experience.

Licensing and Certifications

Yacht Operators Requirements

Yacht operators must possess necessary qualifications to operate a yacht. These qualifications depend on the type of yacht being operated, its size and location. The operator must have a captain’s license, also known as Merchant mariner license, to navigate a yacht with passengers aboard.

In addition to the captain’s license, yacht operators need to possess certifications in safety and maneuvering yachts. Basic knowledge of how to troubleshoot common problems that may occur during a yachting trip is also required.

It’s important for yacht operators to keep up-to-date with changing regulations concerning operating yachts. Yacht certification agencies such as RYA and ASA provide certification programs that help maintain regulations compliance.

Operators can take refresher courses or attend seminars to keep their certification up-to-date. Staying informed about emerging issues in the industry can also prove helpful in ensuring safe and seamless voyages .

To avoid any risks related to legal liability or safety concerns, following mandatory guidelines and regulations is strongly recommended for any responsible yacht operator.

If life jackets could talk, they’d probably yell ‘ finally! ‘ when someone actually puts them on during a yacht rental.

Safety Equipment and Procedures

When it comes to ensuring the safety of all involved parties on a yacht rental, appropriate measures must be taken. The following guide will help you understand the necessary safety equipment and procedures required for a safe and enjoyable experience.

  • Life Jackets: Ensure that all passengers have properly fitted life jackets that are easily accessible in case of an emergency.
  • First Aid Kit: Always keep a well-stocked first-aid kit on board, including essential items like painkillers, bandages and antiseptic solutions.
  • Fire Safety Gear: Install smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and fire blankets on board to prevent and mitigate fire hazards.
  • Communications Equipment: Have communication equipment such as radios or cell phones onboard to stay in touch with others if need be.
  • Emergency Preparedness Plan: Prepare an emergency protocol beforehand that includes how to handle medical emergencies or other accidents that may occur.
  • Boat Maintenance Checks: Regularly maintain the yacht’s engine, fuel lines, electrical systems, and other important components for your safety.

It is important to note that yacht charters may have specific regulations or requirements set forth by governing bodies regarding safety equipment and procedures.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure a safe and enjoyable yachting experience for everyone on board. Don’t risk missing out on unforgettable memories due to lack of preparation; take action today to make your next outing a success!

Even the most experienced sailors can’t predict the weather, but at least they can pretend to with fancy navigation equipment.

Weather and Navigation Alerts

Yacht rental safety guidelines:

  • Yacht rental companies must provide sufficient information about weather conditions and navigation practices.
  • The captain or crew must regularly monitor updates on the weather forecast throughout the rental period.
  • In case of potentially dangerous weather conditions, the captain must take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of all passengers.
  • When sailing in international waters, it is essential to adhere to maritime laws and regulations.
  • Navigational aids such as buoys, beacons, lighthouses should be observed while also keeping an eye on potential hazards such as rocks or shoals.
  • If there are any unexpected changes in weather or navigational circumstances, alerts must be immediately communicated among passengers and crew for appropriate actions to be taken.

It’s worth noting that proper handling of these alerts can greatly determine the success of any yacht outing. Ensuring that everyone onboard has access to important information about weather and navigation helps guarantee everyone’s safety during their trip.

A notable true story occurred when a group of inexperienced boat enthusiasts rented a yacht but failed to heed weather alerts. Due mostly to ignorance of impending storms, they found themselves stranded at sea for two days. Thankfully everyone on board survived but this incident could have easily turned fatal if they did not underestimate what damage a severe storm can cause.

Booking a yacht rental is like trying to book a table at a Michelin-starred restaurant during peak season, except instead of food, you’re ordering a luxury vessel to sail the seas.

Booking and Reservations for Yacht Rentals

To make yacht rentals hassle-free, efficient, and less time-consuming with you in control, we have discussed the various methods to book and reserve yacht rentals in Florida. Online booking platforms, direct contact with rental companies, and payment and cancellation policies, each sub-section discusses a unique solution to make your yacht rental experience smooth and stress-free.

Online Booking Platforms

With the advancement of technology, yacht rental services have become more accessible through various digital mediums. Here are some key points to note about the diverse range of online booking platforms available:

  • Some online booking platforms provide multiple options for yacht rentals. These include power yachts, fishing boats, sailing yachts, and luxury mega yachts.
  • These platforms offer a variety of customization options including itinerary planning and catering services for the utmost convenience.
  • Many booking platforms offer real-time availability and immediate confirmation for reservations allowing for an easily streamlined process.
  • In addition to rental services, these websites can also provide information on local attractions near the dock or harbor area.

It is important to note that different online booking platforms may vary in terms of prices and additional features offered . Customers should thoroughly research each platform before making a final decision on their preferred provider.

Pro Tip: Before making your reservation, it is recommended to confirm all necessary details with the yacht charter company directly to ensure a hassle-free experience. Cut out the middleman and get on speaking terms with the yacht rental companies – just don’t forget to use your inside voice when bargaining for that luxurious upgrade.

Direct Contact with Rental Companies

When it comes to yacht rentals, engaging in direct communication with rental companies is highly beneficial. Direct contact provides a chance to receive personalized and in-depth information about the company and its services. This allows you to make an informed decision and avoid any misunderstandings that may arise from relying solely on online information.

