From the Sagamore Bridge, follow Route 6 to exit 6 (Rte. 132). Bear right at the end of the exit ramp and follow Rte. 132 for approximately 2.5 miles. You will then come to a rotary circle. Yachtman Condo #141

This was our second year staying for a week in Hyannis at the Yachtsman Condos; specifically #141. Our family ranges in age from 4-67 and we find this area offers something for everyone. We love the walks to Kalmus Beach and the pool, with lifeguard, right out the back door. Ferries to the Islands,boating day trips, ice cream and restaurants are within a comfortable walk. Veterans Park, next door, offers swings for children. The condo is well stocked and the various levels offer privacy. The owners are very easy to deal with and offer advice about the area or property when needed. We have already booked for next year....our stays are building wonderful family memories. More

We have three children under the age of six and this was by far the best set up we could find for convenience in Cape Cod....We woke up, headed to the beach until 12pm back to the condo for lunch and out to the pool in the pm...with young kids staying the entire day at the beach was too much, they needed to get out of the sun and nap a few hours...the thought of packing everything back up and going back to the beach at 3pm didn't suit us so the outdoor pool was such a great option. The positives: 1- your on the beach so no loading and unloading the car to and from the beach daily, and no need to pay beach parking daily 2- they have an outdoor pool with lots of seating. The pool also has a large gazebo with comfortable furniture, great for anyone who loves the shade, you can also have lunch there. Also my kids instantly made friends with other children vacation at the Yachtsman which was so great. 3- our unit 43 was very nice, clean with brand new kitchen...pictures on web site very accurate...each unit is different so you need to check site to see what suits your family. 4- secure parking, we had a code to get into the lot 5-location can't be beat, especially for young kids veterans beach is so calm and shallow, very close to the port and all restaurants and shops, the condo has a private section of beach adjacent to Veterans public beach. 6- a bit pricy but we felt it was worth it, other choices are renting a home but then there's no pool or going to a hotel but then your eating out 3 meals a day and cramped in one room. 7- all the staff at the Yachtsman were very helpful and kind. 8- I work in the hotel industry and I'm a bit of a clean freak and get a bit disgusted as I know how things are cleaned, our unit was clean (not spotless but it didn't feel gross) I threw the mattress covers in the wash when we arrived as those had not been changed but other than that the unit was clean...I also liked that the vacuum and swifter mop where in the unit so I could clean some sand up during the stay as you do not have any daily cleaning service. 9- I brought my linens as suggested by the rental office but our unit also had many sets available as well as beach towels. I don't have any negatives other than the fact that renting a condo is just like being home so it wasn't as relaxing due to the fact that I still made beds and cooked, laundry etc but these type of vacations are for the kids...will be renting again in 2014.

All units at the Yatchsman are not equal! This unit looked like it was out of the '50s and is in serious need of a dehumidifier and a renovation! Whatever you do, don't open the basement door - you can't un smell that! Carpets are stained, beds are old, water damage everywhere! We had the added joy of rude neighbors the week we stayed - the BBQ'd right on their patio (supposed to roll it out onto the grass) allowing all of their lighter fluid smoke to come right into our windows - not to mention how loud they were outside of the noise hours (til 1am one night).

Have used this on multiple occasions, using it as our Cape Cod retreat, usually paired up with a week or so in Boston. The properties are fantastic. Clean, well laid out, large with all the facilities you could ask for and situated right at the beach just a short walk from the harbour. The properties I've stayed in have always had a Cape Cod/New England theme, but don't assume that will always be the case as the individual owners will have decorated to personal taste. Always found the people friendly, plenty of places either a walk or a short drive away for great food. Hyannis is a lovely quite town, so wouldn't recommend it for anyone with an expectation of wild night life, but for a chillaxin vacation this is the perfect place. If your family/work allows, I'd recommend a couple of weeks pre June, or autumn as Brits could holiday here in a 4 bed property for less than a grand a week at current exchange rates. So split that between a couple of families and you have a bargain. My dream - to own one of these properties myself. Highly recommended for a holiday in beautiful part of the world

These are some nice properties but its clear that this is a haven for the aged. The apartments are arguably very nice, especially a four bedroom for $2000 a week. We just had folks give us the stink eye for having kids. It's clear this place caters to picky pensioners and they're worried they'll lose their clientele.

We booked this "blind," having never stayed there before or even knowing anyone who had. Turned out to be a great choice. Location - excellent. Walking distance to (Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket) ferries and many good restaurants. Has its own beach (albeit, not among the best on the Cape). Minutes from several good beaches (i.e. Craigsville) and all of the shops and restaurants in Hyannis. And centrally located on the Cape (about same distance east to Falmouth or west to Chatham). Very nice pool staffed by a lifeguard (great to just send the kids on their own). Most units have three decks, either overlooking Lewis Bay, or the pool, which are very relaxing. Very quiet development and (most importantly to us), the walls seem to have been thick enough that nobody complained about my crazy kids yelling all the time (nor did I hear anyone else's crazy kids yelling)! Garbage pick-up twice a day. Price (compared to hotels and/or area resorts) was very reasonable, and we had TONS of room for our family of 6 (I'm sure we would have been on top of each other in a hotel). Would DEFINITELY rent again.

Three-alarm fire causes $1 million in damages to Yachtsman Condominium complex

HYANNIS — A three-alarm fire on Saturday caused approximately $1 million in damages at the Yachtsman Condominium complex in Hyannis, fire officials said.

The Hyannis Fire Department responded at 7:59 p.m. on Oct. 8 to several calls reporting a fire at the complex, Hyannis Fire Chief Peter Burke said.

No residents displaced by fire at Hyannis condo complex

The fire, which impacted the part of the building closest to the Veterans Park Beach parking lot, Burke said, heavily damaged the condo unit it started in and surrounding units, with initial damage estimates placed at $1 million.

Barnstable, Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills, West Barnstable, Yarmouth and Sandwich fire departments responded to the scene, with the Dennis and Cotuit departments providing station coverage, Burke said.

The fire was contained by 8:28 p.m. and the scene was given the all-clear by about 11:45 p.m., according to Burke.

There were no civilian injuries and one firefighter was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with minor injuries and released later that evening, he said.

No residents were displaced by the fire, Burke said.

The cause of the fire in under investigation, he said, but it does not seem suspicious in nature.