By communicating directly with rental companies, it is possible to negotiate terms, make special requests and get real-time updates about availability . You may also benefit from exclusive promotions or discounts that are not available online.

It is important to note that direct contact does not necessarily mean visiting the company’s physical location. Emails, phone calls or chatbots can be utilized for this purpose . However, it is recommended to visit the location if possible, as this provides an opportunity to view and inspect the yacht beforehand .

In some instances, direct contact with rental companies has resulted in forming long-term business relationships . These fruitful partnerships provide added benefits such as loyalty programs, ongoing discounts or access to premium yachts.

It is clear that by engaging in direct communication with rental companies, customers can significantly benefit from a tailored and personalized experience. It allows for efficient solutions for smoother yacht rentals at competitive prices.

Cancel the yacht rental? No problem, just make sure your tears don’t flood the boat.

Payment and Cancellation Policies

For the Reservation and Refund Arrangements, if you want to make any changes or cancellations to your booking, please follow the guidelines outlined in our Payment and Cancellation Policies . These policies will ensure that your transaction is carried out with transparency and clarity.

It is important to note that these policies may differ according to specific yacht types, as well as peak season times. Please read through them carefully to ensure compliance with our regulations.

7 Best Places to Go Glamping in Florida — From Tiny Cabins to Floating Houseboats

From houseboat rentals to tree houses, these are the best glamping spots in Florida.

Thanks to Florida’s year-round warm weather and wide range of alternative accommodations that include tree houses, houseboats, and tiny homes, the state is a dream destination for glamping. In fact, glamping has become so popular that the state has added glampsites to 10 state parks, including three tents at Manatee Springs State Park, one of the best places in Florida for manatee sightings. But beyond the state park offerings, which tend to be a tad less glamorous, the state is home to a selection of private glamping resorts.

Here are 7 of the top places to go glamping in Florida.

Coldwater Gardens, Milton

Coldwater Gardens is an eco-resort north of Pensacola with 385 acres of gardens, orchards, and wetlands set along a creek. Each piece of planted flora is selected to support local and migratory butterflies, so it's truly a nature lover's paradise. Fruits and vegetables are grown on-site, and there’s a bee apiary and chicken coop.

For lodging, Coldwater has it all, from luxe climate-controlled cabins, cabanas, and tiny houses to stilted, above-ground canopy cottages and a modern tree house. An above-ground stargazer platform for tent campers rounds out the offerings.

Live Oak Landing, Freeport

Live Oak Landing is the ultimate Gulf Coast getaway. It’s set on a creek, just a short drive from a renowned string of Emerald Coast beaches. There’s an outdoor pool, a playground, and boat rentals for visitors who want to get out on the water. While technically an RV resort, Live Oak Landing has over 30 glamping cottages, most of which are set right on the water. Each cottage is fully furnished with a kitchen (or kitchenette in the smaller units), linens, and an outdoor fire ring. The one-bedroom cottages also have a private bathroom plus a washer and dryer.

At first glance, the Westgate River Ranch looks like something you’d find in Wyoming, but this proud Florida dude ranch promises a “not-so-touristy adventure experience” with safari tents set beneath an oak tree canopy, cottages and cabins, and a lineup of covered wagons.

The popular glamping property is set on one of the few untouched pieces of Florida wilderness. It boasts endless outdoor fun — including a ropes course, a zip line, and a rock climbing wall. A mechanical bull, horseback riding, and a petting farm bring a taste of the West — complemented by a weekly rodeo with bull riding, calf roping, and barrel racing in a 1,200-seat arena.

Island Oaks RV Resort, Glen St. Mary

It’s all about the water at Island Oaks RV Resort in Glen St. Mary. There are plenty of lakes, ponds, and pools for cooling off, as well as mini golf, sports courts, and a fitness center. As its name suggests, there are many RV sites at this resort, but glampers will want to turn their attention to the tiny house rentals, which are clean and modern with covered terraces, outdoor picnic tables, and fire rings.

It’s worth noting that Island Oaks was one of the top trending private campgrounds in a 2023 report by Campspot , a booking engine for glampsites.

The Crystalmarine Houseboat Suite, Key West

Spend a night out at sea in what is arguably the most romantic suite in all of Florida. This houseboat is anchored around five minutes from shore, providing complete privacy. And while you may be sleeping on a boat, luxury abounds in The Crystalmarine Suite . The main room has floor-to-ceiling windows providing endless ocean views, and the glampspot has a kitchenette and a full en-suite bath with a rainfall shower. There’s a sandbar and a tiny island nearby, and a kayak, hammocks, and snorkel gear are provided.

Blue Ocean Yacht Charters, Key West

Boat camping isn't the most obvious form of glamping, but it’s a must-try in Florida, the land of clear water and sandy shores. Pretend, even just for a night, that you live aboard a yacht that’s anchored in the Caribbean. The folks at Blue Ocean Yacht Charters rent their boats out overnight, so you can “camp” on the water. The views — both of the night sky above and the surrounding sea — are impossible to replicate on land.

Treehouse Cabin Retreat, Old Town

This tiny property has just two offerings — a tree house and a cabin — yet it is a favorite on the Hipcamp booking site with a 98 percent approval rating from past guests. The property is located a few minutes from the Suwannee River with freshwater springs that are perfect for swimming and paddling. The property boasts an outdoor shower, a campfire ring, and a hammock that’s positioned for stargazing.
